Can't it be both. The lack of recommendations says it all about indie games, though. Should just be able to list the games without commentary if they're so great an alternative.
Even assuming you're one of those people who consider story to be irrelevant in a game, you've still got games like Hollow Knight, Underrail, Ultrakill, Factorio and Spacechem. All of them superior to their AAA counterparts.
He means that he wants to play games that have the cultural influence amd production values of AAA games but he doesn't want to put up with garden gnome practices like microtransactions and unfinished goyslop.
So, indie games are bad because the graphics are shit and don't have fully voice acted and choreographed cutscenes. And his friends aren't playing it.
Name one indie (short for "independent") that competes with a great AAA game in every regard. An actual alternative isn't just "similar, but with lower tech and retro graphics".
Since AAA games suck now, show me the indie games that can replace what I want from AAA.
Indie games, by definition, will never be able to match AAA production values. But if you're the kind of retard who prefers Hollywood garbage over arthouse cinema, then you deserve everything that's coming to you.

Good list given the games I've played on it. Furi's soundtrack is so good that I sometimes listen to it outside the game itself.
Also, Hollow Knight. Ganker loves to shit on the game, but it's actually fantastic if you enjoy metroidvanias and/or art.
Because most AAA games are soulless garbage nowadays
Indie games have always existed and you always played them, it's just that now they receive this specific label since the AAA scene is so bad
they're (usually) passion projects, and lack of passion is one of the reasons AAA games fucking suck. Doesn't guarantee the game will be good but frankly at this point an indie game with actual effort put into it puts it a step or two above normal AAA. At the end of the day the distinction is arbitrary. If you want a good game, try our a game and see if it's good. If bad, stop playing, if good, mission accomplished.
>an indie game with actual effort put into it puts it a step or two above normal AAA
For at least the last decade, no doubt. I only made this thread to get some recommendations and illustrate why indie is not an alternative to AAA games (the shitposting was just to rile up anons) A good AAA game and an indie game (though not mutually exclusive) are typically appealing to different wants.
The thing people lament about AAA is not being able to enjoy the cutting edge anymore. Indie games can and do give us reiterations of past triumphs and some new ideas here and there, but the loss of the best games also being the most technologically advanced and fully featured is what's causing people to say things like "games are dead". "Just play indie" is a retreat into the past for the most part.
You complain about AAA games, you were suggested an alternative.
Name one indie that's an actual alternative to AAA games and not just a sad cope.
>No one says that.
People say it all the time.
only here people say that and even they are mainly just trolls.
>AAA is shit
>well obviously indies can't compare to the quality of AAA
Leave the hobby, you clearly just hate videogames
>can't name any
Exactly what I thought.
He doesn't hate vidya, he's just a prototypical Ganker contrarian trying to mimic what he thinks a "Gankerner" sounds like.
OP doesn't want recs. He wants to entertain himself by arguing in circles and watching retards try to refute his troll logic.

Boring retro-cope trash.
>Hollow Knight, Underrail, Ultrakill, Factorio and Spacechem.
lmao
>Name one indie that's an actual alternative to AAA games and not just a sad cope
What the fuck does that even mean? Are you autistic?
He means that he wants to play games that have the cultural influence amd production values of AAA games but he doesn't want to put up with garden gnome practices like microtransactions and unfinished goyslop.

Also have a nice day for good measure.
>what I want from AAA.
What do you want? Production values?
Sure.
AAA games are quite literally defined by having high production values.
Couldn't a rich guy make a game independently? That means "indie" is not defined by low production values.
Indie games, by definition, will never be able to match AAA production values. But if you're the kind of retard who prefers Hollywood garbage over arthouse cinema, then you deserve everything that's coming to you.
>Indie games, by definition, will never be able to match AAA production values.
Then why play indie games? Sounds like they are no alternative to AAA.
No one says that. You should play AA-AAA games from 2003-2015 though
because some of them are cool and fun
it's a polarising genre because so many of them are trash and then some of my favourite games ever are indie
indie is not a genre
>some of my favourite games ever are indie
Like?

Thanks for the list. Some of those are good, so I'll look at the ones I've never heard of.

Does modern AA exist? Does something like Clash: Artifacts of Chaos or Little Witch Nobeta classify as AA or indie?
Hifi rush came out this year
AA is in the 100k-2million dollar range for budget.
Think of Yooka Laylee or Kingdom Cum.
I'm not OP but the graphics on those games are unplayable.
>cartoon game is unplayable
The fuck is wrong with you
>just play video games (made by smaller studios/amount of people)
I don't see why not?
>?
Is that how you end statements when speaking with your actual voice? If so, have a nice day.
You dont end statements in any way when speaking with your actual voice because you're a basement dweller virgin

Are Coyotes pronounced as Coy-o-ties or Coy-otes because I keep hearing the later pronounced by coyote hunters
Real people say ky-oh-tee
Just go back to playing your AAA games that are identical to each other except for a new coat of paint.
Then die.

I only play FromSoft RPGs. The only games AAA or otherwise I will ever need.
