stealth or kite and kill the small ones then run past the big ones. the card you need is on a skelly so you can grab it and run. only a problem for ungabungas trying to bruteforce through everything. if you really want to complain, bring up crap like the sabbat hotel with a million high speed frickers bursting out of the walls
I really can't. It fricking sucks. I hate the flesh geodudes with the heat of 1,000 Foreman grills. I just turn on godmode and walk through it on replays tbh.
The first section is annoying, but if you can make it through that, the second section is only frustrating because of the timed switch puzzle with the electricity and the direction of the fan moving the water, and the centaur creature. You can fight it, or you can bypass it if you walk along the ledge by the barrels and break into the hatch in the middle of the thin ledge behind the falling water.
After the tzimitse centaur, everything looks the same, so it's hard to know where you are and where to go, right?
Just follow the numbers.
Are they going up? You're going the wrong way.
Are they going down? Keep going that way.
I'll give you that it's a pain, but it's not that horrible.
I've been through the game multiple times and I only got lost the first time until I clued in to the numbers.
I'm playing it on and off for the first time and there are a lot of sections which are shockingly bad.
I assume the vast majority of people who like it played it when it first came out and haven't really played it since, and as a result just filtered all the crap parts out of their memory.
I'm playing it for the first time and i'm currently in the sewers looking for the nosferatu, does the game really get worse after that? I was really enjoying it so far
>next hub (chinatown) is usually considered the best area in the game.
lol what, chinatown is by far the worst area of the game, it's rushed and unfinished with barely any content, the best area is objectively santa monica, the areas get worse as the game progresses

Santa Monica is great but I think Downtown is just as good. Not as atmospheric but packed with a lot of great content.

santa monica = kino and comfy
downtown = not kino neither comfy
20 year old zoomer here, played it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought it was great but the game takes a steep decline in quality when you reach the sewers
in general the anarchs besides jack and maybe nines all had sticks up their asses the entire time because the story railroads you into being vaguely associated with la croix.
i think the reason i dislike them so much is because i've met these "agree with everything i say or you're literally hitler" types in my life before both in and outside of Ganker.
To be fair Nines is completely fair to player character and will even go out of his way to save (YOU) twice and teach you stuff (free dots) twice as well. Compared to the prince who basically gives you a suicide mission while not even being a day old and it helps paint the anarchs as somewhat decent, even if they're clowns

i agree, but my listing "maybe nines" was moreso focused on an encounter where i told him that a line he said was cliche, which then locked me into some kind of war against the anarchs or some shit where everyone was pissy towards me and refused to start dialogue.
Santa Monica is a 10/10
Then afterwards it dips to a 9/10
Then after the end of Hollywood, it dips to a 3/10
Then in Chinatown it goes back up to a 7/10
Before going back down near the very end to a 5/10
Played this game recently for the first time and I thought it was alright, though it definitely didn't live up to the expectations I set for myself after hearing people talk about how great the game was for years.
Only played through it once, though, and as a Nosferatu. Read online and saw that many people didn't recommend playing as Nos for a first playthrough, but it didn't really feel that much different than how I thought it would be. The only real difficulty I had was in Chinatown where I had to meet the guy after seeing his daughter get kidnapped, as talking to everyone (except for one old guy) got them scared of me, and I didn't realize that there was a hidden elevator for a long time. Chinatown also felt really empty, quest-wise. Though I understand that the game was rushed a bit. Santa Monica was the best part of the game for me, and it got progressively more and more dull as the game went on.
I don't know, maybe I missed some amazing thing on my first playthrough and didn't know. I know that there's some Heather b***h that follows you, but I never ended up meeting her again after saving her in the hospital.
>Do the one thing literally everyone says not to do on your first playthrough >Blame game
I could understand saying frick it and playing Malkavian if you were familiar with the setting beforehand or were well read enough to understand the poetic and mythological references a lot of the dialogue makes. Nosferatu though actively locks you out of a tonne of choices and overworld dialogue. Very stupid move to play it first.
I went into the game blind, having not experienced any other VtM-related media before. Didn't know what Nosferatu was I did the questionnaire thing to create my character, and I only read about Nosferatu not being recommended after finishing the game.
Just wondering what choices playing a Nosferatu locks you out of. Aside from prostitutes and girls at bars and clubs not wanting to talk, I didn't really notice that many missing options (aside from seduction-related things).
I'll probably play it again later, after my Vtmb fatigue is gone.
It's mostly that the play style encourages you to use the rather bland sewers to move around which can get repetitive compared to the hubs. Doing so can often cause players to miss certain events, the most common one is never meeting your ghoul. It's not that you're guaranteed to miss things, just that you're more likely to miss flags when playing blind.
Oh. I only used the sewers for travelling between different levels or for shortcuts. You can literally run out in the open, almost right next to people, and it doesn't really affect the masquerade penalty thing. I've even scared a couple npcs a few times, and still not no penalty.
I dont think it's confirmed you and your sire had sex before they turned you.
Anon, there's a shot in the opening of opened condom packages. What do you think they were doing, a sex ed class?
Vampires gotta make money too. Maybe she was going to use you as a coke mule. You can't prove that the player character doesn't have a kilo of cocaine filled condems shoved up their anus.
i've recently been playing vtmb for the first time. had no expectations going in, and as of china town, i really like the game.
only thing i was really spoiled on was the nosferatu caves and that the combat really sucked and the game dipped in quality after the first two maps, but i was pleasantly surprised by how those parts of the game are actually kind of ok. not as great as the rest, but still pretty good.
got any recommendations for games/mods to play after i beat it, Ganker?
the endings were so fricking shit, there is literally no reason at all to side with ming xiao or lacroix, it's hilarious how biased the game is in favor of the anarchs
> Vampires don't like sex > Besides Jeannete > The Player character > Your sire > Bertram > VV > That vampire plague prostitute > Every single one involved in that Thinblood quest
Can't they just retcon that shit? It's obviously a complete coomer game and pretending that none of the characters care about sex just because the tabletop game doesn't want ERP is just dumb. Retcon it.
>Vampires don't like sex
They can and some do, it's just doesn't compare to the pleasure of drinking blood. You also need to have a high humanity, which isn't super common.
You probably don't want to have sex with a corpse, and not everyone is gonna dump into blush of life. I don't think anything should be more enjoyable than drinking blood, so I'm fine with how it is.
>I don't think anything should be more enjoyable than drinking blood
But none of the characters seem particularly concerned with it. There's plenty who think with their dick, not many think with their teeth, so it doesn't come across well. Show don't tell.
It's not that vampires can't enjoy sex, it's just there is almost nothing that comes close to the pleasure you can feel drinking blood, so why bother with it? Those characters named all have alterior reasons for still liking sex.
Jeanette loves doing what's disgusts or angers Therese, Thinbloods are much more human and VV loves being a sex object and ising that to influence people. The player are a new fledgling and still retain old habits and Bertram is a pervert.
It's a trashy hotel, there's no guarantee those used condoms are yours.
Characters do have pleasure drives, it's just that drinking blood is a way more intense driver and typically usurps sex in the minds of Vampires. You could just as easily say it's immature to expect actual sex in a setting where it's very tame compared to sucking blood. Which is how it's typically viewed in the setting.

And yet the characters are rarely if ever concerned with bloodsucking and getting available humans to drink. Most of them are concerned with power struggles and nothing else. The reason why sex drives are interesting is simply because sex is more human and more interesting than drinking blood. It gives the characters depth and options for emotional and psychological vunerability and it also makes them seem more human and believable, it gives them more personality.
The actual reason why it's missing is that the tabletop creators didn't want a bunch of ERP degenerates, that's it, that's the reason.

Dude the table to game is from the 90s and was made to pander to edgy goth nerds. Early art features shit like characters wearing bdsm gear and dressing like strippers. There's plenty of sexually charged shit in the setting. Those vampires that do have sex typically are trying to cling to aspects of their past humanity. But that's the thing, it's their PAST humanity. Because they mostly aren't human anymore.
>Bertram
Does he? I thought his relationship with Jeanette were only just for "business". Don't remember anything suggesting they had sex >VV
She's just a teaser >Your sire >That vampire plague prostitute
They do it for a purpose beyond just "I want to have sex for pleasure"
no but you can ignore it. I dunno why they give a shit when you play as objectively evil parasites who ruin everything and everyone around them. Would some hardcore Nazi/Commie larper really be that bad in comparison to most player characters?
Give music and speculate best way to do contemporary setting for VTMB or best way to do sequel. I just want more good vampire bros.
I think ideally vampires would move away from the counterculture or very binary groupings of vampires (the nosferatus are leather wearing sneakies and gangrels like to run through the woods). I think you could tread on deus ex territory with conspiracies and go create a feel of endless conspiracies invoking a sort of dread of the invisible hand that vampires has on the world. Humans politics and zeitgeist is only ever swept in larger powerplays by vampires.
why
The combat is really bad.
would you care to elaborate on that?
The writing is really bad
defend this.
>console god-mode
>rush through it
now you can enjoy the rest of an amazing game
stealth or kite and kill the small ones then run past the big ones. the card you need is on a skelly so you can grab it and run. only a problem for ungabungas trying to bruteforce through everything. if you really want to complain, bring up crap like the sabbat hotel with a million high speed frickers bursting out of the walls
I can't, this part is legitimately awful, thank god the plus patch let's you skip it
I really can't. It fricking sucks. I hate the flesh geodudes with the heat of 1,000 Foreman grills. I just turn on godmode and walk through it on replays tbh.
I punched everyone in there without cheating. It was pretty easy tbh

i am not a fan too, everyone in this game talks like you are there to hear their life story and it makes me annoyed as frick.
they do play it again but with the nostalgia glasses
Remember that baiting is a israeli trait.
i dropped it after the first hub, but I'm unsure if i shouldn't give it another try
It's kino up to the ending of Hollywood
I'm playing it for the first time and i'm currently in the sewers looking for the nosferatu, does the game really get worse after that? I was really enjoying it so far
The sewers is the absolute worst part of the game, it does improve however.
ok good because the sewer level was making me lose hope in the game
next hub (chinatown) is usually considered the best area in the game.
it's cool but it's also the smallest and most linear by far.
It is? I didn't particularly find it much better or worse than any other part of the game, if anything it was kinda forgettable with how short it was.
>next hub (chinatown) is usually considered the best area in the game.

So which club has the best music? I loved Isolated in the asylum and Lecher b***h in the last round
isolated has such late 90's early 2000's goofy charm
it does and I love it, when I entered the last round for the first time I had a nostalgia trip
oh whoops I thought you were talking about lecher b***h, isolated also encapsulates that early 2000s vibe perfectly, the whole soundtrack does
objectively This
If I go will you follow
Me trough the cracks and hollows
And I would be your Cain
If you would be here NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Paradox refuses to admit defeat. So reasons that we can only speculate they keep insisting the game is gonna happen
Lecher b***h because so I can shove my cammy wiener down Damsel's stupid throat.
>shove my cammy wiener down Damsel's stupid throat.
Her lips were made for it.
What the FRICK was her problem?
Imagine being eternally cursed to be the idiot you were at 18-22 years old, worse if you were some sort of political extremist.
Becoming a vampire makes being a bawd less appealing since nothing tops the pleasure of drinking blood.
in general the anarchs besides jack and maybe nines all had sticks up their asses the entire time because the story railroads you into being vaguely associated with la croix.

Isolated and the Vesiuvius theme are my favorites for interior music, Hollywood theme for exterior.
It's one of my favorite games my favorite rpg that's for sure
this is a bait thread
Is vtmb 2 confirmed dead
>It's shit.
Your taste?
At most the combat is shit, calling other aspects of it shit (apart from the sewers) is pure stupidity.
We're never EVER gonna see VTMB:2, and that's a good thing. Chinese Room will frick up even more and Paradox will give up.

I dont think it's confirmed you and your sire had sex before they turned you.

It's replayable
Get him!
