The obsession with sales isn't really the issue, it's their warped, delusional view of what the sales/players counts should be to be successful.

To understand you have to realize that zoomers aren't real people in the same sense as pre-smarphone generations. There is a separation between them, and all people to ever live, historically, in that they never lived in a world without smartphones while they were conscious.

They never had an opportunity to become socialized in any real way. They were a blank template; whatever rich people were pushing on social media at the time, that is what they became 100%, with zero deviation. Every zoomer, no matter how much of a nobody he/she is, is a brand ambassador for a bunch of rich people.

To play a game that is not "the game of the month" is to be irrelevant to them. The idea that there are people who play games with 5000 concurrent players at any given time, and that these games have thriving communities, is completely lost on them. They didn't grow up playing PC games with server lists of a few thousand players in custom servers like the people from the before times did. Playing a game with that count would be a huge "ick" for them.

Same goes for sales. They can't comprehend that 2 million sales for a not so popular franchise like SMT is actually huge. Yakuza 8 sold 1 million copies in the first week(s) or so, and the devs/SEGA were ecstatic.

They didn't grow up in times where they were one of a few tens of thousands of people to buy a video game on a whim at the store, and then later on see that game turn into a multi-billion dollar franchise with loads of entries.

They are disconnected from reality, and moronic as frick.

It's amazing how quickly the hype died down once the shilling stopped. You can tell it was artificially inflated by the massive hit Larian took financially, forced as they were to sell 30% of their company to Tencent. Weird how such a MASSIVE SUCCESS basically destroyed it's studio.

      >Delulu (/dəˈluːluː/ ) is an internet slang term used to describe the belief that one can influence one's own destiny through sheer willpower. Derived from the English-language word "delusional", the term has its origins in K-pop communities where the term delulu is used to refer to individuals who were in a parasocial relationship with celebrities and had hopes of meeting them someday. The term has subsequently been adopted by Generation Z and Generation Alpha, popularized by viral TikTok trends such as the catchphrase "delulu is the solulu", implying that self-confidence is key to achieving one's dreams, however far-fetched.

1.6 million is counting the old game, not just Vengeance. It took vanilla SMTV 5 months to sell 1 million copies in April 2022. Then it sold an unknown amount between April 2022 and early June 2024 (over 2 years of time). So less than 0.6 million of that number is for the new versions (albeit it's not even been a week of sales for them).

Atlus games are cheap and low budget as frick. This is the same company that was the only one holding Index afloat, and now the same thing is happening with Sega.

If the jap sales are anything to go by than switch gays are either rebuying or waited to buy the game. It's still selling the most on switch, kek

That was expected. Most sales on the Switch, followed by PS, while Xbox and PC share the third place. Xbox players don't play RPGs much, and PC are all pirategays.

        >Xbox players don't play RPGs much
        Xbox players only play shooters.

        >and PC are all pirategays.
you cant pirate this on PC

        >b-but muh emulation
riddend with gamebreaking bugs and piss poor performance.

    >after rereleasing it on all platforms
Just like ratchet and clank rift apart, if they were to release it in all platform from the very begining i would imagine more people would be interested in buying the game. Nowadays even toddlers have a pc, not releasing a pc port on day 1 seems to be a moronic move

SMT has historically never sold well. No game even broke 1 million sales in the series as a whole till SMTV originally did on Switch a few years ago. The series has surived for like 40 goddamn years because they're cheap to make and reuse assets. Maybe Square should take notes

    >Base Persona 5 and Royal sold over 7 million copies
    >the fricking Dynasty Warriors Persona 5 clone sold over 2 million copies
    >SMT V barely broke 1 million for the first time in the series history and the rerelease only sold 500K

I see why they keep spamming Persona shit

To quote Chris that's monitoring sales from installbase.
      >Like P3R, sales of SMTV:V will be very frontloaded inside and outside Japan.
So it's still not in the clear yet for 2m.

will never not be funny. salesgays are moronic though. action games appeal to a broader audience than turnbased games and something like persona with more stylist emphasis and social aspects also appeals to a broader audience. I may not give a shit about smt but its not really the kind of series just anyone is going to pick up

Maybe if they thought about just making it a dlc expansion instead of double dipping like b***hes it'd sell more. I'll wait for the $30 sale price it should be at fatless.
