ITT: gaming blackpills

The fact this game completely fricking flopped when it’s incredible and the stupid battle royale respawn developed after it succeeded is proof the gaming industry is a fricking sham. People don’t want good games. They just want streamerbait stupid battle royale shit.
This game is so fricking dead. You literally can’t get into a match without “Connection to server timed out”

Battle royales appeal to morons who get shit on in an arena style shooting game. It encourages looting and third partying instead of trying to change your strategy to kill that one guy on Tribes2 who keeps wrecking your shit.

I have never felt such strong spite and animosity towards a game developer like I do towards Respawn. I'm actually kind of impressing myself.

Yeah, this game failing is a tragedy. It sucks that the franchise now has 0% chance of getting a sequel.

    >See?! Dumb EA, gamers prove they love single player products like the highly marketed God of War! Single player will never die!
    >when just the previous year, shit not advertised on tv every 2 seconds or with a big brand name like Prey and Evil Within 2 flop

I hate them so fricking much

It doesn't help that EA chucked it out to try and grab up some of the CoD audience a month before Infinite Warfare. If they released it mid CoD cycle it would have fared better. The potential Christmas sales were too alluring for the bean counters.

yeah this game is overhyped as hell. it's good, but really it's just a good COD style campaign, which I don't have much respect for in general.

The gaming industry has reached late stage capitalism. Everything created beyond this point will be carefully organized to extract as much money from the consumer as possible. Nothing triple-a will be created with any vision or passion, they will only be constructed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. It's time to take the indie pill.

Cool strawman, gayboy. It's not my fault you can't find good indies in a market flooded with high quality ones
I can easily give you 3 good indies for every good AAA dev game

Eh...support for Titanfall 2 would've been dead years ago anyway even if it was a success with nice playerbase numbers. I think we should count our blessings because look at Apex. You can't look at that game and tell me we're not lucky Titanfall is dead

How is another frustrating lobby waiting simulator battle royale suppose to be a blessing compared to a chill yet high speed fps with giant robots?
      Sounds more like they reverted.

I'm in full agreement, OP. TF|2 is the best FPS of all time. It's only flaw was that some weapons are hitscan and that could easily have been changed if this game got the proper support it deserves. Frick man. I don't even want a sequel. Current year Respawn would frick it up

Yeah, people will pull every excuse from the book to explain why other people or even they themselves refused to buy it during its first few years, and the truth of the matter is that the game was well-advertised, well-detailed, that info regarding its platform availability and single player campaign was known very early on (Day -1 for the latter), there was the beta to drum up interest, and the game got pretty decent support for the first year. Personally, the thing I find the most hilarious is when people keep complaining
    >oh Respawn had to stick with a release date that ended up too close to Call of Duty and Battlefield
as if that isn't illustrating the exact point of hand: people actively chose the average yearly schlock over Titanfall, even the holiday season settled. The fact that they only rallied after it came to Steam and there were a shitton of e-celeb videos talking about le hidden gem shows that they weren't going to check it out otherwise.

It didn't flop, so much as they abandoned it. I really don't get it. DICE for whatever reason has generations of titles running buttery smooth.

it had a terrible release window in an oversaturated market
if it released, like, today, it would have a much better chance

The only read why it bombed was because EA moronicly pushed this game out in November, one week after Call of Duty.

They should have released this during a quiet month like March. That trend is happening among smaller titles. Release it far away from November so it can take the spotlight, and sell millions of units.
