There is a part where Snake makes friends with an ex-olympic figure skater that became a mercenary because she became a war refugee. It's really emotional despite the lack of striking visuals. Felt like a warm-up for characters like Sniper Wolf and Meryl. If Konami ever remakes the first 2 Metal Gear games I hope they remember that character. She was Gray Fox's GF, or something.

MGS is the only series where I can’t decide whether I think 1, 2, or 3 is my favorite.

MGS1/MGS2 are like S3/S&K, and OoT/MM. They compliment each other as a duology.

the talk about controlling the information flow to create context and manipulating people into thinking what you want them to think was interesting, but the story perse is a mess, Solidus is not as charismatic as Liquid and Dead Cell was lackluster compared to Foxhound

fair enough points but I still rate MGS2 higher than MGS1. MGS2 was pure genius, even the fact that Raiden trained in VR is mindblowingly meta, because Konami actually did release a game called MGS: VR or something between MGS1 and 2. And at the end of the Game Boy Colour game that came out between MGS1 and 2, it says "time to wake up, Jack" or something like that implying the whole thing was Raiden in VR training.. MGS2 is just utterly brilliant. If MGS1 is an S tier game, MGS2 is an SS tier.

Mgs2 is more relevant/impactful and will stand the test of time better than Mgs1.
Mgs1 is a good game, Mgs2 is bigger than just a game.

Jade cocoon. The first game was great but the second game was very mediocre. It killed any hopes of getting a new jade cocoon game except maybe when the patent expires
