Not many games dump the remaining ammo in mags anymore. The realistic shooter thing now is keeping track of each individual mag and how much ammo is left in each.
Technically the one that adds the remaining back into the ammo pool is rather realistic.
Military personnel are trained to reload if they know mag has few rounds, the mag with few rounds goes back to the vest's pocket while the full mag goes into the weapon, once you empty the full mag you reinsert the emptier mag you removed early.
You don't throw the mag to the floor, that's just straight up retarded.
I think it's the expanded armory mods for Insurgency that have attachments for a "quick reload" that just speeds it up a bit, and a faster "speed reload" that drops the mag to do it even faster, which is nice although ideally you'd have a way to choose in real time.
i dont think you know what reload cancel means
the new cod has staged reloads, so you start reloading, switch to another gun halfway through and switch back you are still half loaded the first gun
you used to be able to cancel by swapping weapons and the animation wouldnt recommence when switched back to the gun you started reloading and switched away from
>lategame item/ability would have been extremely useful early or midgame >nearly useless by the time you get it
Pokémon, when I want to use a cool one in a playthrough, but it's locked to the postgame
>special game of the year edition comes with game breaking celebratory items and equipment right at the beginning >spend 10 minutes at the beginning of the game skipping through textboxes letting you know you won epic weapons and wacky outfits, sometimes with descriptions that contain story spoilers >you cannot turn this off
Sleeping Dogs, I hate it so much. It also makes you instantly overpowered with all the cars, gear and money.

looting, crafting. these fucking shit ideas have been incorporated into just about every genre of game now and all crafting and looting does is waste your fucking time. i will start using cheat engine before i dig through piles of trash and corpses for junk loot again >try fallout 3/NV, over the course of my playthrough spend literal hours digging through fucking trash, never reinstall >cyberpunk 2077 has a billion guns, oh no wait they only have a few unique ones and you pick up endless clones with slightly adjusted stats
i could go on but you get the point
then they ought to have stuck to the original game more closely. fallout 1 integrated the idea of post apocalyptic survival through it's story, quests and characters while being rather restrained with looting. actually that restraint in lootibg items is a feature of older rpgs i miss. compare baldur's gate 3 to bg1 and you're also presented with much more useless loot, most of which can thankfully be ignored when you build up some cash, but you still need to pick up camp supplies and food. bg3's camp supplies fall into the annoying looting category because with the amount of supplies available it doesn't limit your resting, even on tactician difficulty when it takes twice as much to camp, just another way to waste my time (and whichever devs had to add in the system and a hundred different food items)
>limited sprint that gets more limited the more stuff you carry
I just want to pick stuff up and not sit there contemplating if I want an AK or an M16. I also want to cross the map at some kind of bearable tempo
Not too many games have that feature, and it's usually the tactical ones like Arma. Even then, they have a speed reload that drops the mag so you can reload slightly faster as well as pick up the mag again later, or a more proper reload where you store the mag to be used again later, but your only indication whether the mag is full or nearly empty is a message saying this mag feels heavy/light when reloading.
>looking to get cool magic and strong weapons >sidequest/boss to obtain it is locked until you're almost standing in front of the final boss
Why the fuck not make it a sidequest that's available early game so the player can get it whenever?
What's the point of adding game-breaking shit if you can't have fun with it? It's as retarded as locking the best cars in NFS until after you've beat career mode.
>melee animation locks your camera
im swinging a fucking hammer but i have to treat it like a knife with this hit box shit. not directly up the enemies ass and facing your entire body at him? too bad you missed despite your weapon clipping into their model
soul hackers 2 lets you attack enemies on the field too and 99% of the time it does fucking nothing when entering battle, why even have this feature if it doesn't do anything?
this is why i hate dynamic difficulty. the hard mode of god hand should've just been the default. the worst part is you have to clear the game on normal to unlock it. none of your unlocked moves even carry over so normal feels like a waste of time.
If Hard was the default you never would have completed it, because even being on Level Die for more than a few minutes means you understand what is happening at every moment.

Why the fuck do you have to collect materials for Chalice Dungeons? Holy shit, what the FUCK does this add? Oh great, so instead of hopping right into one I want to do, I have to farm souls for mats to open up the set Chalice Dungeons to farm more mats to make FRC Dungeons I want to do. And why the fuck can't I buy insight post ng? Need Red Jelly? go fuck yourself, buy the mats to remake Lower Loran 6 times, start a new game cycle and rush bosses and pick ups, dupe it using a glitch, or shit in your hands and clap gay. Goddamn, just let me play the part of the game I want to.
>just so shitters can play too
that's not the reason for these mechanics though. In fact, most of them only widen the skill gap because only skilled players will be able to use things correctly. There are other types of skill than clicking on someone. you should know this if you actually like fps games
>Game has stat requirements for weapons which make no fucking sense
This was my biggest issue with FO 3 and NV. The strength requirements for explosive weapons like the Missle Launcher only has a Str requirement of 6 while guns like the Automatic Rifle have a Str requirement of 8
I hate this about souls games as well
fuck stat requirements in general, LET ME USE WHATEVER I WANT. Just make the stat scaling more aggressive if you want a certain weapon to be a "str" weapon or whatever, just make it scale harder with str instead of making me respec my whole build just to see if a weapon is worth using.
It's either so easy to deal with that there's no point for it to be there, or it's sich a huge issue that there's no reason to bother ever using your items.
>JRPG has treasure chests with items in it >Some of those treasure chests are fucking INVISIBLE >Some of those treasure chests have better items in them if you don't open them when you first see them
The final fantasy games are full of bullshit

Maybe stop being a shitter?
Gears of war? No other game has a reload punish gimmick, right?
The realistic games dump the remaining ammo in the mag. Less realistic ones add back to your total.
Not many games dump the remaining ammo in mags anymore. The realistic shooter thing now is keeping track of each individual mag and how much ammo is left in each.
i used to love how the old SOCOM games did this
you had 5 mags and if you left even 1 bullet in the mag it would remember and cycle back through it

In some games it’s R to tactical reload and retain the mag and mash r to speed reload
Enter the Gungeon has the rad gun. Synthetik. EDF Insect Armageddon.
>no other games has a reloading punish gimmick
you wish there's no good shooters post 2006
New CoD has a reload cancel

ArmA, it keeps your half empty mags

fallout is a game about fucking wasteland survival and scavenging, what did you expect
after playing and enjoying fallout 1, it felt like 3 and NV made you spend about 200% more time digging through trash
That's because they do. It's part of the setting but the first two games don't actually make you do that.
then they ought to have stuck to the original game more closely. fallout 1 integrated the idea of post apocalyptic survival through it's story, quests and characters while being rather restrained with looting. actually that restraint in lootibg items is a feature of older rpgs i miss. compare baldur's gate 3 to bg1 and you're also presented with much more useless loot, most of which can thankfully be ignored when you build up some cash, but you still need to pick up camp supplies and food. bg3's camp supplies fall into the annoying looting category because with the amount of supplies available it doesn't limit your resting, even on tactician difficulty when it takes twice as much to camp, just another way to waste my time (and whichever devs had to add in the system and a hundred different food items)

Carry capacity
additional points from griffindor to games that put it in without thinking like BG3

In SMTV you can strike enemies on the field for an advantage, usual JPRG stuff, but there's a chance they'll still go first after striking them.
I'm pretty sure you always have initiative if they don't notice you anon
>melee animation locks your camera

Uhm yes? Reloading after every kill is fucking lame.
>boss has checkpoints
This shit ruins games for me
that shit is insulting beyond belief. it's a sign the dev's have no faith in the player learning the game.
Undermeme.
>game forcibly lowers the difficulty every time you lose and wish to retry
this is why i hate dynamic difficulty. the hard mode of god hand should've just been the default. the worst part is you have to clear the game on normal to unlock it. none of your unlocked moves even carry over so normal feels like a waste of time.

I used to think that the extra time you spent chambering a round was a punishment for magdumping in R6 Vegas
Aiming down sights. Fuck you it's just retarded.
Pretty much every mechanic in BotW is dogshit.
Anything that even remotely annoys me is a dogshit mechanic made by retarded wagies.
>special game of the year edition comes with game breaking celebratory items and equipment right at the beginning
>spend 10 minutes at the beginning of the game skipping through textboxes letting you know you won epic weapons and wacky outfits, sometimes with descriptions that contain story spoilers
>you cannot turn this off
>damage taken is tied to framerate(more fps = more damage taken)
>damage dealt isn't
Console limitations that ruin games. Example: elden ring.
Remember switching to your sidearm is faster than reloading
>Start up game
>Choose body type A or B
>Select pronouns
Fucking hate this shit
>he's never had to fill a magazine
you can't just go brrrrrrap and magically expect more boolit to appear in gun
Why is TF2 the only game in the last two decades that lets you shoot while reloading
Realism can suck my hairy scrotum it's more fun that way
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect and the newer Wolfenstein games let you cancel reloading by shooting. I wish there were more games though.
Why the fuck do you have to collect materials for Chalice Dungeons? Holy shit, what the FUCK does this add? >you have to manually blink every few seconds
kinda neat
but that's kino though, just look at SCP Containment Breach
I liked it in Synthetic Ultimate. It was unique and gave you buffs. But you could turn it off per run.
>Game has fun storytelling flavor content
>Requires you to sacrifice valuable combat resources to access it
>fps game
>barriers
>shields
>armor
>ultimate moves
hate this fucking gay shit just so shitters can play too
I can't even think of a single FPS game that doesn't have at least one of those.
even fucking Doom has armor
>just so shitters can play too
that's not the reason for these mechanics though. In fact, most of them only widen the skill gap because only skilled players will be able to use things correctly. There are other types of skill than clicking on someone. you should know this if you actually like fps games
You need to develop trigger discipline you gay. Stop complaining
>enemy has sweet looking armour and weapons
>kill enemy
>no loot or something inconsequential like some pocket lint
Biggest downgrade in Nuthesda
>Game has stat requirements for weapons which make no fucking sense

Weapon or item degradation of any form.
