Forgot to post pic. I lost one of my characters yesterday, poor Logan, didn't even noticed until hours later, he probably died when i was raiding an ancient lab to one of those metal spiders. They also claimed my main characters leg, but thankfully losing a limb in this game is a blessing in disguise. Now I'm upgrading my base and crafting some better equipment before going on another adventure.

I did, I enjoyed fighting for my life and lifing off scraps but once things got pretty safe and I'd looted a number of ruins it started to get a little same.
I think the setting is great and the game has a good backbone but it could use a little more diversity in its content.
Eager to see what they do for kenshi 2

Honestly the best part of these type of games is the beginning. It's the same thing for me with Project Zomboid. I like to do challenge runs and go for different objectives every time I play and when it gets boring I just start a different playthrough.

Yeah, I love the phase where I'm the scum of the earth and barely survive. I think bulletsponge type difficulties are unfun, fallout 4 survival mode was pretty good at the start for having everyone be equally vulnerable but things get easy way too quickly.
Know any other good games for this? I haven't played zomboid so maybe I'll check that out.

Other than Zomboid there's CDDA although I never played that one but I've seen people playing it. I guess there's also Zero Sievert. Those are the only ones I know of, I think.

bit of a long shot but Outward feels like a single character rpg version of Kenshi to me
filling up your backpack then fricking off to parts unknown so you can get raped by whatever lives there, comfy camping, dealing with weather conditions, limping home half dead and overencumbered with a pack full of loot i am not willing to drop in order to run faster, that kind of stuff
also the magic system's pretty neat, if unintuitive

i won't lie, it IS jank, and there's a fair chance of you bouncing off the combat at first
but it scratches a similar itch for me so maybe it will for you also

sounds about right, still worth a look if you can get it for cheap or off the high seas
either way it's got a sequel coming sometime so maybe they'll iron out the worst of it
or double down on it, you know how these things go

The quests and world design are just way too bad. You're describing survival games, by the way, of which there are thousands of games like it. It's like the most popular genre with little kids.

There's not really that much new I'd see with a new playthrough other than variations on the same stuff (kill these people instead of these people, recruit these people instead of these people).
Hopefully Kenshi 2 gives you more ways of interacting with the world besides killing or selling stuff.

I would agree only as far as saying that mods which add 'content' to the game are like putting lipstick on a pig. The game has key flaws that can't be fixed by mods.

      Anonymous

I must be a homosexual then, there's a ton of mods that buff the minor raider factions that make them an actual challenge, like the shrieking bandits getting a unit with a giant club that can break down your gates.
and if you're not playing with one of the attack slot mods what are you doing, combats way too easy if your super beep can 1v1 a billion dudes.

I handpick mods. According to steam I have subscribed to 189 mods. I don't use all of them together but I do use the vast majority. I have no performance issues because I pay close attention to the mod order.
      https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1850250979
Conflicts will only arise if a mod adds new locations and it clashes with another mod. For example if you add two different faction mods and they just happen to place new buildings in the exact same place, but this is a very, very race occurrence. Also read comments for mods too in order to know if something like this ever happens.

Mining copper is a task that helps you with absolutely nothing in the rest of the game. Don't be fooled by a little bar ticking up saying "He's a good miner!" It has no uses. And it's less profitable than picking over corpses of failed raids outside towns.

        Anonymous

Well if you base up then laboring skill will be important
Every piece of shit in that base from the walls to the weapons and armor and ammo you craft up will be banged out from metal and stone from the mines

I didn't make a base until I had a ton of tech, so basically I spent zero time without the automatic mines doing that part for me. All I needed was automated runners taking it back to the stashes.
