Y'know, when you mix them up like that, the designs do still mix fairly well. Maybe people whining about nu-pokemon are just autistic.

I'm probably schizo posting but I really like Gen 5. it feels like they kind of compliment eachother? I still don't like Inteleons Yaoi hands but I can kind of see them working as a contrast to the very animal features of Serperior and Typhlosion. IMO they look better together than they do with their original genmates.

Its probably because they deliberately put some kind of samey designs together. I imagine Meowscarada or Empoleon would look really weird next to Meganium. I still overall agree though, its shocking how well they mix. The only really out of place looking one is Zard. He looks really naked next to Torterra and Feraligatr.

Primarina and Rillaboom look good together as Movies Starters: King Kong (30s) and Splash (80s)

They would have been a better option for Unova, just change Emboar for Skeledirge representing "It" (2010's)

i'd be impressed at how shit the gen 9 starters were.
i don't need to tell you that literally any change you hypothetically make to reality affects everything.

    >Would all be incredibly popular
    >Popularity of starters in general as an idea would drop off a cliff, most people would not want to use one and box them
    >Starters somewhat regain their good name, but not the same heights as gen 1
    >Recieved very well, most liked since g1
    >Recieved about as well as g3, nothing crazy but great overall
    >Very popular, below g1 and g4, close 3rd place
    >Popularity of starters once again drops off a cliff. All of them are boxed and shit talked
    >Better than g7 but still recieved poorly. Not very popular
    >Everyone starts viewing pokemon as a furry fetish franchise

    >Gen 1
Torterra is way too good against gen 1's gym leaders. Might help his popularity against the other two though.
    >Gen 2
Yeah no Blaziken fricking snaps Johto over his knee and laughs all the way to Red. The other two also get completely mogged in popularity so this gen is a bust.
    >Gen 3
Surprisingly good lineup. Delphox and venu feel like really good fits for Hoenn, and all three have unique play styles.
    >Gen 4
I feel like gen 4 is still too early for a ghost type starter, but overall I just feel bad for Blastoise here.
    >Gen 5
    Oh God what the frick?
    >Gen 6
Sceptile and Greninja would have an autistic rivalry, either forced or just autistic fans. Skeledirge also fits Kalos well.
    >Gen 7
Honestly not too far from reality. Two music starters in one gen is kinda weird though.
    >Gen 8
The all bara line up is nice, Incineroar gets kinda shit on but he has it coming honestly, being the best Pokemon ever made and all that.
    >Gen 9
Honestly the single worst group of starters imaginable. Good work anon.

Gen 1 would still be the most popular and loved starter trio

Gen 2 would still have no one picking Chikorita, and Samurott would have a bigger fanbase cause of nostalgia. 90% of players would still pick Torchic.

People would hate Delphox and Braixen even more than they did in 2013 if they were around in 2003. That sort of overtly furry design wasn't part of the series at that point. People would still like Bulbasaur but Mudkip would be the most popular by far. People will look back at it as a good trio later on.

Gen 4 would be the most successful trio since Gen 1 with that solid lineup. Similarly to the actual 4th Gen, all three starters would be almost equally popular and none of them would be hated. Blastoise would likely be just like Torterra and be slightly less popular, but still more so than most of the previous starters.

Gen 5 would be super divisive. Typhlosions design is incredibly basic which worked in 2000, but wouldn't in 2010 while trying to succeed the likes of infernape and Blaziken. Inteleon would be hated just as normal, and Serperior would likely be the one almost everyone picks. It would he the most hated Gen until 9.

Gen 6 would bring the fans back with a great trio, although Skeledirge would still get the same valid complaints as he gets now, but less of the obsessive hatred some of you on this board have for him. It's hard to say if Greninja or Sceptile would be the most popular/Shillmon when they're going up against each other, but it'd probably be Greninja again just like normal. Kalosperm would actually have an actual reason for liking it.

Gen 7 would probably fall on the lower end overall in starter popularity, but not be full on hated. Emboar would probably be liked more without being the 3rd Fire/Fighting in a row, Rillaboom has a solid design that's inoffensive. While most of this board would hate Primarina the same as they always have, without Decidueye and Incineroar there to steal all spotlight, she'd have way more of a fanbase.

Gen 8 would change nothing for Chesnaught, as Quilladin's reveal will destroy his career no matter what. Incineroar would probably be better received in this universe because most Pokémon fans would be either into Bara or just expect Fire starters to be humanoid at that point. Empoleon would probably be the most popular, and Piplup would be the mascot of Gen 8.

Gen 9 would be hated even more here than it was when they were all revealed, cause at least with Skeledirge there's one quadruped monster starter. Switching him with Cinderace would be making the problem even more evident. General audience would be fine with it probably, although Quaquaval would be even less popular. Though considering how much is different with the franchise with this order, maybe everyone here would love them, who knows?

    >Gen 1
Charizard is still the most popular Kanto starter because it's easier to draw, Torterra and Gatr are recognized by GF.
    >Gen 2
Blaziken easily wins here, but now Game Freak hates it because it can reach Charizard's popularity.
    >Gen 3
Braixen/Delphox is Gardevoir's rival and the most popular starter. People complain that Venusaur is too similar to Torterra.
    >Gen 4
Rowlet is still the most popular starter, but Decidueye is not as popular because now it has decent competition. Lucario is not as popular as it used to be, since Braixen and Delphox were created first.
    >Gen 5
People complain about a monotyped trio, Typhlosion is not that popular because it's a gen 5 starter now. Inteleon still gets carried by fujos, also the shitty Inteleon x Cinderace pairing is gone.
    >Gen 6
Sceptile vs. Greninja starter wars are common, but Greninja still wins and Sceptilegays get angry because of all the Greninja shilling.
    >Gen 7
Easy win for Primarina, despite the controversies.
    >Gen 8
Waifugays try to find a reason to make Empoleon a waifu. Incineroar gets a Protean clone for no reason other than being Game Freak's favorite.
    >Gen 9
Meowscarada x Cinderace starter wars (and pairing) are common. Quaquaval is easily the most unpopular one. Florian won just like Brendan.
