The added texture to the hair makes his hair look like a dog turd. Should have gone with a softer texture.
I don't see a darker tone with the face overall. Its just softer lighting for less harder shadows like above the brow and under the mustache for blending of light. His face is fatter though.

kinda related to your post, but there's a ton of people who don't understand the difference between tan and tanned.
tan is light brown, so someone who's tan has a light brown/beige-ish skin, while someone who's tanned usually refers to being tanned from the sun. sometimes being tan can refer to being suntanned, but it's not always the case.
We wouldn't because we are white masters. Even with a tan we are as pale as original (better) Mario. Mario is a true aryan.
