bw2's story is a continuation of bw's (think gsc happening after rby). i'll recommend to play bw first if you're a lore gay but obviously it's not mandatory if you wanna jump straight in to bw2

Different story, vastly different path through the map, different gym leaders, way different selection of wild Pokemon pre-E4. Are you unable to comprehend the idea of another plotline set in the same region?

            Play:
            Your preferred color first
            The matching color sequel second...

Then the other two in any order. You will have access to all the Pokemon and Keys that way.

            Also:
If you play Black 2 first, it unlocks the key for challenge mode you can send to White 2. If you play White 2 first, it unlocks a key for easy mode that you can send to Black 2. So Black/Black 2 first is probably better.
If you have a 3DS and can load cia files, get Dream Radar. It lets you transfer a bunch of items and neat hidden ability pokes to B2W2. Their levels depends on how many badges you have. Do it early and you can get level 10 legendaries.

Gen 5 is dull as frick and I've thought that since 2010

I thought BW were wack early on, but with the sequels it's a great generation.

Make sure you play the same color for both 1 and 2, it'll keep various story elements consistent.

Yeah, don’t be a dumbass like child me and get White then Black 2 because I liked Zekrom more than Reshiram

Play one of BW first, then B2W2. For best results, play the same color 2 game as you played of the originals.

Yeah, I thought I would be clever and get White 2 after Black 1 so as to have one of each color. Now I don't have a Zekrom.

If you want a different experience from the majority of the other games, play BW first
If you just want to play the peak of Pokémon play BW2

I'd say both are worth playing but not back to back. bw2's mid game has very similar content to that of bw1 so you might burn yourself out unless you take a break in between. But if you're the type that can play the same game twice in a row and keep your momentum go for it.

Why would you ever play games outside of release order? Would you start the Saw series with 2? Would you read Huckleberry Finn's book before Tom Sawyer's?

I don't understand the logic behind threads like these.

BW has better story, BW2 has more to do

Of course BW1 first. What kind of moronic question is that? You won't understand the lore if you haven't played one and you'll spoil yourself if you play BW1 after.

Don't, but if you must pick Black or White then play its sequel. Be ready for a ton of unskippable dialogue and cutscenes, an evil team who drops all pretense 5 seconds into the game, a bunch of bootleg clones of gen 1 mons, the best bug types to grace the franchise ever, and a ton of forced detours to do stupid minigames that suck ass.
