not really mid 2000s but I found a random flash drive in one of the computers in 2009 or so that had halo 1's multiplayer on it. It got really popular for all of a month before the principal found out and had them all purged.

I kept getting yelled at for being left-handed and using the mouse on that side. W isn't centered with ASD and remapping everything to the numpad always felt more natural. Zoomers actually do computer science these days, right? I'm jealous, our "computer class" was nothing but typing exercises taught by the 70yo former type writer teacher. Mostly played Oregon Trail.

They used to just tell us to open some educational game/program and work our way through it most of the time. It was just maths, english, and typing mini games.
maybe some basic internet safety stuff and they'd have us learn how to use Powerpoint, Word and Excel
Then in the final year we'd get to make a web page

ironically, csgo has an incredibly cool and dynamic version of assault but good luck finding people playing that

Competitive cs was such a two edged sword in general. sure competitive is fun, but make the game have a MMR system people care about & give too much incentive to normal players to play competitively and now the difference in skill and ability is just too vast. Now casual modes and random community servers sometimes suck to play regardless of which side youre in
        >if youre remarkably good you need to actively hold yourself back and shaft yourself from a lot of gameplay variety or doing things you like if you dont want to have a very boring stomping session
        >if youre remarkably bad then self explanatory

We tried to play a Quake deathmatch back in the day. Was going amazing until some one ruined it and got too excited, teacher walked over and was dumbfounded. Started pacing around the room seeing who was playing, fortunately I knew to just bring up the console and type quit. Some of us escaped kek.

    >isn't looking
Our teachers were completely fine with it as long as it wasn't a LAN game because it "slowed down the network". I had a USB with tons of flash games saved that I'd upload to the school wide shared drive so everyone else could play, too. My favorite was Armadillo Run. When I'd get bored of the games I spent my time writing scripts that would wait until the next class came in then make the motherboard speaker beep at random frequencies and times while opening and closing the CD drive. Then it would disable and delete the monitoring software. Good times.

Some of the learning games we played in school were actually super fun, can't remember what they were, I know one was about a group of superheroes and like each one focused on a different subject. There was this typing game we use to play that as well would teach you to type, and I liked that one as well.

    >TFW back in 2008-2009 our high school got some GAY ASS program that let teachers monitor every computer screen at once in the lab and could take control of a specific PC remotely

Shit was so annoying, so you couldn't browse the internet or play flash games because the teacher would just take control of your PC and close the screen.

holy shit that sounds gay, ours just had a program that would monitor activity and block the site if it had flash games which could easily be passed using an unblocker site.

        Anonymous

The school put filters/blocks on sites as well, but they were easy to get around. The monitor program was only in the computer lab, like when an entire class would go and do assignments in the computer lab and the teacher could monitor everyone's computer.

    >Cannot help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation - in tears as she comes over, turns the monitor on, and gets windmill dick in the face
Got sent to the principal's office; despite this, I was in good standing with the teacher, and she let me borrow a Photoshop disc to install it on my PC.
