they did and it was worse than this
And all those times they put them on consoles I don't own and not PC
Because they cloned the okay parts, tried to improve them marginally, then made the rest as shit as possible and called it a day.
DW1 was fun because of the exploration and mystery and atmosphere.
To follow up on DW1 you'd need to take a great art style with dark ambience as much as bright ambience and bring back DW1 exploration exactly. Only when you created an interesting and mysterious world with arcane events and conditions you can start touching the rest, like making training and evolution an even more interesting and mysterious process (and less prone to failure perhaps), rather than making it a "grind until you get what you want" mechanic.
Pic related. This cheap game had an okay atmosphere on the NDS, this would have been enough to pull off a decent DW continuation at the time. Instead we got increasingly more colorful pokemon rip-offs going heavy on the "digital world" part, which was obviously bound to lose them interest.
They did try to clone it and it's shit just like this anon said . Digimon World 1 is an anomaly and they can't replicate it even if they wanted to.
I think Re:Digitize was quite okay. In fact, I do agree that somehow the exploration was a downgrade from DW1 but otherwise it was fairly enjoyable and did capture some of the magic of the original.
Or maybe Digimon Survive was just so barren that any other Digimon title compared favorably...
My biggest issue with Re:digitezed is that it had no good recruiting missions, it was all stock mini quest shit. There’s more than one where you just have to wait.
I agree. Also, when you near the endgame and have a buff digimon and almost infinite money, it seems like you run out of things to do. There were a couple of occasions where I was just biding my time until my boi evolved. I think it is a solvable issue but might require some thought. Not every game can boast solid replayability (Pokemon can but they've also not been implementing Battle Tower for decades).
>Survive (Game) is great
I don't know know what you're eating, but I'll have some of that xD
>Re:Digitize
It wasn't a clone, they tried to add stuff people liked from digimon world 1 but missed the atmosphere entirely.
Re:Digitize was part of the "X" line. There are basically two branches of Bandai's Digimon lore, the "X" line and the "non-X" line. X, obviously, involves X-Antibodies, and there's always a specific lore tied to that, and that lore doesn't quite mesh with the original Digimon World's. Bandai's always been very clear about keeping the "normal" branch and the "X" branch distinct from one another. It's why Gaioumon is Gaioumon. Gaioumon was originally supposed to be BlackWarGreymon X-Antibody, but the people in charge liked it so much that they decided they didn't want it to be pigeonholed into the X side of things, they wanted it to be a "universal" mon.
>There are basically two branches of Bandai's Digimon lore, the "X" line and the "non-X" line
Not exactly. X and regular mons cross over fairly often especially if the Mon isn't an X Mon but an X carrier then you have Metal Greymon and Weregarurumon's alterous and Sagittarius modes which use elements of their X. As for the lore, it's basically related to the destruction of the old digital world rather than being explicitly two different sets of lore. Think of it more like the future.
No, it doesn't. The X-Antibody only exists in worlds in which Project Ark occurred. MetalGreymon Alterous Mode has traits in common with MetalGreymon X-Antibody, but these are NOT one and the same. There are several main branches of Digimon lore, but Project Ark isn't all-encompassing. Many games and stories don't feature X-Antibodies at all. The X-Antibody can only exist in worlds in which Project Ark occurred.
Additionally, Alterous Mode and Sagittarius Mode continue a minor trend in which Digimon sometimes obtain adaptations that reflect their X-Antibody forms in the absence of the X-Program. The Agumon subspecies introduced in 2006 with Savers, for instance, is classified as a Dinosaur-type rather than a Reptile-type as well as the Baby Burner technique, both of which are are derived from the X-Antibody variant of Agumon.
>The X-Antibody can only exist in worlds in which Project Ark occurred
NTA but they mix and match it all the time like how it exists in the adventure universe via alphamon.
Alphamon doesn't have the X-Antibody in worlds in which the X-Program doesn't exist. The X-Antibody's an antibody. Antibodies can only be formed in response to an invasive disease. It's nonsense for an antibody to form against a disease that doesn't exist, so the X-Antibody has no meanings in worlds without the X-Program.
In worlds in which Project Ark occurred, Alphamon is a carrier of the X-Antibody which grants it immunity to the X-Program. In worlds where Project Ark didn't occur, there is no such thing as an X-Program meaning there's no such thing as an X-Antibody, so Alphamon exists independently of it.
This is also why in stories in which the X-Program doesn't exist, Alphamon and the vanilla Omegamon are portrayed as equals. Originally, Alphamon being a carrier of the X-Antibody meant that it was stronger than Omegamon which wasn't. Omegamon only became Alphamon's equal when it took on the X-Antibody as well. This is reflected in how Omegamon's Ultimate Force, the Omega inForce, is only active in Omegamon X, while Alphamon's Alpha inForce is present by default. But in stories without X-Antibodies, it's inconvenient for there to be a divide between Alphamon and Omegamon, so powerlevels are adjust accordingly.
tl;dr:
>In worlds with X-Antibodies: Alphamon = Omegamon X > Omegamon
>In worlds without X-Antibodies: Alphamon = Omegamon
>Alphamon doesn't have the X-Antibody in worlds in which the X-Program doesn't exist
Dude, it's a natural carrier.
It's an intrinsic part of its own lore.
I'd also like to add that project Ark and the X-program didn't exist in the ReArise universe yet X antibody mon do.
In ReArise, the X-Antibody is instead a countermeasure against XSpirals. Different purpose but it still, you know, has one.
But in general, you will never see or hear the term "X-Antibody" in any setting in which it isn't relevant. In Cyber Sleuth, despite there being multiple "natural carriers", it's all completely irrelevant. Same with -next 0rder-. This is why even though Alphamon is stronger than Omegamon in Chronicle, there's no meaningful distinction between their powerlevels outside of things related to that.
>you will never see or hear the term "X-Antibody" in any setting in which it isn't relevant. In Cyber Sleuth, despite there being multiple "natural carriers", it's all completely irrelevant.
Anon, it doesn't have to be story relevant to exist.
>there's no meaningful distinction between their powerlevels outside of things related to that.
Yeah there is, the Alpha inforce. Even if you were to ignore the X antibody it has it would still have that ability while the Omega in force is exclusive to Omega X.
Speaking of forces Ulforce Veedramon is stronger as well due to its namesake the Ulforce.
The Alpha inForce never comes up in things in which the X-Antibody isn't explicitly present. Again, Alphamon will generally always be roughly equal to Omegamon. If there's no Omegamon X-Antibody due to the absence of the X-Program, then either Alphamon's power is diminished or Omegamon's power is raised to compensate. There are more things in which Omegamon X is absent than things in which it's present, while the inverse is true for Alphamon. If there's no such thing as Omegamon X within a given medium, then Alphamon isn't going to totally overwhelm vanilla Omegamon.
Hell, vanilla Omegamon arbitrary bequeaths the Omega inForce to OmegaShoutmon in Xros Wars.
>The Alpha inForce never comes up in things in which the X-Antibody isn't explicitly present.
That's false you've already discounted Cyber Sleuth as a game that has the X antibody yet it's mentioned in the entry for Alpha
>A member of the Royal Knights. Despite being a knight, this Digimon is a counter to them, and normally it does not show itself. With its blue mantle, it is called the Aloof Hermit and occupies the Empty Seat in the Royal Knights. It possesses the ultimate ability called Alpha inForce which instantly replays what happened in battle. Its special moves are Excalibur Gradalpha that draws light from a magic circle, piercing the enemy and Soul Digitalization where it creates a huge magic circle to summon a mythic monster.
This is what I mean, you're assuming lore doesn't exist because it isn't relevant to the story.
>Hell, vanilla Omegamon arbitrary bequeaths the Omega inForce to OmegaShoutmon in Xros Wars.
That's because these Force abilities are independent to the antibody.
Omegamon has the ability but can't access it itself without the antibody much like how the Guilmon line has the power of the digital hazard but without the antibody it can't access it without becoming Megidramon or Chaos Dukemon in the case of Dukemon becoming unbalanced.
The profiles are copy-pasted word for word from the Digimon Reference Book, but Alphamon doesn't use the Alpha inForce in the story nor in gameplay. Alphamon is not explicitly superior to Omegamon in things in which Omegamon X does not exist. Except in gameplay I guess, but Omegamon being a shitter in gameplay is basically an inevitability by this point. I can't remember the last time WarGreymon wasn't better.
>but Alphamon doesn't use the Alpha inForce in the story nor in gameplay
Which is what I mean, you're acting as if it doesn't exist because it isn't relevant to the story when it's a part of the lore.
>Alphamon is not explicitly superior to Omegamon in things in which Omegamon X does not exist.
The alpha inforce, we've been over this.
Name one time Omegamon's performance was noticeably worse than Alphamon's outside of Chronicle and X-evolution.
Cyber Sleuth
I mean outside of gameplay. I somehow get the feeling that when the devs balanced these games, they didn't go out of their way to make Omegamon shittier than most other Ultimates, it's just something that kinda happens over and over again. I don't think that means that Omegamon is shitter than WarGreymon in terms of lore.
Alphamon did more in Cyber Sleuth than Omegamon storywise too. Omega barely did shit after Nokia asspulled him out.
That's just opportunity. It speaks nothing of powerlevels, it just means Omegamon wasn't physically present. It had no idea where LordKnightmon even was. That doesn't mean Alphamon is more powerful than Omegamon, nor is it ever portrayed as such in Cyber Sleuth.
I get the feeling that you just REALLY desperately want parity across all media and stories so much that you'll stubbornly cling to your silly notions. Contrary to what you seem to believe, the majority of writers for Digimon stories don't actually adhere to the central Bandai canon and even the Digimon Reference Book itself contradicts itself frequently between profiles. You want the X-Antibody to exist across all Digital Worlds, but you also accept that the X-Program and Project Ark doesn't exist across all Digital Worlds.
>Alphamon doesn't have the X-Antibody in worlds in which the X-Program doesn't exist
The frick are you talking about?
The X antibody exists in all worlds through natural carriers who have it by random chance like Alphamon who we know is a prototype digimon by the interface on its head like the others in the Dorumon and Ryudamon line. Unless you're you're saying that program X predates most digimon.
I never got to play Next Order, but I did play Re:Digitize and I think one of the biggest problems mechanically is unironically the introduction of megas. It destroyed the game balance.
In DW, you can explore most of File Island with a champion level. The game is balanced in a way that a champion is "good enough" for all but the most challenging content, and it works because it's the highest level that's guaranteed to the player. If you're well equipped with items and techniques you can even do with a champion level for those harder fights. Adding megas and trying to balance for them meant you spent more time training and raising and less time exploring. Ultimates were no longer something special, a reward for good care that you only needed for the absolute peak of the game. Instead you had to get ultimates, and you had to get megas, too. It dragged down everything and it's no wonder exploration suffered in the sequels.
I understand that we can't exactly go back to a time before megas, but maybe we should go back to the DW1 approach where megas exist but they're treated as ultimates that are harder to obtain.
That's not gonna happen. There are more Ultimate-level species than there are Perfect-level species. Frankly, we're not really at a point anymore where anything below Ultimate even matters.
Not just that, but the Ultimate level is pretty badly fricked due to the dramatic powerlevel discrepancies between individual species. Usually it's not that big of a deal in video games, like Dynasmon isn't particularly superior to other Ultimate Digimon despite being a Royal Knight. But when you get into shit like Omegamon which is a fusion of two Ultimates, or Ultimates that evolve from other Ultimates, shit gets bad.
Imperialdramon is the biggest and most prominent example of this. First you have Dragon Mode. Then you have Fighter Mode which is 3x stronger than Dragon Mode. And then you have Paladin Mode which is even stronger still. And they're all the same level.
Not true. Next order on vita sold 64k first week. Re:Digitize sold well too. 153k total for psp and over 71k on improved 3ds version.
No, but it wasn't good either. They worried too much about replicating superficial elements instead of the design priorities that made the original so popular.
No creative team with the skillset to make a proper Digimon World sequel wants to work on Digimon. They'd rather make their own game without all the franchise red tape.
I don't know why Redigitize and Last Order get so much shit. I liked both games.
see
and
Redigitize is okay. Next Order is fricking dumb
>Two partners is a bad idea
>wienerblocks your progression because there's a lolplot and this ranges from recruitable Digimon to skills that makes the game better
>lolplot isn't even good and was the major kick off for people complaining about OMEEEEEGAmon being fricking everywhere
>Crafting and material grind. I am REALLY understating how cancer it is,but it is cancer.
>Has EXTREMELY cringe town progression as it just magically becomes a fricking metropolis really early on. Even Re;Digitizes already being a city made sense since it's not like expansive Sewers and Waterways didn't already exist and needed to get cleaned up a bit
Don't see the issue with two partners. Desynching them is pretty convenient for training too.
>Don't see the issue with two partners
This is not Pokemon, Digimon is all about connecting with your soulmate and develop a special relationship that makes your other half grow stronger. Having two partners is cheating and immoral.
Adventure is not the center of the Digimon universe.
It should be, Adventure is the SOUL of the franchise.
You know it's a sign of autism when you can't accept anything other than the exact same thing forever right?
Maybe, but you can't deny the anime is based on the premise of Adventure instead of the games or the V-Pets.
>the anime is based on the premise of Adventure
What?
A group of kids getting partners and going into an adventure is basically Adventure premise and the core of the next seasons.
The original premise of Digimon was more like Yu-Gi-Oh!; with tamers fighting other tamers with their little kaijus in cybernetic arenas. Read C'mon Digimon for what a season based on that could have been.
In 02, the cast go in and out of the Digital World freely.
In Tamers, they don't even enter the Digital World at all until past the halfway point.
In Savers, the Digital World doesn't feature all that much either.
The Digimon IP is versatile enough that you can do a variety of things with it. If they did things your way, it'd just be the same shit over and over for eternity.
if we did anon's way we would get another digimon adventure:
See, unlike everyone else on Ganker and Ganker, I didn't have an issue with Colon, but I don't particularly wanna see a Colon 02.
i didn't particularly hate colon, but like it just really felt contrived at times
I still want the original Frontier concept of kids fighting in a battle royale in a coliseum
Or the original Savers concept of gangs vs gangs with banchous at leaders
I want a concept of any kind that uses a setting with a massive backstory like Frontier's without squandering it.
That first episode and the background given to the ancient warriors and the archangels were so promising yet barely matter in the grand scheme.
An anime that uses either pre-existing lore or makes its own and has it matter to plot and themes alike would be excellent.
Fire, light and dark were really the only ones that had some effort put into their designs.
It's not that the others lack effort, they're just going for something besides "generic" coolness, for lack of a better term. In which case, only wood fails at looking like an ancient warrior even with that in mind, maybe also earth and ice.
Fire, light and dark are the only ones where ancient, human, beast and hybrid are designed with the same parts. Thus they are the only ones that received effort.
Remember when the west pitched Digimon Arc V?
No? Explain
Digimon Force Three
>arc V
but the pic is just them merged with a digimon and the franchise has no hippos to play card games on.
forgot pic
>Digimon Arc-V
I guess hypno is the one kink Digimon is lacking in.
I mean, would you count Homeostasis taking over people?
Not really, because another entity entirely is taking over, rather than the original personality getting distorted or shut down.
Pretty sure they're criticising your wording. Also the closest series to adventure in that regard is probably Xros.
And v-tamer did it before the anime.
>but you can't deny the anime is based on the premise of Adventure
Huh?
The anime and its derivates is about that, other media is just about raising cool monsters by feeding them and training them and making them fight
Because people by large don't like or care about that 2 or 3 or even 6 partner bullshit especially in a DW1 game where one is bad enough.
Especially when all it does is lead to a complete casualization of mechanics and you get frickers like
Who just drag their balls around from all the complications it causes in the base Tamogachi idea.
They did like 5 times and nobody bought these so idk what you're saying
well, no one is buying this shit either

I dont know how digimon does it
because of how sincere and unapologetic they are about making them.
What's the point of being a digimon genwunner? It's not even a pokémon deal where the artstyle changed completely, digimon still look the fricking same as they did 20 years ago
Yup.
I mean there are WAY more humons, but their style hasn't changed, just the quantity.
The same huh
Yeah
>colours = art style
ok
Are you ignoring the Xro wars monsters, hell frontier was a significant shift in looks.
Xros and Frontier digimon weren't a drastic design shift. Even Xros ups didn't diverge too much.
This seriously would look out of place if it was placed around the classic digimon, and the ones made for the Savers/Accel are too. Xros mons was just not looked like digimon half the time.
>This seriously would look out of place if it was placed around the classic digimon
Not really. I mean, not in that particular style but the design itself fits in.
We're going have to agree to disagree then.
For the lack of a better way to say it classic G1 and G2 had the look of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures. With a lot of details and bumpiness. And Tuwarmon looks like an action figure design to have very few paint apps.
>For the lack of a better way to say it classic G1 and G2 had the look of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures. With a lot of details and bumpiness
That's not a very good argument given mon from later generations still have that level of detail.
How is that different in comparison with the first cyborgmons?
The metallic portions look too clean if you ask me, Metalmamemon and the other older cyborg designs were extremely grungy and looked like borderline bodyhorror, like the metal parts were keeping them alive and not just suits of armor.
>Metalmamemon and the other older cyborg designs were extremely grungy and looked like borderline bodyhorror
What on earth are you even talking about.
Why are the little missiles some digimon launch are like little fish?
A key element of Perfect-level Digimon back then was that they tended be varying degrees of "unnatural". For all intents and purposes, Adults were the "natural" end of a Digimon's life cycle, while Perfect was composed of "forced" enhancements or bizarre mutants. The general pattern the original Digital Monster line where up to Adult things were much more "natural" but then things get kinda weird with the Perfects; each V-pet had three Perfects and at least one was always a cyborg, one was a small mutant-like thing and one was a strange mysterious lifeform that no one really understood. Sometimes they blurred the line a bit like with Giromon and Nanomon, and you also had the Adult-level Centalmon that didn't look remotely natural in any way, but they kinda sorta tried to keep to this pattern.
When the Pendulum series introduced the Ultimate level, things started changing significantly. The Perfect level stopped being composed of just cyborgs and freaks, and instead you started seeing mons that were much more in line with how the Adult level was originally treated like Triceramon. The Ultimate level itself was generally a lot less "gross" or "weird" than the Perfect level ever was, instead being more about hard refinement. I think this concept is best exemplified by 2000's HiAndromon. As opposed the to clearly unfinished prototype Andromon, HiAndromon is much more refined and clean. The Ultimate level is what you get when you iron out the flaws of the Perfect level, hence why very few Ultimate-level Cyborg Digimon ever have the grunginess of Perfect-level Cyborgs.
They've been dabbing more in those grungy designs again lately
Undead Digimon always have to be kinda gross by default, so not much has changed in that department. And Ultimate-level zombie is still fundamentally a moving carcass.
That's a tree not a zombie
It's a zombie tree. Entmon is explicitly a cluster of dead trees and insects.
>A Plant Digimon with a body woven and fused together from dead trees. Its whole body has rotted away in places, and mold grows on parts where the bark has been exposed. Its body is packed with a large number of insects, serving as the muscles that move its body around. It is very terrifying to see the insects spill out of the joints all over its body each time it takes off with its dead leaf wings.
That style wouldn't but this would.
It helps to bridge the gap but I still see a different artists' work. But maybe this is just my dislike for xros talking.
While ballistamon is lightly beaten up and has maybe one color too many. There isn't that much to it, it's just a robot with a beetle head.
>There isn't that much to it, it's just a robot with a beetle head.
Do you have any idea how many digimon that can apply to.
No honestly.
No frick, I want new digimon in my nu-digimon world
it was called next order
it was a flop
>JUST MAKE DIGIMON WORLD CLONES FFS
Stop false-flagging as a worldgay. You're not doing anyone a favor.
It the best selling vidya ever but it's far from being a disaster like, say, Sonic 06.
Digimon World flopped you moron. They should just make a game based on the digimon tcg to promote it.
The original PS1 Digimon card battle was great. The endgame decks got kinda samey though.
>They should just make a game based on the digimon tcg to promote it.
They don't want it because they want people to buy the cards, plus don't want to cannibalize the physical game.
>they want people to buy the cards
>print a serial number on each card
>input it in game to get a copy of that card in the game
>?????
>PROFIT!
>plus don't want to cannibalize the physical game.
That's not how it works. Look at Yugioh and to a lesser extent pokemon, a good video game TCG bolsters sales of the physical game. At least three people in my friend group have gone HARD on YGO since master duel came out.
Master Duel has actually made it impossible for me to go back. I need Maxx Sneed at three and Mystic Mime banned for me to go back.
That's because you suck.
>so we have an excuse to abandon a franchise
But a new Digimon Story is already confirmed with the 12 Olympos.
>let's make yet another thread shitting on Survive or Digimon as a whole
>just make World clones
They tried and they can't seem to replicate what made World 1 great.
The only people who want "Digimon world 1 clones" are people who won't buy or play the game cause they don't like Digimon anyway and they only have nostalgia for a game they played as a kid.
>JUST MAKE DIGIMON WORLD CLONES
they tried, you didn't buy it
I did. It was fun but weird
Never played OG digimon world tho
God I got filtered with this game, maybe I should try it again. Why syncing life cycles so ass before you can even get the items and MarineAngemon to help
the only commercially successful digimon game is cyber sleuth
i actually like VNs and enjoyed survive, but it's baffling how they didn't double down as hard as they could on the story formula asap
Survive was supposed to be an in-between game. The next Story game (the series Cyber Sleuth is from) was already in production at the time. It still is at this very moment. Survive's delays fricked up the schedule.
I enjoyed survive too, i had fun with it
Digimon is a shit franchise, kys
I just want Next Order on PC.
Same tbh senpai
No you don't. I played it through all the way and it was very disappointing.
I do. I played it all the way through on PS4 twice and loved it
I played the original bad vita version and enjoyed it. Amazing music too.
this is why digimon will always fail
pikachu has a timeless design
agumon looks like 90s trash
Digimon World was shit, all of them, it just won't ever work. You can stop repeating this awful meme now.
The people who want Digimon World 1 clones simply don't understand that any attempts at a future World-like game will remove all the appealing things about it in the first place. World 1 was a product of its time, from its graphics, to its sound design, to the game structure "sins" it was allowed to commit. This is never going to happen again.
You're going to be given a map. You're going to be given an evolution chart. Everything will be hinted at, no secrets. No prerendered backgrounds.
Next Order's quality of life changes should be what people see when they think of a World 1 remake really.
>Digimon are never referred to as Digimon
>it's evolution, not digivolution in this game
>no references to them being digital or data
This game could have had original monsters and it wouldn't have changed. Why is it a Digimon game again?
Honestly the digital aspect of the Digimon franchise is worthless. The monsters are just cool. The only reason they are "digital" was because the original v-pets were literally electronic monsters and the franchise grew from there. The only thing that has stayed consistent with the series seems to be that Digimon live in another world/dimension/internet and humans interact with them.
Based
I fricking hate the cringe western only term digivolution, makes me cringe everytime
They mention it at the end of the game and call them "Digimon" officially, moral route only ofc
you didn't even play the game
In Japan it was always just evolution.
>>it's evolution, not digivolution in this game
Dubgay detected
>>it's evolution, not digivolution in this game
Because its Japanese dipshit.
They've always said "evolution"(shinka) while "digivolution" is west only.
>>it's evolution, not digivolution in this game
It was never Digivolution in the original script you Amanda Anaconda brainwashed twit
Christ everyones so up in arms about shitting on dubs and does their fricking research to know the differences but when it comes to Digimon that had one of if not THE egregious dubs they're like YEAH THAT'S HOW IT WAS MEANT TO BE
This game is legitimately the closest to an actual digimon game.
The information you take for granted as fact is just not known by the characters
You know Cyber Sleuth 2 is in production?
It's not Cyber Sleuth 2
Then what is it? Something completely new?
Cyber Sleuth is part of a series of games called Digimon Story. Ever seen the games "Digimon World DS" or "Digimon World Dawn/Dusk"? Those are actually Digimon Story games, they were just localized as "World" games for some inane reason.
The point is, the game being produced right now is a new entry in the Digimon Story series, but it has explicitly been confirmed to NOT take place in the Cyber Sleuth universe. What we know is that this new game will be set 50/50 in the human world and the digital world, and that the main actors are the Olympos XII (just like in Cyber Sleuth the main actors were the Royal Knights).
Oh. Forgot that Digimon Story is its own type in the franchise. Also Olympos XII? Nice. These guys need more screentime. Some of my favorites...and some not so favored by me.
From what I've seen, Digimon fans don't even like Digimon World as a series, they just like World 1.
Because most of the "World" games are actually completely unrelated except in name, and the only other two games that ARE related are in consoles nobody fricking owns.
Wasn't the PS4 the most successful of its generation?
Yes, same with the 3DS
People always make excuses for the World games, but I think it's time to accept two things: 1) The success of a game franchise is largely dependent on how many normalgays play it, not how many core fans.
2) The traditional World games are niche as all hell.
The main issue for me it's that Bandai tarnished the World brand with unrelated games and when they chose to release continuations of the original one, it was already late.
I don't really think that if they didn't do that, the World games would be selling massive gangbusters today. In fact, I don't think things would have changed all that much. Hell, I'm pretty sure the entire reason they changed gears so much was because the original World didn't sell as much as they wanted it to.
Buy a digivice b***h.
Digimon is only good as a vpet. Go get yourself a DMX or Vital Bracelet if you want to enjoy Digimon.

>JUST MAKE DIGIMON WORLD CLONES
No. No one wants that. Stop pretending you want that, OP.
I want that. I just keep forgetting that Digimon is incapable of making good games and just remember the one time it made an okay game.
Everyone wants that, like they want 90s JRPGs in modern format. The companies just don't get what made those games good so their clones suck every time.
I don't understand the outrage against this. People complaining it's a visual novel and they were "tricked" into buying it. Are they moronic? If you looked into it for 5 seconds you could see it was a visual novel with occasional SRPG elements. Like Persona is a Visual Novel with minor dungeo crawler elements.
Being "tricked" into buying or even just playing something is easily the worst excuse someone can come up with here.
It's Digimon living rent-free in pokegays heads as usual
We only learned how much of it was a VN at Digimon con and the trailers focus on the SRPG part a lot more than it should.
>and the trailers focus on the SRPG part
No they fricking don't
>and the trailers focus on the SRPG part a lot more than it should
I quickly checked three different trailers and two of them only show like 5 seconds of the SRPG portions, and the one that focus the most of it is literally called "gameplay trailer" and shows less than a minute of it.
>digimon does a persona clone with some references to DW to bait nostalgia
>"HOLY SHIT GUYS IS DIGIMON WORLD" say people who never played the original
>become the most easy to spot secondaries in the franchise
>claim they love a series because they bought some games
>claim they liked the games but scream in pain and agony at the mention of DW
>hate survive for being diferent while long time fans are enjoying it just fine
>no interest in the vital bracelet or owning a vpet, haven't even watched a single anime
you parasites only care about online drama.
Just remake world 2
It was comfy, but another digimon dungeon crawler is a never ever sorry. Imo the capture and evolution mechanics were the most fun in the series. It was really satisfying to get what you wanted and get badass skill on your mons
yes
Nobody cares about dungeon crawlers anymore.
Too hardcore for you Tyrone?
> Video is 8 years old
> Still applies to this very thread
>Remake a bad Mystery Dungeon clone.
>When even actual Mystery Dungeon has trouble selling these days.
Yeah, there's potential but it needs extensive rework.
Why would they make World clones when the two latest Story games sold well and were critically well received?
Can someone explain the state of affairs for Digimon in 2022?
>saw Adventure and 02 as a kid
>have been OOTL on Digimon media since
>tempted to watch the remake of Adventure
>tempted to buy Survive
Is my boy Gabumon in this game?
There is a currently airing anime called Ghost Game. Survive is expensive so personally I would pirate first before buying, but do whatever.
>Is my boy Gabumon in this game?
Yeah
Is Ghost Game still airing? I don't like jumping into a series and then have to wait for more episodes.
Yes
Ghost Game is full monster-of-the-week shit. It's not like you would miss a lot.
Different anon, so no overarching plot?
Yeah it’s an episodic show.
It has one , but it barely shows up. If you could rewatch the series only for the plot related stuff, it wouldnt reach 15 episodes.
Gabumon's in the game. You get him later on in the story and can catch one in on or two single time encounters. I liked the game personally, doing a second playthrough now for the true ending
buy the cards pirate the game
>Anime called Ghost Game is airing, everyone's pretty positive about it.
>TCG came out within I think the past year or two and has been very well received.
The card art is fantastic in my opinion.
>Both Cyber bawds just got ported as a single game collection to Switch, Xbone, and PC with a host of quality of life changes, all the DLC included, and balances (Which PS4 and Vita didn't get because screw you for supporting it first).
It's also now on sale for $20 seemingly permanently since Amazon and Gamestop both have physical copies for $20 without a discount price anymore.
>Survive just came out after years of delays.
>A new Digimon Story was announced a couple months back and revolves around the 12 Olympos.
>They've been focusing on the Vital Bracelet (If you've used the old Digivices from back in the day or the Megaman PET it's basically that but a watch) for a few years and keep expanding it and releasing new iterations that are better than the previous ones on top of them just recently localizing the watch in the American market since they already localized the apps months ago.
>playing as the boy in Cyber bawds
shameful
>Ragging on Takumi when the girl was added in at the last minute and all her dialogue is just male-gendered anyway.
>A new Digimon Story was announced a couple months back and revolves around the 12 Olympos
What the frick, where was this announcement?
it was mentioned in the digimon con
Is there any video of the panels? I totally missed digimon con and coverage of it at the time
>I totally missed digimon con
Good. Literally nothing happened there.
The existence of this new game was confirmed in 2017, and the involvement of the Olympos XII was confirmed on this year's DigimonCon.
why is the 4th option not listed
>Can someone explain the state of affairs for Digimon in 2022?
Ghost Game (Anime) is great
Survive (Game) is great
Vital Braclet (Virtual pet) is great
TCG is great
We eating good
Ghost Game is boring. All but two of the characters have no personality.
>Ghost Game (Anime) is great
Ghost Game is Scooby-Doo tier.
>hating scooby-doo
NGMI
Ghost game is average compared to other Digimon stories. I honestly think survive story is really good and they should start turning such concepts into an anime instead of VNs because people hate reading and I'm afraid such a story won't be available for a wider audience.
I feel like the team behind Digimon is almost getting it. They just aren't putting their best ideas in the right place yet.
I'm looking forward to the next story game. If they just have a higher budget and make the places/ dungeons more interesting and creative it will be amazing.
>I feel like the team behind Digimon is almost getting it. They just aren't putting their best ideas in the right place yet.
They had ideas, they just lack money. Basically the last DigiCon was a cry for help from Habu to Namco and other investors to trust in the franchise and in the following projects.
They would never have Digimon kill and eat people on the same time slot as Kamen Rider, a show where parents were outraged because damn it Ghost was too spooky.
But the monsters in Kamen Rider murder all the time. Sure the kill counts are way lower now but there are still a decent amount of death. Also Ghost game had an episode where digitamamon ate a bunch of people.
I'd argue that what Digitamamon did is very different from literally scarfing a person down your mouth and showing their arm hanging out through their teeth. Plus everyone always ends up okay in the end.
And Kamen Rider isn't what it used to be. I remember when they actually showed corpses. That's not really a thing anymore.
this didn't start with Reiwa but its cranked to 11 there, now in Kamen rider it feels like villains can't even be villains any more, they always get reedemed or give them a last minute sob story to justify them, we would never get a Ouja like character nowadays
See, as Kamen Rider became more lucrative in terms of toy sales, they became more and more incentivized to give into the soccer moms' demands. Toei absolutely does not want to return to the Hibiki/Kabuto era. Ever since the show became more and more kid-friendly, the toy sales shot up, OOO sold better than ever and things only improved from there.
And the problem is that's kinda what Digimon wants to be. So you see the issue. The trade-off of course is that video games don't really tend to be super lucrative when aimed at that age rating these days, hence why you don't see as many licensed kids' games anymore, so Bandai instead tries to market the games towards older fans. But if older fans could be satiated by something like that, there wouldn't be people constantly clamoring for an adaptation of Cyber Sleuth or Survive. It's all or nothing for some people.
They still show corpses though?
Black Sun doesn’t count. You’ll only win this argument if Geats shows some corpses.
>Black Sun doesn’t count.
I didn't post Black Sun, that is episode 39 of Kamen Rider Revice, the current show.
Ghost Game has got more daring than usual, but still there are zero consequences. The next episode is basically a reboot and all of them act as if nothing happened.
Woah what the frick I need to watch this now
if you want to see constant death watch either Kamen rider Faiz, Kabuto or Ryuki
Are all the seasons there own thing or is there a watch order?
They're all their own thing.
Practically all seasons are alone.
Mostly standalone except for anniversary series like Decade and Zi-o where older riders appear that said Decade mostly has older riders in universes with different stories so it would mostly be for the lore behind it rather than continuity.
Oh and crossover movies sometimes tend to be in continuity as well.
Whats your wemb from specifically
Kamen Rider 01 episode 1
Personally I’d recommend Kamen Rider Blade because it has a lot parallels to Digimon Tamers. So if you like one you’ll probably like the other.
i don't renember digimon murdering people left and right in the old shows at all
Yeah but it should be allowed. Because Kamen Rider has that.
>read that Ryo___ dies and is a guarantee in first playthrough because _he can only live if you have 30+ affinity, which can only be done in NG+
>only in chapter 2 and have 45 affinity in my first playthrough
Huh?
The game has a flag that only flips when you're on NG+. You need 36+ affinity AND to be in NG+
>JUST MAKE DIGIMON WORLD CLONES FFS
They would have to figure out what made the first one so good in order to do that, because looking at both Re:Digitize and Next Order, they haven't got a fricking clue. Both being pretty bad games.
If they did a Digimon World game they’d have to make a ton of new Digimon, it’s not fun going down an evolution path if you already know what’s coming.
Most people will just look at a guide to get he evolution they want anyways.
Or just use one of the hundreds of unused digimon in the games
Who is this mindbroken schizo who keeps shiposting about this game?
>He doesn't know who Eric is
Digimon is the arena shooter of JRPGs
Bros did I screw up? I'm on NG+ going for the true end, everyone's alive
You pick the moral path (left) for the true ending
Damn, I picked wrathful cuz I already got the moral end. Guide didn't mention picking anything so I thought I screwed up by getting an option
Woah so you can keep ryo and shuuji alive and so wrathful route?!
*do wrathful route?!
Yes. Gonna see how it ends
Nice, tell us the difference then
Seems to just be the true ending, so i guess it doesn't matter
Damn what a shame
If I register on Bandai’s loyalty thing with Steam do I still get points for games I already own or only new games?
Re:Digitize sucked ass.
What didn't you like about it? As a huge fan of the original DW1, I enjoyed Re:Digitize a lot more than Digimon Survive...
If i cant get lilithmon then i will not buy!
Okay from the previous thread I have a question, so could a digimon game set in a post-apocalyptic or dystopian world could it work?
>digimon game set in a post-apocalyptic or dystopian world
So SMT?
I think it would work great. The wrathful route actually opened the door to that possibility and I got very hopeful from sensing the potential.
BUT seeing how they aren't trying to make a game based on DW1 or the TCG, I don't have high hopes of them making an actual "good" digimon game.
Jesus it's children of the corn times a million with kids running around with nuke pals
>it's children of the corn
Nah, it's lord of the flies
Oops I got my murder children media mixed up
Terminator but with Digimons instead of T-800s.
Do people really hate survive that much? They said they were making a VN and they made a VN. Honestly my bar was set so low that I'm actually impressed with how well it turned out, could have been way worse in my mind. Way more interesting to me than slogging through Cyber bawds story.
It's obviously a stepping stone to a potential series revolving around tactic-based gameplay. They were either severely hindered by lockdown procedures or always planned to ease fans into a new style of digimon game. OP is just being a mega gay by implying they made a bad game on purpose.
I enjoy what we got but I definitely have my share of critiques about the combat and such. I'm hoping that Survive sells well enough that Bandai will give some funding to future Digimon games instead of treating it like the unwanted stepchild
>Nobody want work on it
>Keep kodomuke face but still want pander older audience.
>Brand don't get any fricking market besides "hey guise remember us from 20 years ago"
I feel they just keep alive due legacy and brand money. At least with stuff like ygo they realised that current state is kid repellent and rebooted.
They should give up and make a teenager IP like purseowner.
>shitty English and moronic
The classic combo. They don't need to reboot shit, they just need to actually put some effort into the series and give it a serious direction for once instead of throwing out several sloppily-done ideas, getting middling sales, then going 'oh I guess nobody wants Digimon.' before leaving it to rot. Doing that teenage IP reboot would just be in the same vein.
>Nobody want work on it
Because Bandai's giving them no fricking funding. No matter how much you love something nobody's gonna work for free.
ive been told this is mostly a VN. Does the tactics bit have depth to it at all?
Currently making my way through WOTL, and looking forward to something next.
honestly i can't bring myself to play survive anymore the SPRG drags and even the exploration parts are kinda grating now.
I look at a game like this and wonder where it all went wrong. How hard is it to make a fun and good game? Especially with an IP like this, you could generate so many cool games from it.
Then they take years to pump out the most lifeless boring shit imaginable.
All I want is a game that captures the mystery and excitement of the early internet like old digimon did but zoomers don't have nostalgia for that time so it will never be made. Instead we will get a bunch of clueless old homosexuals churning out shitty homosexual smt clones and now this, which isn't even a game.
The mystery and excitement is gone in real life and even if they remade the game almost 1 to 1 you would still complain
If digimons come from the digital world and the internet, what digimon is responsible for all the porn?
Lilithmon
Makes sense
Im pretty sure the switch cant even run digimon world
Whats wrong with Next order or did you just no play it at all?
>Whats wrong with Next order
not on PC
The two partners ruined the fun.
It has a shitty anime story instead of being open world.
Two partners is awful if you don't keep them in sync with each other and having to raise stats via battles rather than pressing triangle in the gym seems better but sucks in actuality. The games fun but its probably the worst of the World 1 style
>Two partners is awful if you don't keep them in sync with each other
What? The fastest way to raise stats quickly is to desync them by a few days and use your ultimate or mega to one-shot enemies and powertrain your newly hatched rookie (use the block command to nullify damage).
I saw a video that told me it was bad and I also didn't want to pay the money for a console game even though my brother has one and I could have played it
>HARU
>ARUkenimon
FRICKING LOL
Yeah, they telegraphed that twist too much.
>twist
i thought the MC was the real Haru
so i got twisted in a an expected twist
i went full moron, i thought Haru was the one who got split into two
Kinda KINO
Why is there so much stupid repetitive shit
>The sewer segment where you repeatedly get surprised by the fake partners that are actually seadramon and have to repeat this four times
>The ultimate evolutions all have the exact same format and are just shoehorned in wherever
>Evolutions are treated as non-canon past the moment they happen
>Have to go talk to everyone to progress the plot and they all say nearly the same thing every time
I am having a good enough time to want to keep going, but it's starting to drag.
I just beat Piedmon, so I'm hoping it will get less repetitive from here.
That fricker one shots my ultimate 50+ plus digimons hard. Well to be fair I didn't feed or gave my digimon any defense equipment. I only beat the fricker after debuffing him and surrounding him
Are you on hard? I beat him on normal with low level 30s, but barely scraped by. Ended up having Weregarurumon one-shot him, but only on my second attempt, since he missed his attack on my first try then got one-shot between the counter and follow up attack. Some of my guys got killed early by the skullgreymon launching mortars across the map before I evolved, so I couldn't finish him off myself.
It was hard and the fricker one shot the back up. It doesn't help he has speed charge and x heal to tag team with skullgreymon if you dont kill it fast enough
I really wanted to give this game a chance because I heard it was like Nobunaga's Ambition and Pokemon conquest but I do NOT feel like going through 45 minutes of exposition before getting a TASTE of gameplay like in Cyber Sleuth.
The game should've come out 17 years ago when Digimon hype was still ascending
>just wanted Three Houses with Digimon
>get a VN instead
what went wrong, bros?
Nothing, Fire Emblem is shit.
The first dev team they got was for mobage and not real games.
>sitting back drinking and letting the game run on auto
>hold up gay put everything down so you can scroll the screen left and right
Frick off. You're not fooling anyone into thinking you're anything more than a visual novel by including this.
When is he coming back bros? He practically has a whole line set up for him
The new dim
You guys have yours right?
Nah. I'm not paying that much for this.
>paying
1000 points on Bamco's rewards
Is yhis Europe only? I literally just bought thre Jap ones for the art because I don't play the game and I will ferl very stupid if this isn't just Europe
It might be come to think of it, I never checked.
>I literally just bought thre Jap ones for the art because I don't play the game
That's why I bought the Ulforce deck.
Might grab the angewomon deck next.
I love the art in the Angewomon deck.
Tell me about it
How do you get them
I dont know what that means. There is a bandai club
Bandai epic rewards.
Basically Club Nintendo but for Bamco.
I see thanks
I wish my country had these but card games sell really poorly here. Gotta drive to the capital to even get MTG or YGO. I got two Digimon decks and some packs in Prague and the game is really good, and art is amazing
Can't wait for Story Cyber bawds 2
Sayo > All those girls
Here you go anon :^)
I fricking hate these designs the more I see them what were they thinking?
>just make a clone of a bad game
why?
Which digimon game is the closest to world one? That's the only one I really loved.
Re:digitized and Next Order
Thanks, unfortunately nothing on pc, but I can always emulate.
If you emulate Re:Digitize, make sure it's the 3DS version
Why is that? I was going to do the PSP version because I like ppsspp more than citra.
3DS is the updated version and has things the PSP version lacks.
Ok, that works. Thanks again.
It has more Digimon, more quests and more mechanics. Because it's not just a port but rather an upgrade.
Was it bad?
It's a visual novel
It's barely a game so people who want to play video games are gonna be disappointed.
Palmon is my favorite 'mon. What's yours?
Also, I've been playing re-digitize to practice 日本語 on the 3ds. It's fun.
Cute!
You guys wanna make a fan game?
No fakemons
Obviously they don't know how to make a digimon game, so it's time to do it ourselves.
If you pay me, sure. I ain't doing that shit for free.
It's just supposed to just be a fun thing, man
stop being so israeli
Monster collecting, breeding, training.
Open design, not open world but areas are blocked off by level gap so you can get there is you want for ng+
RPG mechanics.
That's all I have that I just thought of in the last few seconds since I started this post
Do you even know anything about Digimon or are you just a world 1 gay with nostalgia?
The shows are good, data squad was the best
see
Actually I don't, I hate all nupokemon
I want it to be a perfect amalgam
Well I'm running solo, I don't want my ego to consume the whole thing
My top three games are Skyrim, Minecraft, and Monster Hunter. I think that most digimon games suffer from being too Japanese. Funny I know, but true none the less.
I like the party mechanism with three main digimon and three support, but I also want an RTS and ffw auto play option so grinding is simple and passive but progression is longer and more methodical.
But I don't want it to be like world championship, holy frick
>Skyrim, Minecraft, and Monster Hunter
Red flag
>I think that most digimon games suffer from being too Japanese.
That's the least of their problems
>But I don't want it to be like world championship
Championship sucks but I'd like a version of it that doesn't. It's essentially Digimon Monster Rancher.
Come back when you have a better laid out plan. Like how do the battles work? Or evolution for that matter.
Sounds like you just want it to be pokemon but with digimon.
What genre is it going to be?
Survive, Next Order, Cyber Sleuth, World 1 and 2, were all good. Haven't played any others. Still a better track record than Pokemon in terms of quality
>VN good
>VN in disguise good
Cyber Sleuths was alright, I liked the roster but it was obviously a VN, the digimon need to be the primal focus, I like the bawds in the game though. The cop was hottest.
Anyways, if I wanted to read a book I'd read a book. So in essence: not a game.
My favorites were digimon world ds and dusk/dawn
The problem is all the games have problems that make them subpar games, but the substance behind the idea: digimon, is good.
>but it was obviously a Vn
Haven't noticed I skipped all the talking. Only played it for the digimon and was satisfied. Wish they did more with the digimon world at the end, though
wtf BASED is pic rel (You)?
The image that destroyed Ganker and digigays
Yes
>I liked the roster but it was obviously a VN,
Nah, the defining factor of a VN is choice influencing the story. CS had a lot of cutscenes but no choice
VN but worse I guess
>Digimon game is released
>Single sperg has autistic meltdown and spends weeks desperately trying to eradicate all discussion by making hate threads to bait jannies into deleting all Digimon threads on-sight
It happened in identical manners to Next Order and both Cyber bawd games. I'm now convinced it's a single Hispanic autist.
It's strange, you don't see that level of shitposting here unless it's a Nintendo game so I wonder why he hates digimon so much?
Nintendies hate anything with sovl
* I am moron
Case in point.
You mean OP? Thats just the usual way to start threads here
I am double moron and drunk
Thoughts on this design
Convenient, I can frick her then commission her to draw the doujin of us fricking
Appmon deserved better, the 3DS game had a fantastic strategic combat system.
Yeah, I have heard the 3DS Appmon game was actually pretty good. But that game also had zero marketing plus it was released in the weeks between a Pokemon mainline game and a Yo-kai watch game, so it never had a chance.
The main reason the X-Antibody doesn't appear in things is because it brings way too much baggage. Frontier didn't need it, Savers didn't need it, Cyber Sleuth didn't need it, Colon didn't need it, Next Order didn't need it, Ghost Game didn't need it and Survive didn't need it. It's just a massive pain in the ass and no one wants to deal with it. Plus, X Digimon tend to be significantly less popular than vanilla Digimon anyway so that's even less incentive. Seriously, Omega X only has a fraction of the popularity of the original Omega so it doesn't benefit anyone to have Omega X overshadow the original.
I want to frick a plant
Why is she so smug bros?
TACHIAGARE YUUSHA WA
BOKU NO NAKA NI IRU
SOBIETATSU TAAGET
MAKERU WAKE NI WA IKANAAAI
MOEGARE KODOU WA

TORIMODOSHI NI YUKUN DAAAAAA
ATSUI BATORU OKOSEEEEEEEEEEEE
Break up is the best 02 song.
Name a rookie you like.
Solarmon
Torn between Guilmon and Palmon.
I already posted Sangomon so look at ghosmon.
He better be in the new story game and ghost game
Gabumon. He's a subby little good boy.
For me, its Gabumon and Renamon which makes playing survive....interesting to say the least.
Terriermon!
Sistermon dicky
you can tell the combat didn't get much attention balance-wise.
>there's no reason to not be evolved to the max the whole battle. I don't even know what happens when you reach 0 sp.
>I don't think I've seen an attack that can hit a space 2 tiles high yet.
>every fight seems to just be a series of units being killed in one shot.
idk all attacks but terra force can attack two tiles high I think. Also later battles are more challenging if you didn't over level (I did because I enjoy the combat lol)
>there's no reason to not be evolved to the max the whole battle. I don't even know what happens when you reach 0 sp.
If you bum rush the enemies, the sp cost would not matter but having not enough space will turn you back to rookie. This only happened once in my playthough so far
do i want to play this game? Can i interact with the digimon somehow? in a massive coomer and i want to jerk off while i do shit like petting them or similar
LOL, Koraku got filtered. HARD.
Has Famitsu reviewed it yet? They're usually less moronic than westoid reviewers when rating nip games.
>Gettng filtered by being bored to hell
I hate kotsku, but it's hard to say you're being filtered when you just don't want to wait.
Journos really aren't human
Im shocked that their hitpiece isnt about how the game has no black people
Is EXTREME JIHAD in the game?
What about other armor level digimon?
Only appearence of the V-mon line in the game is Chibimon showing up in the True ending as sequelbait/02 reference
Oh, shame.
Armors rarely show up in games.
>you are stuck in the digital world and now you have to find a way to get back and it isn't a bad monster raising sim but even more of a SMT clone than cyber sleuth
Was that so hard
Frick off
>even more of a SMT clone than cyber sleuth
Why do people say this? It plays nothing like smt.
That's true it's only a persona clone in tone.
True, and the endings are far better than that of SMT games
>endings
moron.
What?
Why is this listed as a survival game?q
Because the challenge is to survive all the VN shit and not die of boredom.
>play tamagotchi
>get old man
>play digimon
>get nanimon
>play magical witches
>get SATAN
>they're all the same character
What's up with this cheap shit bandai? Can't think up of anything other than old men with moustaches?
What are the chances of a Survive 2 happening?
I think there is definitely potential there for a subseries and I hope that the headache that was development doesn't make them shelf the concept.
I'd say there is a possibility. I don't remember where but I'm fairly sure they once talked about the possibility of games like Survive becoming the third branch of Digimon alongside Story games and World games, but I can't find the exact wording or source now.
This probably sold better than they expected so probably a higher chance than 0
No idea but I hope it happens, or a different story in the same style. I really enjoyed Survive, it'd nice seeing how they improve upon it
What is it with monster tamer games being horrible dogshit? Maybe its a cursed genre
>make a shit game
>it doesn't sell
>tell everyone that no one likes digimon and don't make another game for a decade
>make a shit game
>fans buy it to show they want more games
>make only that type of game for a decade because that is the only type that sold
There is no winning move
>Make a VN
>Hire morons that don't speak english or japanese to do the localisation
What the frick werr they thinking.
This is what baffles me the most, they chose the worst fricking genre to cheap out on localization.
The more text, the more expensive the localization is. So naturally Bandai would cheap out and hire the lowest bidder.
>we gonna save money here boss
Good translators don't take shit jobs
I think because they wanted to release the game world-wide on day one led to the localization being rushed out. I recall that people have issues with Cybersleuth's localization as well so Bamco probably doesn't want to pay for decent Digimon localizations.
>Ai raiku money harr harr!
Honestly might just be me, but I'd like another game similar to Digimon World 3 but better. Give me a starter digimon/pack of them, but allow me to actually get others as well if I want so I am not just stuck with the same 1/2/3 of them for all eternity. Give me more of that early 00s MMO feel for the story with a lot more shit you can equip on your digimon too.
Just give me Digimon World 3 but better and with less backtracking and it'd be 10/10 for me.
As much as I love how 3 looks and sounds Ive never been able to play for more than a couple hours
it's still crazy to me that Digimon is still thriving in the East considering how quickly it got ousted by Pokemon in the West.
The third world loves Digimon.
No shade since Im part of the third world.
Because only the west considers that rivalry a thing.
It wasn't entirely Pokemon's fault. Digimon could have had modest success in the west even in spite of Pokemon. The problem is that the franchise's international distribution as a whole was extremely poorly managed. In spite of the exceptional popularity of Digimon Adventure in the west at the time, they failed to capitalize it in any meaningful way.
Are you joking? Survive pretty much was saved by the west. It just happens that not by murricans, but by latins and euros.
>50~60 fricking dollarydoos
>saved by a region where the average wage is about $400/month after tax
as if
>Next Order is fricking dumb
someone doesn't know how to desync lifespans and powertrain his 2nd generation rookie.
there is nobody at bandai who can make a world clone
more like there is nobody at bandai who wants to pay to make a world clone
There never was.World 2 3 and X were not World games.
This game looked neat to me, but someone else I know said its shit as well as just pandering to Americans.
Whats wrong with it?
>pandering to Americans
are you sure you werent in a thread about the new pokemon?
Yeah Survive 1 was much better the troony grooming cult in 2 who turned all the boys into Angewomons was too political for me
>pandering to Americans
What?
>game with a lot of text
>pandering to americans
I'm just saying what I was told. It sounded weird which is why I'm asking, you fricking homosexuals.
you probably got baited by the resident schizo who calls everyone Hispanic, the real criticism the game has is
>its 90% vn 10 % srpg
>the srpg portions suck dick and unbalanced as shit
>chapter 4 and 5 drag the pacing to a halt
>early chapter 6 makes all characters moronic
>wrathful is too kino compared to the rest of the routes
Spoil me the story
Why's there so much Omega hype lately? First Colon and now Survive. Omegamon always appears in everything, that's just inevitable, but usually it doesn't actually do anything or it jobs. It didn't job once in Colon or Survive. This is highly abnormal.
QUESTION about hackers memory (beat the first cyber slueth already)
up to chapter 11 and there have been a couple of huge difficulty spikes at random bosses, like a domination arena where you got put to sleep.
I have ultimates and mega's, most of them with good ABI to even be allowed to evolve. Farm is set up alright, I use type matchups where I can. But there are some randomly really hard spots in the game - is this just expected?
Also it feels like the story is starting to drag on, and there are still 7 or so chapters to go. Do things change up a bit after chapter 10/11?
Yeah, the game throws a couple of cheap tricks at you from time to time. I would suggesting investing in a Hisaryumon now for the near future where you fight Arcadiamon Ultimate.
Evolve your mons as you as you can. The Tokyo Metropolitan Office is a great place to level if you need the exp. Also, keep an eye out for any moves with ''Defence-penetrating'' effects. They make the game a lot easier.
As for the story, I'm afraid there's not much change to the structure. Eirika gets a trippy cutscene moment. The tone of the game also becomes a bit bleaker, with half of Team Hudie being absent for a good few chapters.
>flop
I'm sure they are all selling well for being niche to continue making new games.
>have one mon be "your guy"
>be able to recruit ala cyberbawds/HM
That way you can train your dude who is your bud but also have a few more for bigger fights. Why wouldn't this work?
The one mon that's "your guy" would invariably be an Agumon or whatever the current flavor of the year is.
Be able to change him via Mirari.
Fun.
I don't think it's fun I think it's shit
If I wanted a team of 3 anime waifus and a dinosaur knight I'll play literally any JRPG
I assumed that having a specific Digimon as a consistent "bro" was for the sake of giving them an actual personality and voice. If you hire Sakamoto to voice your partner, you're not gonna really have many possible routes to choose from.
They could always start with a choice of the gen 1 rookies. With the way evolution works you could get pretty varied partners.
Why do you need multiple Digimon period
Isn't that exactly what Survive did?
>change him
Your guy has a voice and a personality. Changing him from what he was designed to be into something else would make those things extremely mismatched.
Digimon world had your guy and he wasn't voiced.
but the field animations, voice grunts, step sounds, attack animations, knockdown animations, etc. added so much SOUL.
MetalGreymon (virus) has blue skin because it's literally rotting away. It implanted metallic parts in its body replace it.
Andromon has a fleshy leg and other meaty remnants.
>MetalGreymon (virus) has blue skin because it's literally rotting away. It implanted metallic parts in its body replace it.
>Andromon has a fleshy leg and other meaty remnants.
And then you have other Metal Empire mon like Metal Etemon, Big Mamemon and Monzaemon. What is your point exactly?
I was just providing examples of the aesthetic mentioned by the other anon. Also forgot to mention Datamon.
I think we have a different definition of your guy. The World 1 partner was definitely not it. The Re:Digitize partner was your guy for like 10 minutes, but then they made him mute.
That what I mean. I think there should be interaction but they don't need a full VA. They are your static mon and your partner.
Giving voice to your partner is a double edge sword. Either it ends giving him more personality, or ends with a personality you don't like thus ruining the whole experience.
The only problem I could see if that the main partner Digimon would inevitably fall behind the generic Digimon, since the partner's evolution should be tied to story beats instead of just levels.
Literally just make persona but the personas are digimon and no one not even the MC can change digimons
Just finished my Gallantmon X antibody deck. What else is everyone running?
Same as you. Also been putting time into Sakuyamon, very satisfying combo deck.
>miko mode turns into maid mode
wew, talk about demotions
shouldn't it make more sense to be called maiden mode?
It's probably that in japanese
I think the TCG localization department is still under the impression they need to remove any overly Japanese terms, so long as it's not completely changing a mons's name, so that overseas audiences won't be confused.
As if players of the game aren't either TCG autists who don't pay attention to card names, or long-time fans who know what these terms are by virtue of being otaku. But that's just how suits operate.
How is Sakuyamon as a deck by the way? I don't play the game but this shit got my dick hard
Even though it does get sodomized by the D-Reaper
You know, this series needs less digimon antagonists and more digital life form antagonists.
I mean, looking at the anime alone the only series that really went into non-digimon enemies was Tamers and Savers.
we got a few, we did get a fair share of it, but more is never a negative
d-reaper,vitrium, the eaters are the ones that come to mind
i guess yggdrasil counts sometimes too
Neo was probably my favorite of the Digital life forms. Shame he didn't last very long.
Don't forget about homostacy, the literalwho notadigimon from DW3, and DW4's mecha rogues.
And that homosexual robot from DW2. I never got what the hell its problem was.
I try to forget 4 as much as possible.
It's a fun game. It only needs a way to be less grindy as getting building skill points takes a long time, and for some moronic reason evos start all over from lv 1 (and also a boatload of QoL fixes)
It's seen some success, but generally isn't counted among the big threats of the formats it's been present for. Still very useable and fun, especially in a more casual setting.
Probably the most viable of the Tamers decks, although recent Beelzemon support has made him take the number 1 spot.
I know nothing of the card game or it's rules, but that looked really fun, I kept wondering what all that stacking was for until the last turn
Just make Persona: Digimon edition. Make player build relationship links with DIGIMON, who will compete with your gf over your love.
Digimon don't compete. They just get it or kill you
you know, would people here who are asking about a game with only the original, actually play it if it actually had only the original 15?
>Original lineup had one clear evolution line from Agumon to Metalgreymon
>The rest is completely fricking discord where nothing looks even sort of like anything else
What was the idea there?
The whole premise of the digimon v-pets was that the little shit could turn into a bunch of different things depending on how you raised it
That's been true for a lot of monsters in digimon for a long time. They'll kinda develop a "main" line and then in some circumstances it's possible to diverge. Usually the split makes sense (agumon to tyrannomon for example), but sometimes it's a bit wonky. I don't mind unless it's something really drastic, but seeing devimon and monzaemon in there, I really have no idea what connection it would have to any of the others. I think those might have been intentional because I believe you need to make a strong digimon but also be an butthole to it to get those evolutions.
I am rather astonished that Digimon would cause a thread on Ganker to grow to 300+ replies. Maybe Digimon isn't dead (or the hate for it isn't anyways).
You missed the several threads that hit bump limit since Survive was released
ALL ANONS INSIDE OF ME NOW
Yes ma'am.
good boys mama plutomon is proud of both of you
Aoi is unironically best character. No one else comes close.
Mommy!
Uooooohhhhh I love Miu
t. Kaito
Thank god I didn't pay for survive. What were they thinking making this like 80% visual novel 20% actual gameplay. The scenes of them as little sprites should've been the game.
I am always skeptical of Digimon releases. Even Cyber Sleuth, despite its general good quality, is a bit half-assed in places. Cyber Sleuth is actually good though.
I'm on the fence about this one. On one hand, I don't mind playing a VN if the story is good, but people here are saying it isn't, and what's left is sparse and tacked on tactical gameplay. Might wait for this one to go on sale.
Yea story is kind of meh. I think it’s due to some of the kids being badly written and annoying.
I haven’t troed cyber sleuths yet. I bought it when it was on sale and forgot about it
I want clones of Digimon World Championship for the DS, the last good Digimon game
how long are repeat playthroughs after you get your first ending?
Long unless you made a separate save right before the routes split.
frick i was kinda feeling that would be the case since you still have to do the bullshit like finding the little morons in the amusement park and all the battles
It takes an hour or three to reach chapter 8 even with skip always on and always going straight for the objective. You'll probably want to find something to do on the side.
>branching path
>pick mostly moral gay choices
>"Save the world" option is not there
What the frick
Now I'm fricking moronic
Miu is going to get away with being a little shit the entire game, wont she?
Depends on the path
Damn female brat needs correction
She really isn't that bad when compared to her brother, the mommy tard, the animal abuser, and the actual moron. She acts her age and appropriately when prompted.
>Kaito
Based.
>mommychad
Based.
>Shuuji
butthole, but him being an butthole was fun.
>Minoru
Yeah, frick that guy.
Man, I want to like Kaito but the game has him being unreasonably angry too much for my liking. Agreed on Shuuji too, at some point he just sort of transitioned into Super Saiyan Michael Vick and it just grew from there. How anyone can seriously dislike him is beyond me.
>I want to like Kaito
It helps if you choose to go with Arukenimon despite knowing it's a trap.
I did it on my first playthrough and honestly thought the game was going to give me a bad ending for being intentionally moronic, but then he just walks in and saves the day despite the fact that you and your group just abandoned him. What a lad.
>Arukenimon
Why would a woman lie?
#metoo
Some people like Lopmon.
Yeah but he is so comically evil he may as well be twirling a mustache. Had there been ANY nuance with his character then I can maybe see it, but as is the writers just went and said let's make him as ineffective and evil as possible.
Doesn't he even say that you should let some kids die in one of the early chapters? I mean, c'mon.
Yeah but hurting Lopmon crosses a line. A mustache-twirling villain is only endearing so long as he's not actually hurting a Lopmon.
I don't know if you guys understand Shuuji's story but he's reinacting his relationship his father has with him. Where no matter what he does he's not good enough and compares his failures to his brother's successes. That's his life.
So when he gets his own "son", of sorts, he does the same thing. But compares his failure of a digimon with the successes of everyone else's digimon.
He only turns to physical aggression at the very end and instantly receives retribution for it.
There wassome nuance but he was still a giant wiener. He's the son of stereotypically shitty Asian parents with extremely high expectations and thought the only way for them to love him was to try to force himself to be better and a leader. Literally every single thing he says to Lopmon is projection. Lopmon Was his partner because he has a much more popular brother too ancd its evolution Andiramon is a servant to the 4 Holy Beasts, not a leader. But he also put the expectations on himself partly because he wanted everyone to survive and could relate to Kaito's issues so he wasn't all bad.
Think Helga from Hey Arnold
Shuu is giant pussy at the beggining and keeps trying to act the leader, you can cleary tell he is venting the frick out of his frustrations on Lopmon.
She does also her early brat phase is better when you realize they ere going for a Mimi in Gekomon castle thing and learn more about her.
>nearing 99 of all the healing items
Is there even a point to them in this game? I haven't needed to use anything once, not even the equipment.
They really need to pay more to hire a good environment artist.
Next order and cyber bawd have the worst environment design I ever saw.
They are repetitive, boring, empty and looks like shit.
They also need to spare more budget to design a good UI.
The UI is a complete cluster frick that overwhelm the screen.
Fix these and they can attract more people.
They were PSVita games.
Is that an excuse?
It's the vita.
Like
said.
That's not an excuse.
At the very least, they can not make ugly as sin UI.
How about that?
it's only now that I realize survive is a new game and not cyber sleuth
Why would you think it's CS?
Aoi is made for
choking
Does a bear shit on the woods Ganker?
Attarimae.
Piedmon?
