It's nice to have more storage to store all the shit you hoard.
Also might need some more extra space for crafting tables and beds and other useful furniture.

          >have to guess if it's a normal medium slightly hostile creature or a big ass motherfricker
but then it's ruined by the smartass alien motherfricker making a funny quip

          >second game ruins it by making every medium sized creature make twice as much noise as the big ones from the first
the size of the map was even worse, it was so ridiculously small the reaper patrol areas were hilariously small, one of them was guarding some tiny ass crater and right the end where you go into the red rock cave it was a like a 800m jaunt to the final alien base and they had to cram the big boy bad ass reaper in it and just end up clipping so badly.

Once you remember it's a game of course it's not scary anymore, but some folks either are immersed longer or have some other phobias that keep them terrified

Nah nah, what he's saying isn't
            >once you realize it's a game, it's not scary anymore
It's the fact that Leviathans don't actually do enough damage/aren't enough of a threat to even the Seamoth for the fear factor to be kept up. If those frickers could chase you down and shred your little pod, people would still shit their pants.

said, they should also have some more tricks up their sleeve. Like maybe giving them the ability to disguise themselves or bait you with minerals to get you to leave your Seamoth. They just aren't a threat after the first initial scare.

I've no idea how you guys had the patience for this building system. The inventories were so bad I only made the bare minimum and actually ended up using the console. Even then, the bases look like shit. Great game, but this was awful.

Any game recomendation where I can have a mobile base with a vehicle loaded like the cyclops +prawn/seamoth?

  11. 1 year ago

I wish they just didn't bother with the base building and just let us build increasingly large cyclopes style vehicles to use as mobile bases.

Huge missed opportunity not basing the game around the infinitely superior submarine
Base building is a goddamn meme that barely made sense in the game

The thing is that a house can be infinitely expanded to suit all your needs. If you're a hoarder you can build an infinitely big housing for as much storage as you want. If you're an autist you can build a base that connects key farming points. If you are the kind of person who likes you farm everything they see then you can build infinitely big farms.
You can't just stick as much modules as you want something that moves or else it's gonna be impossible to get around.

That's the neat thing about video games, storage doesn't actually need to take up equivalent physical space to the things it can hold
Besides, there's still an answer to that, just have your base be a large derelict ship on the surface that you 'expand' by clearing out and repairing existing rooms
That would also preserve the actual submarine you can take down to the depths as an endgame thing

the only scary thing about this game was swimming through a wrecked ship underwater with limited oxygen trying to navigate that shit quickly to loot and make it back out in the claustrophobic topsy turvy frickin maze of shit in time before you run out of oxygen
    i stopped playing

Yes, actually. I need it in the kelp forest and with enough space to set up my aquariums.
