I can basically use 1-6, alt+1-6, ctrl+1-6 and alt+ctrl+1-6 without ever having to move my hands around too much.
        If that's not enough, I can use q, e, r, t, f, x and y and their alt/ctrl variants aswell.
Binding alt and ctrl to your mouse side buttons is a great idea to multiply your available key inputs comfortably

I don't know how you frickers do it. I tried one at a local mech keyboard meetup and my wpm dropped by about half. Keyboard for frickin aliens.

It takes a week or two to get used to, but after that you'll be back up to your normal typing speed, maybe more.
You might have issues going back to a normal keyboard at first, but eventually you'll just be fast on both. I can switch between the two without any problems now. Only took like a month of using it daily.

I love having a numpad, it's incredibly efficient for data entry and a requirement for games like roguelikes. That being said I don't understand why dudes get so fricking insecure and start foaming at the mouth when the see a 60% or smaller keyboard. They literally assume the stereotype of a dude in a F150 mocking someone in a prius, but in the niche nerdy context of PC accessories its even weirder and sadder.

It's mostly because it's so baffling to see people cut off a good chunk of their keyboard for seemingly no gain, and claim that it's better.

I don't know about others but I just got a 75% keyboard since I'm likely to do some traveling soon and I want to be able to play on muh deck with a keyboard without lugging a really large one around.
also I've always liked small stuff. small multitools, small cars, small guns, small keyboards. they appeal to me.
I figure I can just get one of those small side numpads if I find it especially annoying to lack.

The keypad is right where your thumb naturally rests. I'd accidentally press buttons with my thumb any time I got tense so I unbound them. Ironically, the only time I ever used the mouse's gaming features is when I was doing office work.

I often use it for theorycrafting. I often use it for calculating numbers quickly. I often use it for entering passwords. I sometimes use it for oldschool games(8-direction). I often use it for ARPGs due to numlock auto-casting. I often use it for muting all audio + I often use it for stopping/continuing/skipping media since my keyboard has media keys right above. I often use the media keys(with modifier) to open things like calculator, notepad, etc.

Honestly the best part of having a numpad is being able to hit the enter key with my right thumb. When you click something and a dialogue box pops up, just move your hand off the mouse and slap the enter key. Because of the vertical length of enter on a numpad, it's basically impossible to miss.

I use a $120 Leopold TKL and an official Microsoft Number pad. What's nice about the numpad is that you can use it as a macro. Customize it to custom inputs based on the specific application. Very useful.
One downside is that it goes to sleep very quickly. You have to press the buttons then alt+tab away for it to start working once its gone to sleep.

It's nice to have some keys to assign to random stuff that are unlikely to be used by anything else. Pretty safe to assume that nothing's going to use "numpad 7" as a hotkey.

My office table is 2 meters wide, I have 2 screens and plenty mouse/keyboard space. How do spacelets even breathe?

I love these threads. All of a sudden Gankerirgin NEETs instantly become accountants and whatnot as soon as they see a TKL.

Tkl is a best layout, numpad sucks dick makes keyboard too long, but 60% sucks dick too because having arrow keys and f keys behind option button is moronic

Numpads aren't as useful for the average person as the contrarians itt would have you believe. That being said, the wind x98 is a personal favorite of mine as far as full size keyboards go.

    for me? it's Minority Report
gaming controls havent evolved in like 20 years and somehow people just accept it. Having paddles on the back of the controllers only recently became a [niche] thing despite us having at least 4-6 fully functional fingers that go completely unused in games that already struggle with overcrowding controls

(VR is still a meme, I own a headset)
