Kingdom Come Deliverance

How is this game? I always hear about people not liking the combat. Is the world worth exploring?

Combat sucks and you constantly have to eat food to keep your energy level up otherwise you can’t do anything

People get filtered by the combat because they don't train with Bernard.

No brown "people" in it. deserves GOTY based on that alone.

      But how's the gameplay?

I liked. Maybe a bit of an acquired taste at first, especially the combat, but once you get immersed in the game, its hard to stop playing. Make sure you invest some time into learning archery. You can't go up against groups of 2+ enemies like you would in other RPGs, so its good to be able to kill/wound with arrows before starting melee combat. Overall, great game imo.

GOTY 2018, play on hardcore mode if you want full immersion (pro tip: don't take sleepwalking trait if you're bad at orienteering).

It has one of the best combat mechanics I've seen, it's just too hard for an average pleb to get into, so casuals get filtered by it.
The game is amazing, but felt a bit underwhelming because it tries to be realistic in some parts, but kinda cheesy in others.
So if it's something that's gonna bother you, just roleplay everything yourself and don't abuse the cheese.

all around, it's an amazing game, people who complain about the combat just got filtered hard instead of taking 5 minutes to understand how it works. It does have its share of jank, but nothing that will break your experience

imagine calling other people "filtered" when you unironically don't understand enough about the system to know how broken it is

The combat could be great but they ruined it by making combos impossible to pull off on most enemies, it essentially boils down to "press q to win"

It's by far the best game I've ever played and nothing has come close since. The atmosphere, story, quests, level system, music, the minigames for all the stuff you can do (only game where alchemy is actually fun), and looking at the screenshots of the castles and how alike they are to their inspirations the whole thing is kino.

Combat is serviceable, the positive thing about it is that you can feel your character and yourself getting better at it so I suppose it works fine narratively.
The big issue is that most of the combat mechanics can't be used because all enemies past a certain point start using master strikes which completely ruin the pacing and ruin all chances of landing combos, you can also abuse master strikes yourself to trivialize every single encounter.

Modded KCD though, now this is where the combat gets really amazing.

    Absolute kino
people who don't like the combat were just filtered by it because in this game you can't fight seven enemies at once when you are a level 2 mook.

    Great game and great world.
I'm willing to bet my left nut that 90% of babbies seething at this game never even bothered training with Captain Bernard.
    >Lol wtf, why is a son of a blacksmith not easily dispatching those professional soliders? Shit game.
Sadly, the worst aspect of the game is mid-late game combat.

Terrific game, janky but forgivable due to the sheer amount of SOVL. It does feel slow at the beginning but stick with it. Set aside two hours for sword training with Bernard and you’ll never have to worry about combat again after that. If exploring is your jam you will love just walking through the woods and countryside… The Music and atmosphere at different times of day, it’s the most enchanted I’ve been with a game for years.

Not really though. Best case you manage to sort of tumble over it and get covered in cuts and scratches.

There's nothing to explore. But that's the fun part. You might find a scary dark cave that takes hours to search around with twisting paths and dead ends, only to find nothing, because that's life.

But now that you know that, you've been spoiled. Which takes away the revelation and the enjoyment.

I do like the freedom though of being able to do casual things, like taking a bath with your friends.

Pure soul. Of someone complains about the combat being bad, know that they have been filtered and feel free to disregard their opinion.
It's a janky but Incredible game.

Jank but you can feel that they put a lot of heart into the game and the world. Combat is fine until opponents start master striking your ass so you're better off with bow. Peak RPG though. I enjoyed to roleplay as a hunter during day and then Robin Night in the night.
