The frick are you talking about. With the exception of literal militaries (who will then pick you up, drag your ass to prison, then heal you), everyone just nickel & dimes you to death.

There's a reason things like fogmen & beakthings stand out. Those frickers will actually kill you.

It's a half baked post apocalyptic simulation game. You can control a squad, build up a base, etc kind of like Rimworld or just play solo in the sandbox if you want. Everything is either half finished or barely implemented but it's way more fun than I make it sound. The combat controls like a RTS and your squadmates can build up stats like in an RPG but it's definitely not an RPG in the traditional sense.

I give it a janky 7/10 and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Wide as an ocean deep as a puddle. Once you understand how to not suck shit there's nothing to do except go fight cat-lon again or spend 300 hours making a settlement that has no impact on the game world. The flag system is very jank and has underbaked impacts on the world. You kill a guy and the settlement changes from greenlander to shek, woohoo. That's cool to a video essayist scrounging for content "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU KILL X" but for normal gameplay it's idgaf.

It's because Warband doesn't make you grind up each troop for 80 hours to have any sort of squad combat and it has evolving gameplay like the hobo -> lord -> king progression. Kenshi you're just the same start to finish but you can punch a guy's arm off.

I tried doing that with a solo, holy nation run and it fricked me in the ass because I would do the questline for the leader by kidnapping the faction leaders and imprisoning them in the capital city. At one point the whole quest just restarted and I found out what happened is that they let their prisoners out to take them to the big slave camp I forget the name of and from there the faction leaders just run away with no resistance. I actually found them on a road while they were running back. So basically I couldn't be a slaver since they all escape from slave camps easily and had to kill them all instead, where my complaints about the minor world changes take place again.

Kenshi has no endgame beyond just imagining a better one in your head. You never have a big faction battle it's just murder hobo start to finish and you can make that shek village a united cities village if you want to (no actual, functional change just different guards)

            >You never have a big faction battle it's just murder hobo start to finish and you can make that shek village a united cities village if you want to (no actual, functional change just different guards)
Idk, I get what you mean but mods fixes mostly all of these, or at least makes them significantly better. You can have worldstate changes (real or pseudo idk how the mod works exactly) and up to 255 units split up into as many squads as you want. Mods in this game are a saving grace and they go crazy

It's super addicting but once you take a break it's impossible to come back to. The second zone is the comfiest part of the game where you just drive the truck back and forth doing massive hauls. The last, zipline hell location is tedious. Also, the "hiking" shit is lame because the game logic clearly marks it out as
        >green: safe to run on
        >yellow: hold triggers and walk on
        >red: slip
And that's pretty much it unless you're climbing shit which is probably the best parts of the game but you don't do it that often.

It's very noticeable on vehicles because the second you touch red your car does a baked in spinout animation that doesn't make any sense towards physics.

Lol what do I do in this game, it's been sitting in my library for a while, i occasionally start it up and create a new character but after an hour of mining or stealing I wander for a bit then get messed up by bandits or creatures

      Anonymous

okay, here's a basic guide for a new player
      >go to squin, it's close to where you start and it's listed on the map
      >get a bag if you can, if not, mine copper till you can. there's a vein close to the gate of squin so you can get help from the guards if you need it
      >mine until you can afford a bag, then mine until you can hire a second person from the bar in town
      >mine to afford food for the two of you and a second bag
      >mine copper when you need money, fill the bags with iron and run up and down the main street to train STR if you want.
      >getting a third person this early is optional but i recomend it
      >get some weapons you like from the town weapon shop and go kill starving bandits, dust bandits will kick your ass at this point
      >buy a house in town if you want so you can start researching things and own some beds, hiring beds gets annoying

that should get you started as a brand new player

frick this nerd and his gay list, nobody wants to mine copper for 30 hours. Hire the hobo in the hub by listening to his story, then immediately go run to the southwest of the map and start hitting the areas that look like aircraft hangers for lost tech, sell the tech to tech hunters. Dont sell to hiver israelites.
Make a base in white man paradise, all you have to do is pray its no big deal. Best soil and crop quality in the game. 2nd best option is in shem enjoy your dust sandwiches and cactus chips.
Also if you hire a robot you can send him on solo missions to carry your tech into the acid rain robot city and sell it for mega cash.

Pelts, son. The secret is head north for them river raptor pelts like any good 18th century frontiersman. They're low stats and won't kill you when you're down. Plus the raptors won't target your medic if they're on passive.

If you're looking for initial funding just follow a holy nation patrol until they come across raptor nest. That shit will net you around 2-4k worth of pelts in a moments. Of course, tactic's gonna be rougher if you're not human male.

this is such a shit way to start kenshi.
        instead:
        >start as a slave
        >continuously escape/steal/fight/assassinate
        >guards keep catching you, putting you back in your cage and healing you.
        >eventually you be good enough to actually escape
        >this whole time you as a player have also been learning to do all these things better too.
        >you can now go wherever you please cause you're like 60 stealth/dodge/lock-picking/martial arts/toughness/athletics

it says "hard" start but it's honestly baby tier impossible to die start.

There is literally nothing to do in Kenshi since it has no story, no goals, and no conclusion. It's just an empty MMO-tier world that you run around in and grind so that you can become more efficient at running around and grinding.

That's what you do in Starsector and Mount and Blade, too. You want a simulation game to be Mass Effect. The problem is your expectations not the game.

save scum at your discretion, fights can play out many different ways, especially with good micro. and learning to micro is huge

You need to think more wisely. If you see bandits then try to run to side and hit the stealth button, you should always be looking around as you travel because danger is around every corner. If they notice you then try to run to a town so the guards slaughter them. If the guards are beating them up then you can join the fight to get some exp too. If you recruit another character then you've already made things a whole lot easier because now the 2nd character can save the 1st in an emergency. It's actually a good thing to get your ass beat in Kenshi because you get a good amount of exp for it. Kenshi is not the typical RPG where you're only punished for losing.
Get a crossbow by the way. Those are busted if you just move your character out the way the second the enemy tries to strike you.
