              Xenoblade Chronicles
              Bayonetta

They're all diff interpretations of god, and a hundred other jap turn-based games probably follow this same trope but are too unknown to see the light of day.

Doesn't apply to a single one of these games, and Bayonetta isn't even a jRPG. You're a fricking moron.

Zanza isn't god. That's the whole fricking point. He's patently not cut out to run even a part of a shitty simplified simulation universe. His attempt to take control of the whole thing doesn't make him god, even of the simulation.

I'm ok with this stupid shit if you actually see the character getting stronger.
KH2 is a good example with Sora doing more ridiculous shit as you progress the game. it really feels like you're getting stronger.

KH3 is an example of the opposite. Pure garbage where you feel there is no character growth. In fact sora gets weaker.
he actually gets knocked out like a useless homosexual from a character lightly falling on him in one of the end-game fights and then cries like a b***h.
it was so moronic nomura tried to retcon it in a DLC.

FF7 """"remake"""" project is the worst example by far. It's such trash. There is zero character growth, zero consistency. Cloud is too strong in cutscenes from the start.
and then is a weak ass b***h for no fricking reason. then it blows its load and turns into advent children weeb garbage before the party is even out of midgar and then part 2 comes along and they pretend it didn't happen. all your materia and skills and weapons are gone.
Cloud has already fought a bunch of universe warping, time traveling gods yet him and the party get knocked out by a bunch of level 1 thugs in a cutcene. it's such dogshit The person who wrote it should be stabbed to death.

What's with the Japanese wanting to kill god in their video games and media so much?

      Anonymous

      A combination of
      >Non-monotheistic view of divinity, as well as one in which the ascension of individuals to divinity is more palatable than in Judeochristian thought
      >From a historical perspective, Japanese history is full of "divine" entities that were quite literally overthrown, a la the de-mystification of the Emperor
      >Many JRPG tropes were cemented in the 90s, right after the bubble economy of the 80s crashed and the new god of Capitalism was pretty much slain in the eyes of many young and creative folks
      >"Killing god" is an acceptable form of rebellion that appeals to those who feel constrained by the rigidity of Japanese society. You rage against the machine in games because you can't rage against your boss IRL. Same thing with why high school settings are so common in anime/manga/LNs; it's about nostalgia for a time where you weren't constrained by "adult society".

Of course, not every game sets out to really explore those reasons, but that's where the tropes come from.

Pretty sure there was a 2 hours video essay on youtube explaining that. Basically, every failed power structure in japanese history was always made legitimate by the divinity of the ruler, whether it was the shogunate or the imperial army during ww2 and some others I might have forgotten. Every time the structure crumbles, the common people get more and more disillusioned with the idea of of godhood itself and became the target of people who wanted to move away from those failures.

Because God is the strongest homie there is in the story so it looks cool and feel powerful to kill him. It's no different than WW2 games letting you kill Hitler. Any other explanation is just pseudo-intellectuals navel-gazing.

      >kill god
It's usually kill a god, not kill the singular god. Japanese religion has lots of gods, some good and some evil, so the idea of killing one god isn't that huge. Sometimes they do want you to kill God though, but most of the time it's killing one out of control god while many other gods still exist in universe.

They don't, Japan just isn't squeamish about powers other than the Christian God™ using holy/angelic motifs. Sephiroth isn't God, Kefka isn't God, Americans in the 90s were just morons whose brains shut down as soon as they saw the design had a white feathered wing or a halo on it.

Don't worry - you get one (1) opportunity much later on to undo it if you don't like Blood Water. She's kind of hard to use and inflexible compared to Water I with her alternate forms.
