Bayo is about finishing predetermined strings to reach powerful enders, and you can "pause" your progress in a string while doing other actions using a mechanic called Offset, and in 1 your resource is just used on big moves to get by enemy defenses whereas in 2 & 3 they skew the Magic system more towards more major mechanics the game wants you to use (Umbran Climax & Demon Slave) but the core gameplay is still there. After the trilogy, if you like the setting/characters then play Bayo Origins, and if you want more games that play similarly then play Transformers Devastation and Wonderful 101.

said it's purely a string based game so if you come from actual action games, be it DMC, NG, God Hand and so on where you're rewarded for mixing and matching various parts of your movesets, you're in for disappointment because there is just objectively very little natural synergy between your tools and most of the options are there to let you maintain the current string in order to get to the aforementioned finishers. Trying to use melee attacks for anything else (like attacking the enemies) is either mechanically pointless or downright contradictory to the core design of Bayonetta. What was Kamiya thinking?

And Dodge Offset trivializes the game. Bayo's iframes during a dodge are massive, so just dodge offset every attack to basically be nigh-invincible as you press punch/kick at random. You'll keep pulling off wicked weaves with zero risk of harm and get pure platinums with your eyes closed.

2 works pretty flawlessly on Cemu.

3 has stuttering still on Ryujinx caused by a difficult to fix technical issue. The stutters are caused by ASTC textures which must be decompressed by the emulator inefficiently because a PC can't natively decompress those textures. ToTK is also affected by this so I expect it'll be addressed eventually.

cant you hold that pause screen with a button combination ?

its not a proper training mode but you can practice combos there

      Anonymous

Yeah it doesn't really have any real training mode like in DMC5. I think if you go into the shop and select an option to test a move you haven't bought yet it dumps you into the training room with a single angle, but it's not much better than just being in the empty load screen training room.

      Anonymous

1 has a half assed one you can access by hitting a button on the loading screen.
None of them have a very good training mode because they don't let you fight many different enemies. Witch Trials are what I use as training.

      Anyone else?

You can max out everything if you just use two thumbs. One of the absolute hardest ones to max out is panther punt, even with my double thumb mario party technique I still just barely miss max. It keeps going though even after you hit max. You can knock off about 2/3 of a fearless/fairness or Joy with one TA.

    Is the whip weapon fun?

      Anonymous

      Funny. I'd say.
It's great for controlling who you fight and where.
Doesn't do much damage and not many combos.
Great costume though with the thigh highs and mask.

        it has cool command grabs
hard to use up close though

Not worried about bosses or minibosses but mostly for just fricking around with groups

Has great grab moves that you can use to swing stunned enemies around with or pull yourself toward enemies to attack. The only drawback is that its wicked weaves aren't really interesting so if you're using the weapon the fun way you'll be getting shit combos. I almost always have it as my secondary equip though just for its utility.

I really only use it to cheese the "never touch the floor" missions.

      Anonymous

It's very situational and will get you killed at higher difficulties unless you are a god at spamming the move where you grab an enemy and spin them around, which is a very difficult move to perform and you can still be hit easily when doing it. The whip is one of the worst weapons in the game. Only recommended for expert players who want to challenge themselves.

Those are like Cs or Ds. On a normal sized woman those weigh 15 or more pounds. Since bayo is like twice the size of a normal woman she's lugging around at least 25-35 pounds of tit.

Bayonetta is an umbra witch. Witch time is the defining technique of her character, along with demon summons. If you can't find a way to make a game with witch time interesting and challenging, then don't make a game about a fricking umbra witch.
