rare moment of weakness. ive honestly wanted a saturn for a really long time as a passive interest so describing it as an impulse buy might not be accurate. but after i bought it i realized i shouldve tried one of the panzer dragoon games on emulator before biting the bullet on a saturn. doubt id regret the purchase though if i were to be honest at the very least

I wanted to call OP an idiot but I checked ebay and Saturns now go for $100+. I remember getting mine for like $40 with a few games. Shit truly is turning into the new Neo Geo in the collector market.

you can say that about anything over the past 10 years. i got my Dreamcast (about 10 years ago) on ebay for $40 and it came with 3 games, 2 controllers and 2 VMUs. You can now expect to pay over $100 for just the console.

This is the one Saturn game with extra copy protection and is a pain in the ass to get pirated copies to work on console

          thanks man, rly appreciate it

Awesome decision OP, this is the right way to do it. Go in head first and spend time with your purchase instead of meekly trying 10 minutes of a game in an emulator. When you seek to get the most out of something that takes up space next to you and cost you some money you will end up enjoying it more.

Play all the great action games and shooters on there. Games like Cotton 2 and its spinoff, Elevator Action Returns, Psychic Killer Taromaru, the recent games that have been English translated like Bulk Slash, and enjoy your time with Panzer Dragoon as a trilogy, there's really nothing quite like it.

what makes this special for me too is that i decided this was my gift for myself for getting through finals and getting my associates degree in CS. unfortunately that hasnt happened yet (2 more weeks left) but by the time the saturn arrives finals will be over. actually havent purchased a game since persona 3 reload on sale, which i havent even played yet lol
always been horrible at video games (i play them for the experience not really for a sense of accomplishment) so i dont play too many arcade/shootemup games but ive had my eye on radiant silvergun actually. bulk slash and burning rangers as well

never had any problems with my modchip, but I imagine that's too complex for zoomies.

It’s a great game. It’s not worth the insane asking price for the English version, pirated is the way to go.
If you see a giant ship sitting there and not attacking, don’t blow it up, try to go inside.

Im probably alone in thinking this, but i think they missed out on not making this game completely or nearly textless. As in, delivery of all the cutscenes in a made up language and just tell the story visually or through a runic system that lets the player piece some parts of it together. I actually thought that was how the game was supposed to be for the first 45 minutes i played it back when I tried the jap version originally.

There's a reason the game is in another language for the opening and ending, but the majority of it is in Japanese.

Oh man I forgot about the Japanese audio. They really blew it a bit by not committing all the way with the fake language. I mean come on

The reason it's in Japanese is because the spirit of the player is now guiding Edge after he is killed, you're the divine visitor in the game the seekers talk about.

I need to sleep on this to decide if this is genius or complete bullshit. It could really go either way. I'll let it slide for now though

The game calls you out by name and edge thanks you for guiding him at the very end.

note that the guy just spoiled you the twist ending of the game.

I usually can’t get into RPGs but this one got me interested. I liked the combat system, the story and the exploration. Thats basically the whole game. I’m mostly an action game guy though, and I think this game appeals to people who aren’t into traditional RPGs. I tend to drop RPGs due to boredom unless they’re either baby’s first RPG or unconventional and somehow interest me, so my recommendation might not mean much. Only ones I’ve played through to the end are Final Fantasy 1, Pokemon Gen 1, Earthbound, Dragonforce, Paper Mario, Mario RPG, Shining Force 1,2,3, Golden Sun and this. Panzer Dragoon Saga or pokemon might be my favorite. I think I’ll try Skies of Arcadia or FF7 next, if I ever play another one.

Saga is a great game to play, but it's hard for me to replay even with just the ~15 hour playtime. The encounter variety is really limited.
