I really should play through the whole series one of these days. I actually spent the last couple of weeks playing ME3 MP so that sort of got the drive to play ME out of my system for now. My issue with the series is i really can't find a class in singleplayer that i like enough to play through all 3 games. I think next time i give it a try i am gonna go for shotgun infiltrator because i fricking hate the forced slowmotion in singleplayer and tactical cloak is a cool enough main power. I wish engineers had the ME3 turret as a power instead of the drone. The actual physical thing is much cooler than a floating hologram ball.
>overly intensified, unnatural fog volumes
Every AAA game is doing this now and it's absolutely obnoxious. We didn't get closer to realism at all, we've strayed from it.
Don't even look at it, it's worse in quite literally everything. It made ME1 easier by letting you use all weapons regardless of class and added new bugs too.
I swear, what is it with modern devs and lighting?
Is it because they don't go outside and don't know what the real world looks like?
Modern engines can't do old lightning so they just strap generic everything everywhere and call it a day.
Also it's a remaster so they're not putting their brightest devs on it and they're also not giving them any time or money since it's just a quick cash grab
Old devs had limitations so they used tasteful baked lighting, they framed scenes and colors around this idea. When a group of morons a decade later is tasked with "remastering" the game they simply slap the brand new shiny defaul UE lighting and call it a day not realizing the old game was made with the old lighting in mind
Actually it's kind of the opposite. You don't tend to get high contrast like that in real world unless you under light a scene... which is what competent art directors do because it looks good.
When they remake things, they take the lighting and just apply it evenly everywhere.
Don't even look at it, it's worse in quite literally everything. It made ME1 easier by letting you use all weapons regardless of class and added new bugs too.
I remember ME1 being ass to play because its so old but other than that nothing much
Did they at least change the shitty things like multiplayer in me3 or romance options or is it just a 1-1 wow 4k ultra improvement
There has not been one good remaster. Every remaster is worse than it's original release aside from "the numbers". >It can do 60fps** >It can hit 1920x1080**
But on every artistic level they are horrid.
As far as environments go, D2R looks better than the original in every way. Drop-dead gorgeous, but feels the same, and all sorts of little autistic details were preserved.
>There has not been one good remaster.
Skyward Sword HD is better than the original in every single way. Technical and gameplay wise as it fixed a good bunch of the stuff people didn't like in the original
Where's the contrast? You can't even see anything past 15 meters because of the fog. You can't even see the details on clothes because of the shadows and everything is generally gray
>not been a good one yet
You talking all remasters? Anything that’s basically a direct port on new hardware seems to be doing alright.
As for regular remasters, Diablo II was really good. So was Age of Empires II: Definitive edition. For remakes both Dea Space and RE4 look super promising.
>Diablo II was really good. So was Age of Empires II: Definitive edition. For remakes both Dea Space and RE4 look super promising
you're a real shit eating goyslop connoisseur
Only the best 'slop for him. Also, you guys know that guy who keeps a continuously updated list on all the woke remakes that have failed? Someone should do a list of remakes that were actually good. One that is v approved. Admittedly, it would most likely be a pretty short list, but still...
>top pic: death itself arrives on a planet >bottom pic: beautiful alien ship touching down gracefully on a sunny day
This is what happens when you let diversity hires take a game from a better time made by better people and let them slather their lack of artistic sense all over it
No it's not. The Switch version was its own entity and took longer to release. It's barely even remastered, it should have just be called Prepare To Die: Blightown Locked Framerate Edition.
proof that the demaster morons and bamco didnt give a frick whatsoever is the space in the helmet where one would see eyes
in original it pitch black, giving the impression of anonimity and mystery
in demaster the lighting is so fricked up you can see the literal black bar in that space, as if the helmet has sunglasses
nah the original ds1 just had a shit focus system
you can even see it in two in the demon of song water area, anything further than a meter arena is just out of focus
Eh.
Graphically its better.
I like some of the new weapons.
A bunch of the music was pointlessly changed for the worse.
Rachel's sections suck ass but are brief enough that I let them slide.
The tree moving with the wind in this specific cutscene is the only thing better in the original, this is one of the rare cases where the remake makes the original worthless
my theory is that this shit is the gateway drug to ME4
Nobody played andromeda but every oldgay is dying for this so here's the plan they had >only old people played the past games >we are making a new one >gotta port characters over but nobody has them >re-release every game in one big shitpile so normalgays get in on this >make mass effect 4 only compatible with legendary edition characters or some shit >profit by making everybody buy it again
You just know me4 is going to cost 80$
The moment Bioware shows that the next game will not have Shepard and the old cast, as its main characters, but rather only Liara and maybe some 3 minute cameos, all interest in that game is going to deflate.
ME4 will literally never happen, just like DA4 will never happen
Bioware is unironically dead
DA4 is happening. It's probably about a year and a half away. Even if it flops, and EA turns Bioware into EA Edmonton, ME4 is happening, as well.
Problem is at this point mass effect NEEDS to have everything the old games had. Shepard, the old cast, the old missions etc
It will be the last chance to resurrect the franchise after andromeda and they fricking know it
If it has even a fragment of lootboxes and multiplayer its gonna flop, if there's a new shepard its gonna flop, if god forbid they don't reuse characters or even worse show the dead bodies of the rest of the crew its gonna flop
EA is scared shitless of making a new ME because of that
>Problem is at this point mass effect NEEDS to have everything the old games had. Shepard, the old cast, the old missions etc
You don't need to tell me.
I just don't think Mike Gamble and co. understand that, and even if they do, are willing to bite the bullet and do it.
After ME3, the franchise is in the diminishing returns place. Unless something drastic is done, it's not picking back up, and clearly they have no clue where to take this next, or what to do in general. The entire point of this game, is to give scraps to the community, so they can go back to Andromeda the next time, fully committed. I don't particularly care about Andromeda, never did, and never will. Bioware can do what they want, and get any and all the success they can, without me.
That doesn't work for me, Eden Prime is a huge colony with 4 million people living in it; the site of the prothean beacon and the location of Javik's pod could be in two completely different locations. I'm fine with them adding ME3 assets in the background but the idea with Eden Prime in ME1 is that Jenkins tells you it's a paradise colony then you get there and it looks like literal hell because of Sovereign. Washing it with pretty colors in LE is moronic.
>Old: Killing a guy ain't no big deal. You just put a gun to their head... and POW!
>New: I never wanted to kill anyone, James. They made me do it. They hurt me, so I hurt 'em back. It's no big deal, though. Like, who's gonna miss another nasty bully? I'm doing people a favor. Just take my gun and shoot 'em, right in their noggin'. Like, it's super easy to kill someone who hurts you.

It is Overlord

How the frick were they able to let you see so far off into the distance without any of that shit fog but the new games all use that moronic shit?
the answer is modern environment artists think fog looks cool and do it on purpose
>overly intensified, unnatural fog volumes
Every AAA game is doing this now and it's absolutely obnoxious. We didn't get closer to realism at all, we've strayed from it.
It 100% did not look this dark in the original game. Maybe if you completely turned down the brightness or something.

Lol. Glad I didn't by this trash. Literally ruined the fricking game
Never played legendary edition,
Should i consider it if i have all the og games and dlc?

They didn't port the multiplayer and everything else is just a 1-1 wow 4k ultra improvement
Make no mistake, it was ass to play on release too. ME1's best feature was never gameplay.
Why did they touch the lighting and make it inferior? Why couldn't they just leave it alone?
mostly likely, the more they change the more the studio can bill for their services.
In that case no, and for the few bugfixes that they actually made there's probably a mod for them that does it better
Looks 100s of times better. Adds much needed and fitting color to that shit brown game.
moronic zoomer
at one point you are gonna have to drop the nostalgia glasses
Imagine calling someone an -oomer because he criticized the incredibly rich color palette of RE4.
Literally touch sex and have grass.
>while praising the remake that also looks brown
dumb trooner
as someone fresh off playing resident evil 4 on my old PS2 i can honestly say that the new re4 looks better and you are in fact nostalgia gogglin'
shit eating crapcom drone

>It can do 60fps**

But on every artistic level they are horrid.
That's a remake.
iirc didnt the face model changes break a bunch of facial animations
The System Shock 1 and 2 and Turok 1 and 2 remasters were great.
System Shock 2 remaster is still in development and the enhanced edition of 1 is hardly a remaster.
>updated to work on modern systems and resolutions with bugfixes and optional QOL stuff
That's all a remaster should be.
As far as environments go, D2R looks better than the original in every way. Drop-dead gorgeous, but feels the same, and all sorts of little autistic details were preserved.
ME1 remaster is a genuine improvement over the original game in every way aside from some shadows.

how does it look better? fog and blur? moron
moar cobblestone and ferns = moar better
"UN FORASTELLO!"
Eh, I think the contrast is better in the remake.
Where's the contrast? You can't even see anything past 15 meters because of the fog. You can't even see the details on clothes because of the shadows and everything is generally gray
What is "all of them?"
Simply not true.
name 5 remasters that look better than the original
mass effect is soulless trash. imagine wasting your time playing that crap
I think they've all been worse; don't think there's been a good one yet. And my folder keeps growing.
C&C was breddy gud
Never tried it, but well, that must be a massive exception to what seems to be a cosmic rule.

ME1 was so fricking kino. ME2 was absolutely lacking and 3 attempted to get that kino back, but ultimately failed.
>when the remaster is so bad it looks worse than the switch version
The funny thing is the remaster is a port of the Switch version. Something was fricked up backporting it to consoles and PC.
What the frick are you talking about? The Switch version released after the remaster
No it's not. The Switch version was its own entity and took longer to release. It's barely even remastered, it should have just be called Prepare To Die: Blightown Locked Framerate Edition.
You're confusing Dark Souls with Dragon Quest

God damn this is an absolute atrocity, but the remaster is so much easier get going play/performance-wise on PC
This looks like the camera is just focusing on two separate things
nah the original ds1 just had a shit focus system
you can even see it in two in the demon of song water area, anything further than a meter arena is just out of focus
Probably makes rendering shit easier or something. I remember being surprised how "fast" DS2 felt at launch.
it didn't have a "focus system" it just had static DOF blur
I wish more games had manual DOF like that. It is a great way of hiding the LODs.
>when everything is blurred but the main character
>this is somehow a point for the original because well uhhhh saturation and shiny
Yes depth of field in specific cases is nice.
you literally cannot even see anything but your guy
depth of field is a shitty effect almost no one does right
Specific cases? Like most of the game?
they also fricked up the specularity on metals in the remake and butchered the lighting in various levels
Sigma 1 is a good example of a good Remaster, though these things were not called that back then.
Eh.
Graphically its better.
I like some of the new weapons.
A bunch of the music was pointlessly changed for the worse.
Rachel's sections suck ass but are brief enough that I let them slide.

>you can see its star on each and every planet
This pisses me off so much. Why do they hate clouds?
At least the originals got put on Xbox back compat but they cost more than the Legerdary edition if you don't grab them on sale
They're also on gamepass, the problem is they're 720p 30fps. They'll never bother to update them because the remasters exist.
all of them
This change was most likely to be consistent with Eden Prime in ME3, which I have no problem with.
They changed the way reaper glassing worked in 3 so changed it here too
Except Sovereign still takes off in the same way with the same fumes in LE
It's this that they butchered, so they changed the skies too
So they butchered something either way
they probably just thought that it was stupid that Sovereign would turn the entire sky red and changed it so it would look more Realistic
All of them?
Surprised nobody has posted this yet
i really wonder what they are gonna do with the overly weird dialogue with the other characters.
Like, it's super easy to kill someone who hurts you.
the fable remaster sucks complete dick. it also butchers the lighting so everything feels off.
ME I guarantee you was designed with a specific art style in mind.
The remaster just bulldozes it with modern technology.
From Sylvester Stallone to Jake Gyllenhaal
It looks worse until you see them in motion. Alan Wake has some of the worst lipsync ever.

Are the Kiwami versions of Yakuza fricked in this way? I want to play the series at some point but not sure if the remasters are good or not.
Yes they fricked a lot of things. Also it use models from like Yakuza 5 which make the MC look like a time traveler that never age through the games
Thanks. I guess I'll just emulate as much as possible then.
