    >empire has shitty dingy cruiser with a crew of former slaves with no flight experience
    >rebels have massive organized flagship with 10,000,000 guns
yeah, i don't think they followed through with the whole subversion thing. its more like all they did was swap the names

If you really want to annoy yourself, think about what the whole premise of the game is. You're racing to the federation home world to give them the secret plans for the super-cruiser. The one that shows up in the final system anyway.

      >While details are scarce about the Rebellion, they are a human supremacist movement that has virtually defeated the Galactic Federation in a civil war that has killed millions.
The Federation already lost many major battles and the rebels are sweeping occupying all the undefended systems left behind by their retreating armies.

youre not "the empire" in ftl, youre the federation

To be fair, at least one of the ships you can start with acts as a counter to the flagship stock though. I think it's one of the Engi ones.
Now, getting the fricker to the final stage...

More like they're the good guys because they're human supremacists.

This. The moment I realized it was "Muh duhversity" shit, it ruined the game for me.

tfw you're too moronic for the entire sci-fi genre

I tolerate shit like Star Trek and Star Wars because the villains are usually pretty cool, shit where I have to take an active role in pushing what I consider an evil agenda irritates me. I'd rather play games where that's not an issue.

I'll rephrase then. You're too moronic for any genre

I always wanted a prequel mod where we played as the rebels and showed how exactly they brought the federation to its knees. Instead of being a race to the end, it should've been open where you need to explore and do some espionage and recon to get everything in place to overthrow them.

You don't know if they're the bad guys or not. It may as well be you.

    >But muh human supremacism
All the alien species in the game generally attack you on sight. Only the Engi are pacifists, and they're nanomachine robots, not aliens. The Rebels being all humans doesn't indicate they're bad.

      >disappear on the next station we land at before he can "change the contract" on me, too
      Sounds like a smart man.
