KOTOR Remake

KOTOR Remake problems stemmed from the fact that it wasn't "cinematic" enough

Sony is a fricking blight on this industry.

      >Small company wins the rights to remake KOTOR and has the rights to make KOTOR 3.
      >They get bought by the Embracer group who then give them to a sub division of Embracer. Now this small company has a FRICKLOAD of funds poured into it. 700 million.
      >Then Sony throws some money at them too.
      >They finish up a vertical slice of the game and show it off.
      >Lucus arts love it, sony hates it for not matching their "Cinematic" style.
      >They panic because they might loose Sony money so they fire a bunch of people on the team.
      >Turns out the people they fire are the actual talent on the game who were very popular so a bunch more people leave and the team falls apart.
      >The RAT Jasen Screamer makes up some bullshit to generate controversy. Fricking over the studio even more.
      >Now everything is in development limbo.
In short, Sony and jason schreier killed the game.

why didn't Disney slap Sony's shit in for this?

Disney isn't exactly known for making good decisions lately.

Disney does not give a frick about Star Wars games. They cancelled a bunch when they got the Star Wars rights and only had EA making the battlefront games and another studio making the lego games if you remember.
Disney seems to not understand how important merchandise and video games are to star wars.

        Its better this way
Anyone remember one of the writers for the game was the most extreme "i hate white men evil cis men i <3 trans n gays" types, who was openly bragging about writing for the KOTOR remake?

Yup. Plus, even after she left there was still

          >they were going to genderflip Calo Nord and Saul Karath
          >they were going to race swap certain npcs to make things 'more diverse'
That makes me feel better about the cancelation at least.

Well now I am going to wonder if what they were making would have been better or not. I don't put much stock into modern gaming though so who knows how true this is.

game developers see themselves as temporarily embarrassed filmmakers. if a video game doesn't pretend to be a film, nobody wants to work on it

wait, are you fricking kidding me? I fricking hate this fricking stupid modern sensibility everywhere is fricking America in 2020 gayshit.
how the frick can you look at star wars and not think that it's not diverse enough? the only morons that say this know nothing about sw lore or how even many planets are at war with each other. it's always twatter-tier shit. how fricking hard is it to remaster a game with 1:1 essence and characterization? how fricking hard is it just to be faithful to the game? these fricking dumbshits want everything to be multi-color while ignoring their planets, species, and the existence of aliens- no, it's not enough, we need to make every fricking human a different color. Fricking toxic ass moronic shit

It was always going to be garbage.
Kotor combat was deciphering THACO and then realizing anything but Soldier/Guardian was moronic.

      lol
      >babby's first rpg
      >caring about build viability
      lmao even
that's ignoring the fact that soldier makes you drown in feats you've nothing to spend on, and that scout starts with a flurry and lvl1 implant - things that are actually optimal throughout the whole game

but yeah, it was never gonna work in current year regardless

Was only interested in this because of the graphical updates, it would have been nice to see the game running with modern graphics.
If this is true (and not just baseless speculation) then it's a shame it's been cancelled, but I wouldn't have wanted ~~*them*~~ to pozz the shit out of it so at least it remains untainted for now.

Good. Boomer nostalgia games with moronic dice roll combat like this is Baldurs Gate don't belong on PS5. If they won't get rid of the stat and skill system and boring ass stat based combat than they can stay gone. Powerful hardware needs innovative and fluid combat, not stagnating back to the days of clunky slow combat

Modern politics and society has all but guaranteed that story direction like KotOR II will never happen again. Even if you thought the story was garbage, it still appealed to philosophy and had you view the world through different lenses, instead of the black or white.
Nowadays society is too sensitive and people believe that some ideals and philosophies should not be present in video games, or media in general.

The KOTOR remake was being written by that woman who claimed she was raped in GTA Online, Sony was in the right to scrap it.
