yeah, the sequel is pretty fun but suffers alot
    >every new game+ you gotta do the metros again
    >do the shitty electric substations puzzle again
    >gotta deal with Lawan again
    >Lawan is in 90% of the second half of the game, while also being the most annoying character.
    >also really ugly
Only thing i prefer in DL2 is the verticality of the central area, and the parkour

We're not talking about that pile of shit.

well going back to DL1, the story is not that good, but still decent background for the gameplay, i finished the new game +7 times, however the locations in DL1 are not that interesting, you go to a school, a train yard, a construction site, the most fun story-related location is probably the arena where you fight demolisher. i can barely get through a 3rd playthrough of DL2, i can't stand Lawan's childish personality.

no, i think that the one good part present from release. i hope they remove Lawan, Sophie and Barney in the next patch and replace them with cardboard cutouts

they literally had a year later movement update that *tried* to make it less floaty which it still is anyway when I played that version

i don't get it, are you just meant to run away like a coward? why even have combat in the game if it's going to be so useless?

Don't play on the hardest difficulty, it's absolutely not fun. I made that mistake and it was a big slog. You'll spend 1/3 of the game hitting the same zombie with a stick without killing him if you do.

you should only play the hardest difficulties after unlocking the strong weapons that one-shot zombies anyway.

Really did put me off the blueprints when I crafted "big dick destroyer" machete or whatever and then it would basically lose a quarter of its durability dealing with one or two basic zombies unless it got lucky kills.

harder difficulties are for bows, otherwise it's suffering spongy enemies, and still, I just keked when chunky biters take 2 to 3 arrows to fricking die

Also zombies are supposed to be hard to kill right?
I mean, in RE2 they're immortal unless you headshot them

I really didn't get it. The combat always felt awkward and spongey to the point where I basically did nothing but dropkicks. I forced myself to finish it and I really didn't enjoy it. It starts poorly, gets a bit better after you unlock more stuff, then finishes poorly with more bullshit enemies or you just being pretty untouchable and the QTE ending obviously. That and the story/characters are cliched to frick, but that's to be expected.

It's not. The writing and voice work are horrendous and the combat and parkour are cartoonish.

It's the best zombie game produced during the zombie craze, somehow.

I felt the same way, the game is pretty mediocre and im not sure why its being praised so much. I did like Crane, and the parkour volatile chases were sick as frick, running around harran was cool especially during the night, but thats about all the game has to offer really, the melee combat is satisfying but gets repetitive, guns are boring, the story is ehhhh, the voice acting is atrocious on almost all characters and i wanted to kms, I mean its an alright game, and the way I see it its 3 euros on steam rn its worth it for that price but again its really nothing special.

the gameplay is really fun, and the side quests are definitely the highlight of the game, great atmosphere too. have you tried "the following" dlc

The writing had some potential with Crane being a double agent, but it ended up as predictable as possible. I havent played the following dlc yet.
The armed combat and the parkour are fine, and its one of the few games that I enjoyed scavenging and crafting weapons. Of course guns are OP her, so when you get your hands on a rifle then the game becomes super easy.
Perhaps you need to use the 1975 filter. It makes it more gritty

          >the following dlc
I was amazed how actually trading parkour for buggy was fun, because the vehicle is really well made, definitely recommended and a callback to the past of what a DLC actually should be,
also the story is actually better because devs treat it as one big sidequest, so you +1 frick more about it

          Play The Following, it’s great
          >big new area with good new characters, new main quest and new side quests
          >new mechanic (buggy), it’s fleshed out and makes the game more fun
          >keeps everything that’s good from the base game

DL2 fricked up a lot of things
You have to use parkour to move anywhere at all? let's make it drain stamina!
Oh you reached the second part of the town with shit-ton of skyscrapers? frick parkour, just use boring paraglider lmao
not to metion the non-existent ragdoll, when I played on release you couldn't even impale them into the spikes, they would just bounce off them

      >You have to use parkour to move anywhere at all? let's make it drain stamina!
I actually like the concept of that but it shouldn't be relegated to inhibitors and just increase with using parkour
      >Oh you reached the second part of the town with shit-ton of skyscrapers? frick parkour, just use boring paraglider lmao
I hated the sight of it at first but when I actually played played second upgrade was really nice, 3rd ruins the game and boost should only be 1mm fart save

I love the first game so much. I used to not like the Rais QTE fight at the end, but then I fought Waltz, and I now I love Rais. He's such a stock bad guy, it's great. The real final boss is the parkour gauntlet.

I hate collecting the inhibitors. It's like they went out of their way to change everything about the mechanics and none of it works. I've been playing with mods recently and trying to make it more like DL1. I was able to disable the immunity mechanic. I wonder if you could make it so you automatically get an inhibitor every time you level up the skill tree.

Near outbreak zombie games are pretty rare and that's the best setting for a zombie game. Everyone knows the first 10 minutes of Dawn of the dead was the best part of the movie.

I knew when the sequel went post-apocalypse it was gonna suck.
