Just started playing this recently
Got to say it’s actually fun
Don’t know how kojima did it but fuck me, I’m playing a Deliveroo simulator and I’m actually enjoying it

Few things are annoying me thought
From what I gather BTs and time fall cover certain areas and is not wide all around you, actioning randomly
If so,I wish it was more random, same with time fall and I wish there was actual caves I could hide it like in the intro
It’s like I don’t get a chance to maintain my cargo since I’m going to get hit by time fall no matter what
Or am I just too early in the game and there are actual caves to hide in

You don’t get to hide but you get weapons to deal with them and alternate routes. First map is just a linear tutorial.
Don’t worry about the rain too much, only the protective cargo case gets damaged, banging it up is what damages the stuff inside.
Best way is to run up to a BT and quickly use bola gun to stun it, then run past it or throw blood grenade at feet to get out of their grasp. Just lookout for the rainbow and strands in the sky to avoid BT area. Trucks can’t go through BT area but motorcycle can get caught and BOOST the fuck out of their grasp, thought they will shake some cargo down if you have a tower of it on your back. Enjoy.

What's going to ruin the game for you is knowing you can get though any BT area by letting them catch you then just walking out of the tar. Rain ends immediately and you won't be harassed until you leave the area and come back.
Also using the cuffs permanently removes BTs and you can actually completely remove them from your map if you care to spend the time. This also eliminates all rainfall.

You fuck up the cargo if they drag you around. Putting it in a mailbox beforehand works though. The cuff upgrade is much later on and you still have to sneak up on them. I don’t think you can permanently remove them from the map, but you can kill them all and clear the area for some time.
In the end it’s just about how fast you want to deal with them. You can stick around and farm some chiral crystals or just make your way through.

don't know what game you played but i am playing it now and you can't just escape the BTs

If they catch you and drag you to the big BT you can walk away from the tar area and it will be the same as killing it. If it catches you and eats you it will make a crater and you have to walk around it next time.

          >you can walk away from the tar area and it will be the same as killing it
you get caught once, you get a small tar area that you can get out of, but you almost run out of stamina. If you get caught a 2nd time the tar area is much bigger and you won't make it out.

Oh and there are caves like in the intro which stop the rain if you wait in them. Every single one has a data chip if you're a collectathon runner.

I tried thought the game was unfun dog shit. Kojima just can’t do compelling fun gameplay imo. Never enjoyed any of his games for anything beyond characters and stories.

Honestly I had more fun when the story was over and just killing MULEs

Btw the voidouts and body bags in the game seemed really... random. Like I killed a ton of Mules and put them in bodybags and didn't get a voidout. But then I got a random voidout one time? And then I killed a bunch of MULEs and I ran out of body bags? The sequel should make it more clear if there is a bodybag limitation or have a timer for voidouts maybe.

        Anonymous

Well the game does mention on the first body transport mission that Necrosis starts approximately 48 hours after death.
Assuming the gamelogic actually follows that as a rule, you'd have two in-game days maximum to burn it before BTs eat it up.
Maybe if a dead body is close enough to a field of BTs, that timer is much shorter if not potentially immediate.

          Anonymous

Really? That would mean I completed the campaign from the first time I got sticky guns to when I fought Higgs in 2 days?
Either that or the MULEs I put in bodybags weren't close enough to BTs for it to cause any problems.
          Who knows

BT areas are easy as fuck to deal with. Clamping your hand over your mouth makes you literally undetectable as long as you keep scanning and don't run straight into them. Once you get the blade, it's piss easy to clear out a whole field of them.

What do you even get if you collect all the Portal cubes? All I got was a Valve for the back of Sam's head and a headcrab hat.

Yeah it's fun. Sometimes I get annoyed at some forced story missions but the unlocked areas are cool afterwards for the usual delivery rounds.

BT zones are stationary. They're mostly present, they only clear up for a few minutes on very rare occasions or if you intentionally get caught by them and defeat the boss that it spawns.
There are some caves but only a handful. There are strucutres that provide shelter and container repair that you'll get access to later, they look like man-made mushrooms, it's hard to miss.
Though cargo containers are a red herring. As long as you're not transporting gas, the container degrading will have no effect on your score because timefall cannot degrate the contents of the package, only impact can.

for a game about walking and driving places you'd think the animations and physics would actually be decent but they're not. there's times sam fails to walk up stairs, just does a generic walk animation but doesn't move forward. times when i climb a rock but get instantly transported back down. the bike and trucks bug out sometimes if i try to take them on anything but smooth road or ground. it seems like the variation of animations is nonexistent, as if they barely put effort towards anything but the cast and motion capture cutscenes

      Anonymous

do you have any clips or videos showing this? I don't recall this ever happening in my playthroughs and tbh always thought the animations were nice. Maybe not DMC5 nice, but pretty good

        Anonymous

no i uninstalled after sam kept asking why some city couldn't print whatever they needed when his literal job is to deliver stuff people can't print. it was a story quest in the second area

Did you notice that trucks behave properly on the roads? a.k.a the only surface you're supposed to drive them on.
I keep seeing this shit. You gays keep trying to skyrim your way through the game and then blame the game when it doesn't work out, when it's ridiculous that you thought it's supposed to work that way in the first place.

i'm talking about roads that have like pebbles on them, not even anything you could call a rock. there's been times the truck just slams to a stop as if i hit something, i look around, use the scanner and see nothing, and i just keep driving as if there was nothing there

    now here's the real question.

Xbox gamepass has the game but it's not the definitive edition.

Is there a major difference betweeen the games?

      Anonymous

yes, director's cut adds more tools to the game, extra missions, firing range, a reacetrack and some BT zones have Hispanicy surprises to keep you on edge. basically its new game +

it depends. if you don't want to pay for director's cut, go for the standard version and play it again when it comes next year on the gamepass. otherwise go with directors cut

Nothing of the sort. The director's cut doesn't add anything important and if you ask me, doesn't add anything good either but whatever.

don't worry about the container damage, the important bar is the Damage one, so as long as you don't do something stupid with the cargo the contents should be fine even at 0% CD.

It opens up gameplay-wise around chapter 3. You get a lot more gadgets/tools, encounter more types of BTs, get weapons and fight human enemies too. There's an item that restores container condition fairly early in the game. The ground you traverse gets more complicated too.

I bought the game 2 days ago, and i'm kinda liking it, but now that i've played it, I think I can better put into words why I didn't like it on release. The game is full to the brim with symbolism, the cuffs are literal hand cuffs, The characters names are on the nose even worse than hot coldman, the characters talk a bit unnaturally, like why the fuck is this guy saying to my face "you're file said you had a phobia" Like I know I need the info eventually, but Sam obviously knows this because he has it, I think having the characters mocapped with Japanese mannerisms is a little weird, seeing Lindsey Wagner do that Japanese arms out block is off on a European looking person. I'm gonna finish it, because I am having fun, but it feels pretentious.

I had a moment of realization that the balance mechanic in the game was basically a solved qte and not really a mechanic. Kind of killed my enthusiasm to keep going.

Why does it always feel like nobody on Ganker knows what a QTE is? First, Sekiro is QTEs and now Death Stranding is QTEs?

        Anonymous

yes the r2 and l2 shoulder press, you can cheese it to regain your balance 100% of the time, You can run around like a mad man and unless you're doing something stupid like going down a sheer cliff you can just save yourself with l2 + r2.

      Anonymous

It is pretty much pointless in the overall scheme of things since you can just hold both directions at once to negate about 99% of any imbalances, and stamina is never really an issue except in water.
The only part of balance that has value as a game mechanic is on inclines, especially when walking downhill and managing your speed, you can make the left/right balance work subtly in your favor to make sharper turns.
