Just spilled coffee on my expensive gaming laptop and it INSTANTLY died. How do PC gamers live knowing that risk is always there compared to consoles that are always away from you as you drink and dine?
Just spilled coffee on my expensive gaming laptop and it INSTANTLY died. How do PC gamers live knowing that risk is always there compared to consoles that are always away from you as you drink and dine?
where do you think my PC is retard
>brown slopdrink
Serves you right for not drinking tea, the white man's favorite beverage
>bongs* (second) favorite bevarage
tea is the bugmen drink
I'd park it
>titty fuck
>more like gut fuck
>front butthole
as a burger lad I agree tea kicks ass, but you bonglards piss me off
I've fried 2 GPUs and a PSU by spilling tea through my PC like the retard I am. I have not moved my PC since and it will happen a third time.
nigga just buy a bottle like this
and you're never going to spill anything again
I love to spill tea- and I will continue to spill tea.
Based and spillpilled
We need more spillers in the world.
i spilled tea and fried my 2013 razor blackwidow ultimate that still worked perfectly earlier this year
rip best keyboard ever
>brown slopdrink
literally nobody calls it that. only on Ganker do you people call anything you dislike 'slop' 'onions' etc.
Ganker lingo is a step below nagger talk.
>
laptop
My strix is better than 80% of the rigs I've seen on here.
smartest coffee drinker
one time i tried to use a can of compressed air to get dust out of my laptop fan but i turned the can sideways and it sprayed a ton of wet white foamy shit all over the motherboard and bricked it
I literally bathed my mb in isopropil because, you guessed it, I splooged thermal paste over CPU pins and it's fine.
fuck dude. what else did you ruin by doing that? you don't want that shit anywhere anything that's not your cpu. even if I have to wipe it off it the cloth goes straight in the garbage.
Thermal paste or isopropil? paste doesn't conduct electricity. You could paint your mobo with it if you avoided connectors, dunno what it'd do to the thermals though.
thermal paste
dude you don't even want that paste on your fingers. you know what it's made out of right?
>you know what it's made out of right
Potentially a lot of different things
>Thermal paste consists of a polymerizable liquid matrix and large volume fractions of electrically insulating, but thermally conductive filler. Typical matrix materials are epoxies, silicones (silicone grease), urethanes, and acrylates; solvent-based systems, hot-melt adhesives, and pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes are also available. Aluminum oxide, boron nitride, zinc oxide, and increasingly aluminum nitride are used as fillers for these types of adhesives. The filler loading can be as high as 70–80% by mass, and raises the thermal conductivity of the base matrix from 0.17–0.3 W/(m·K) (watts per meter-kelvin)[1] up to about 4 W/(m·K)
don't get it on your hands
who gives a fuck
just don't lick your fingers
or touch your eyes, or food, or anything
well yeah that's a given, who touches food with dirty hands?
fast food workers
you pay for slop and you get slop, what do you expect
Aluminum nitride is potentially dangerous. But the rest aren't that bad
>used to spread thermal paste with my fingers
at least you're honest
You honestly sound like a pussy. How many of those will cause damage through limited contact with your skin?
Literally nothing will happen. The guy is a pussy.
If you had read the instructions written right on the fucking can, you would've known to keep it upright you retard.
>turn can around
>"use only in vertical position! Do not shake before use!"
just get an electric blower, chemical 'compressed air' is a waste of money and works terribly
If you're retarded enough to own a 'gaming laptop', I'm sure you'd find a way to spill your drink over a console too, no matter how far away it would be.
>drinking anything while gaming without a lid on it
>leaving it near something that would be ruined if you spilt aomething on it
This could have been avoided OP. You should have been more careful. RIP OP's laptop.
It's a hard learned lesson. About 20 years ago, I had an open cup of tea on my desk. My kid (toddler at the time) threw a ball in no particular direction. Hit the cup of tea, spilled on the tower PC below it. Never again had an open lid at my desk, at never again put a PC below desk level.
>gaming laptop
You realize most people with an actual machine would just have to replace their keyboard at worst?
I've lived 40 years without pouring a hot drink into my electronics, then again I'm not a drooling imbecile you might need a sippy cup or something
I literally have my pc sitting on my desk completely exposed & nothing bad has happened to it
I even accidentally shorted it trying to make a custom case & it still runs like nothing happened lmfao
>custom case
Unironically based and arts-and-craftscorepilled casing though
Nah I tried to make it with a random junction box, I took out a piece of an older computer that the motherboard is supposed to go on but I accidentally bent it a bit so it shorted a part of it.
Still works like absolutely nothing happened so idfk maybe I'm just lucky
my boomer dad makes custom cases. they're pretty sweet. he took his old kawasaki ninja sprocket and used it as a trim for a vent on my old pc.
That sounds dope, I wanna try my hand at making a case again but I wanna get some more parts before I do it, I literally got the PSU/RAM out of the garbage & it's been working completely fine for the past year/two lol
yeah dude. I actually sold that old pc to some dumb chick on Facebook market place for $400. it had an old r7 370 in it. I was kind of sad to see it go just because of the case.
That sucks, still got pics of the case?
unfortunately no. it was one of those white mini cases that had plastic fins on the top and bottom that held it up. he cut squares in the sides and put clear plexiglass to see the inside. red led lighting, and it was was thermal cooled, with a radiator
>it was was thermal cooled, with a radiator
reading this made me retarded
sorry it was liquid cooled
just like op, but it was contained
I sold it about 3 years ago, and I got a new phone around the same time, so I don't have any images of it. I could ask my dad if he still has pics of it. hold on I'll text him
>gaming laptop
there's a reason there was a rule about no food or drinks in the computer lab 20+ fucking years ago. most of my PC are keyboards have died due to spilling rum on them though.
>PC gamer
>laptop
???
>laptop
underage
I don't eat or drink near my laptop?
In fact I have it connected to my tv like 10 feet away.
Don't pay attention to my gaming sister
if you must play with a "gaming" laptop this is the way to do it.
>gaming sister
did you two seggsed
Irrelevant and off topic
I'm with everyone else in this thread. what the fuck are you doing?
>gaming laptop
I spilled coffee on my lenovo laptop last year and its still working perfectly a year later lol. I also blew an inductor in it when changing the ram due to a spark and it still works fine.
>just DONT EAT AND DRINK
if you don't drink and eat snacks while gaming, that's not real.
>on my expensive gaming laptop
>How do PC gamers
laptops are not PCs.
You have a console with an internet browser.
>coffee while gaming
Gay
hehheh guess you could say i just like living on the edge >;)
>laptop
OP is an idiot and a homosexual.
a tale as old as time
>gaming laptop
lmao
play stupid games, win stupid prizes
>gaming laptop
>laptop
you're as bad as console plebs
>laptop
Just look up the parts that were shorted and solder on some new ones.
My PC isn't on my desk you dumb cunt.
Laptop gamers get the rope.
If you spilled coffee on your console it would also probably die.
I dropped my gamecube out a 3 story window back in the day and it worked perfectly fine afterwards.
But we're not talking about tech from 22 years ago, we're talking about modern tech. If you dropped a switch or ps5 out a window or spilled coffee on it, they'd both likely die.
why was old tech stronger?
money
Just have your computer on the otherside of your desk or elevated so if you do spill it won't get wet
what does this even mean
>what does this even mean
People should spill their drinks more. Getting liquids on everything is your civic duty.
appliances were built to last.
Less complex, means you can spend more money and physical space (comparatively) on the housing. The GC hardware didn't require multiple large fans, the memory was way smaller, etc. Plus couch co-op was basically the norm so it was expected you would move the thing around (hence the carry handle), whereas today online is the norm so it's not expected you will often move your console so it can feasibly be less durable.
my PC is like 6ft away from me
although I did once spill Dr Pepper on a brand new expensive gayming keyboard
I drink coffee like water, hell for a couple of years i stopped drinking water by itself and just drank coffee since it's just flavored water. A few weeks back i decided to try tea, i tried it without sugar like coffee but it tasted like ass so i added some honey. And for the first time in my entire fucking life i spilled that shit on my laptop, thankfully it still works but the sugar in the tea is making some keys sticky. The only time i drink something with sugar it spills on my pc
>owning a laptop
>a gaming laptop that costs more than a regular gaming comp
>being retarded with drinks around laptops
I get that you're an idiot, but what does that have to do with the rest of your post?
*blocks ur path*
Why are you black?
what??
I was drinking coffee and I laughed so hard I spilled a few drops on my craptop. Had to replace the damn keyboard but because Anus is shit company I had to melt plastic rivets with soldering iron to attach new keyboard to the chassis.
I hate how electronics are made to become trash as soon as single part breaks.
>expensive gaming laptop
Bait. Snoy is still mad about not having games kek
>dump half a can of monster into my keyboard
>dry it, disassemble it and clean it as best I can
>still so unusably sticky I give up and hose it off with water
>it somehow survives and lives to this day
thanks ducky
You can hose electronics with water without any issues, the catch is that you have to dry it for multiple days and then maybe clean it to remove residue.
>gaming laptop
Deserved.
Works on my machine
In all the years I've been using a PC I've only spilled my drink on my keyboard once, and it just made the keys sticky. It was a shitty free keyboard so I just replaced it with another shitty $5 keyboard. Maybe you should try not using a laptop and to not spill liquid on electronics
PC games don't use laptops.
I never eat or drink when I play.
always take breaks
That's what I do. When I want to eat, I will go and do that like normal person.
yeah man. fuck trying to eat something while you're gaming, or on the pc. I just pop in my free premium youtube apk and watch videos while I eat "like a normal person" too
with pic related
I never spilled anything over my machines and even if i did i bet they would be fine
I spilled a whole ass cup of Iced Tea on my G601 keyboard and it was fine. Unplugged it, took it apart, washed it so it wouldn't be sticky, dried it off with an old hairdryer, and put it back together in under an hour.
Why the fuck you drinking shit next to a laptop?
Huh? What's wrong with gaming laptops?
Well you can spill coffee on them for one.
Just don't put the coffe on your table.
No, but it seems you are if you can't answer a simple question.
Exhibit no. 2
if you have to have a "gaming laptop" at least hook it up to your TV and use a wireless keyboard, so if you fuck it up it won't effect your whole system.
Why would i buy wireless shit and a TV just to prevent a problem that i'll never have if i just practice minimal forethought?
well you're a retard so I idk. I have a detected PC. quit being a fag.
If it's such a dumb mistake to use a gaming laptop, why can't you give a good reason to not do that? Shouldn't it be easy?
Or maybe you're too dumb for even the easiest of tasks? Maybe that's why you bought a PC?
over heating, less room for upgrades, battery life, "alien ware scams". take your pick
>over heating
Just don't play modern AAA goyslop. Gets kinda hot with ER but it's not gonna explode.
>less room for upgrades
Why upgrade what's already perfect?
>battery life
And with a PC, you don't even have a battery.
>alien ware scams
Just compare prices
Laptop is way more efficient if you need to keep moving from place to place like me, and it doubles as a work laptop.
Saying "it's bad" with more words isn't an argument. You have to expand on the "why"s.
Exhibit no. 2
>Laptops are bad
>Why?
>W-W-WHY?? WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH?!?!! BET YOU'RE JUST TRYING TO JUSTIFY YOU SHITTY CHOICE!!
Because it's being LAZY for bare minimum max performance. Like a console gamer just playing right out the box. You should build your PC.
laptops are for retarded college students with money to burn with loans. they have their place, but gaming isn't one of them.
The important question isn't what's wrong with a gaming laptop. It's why are you so triggered by burmese jai alai image board that you're attempting to claw back validation for your purchase by inciting a pointless argument?
Nothing really. You're overpaying for the components and its not really optimized for high end gaming as well as a comperable desktop.
Not to mention most things they slap "gamer" or "gaming" onto is just an excuse to hike the price with an edgier baffle on it.
Overpriced compared to similar desktop systems you can make yourself
Too small to have good cooling, good cooling makes it heavy/bulky making the point of the laptop being portable redundant
Pretty much no upgrade path/ability to repair due to laptop manufacturers being autists & refusing to let people modify their stuff easily
The capability of these laptops can get outdated pretty quickly when the next new laptops come around
That might change with newer laptops being more powerful now to where we see gaming handhelds be common but might not, even then though with the amount of money you pump into getting a gaming laptop you could've just gotten a work laptop, a gaming desktop, & a small handheld with money to spare depending on the price.
I thought that playing AAA games on the go would be cool but I don't really see the point of it since when you're out & about, bite sized play experiences go a long way.
I got my Vita thinking that I'd do that but I just use it as a Tetris machine at this point, I think that's the best way for gaming on the go imo.
"It's the price of convenience", is what my brother told me. And he's one of those autists who really knows his way around a machine, and he told me it wasn't a big deal if i bought a pre-made instead of building a PC.
Comparing prices and part quality/compatibility on multiple sites, with many of those parts being used for mining, learning how to build and maintain that shit when things inevitably go wrong. All that to save a hundred or two bucks, with some of it going to the tools and multiple shipping fees aswell.
I don't give a shit about trying the new goyslop AAA with 120 FPS and max refresh rate. Just wanna sit down after work and play games. The amount of minmaxing you fuckers do sounds stressful as fuck. I remember when everyone was shitting up the board about GPU prices and i was glad i didn't have to go through that.
If there's at least 3 games i want to play but can't because of my system then i'll upgrade. But that hasn't happened in 4 years and i don't see that changing soon.
>even then though with the amount of money you pump into getting a gaming laptop you could've just gotten a work laptop, a gaming desktop, & a small handheld with money to spare depending on the price.
That's just plain wrong and you know it.
>I don't give a shit about trying the new goyslop AAA with 120 FPS and max refresh rate
Neither do I, most of the games I play are indie/older, the most recent game I got is Armored Core 6
>Comparing prices and part quality/compatibility on multiple sites... All that to save a hundred or two bucks, with some of it going to the tools and multiple shipping fees aswell.
>The amount of minmaxing you fuckers do sounds stressful as fuck
It isn't really stressful to look for parts at good prices you just have to have patience & look around, it also isn't a herculean task to check the compatibility between parts on a software/hardware level, I literally put together my first pc when I just got into high school I literally knew nothing about it & it worked fine.
Also all you need to put a pc together is a screwdriver, do you not do any handiwork at your house at all?
>That's just plain wrong and you know it.
I said depending on the price, if you look at the cheapest laptop which is like $600 no shit you can't, but casually browsing multiple sites just now lot of them range on average from $1k to $2k, with the priciest ones being $4k so yeah you can.
If you wanna save some money since you don't play newer games you can do it by buying into an older platform like AM4, I did that & I'm playing my games great still
are you retarded?
Look at this fucking brainlet.
Ps5’s shape was specially designed so you’re never tempted put a glass of liquid on it
it was also designed to not have any games
You can use a wireless keyboard with mouse and a monitor
Or simply not drink when using your electronics
I'd like to think most people aren't retarded enough to own a gaming laptop, but I'd probably be wrong.
You know I want to laugh at tards spilling shit on their laptops but I managed to spill monster zero on my desktop
I spilled my drink into my laptop last year right after I fucking got it and strangely it did nothing. I turned it off as fast as I could and then let it dry upside down. Technology.
4000 DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN
lap tops aren't for gaming
>13th gen Intel furnace in a gaming Laptop with no way to properly cool it.
what could go wrong?
In the civilized part of the world they invented "dining table", which is where you sit down with your wife, kids and other family members to have meals. That way, the place where you eat is different from the place where you use computers or play videogames.
taking breaks is a good thing.
>normalfag spills his latte on is laptop in starbucks
>What's up fellow gaymers! Don't cha hate it when that happens?
That never happened to me OP. Not a homosexual, you see.
op has killed himself by now.
Should have gotten a thinkpad. You can spill all the coffee you want on them. You can even put your mouth under the sink hole and use the keyboard as an improvised coffee filter if you're in need of a morning cuppa.
op can suck the filtered coffee out of my wenis
straight from the tap
>buy an msi laptop
>can emulate everything
>PC graphic settings defaulted to high settings
good enough. stop being psychopaths.
The risk is never there because I'm not stupid enough to put something that could break my valuable things near my valuable things.
Why are you eating at your desk? I will never understand this. Like, you can't peal yourself away from WoW long enoung to eat a bowl of spaghetti? I have a thermos of water, and a coffee-cup warmer. Both are actually below my PC in elevation. All my electronics (phone, watch charge, etc) are elevated above the desk. Keyboard and mouse are on a mat. If anything spilled, the only thing to get wet would be my notebook.
>why are you eating at your desk
chips and dip while gaming. Getting up and going somewhere else for a meal or snacky time and coming back is like a woman's thing
stop eating
>Why are you eating at your desk? I will never understand this.
So I can put on a video or read with some music instead of just eating in silence for several minutes
I put all my drinks in a spill proof thermos
Step 1 keep your drink far from computer
Step 2 ?????????
Step 3 profit
>gaming laptop
When I repaired electronics plenty of people managed to spill shit on their consoles, I assure you. And then lie about it, which is weird since the second you open it you know the truth of the matter, so it's like lying to a doctor.
Only idiots buy overpriced gaming laptops. It would only cost me my $60 keyboard and actually not really. I spilled coffee on my keyboard some time ago and I just immediately cleaned it and let it dry upside down for 24 hrs and it worked like new again.
>laptop
Deserved, buy an actual PC next time, if something in It breaks, you can replace It, If your laptop gets fucked, its over and you need a new one entirely
I did an accidental spit take on my $1k gaming laptop that I bought with high school graduation money. It fried
I miss that fucker so much. Laptop gaming is immensely comfy
> gamers
> laptop
Mobile gaming is less embarrassing.
Real PC gamers don't game on a laptop.
