The DX character models are fine. The issue with the DX ports are lighting and transparency issues, as well as unnecessary to changes to environments.
The problem with the models is that they clash heavily with everything else. The human NPCs received no update and neither did Eggman which makes them look incredibly awkward next to the new models.
This is Chris Chan sonic arm tier levels of autism to actually think this is a drastically bad change. Yes DX is worse but the models are the absolute least of its problems.

The combat wasn't even the biggest problem for me, it was squeezing in a nonsensical narrative in bits in pieces that you had no context for unless you watch the anime and even then paced itself so poorly you weren't invested in the fates of any of the characters. It should have been Harvest Moon (hyperbole). Just 4 bros in a bit open world and like, building your own bachelor pad while having adventures and scoring bitches. You're LITERALLY a prince rolling around in a convertible through (what should have been) beautiful scenic landscapes.
Overhaul the combat. Ditch the worst story the series has ever seen. Focus on minigame systems as hard as something like Yakuza does. Just make it Final Fantasy: Maximum Comfy and it would have been amazing.

The armor/monster designers had to make the character models themselves just to have something to put the armor on, and these character models just kind of stuck as the designs/in-game artstyle and what the drawn art in the game would emulate.
A lot of the official artwork outside the game released at the time has a much more recognizable anime artstyle.

Monolith nowadays are masters of optimization and it's easy to see why when they had to deal with cramming something like this on the wii. the remaster artstyle looks okay but i hate how it handled the characters. There are a lot of subtle facial movements that the new models just are not made for, im not sure if its because of the different shading or geometry on the older models or because they fucked up porting the animation data to the new models.

The reason usually given doesn't make sense either "it's locked in an old console", that's true for a lot of games and not even 1% of them get remastered, why? Because even if companies stopped making new games to only make remasters they'd never catch up because by the time every game from say PS1 got a remaster the first ones to get a remaster would already be locked in an old console again, keeping this unending cycle going.

It destroys the game's balance and there's no way to disable it, you get extra stat gains and just playing through the game curves your performance way above and beyond even following the leanest story progression paths. It ruins the game by forcing you to be overpowered unless you bug and glitch your way through to avoid fights.

After I played XIII and seeing the concept of corridor rpgs (again, to my surprise); I finally realized that nostalgia is one hell of a drug and I'm never, ever playing X again because it's better to have in my mind the memories than experience corridors again.

If it were a more modern game and they collected metrics and realized it was a problem, I'd say that, but yeah for old RPGs? I dunno. I've seen different versions make changes that are good. Like Lunar Silver Star from Dreamcast to PS1 to DS tuned a lot of the bosses and relieved a ton of the pain points. Like the DS version nerfed the Truffle Troubler boss, which was way overturned in previous versions and really broke the flow with all the grinding it made you do. I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to make rational changes to a game if it's been played a million times and people know where the bullshit is.

FFX remaster also has a green screen glitch that randomly occurred in FMV cutscenes. I don't know this only happens in console version but apparently, many famous streamers run into this glitch and ruined their experience with the story.

The main reason I feel why the lighting was amped up in the 3DS was because you know, it was on a 3DS with a tiny screen. A darker tone would just reflect the light from the outside.

XIII would have been better if it had more ways to break up the pace, the game is 95% running down hallways and fighting, even old FFs let you stop off in towns and unwind, XIII had like...3 instances of that, Hope's house, Bodhum flashback and the Nautilus, which are all very short. Combine this with a battle system that holds back its potential for 20 hrs by forcing you to have 2 party members all the time and you have a game that becomes very tedious very quickly
it takes me 6 hours to get to pulse all you have to do is dodge the monsters
The irony is that FFX started the hallway shit, one of the reasons I never cared for it. Not surprising someone who liked FFX would like XIII because they have virtually the same format
FFX had loads of moments that broke up the pacing at least, it wasn't just one looooooooong hallway crawl, you could wander around towns, talk to people, engage in minigames, shop and just break away from the battles for a bit
XIII doesn't have that and it just gets fucking annoying when you go through hallways (which are way longer than anything in X) with spongy enemies and a gimped combat system
Missing out on towns sucks but not having minigames is a huge point in XIII's favor, FF minigames are almost always terrible

FFXIII has the best ATB system of any game, but it also does the shittiest job of any game ever of teaching players how to engage with it.
It's basically the only worthwhile part in that entire trilogy, and the developers knew that since all you do is battle in that shit..

THIS holy fuck XIII has probably the best combat system in any of the games but it's uber gimped until like 20 hours in and taught horribly by the game itself.
XIII-2 fixes everything by unlocking everything, but I wasn't that big a fan of the pokemon mechanic.

Cid is actually the worst part of that fight, since he can throw off the damage in the fight and force Evrae into haste phase at a really shitty time and the fact that it can haste itself and then immediately cast 2-3 times.
All because Cid hit a little too much can lead to Evrae swooping in, then hasting himself, then breathing in and immediately inflicting petrify which he'll just pop immediately causing an instant death and slot loss. Way back when I've seen an unlucky bastard lose 5 turns to Evrae's bullshit and then you have to survive a gauntlet of enemies before you can save

Yeah, theres mods to revert the visual while keeping it enhanced. Also a 4k texture mod for all chars, but it sometimes bugs out and they vanish in cutscenes killing immersion so i stick with the basic shit like sphere grid revamps and old face

No I agree. FFX's post-game shit is garbage. Monster arena, capturing monsters, blitzball, grinding for 10 hours to kill the evil aeons. Who wants to do that? FF6 did side content well in the world of ruin.
No way. FFX is exceptionally bad with this shit. Chocobo breeding and Chocobo Hot & Cold dragged on, but the sheer amount of roundabout busywork put into FFX's side content is insane. I can't imagine trying to do something like the Cactuar side quest on an original PS2 copy. Having to run around the desert without being able to turn on fast-forward or turn off random encounters would've been absolute cock and ball torture.

I love Ten but it's is especially bad compared to the ones that have come before AND after it with maybe 15 coming in as a close second there are a lot of just BULLSHIT
