I enjoyed my time with Anthem. Colossus was fun and ability synergies between party members was great. Played it on launch for $15 and don't regret it at all. Beat the game and waited for updates, it's unfortunate they didn't try to pull a Warframe with it. They could have turned it around if they put any real effort into the project. The game had astronomical issues regardless of my enjoyment and endgame was an absolute joke.

it's frustrating because the moment to moment gameplay is fun and the javelins are satisfying to control. they just completely fricked up EVERYTHING else about the game - the loot sucked, the missions sucked, the story sucked, the characters and dialogue sucked, etc

Anthem was the only game in my life I beat without paying attention to the story. I skipped everything and beat it and have no idea what the story was about

this is the most "average" game to me

That was pretty weird, played some of it. I don't think it was even that popular tv show but they made mmorpg out of it

unironically a fun game that could have been a hit if it had marketing behind it
i literally randomly stumbled upon it on steam

I think a lot of people remember this game, no matter how much BioWare wishes otherwise.

For like 3 bucks it was fun for a couple hours with a friend.

I'm still mad BioWare put their best guys on this and left Mass Effect to their B team.
Astronomical levels of stupidity that they've never recovered from.
Haven't played it, and I don't intend to. It looked mid when it launched and the fact they dropped support altogether after promising a redesign speaks volumes.

Nah, man, B team would have been the Austin office. Instead, they passed it off to the C team at Montreal - most of those jokers didn't have any industry experience whatsoever, but the higher-ups figured it was fine to let them start the next ME trilogy regardless.

I ended up buying Anthem because my mom came to visit on my graduation, and offered to buy me a cheap game as a present on the way home, and I told her to buy Anthem for 5 bucks.

It had some potential and something that makes me sad about its failure in hindsight is that it caused BioWare to entrench themselves in their own tropes going forward. So because of Anthem BioWare is no longer risking new IP, they've now revised their company policies so that ALL their games have to be about being a hero with a bunch of companions.

I love Mass Effect and Dragon Age as much as most fans do, but I think the "It's about the characters" shit is holding BioWare back and it's part of what made them regress because they kept hiring fanboys and fangirls who make cutesy and bubbly characters but have no idea how to write a story, and that's now a mandate.

Recently discovered this, it's 1 of the best team based shooters I have found after getting banned from Overwatch.

I remember how funny it was that their itemization was so shit that the starter weapon did more damage than anything you find later. I was surprised they didn't make it f2p with a cash shop since they had a billion different cosmetics in the form of colors and textures for every little piece of the gear

They also fricked it up so it only considered the gear score of equipment slots currently in use - if you equipped an abnormally high-level item, then removed every other piece of equipment you had, it would treat you as having a high gear score, and your stats would increase dramatically.

I think this game is by far the worst case of forgotten game. It's easily one of the most recent game examples. Had a very popular studio and publisher behind it. Was so forgotten it barely even got memed/shit on. Even games like Anthem or Balan Wonderworld/land got tons of attention. Nobody wanted to touch Babylons Fall. It had no fans and no haters. Nobody cared.

Probably shouldn't admit that I was vocal about asking for an offline patch not even owning it but I don't give a shit if someone finds me.
I'm buying Redfall just because it got offline same as Marvel Avengers.

Unironically a better game and more interesting to this day than anything that has been announced past 2020, I should reinstall to finish off the achievements.
They should just give it an offline mode and it'd be perfect.

Anthem fricks, not hard... But it does frick. I got an absurdly OP Ralner's Blaze that instantly let me straight up solo the hardest content available. No more having to frick around and stay with a team. I could pioneer and just steamroll everything. Shit was super fun.

Anthem is quite likely the biggest AAA flop in the last decade.

If thats your standard for judging ubisoft should be bankrupt by now considering how many of their top games they give away regularly.
Im being serious tho, ubi games are worthless and they should shut down, haven't made anything good in a decade at least meanwhile Anthem's servers will outlast many way more successful games.
