It's bad because it has shitty proportions and runs on its knuckles like an ape for no reason. It also fricks off with most of Torracat's design and unlike most starters that shaft their middle evo it doesn't invoke Litten's design as compensation.
>It's bad because it has shitty proportions and runs on its knuckles like an ape for no reason.
Based. Basically made an orge-like cat creature. You just have shitty ass opinions. Also something like Blaziken is far more of a departure from its pre-evo than Incineroar is from Torracat.
No, everyone in general, it's only contrarian among nostalgia gays on the internet. Every kid hated Blaziken. It was LITERALLY designed to be a disappointing ugly mon. >Sugimori states that this mentality towards painted chicks is what inspired Torchic and Blaziken, in that Torchic "starts out cute then grows into something fierce and hard to look at".
>knuckles
Anon there's a reason that gay spams that gif. It's because it's the only time he runs like that and it goes against all of Incineroar's animations.
Incineroar never runs on his knuckles outside of the movie which doesn't follow Incineroar's established animation. Basically your critique relies on a shitpost being true.
Things like Pokemon movement is factchecked by GF advisors anon. Also, that's the only time Incineroar's ever sprinted in official media, so no shit you've never seen it do it elsewhere.
What? It has sprinted in the anime, games, and smash.
Things like Pokemon movement is factchecked by GF advisors anon. Also, that's the only time Incineroar's ever sprinted in official media, so no shit you've never seen it do it elsewhere.
It looks like shit with goofy proportions. It's got big long arms and a huge chest but tiny legs and feet. Not to mention the giant fingers that looks like when a cartoon character gets their hands stuck in a mouse trap.

>A design being intentionally cartoony to match how absolutely absurd Pro Wrestling can get >This is bad to people
Have you not seen Kinnikuman?
Also tiger paws are that huge IRL.
Incineroar is based tho
I like Incineroar as a character design, but not a pokemon. If that makes sense.
Ironically what makes a good humanoid design is more human proportions. Despite people generally disliking things looking too human, it just comes off as more natural. You can get away with a big head and weird hands, but when you have sausage arms and no shoulders is just looks off.
You want the mix of human x animal/monster, not human x cartoon x animal/monster.
Machamp is based but there are other humanoid designs that are cool. Fantasy monsters like elves, orcs, giants, dwarves have always existed. It's the execution that sometimes makes the design a turn-off.
yup that's why right miserably fail, because they just take an animal and turn it into a fursuit
It's something that fits shit like Looney Tunes more than Pokemon
Notice bad humanoid designs are sexualized.
Inteleon is a disgusting fujobait ikemen and Incineroar is a bara cereal mascot. The duck, don't even need to comment on that.
Agree with OP except Quaquaval. Also inteleon looks dumb but G-max hydrosnipe was probably the best animation in SwSh. But yeah frick Inceleroar. I'd add Delphox and Cinderace to the right too.
Yes.
Actual humanoids are far superior to furshit.
I rather have the new gen have more gallade clones than number of pikachu clones ever made than to have 5 new furshitmons trying to be the next lucario.
Because children growing up with true humanoid monsters won’t end up as dog frickers.
You are correct. I feel from what I see people don't care if it takes inspiration from a real life animal or not, after all Pokémon are essentially conceptualized as fantasy animals and taking inspirations from real animals is to be expected. In fact originally Pokémon were primarily inspired by real animals until Satoshi Tajiri decided to expand the base of designs.
We can look at polls and popularity like Pokémon of the year and see how popular they are. Indeed the complaints are more so about how "humanoid" designs are because of how artificial they feel to the *loud* minority who complains about them. Popularity polls show that Pokémon like Lucario, Greninja, Zoroark, Gardevoir, Toxtricity, etc are popular despite being bipedal and being based off a concept.
When you take a look at people's complaints I mostly see people complaining that these critters feel like characters and not natural living creatures. Again this is a byproduct of Pokémon context, the designers have gone on record stating that they aim to create believable ecosystems and one of the headwriters of the anime stated they aimed to mirror the relationship between humans and animals unto the Pokémon. Games like New Pokémon Snap also aim to create a believable fantastical world by showing living creatures living in fantastical ecosystems. So I feel the root of the problem with bipedal designs lie with how artificial they feel among the loud minority that complains about them.
I'm generally pretty optimistic about later gen mon designs, but they've been very divisive with the starters since Gen 7 IMO. I would say since Gen 5, but Gen 6 had Greninja and Delphox (I chose the fox, calm down).
I'm especially mad because water types are my favorite starter type, and they've always failed me at the final stage -- except Primarina -- starting from Gen 4.
And I'm even MORE mad because chameleons were my favorite animal as a kid, so Intelleon had a chance to be really great for me. And ducks are some of my favorite animals now, but they fricked that up too. I'm a gay, but I'm not at all a fan of ""flamboyant"" gays, so add all those things together and I'm pretty disappointed. I really, REALLY wanted to like Quaxly, man.
Pic related. I took a quick shot at mildly redesigning Cinderace and Intelleon, if I were forced to keep their general proportions/theme. I kinda wanna take another crack at Intelleon by fixing the legs and proportions, and removing the "humanoid" aspect to it.
It's all about proportions. Left are bipedal but still have fairly monstrous/animalistic proportions. Right have very human proportions.
Both are still bad, but right is MUCH worse than left.
>incineroar is bad because…um…it just is ok?
>t, smashgay
>t. gay
I know that's redundant but I'm just making it explicit
It's bad because it has shitty proportions and runs on its knuckles like an ape for no reason. It also fricks off with most of Torracat's design and unlike most starters that shaft their middle evo it doesn't invoke Litten's design as compensation.

Yes and everyone hates Blaziken, pointing to another shitmon isn't a defense
*Everyone one in this contrarian subreddit
No, everyone in general, it's only contrarian among nostalgia gays on the internet. Every kid hated Blaziken. It was LITERALLY designed to be a disappointing ugly mon.

How?
>knuckles

...what gif?
Incineroar never runs on his knuckles outside of the movie which doesn't follow Incineroar's established animation. Basically your critique relies on a shitpost being true.

Running is not sprinting, anons.
Things like Pokemon movement is factchecked by GF advisors anon. Also, that's the only time Incineroar's ever sprinted in official media, so no shit you've never seen it do it elsewhere.

>"its just meant to be bad, so that makes it good"
How about frick off.
It's bad because, well, have you tried looking at it?
>Skips leg day
BAD
To this day it's still one of the ugliest designs in the series
but muh jobmons and muh furgays and muh troons and and and and abd
I like Incineroar as a character design, but not a pokemon. If that makes sense.
that pink shit needs to be on the right
Reminder.
Mega man lookalikes and mythical dnd races good.
Shitty furso-I mean anthros bad.
Aside from the gremlin, I don’t see a difference.
humanoids that are based on humans are good
humanoids mixed with both humans and animals are bad
>humanoids mixed with both humans and animals are bad
why?
they're abhorrently ugly
Urshifu is also a great humanoid design almost perfect
and a counter point to Incineror and his Looney Tunes proportions.
if you are going to give us a Baramon, god damn go full force and gives us a Bara.
not some weak ass tazmanian devil reject design
Eat shit furfricker that thing's awful
Incineroar is the only bad one.
Ironically what makes a good humanoid design is more human proportions. Despite people generally disliking things looking too human, it just comes off as more natural. You can get away with a big head and weird hands, but when you have sausage arms and no shoulders is just looks off.

>bad design
the water ones are designed for fujos
I agree with all except the pink hammer shitter. It literally looks like its from some indie platformer game.
gays
Black person all I see are cartoony humanoid monsters
They are all trash but the left ones more so. Look like megaman designs
The hammer thing is garbage anon
All humanoid designs are bad. Some are just less bad.
Except for the Machamp line which are okay aside from the "organic" underpants/belt
Shitty King Dedede
>All humanoids are shit (except machamp cuz kantoooooooooo)
The absolute state of genwunners
Machamp is based but there are other humanoid designs that are cool. Fantasy monsters like elves, orcs, giants, dwarves have always existed. It's the execution that sometimes makes the design a turn-off.
only incineroar should be in the bad design, everyone else is good
Only bisharp should be in the good design side. Mega man clones and moronic pink smurf are garbage
>good humanoid designs are just humans
>bad humanoid designs are animals with human features
Got it
yup that's why right miserably fail, because they just take an animal and turn it into a fursuit
It's something that fits shit like Looney Tunes more than Pokemon
Thank goodness Sceptile was not designed in recent generations.
Notice bad humanoid designs are sexualized.
Inteleon is a disgusting fujobait ikemen and Incineroar is a bara cereal mascot. The duck, don't even need to comment on that.
>hammer troony dwarflet
>good
I fricking hate that overrated little shitter so much already
none of the pokemon on the left are good
>b-but bisharp
none of the pokemon on the left are good
Agree with OP except Quaquaval. Also inteleon looks dumb but G-max hydrosnipe was probably the best animation in SwSh. But yeah frick Inceleroar. I'd add Delphox and Cinderace to the right too.
They’re all shit except quaquaval, unironically
So it's good if it doesn't look like an animal
That's arbitrary
Yes.
Actual humanoids are far superior to furshit.

Whoops! OP here. I accidentally put Incineroar (the greatest starter ever) on the right side instead of the left. Please ignore that part.
Ones on the left suck dick, in fact they all suck dick.
OP's pic is literally this Pic from Ganker but more ambiguous with the term humanoid.
Incineroar is the ultimate pleb filter. Best fire starter in years.
Pink shit needs to be on the right-hand side, add Scizor into the "Good Humanoid Design" category and the image would be accurate.
I'm generally pretty optimistic about later gen mon designs, but they've been very divisive with the starters since Gen 7 IMO. I would say since Gen 5, but Gen 6 had Greninja and Delphox (I chose the fox, calm down).

Anyways yes, frick Intelleon and Quaquaval lol.
This doesn't use the old vs new argument, how am I supposed to strawman dispute it?
that pink thing looks bad
Incineroar is based tho
The duck is so fricking ugly
Duck is literally the worst starter evolution design I've ever seen. Delete the entire game.
It's all about proportions. Left are bipedal but still have fairly monstrous/animalistic proportions. Right have very human proportions.
Both are still bad, but right is MUCH worse than left.
