Retards, picking an arbitrary date doesn't make a generation. It's about state of mind and culture. People close to 30 are far more likely to share millennial culture then be a zoomie
"Generations" are arguably the biggest societal lie ever spun, and it's very interesting that many people today will be quick to decry a lot of very concrete and founding principles of our society as "made up", but 99% of people will continue to believe in nonsense such as this with a strange, undying loyalty. There is absolutely no tangible logic that defines the beginning of a so-called "generation" and its end. It is quite literally made up.
it is just an easy way for old people to bitch about young people without directly calling it that.
old people bitching about young people these days has been a thing for as long as old people have existed, there are records from ancient rome about literally complaining about the younger generation.
The names don't matter to me. I'll consider myself a zoomer until 30, then a boomer forever more. 97' chad btw.
I was born in 1997, while I do remember everything posted in these threads, I was 10 years old when the first I-Phone was released. I'd say half of the people I grew up with have wholeheartedly adopted zoomer shit.
well I'm '95 so I'm better than you kids, also I just decided that the cutoff is '96

Why did you have to bring those up.
We still used those during primary school, calculators were to spce ge for little shita.

People born in 1994-1999 or so are either out of touch boomers who relate more with 2000s-early 2010s culture or TikTok zoomers who hate everything before iPhones became mainstream. No middle ground.

zillennials have feet in both camps. Culturally it depends on how much tv they were exposed to growing up. Millennials are tv drones and zoomers internet slop enjoyers
>zillennials
Can't we just be young millennials? I don't think I have much in common with zoomers.

Zoomers are based because they didn't have a chance anyway and thus chose to fuck up way beyond expectations
Millenials are cringe because they had everything to be happy and live fulfilling life but turned their entire generation into a wasteland of narcissism, entitlement and self-righteousness

This is the exact same thing a lot of millennials say about gen x-ers, and the same thing they said about their parents

Nta. I'm zillenial But I've never identified with lennial culture. I've never touched gen 2 pokemon and I strongly dislike invader zim. I saw the rage memes and YOLO but they didnt click with me.
There is no official accepted generational timeframe for any generation. You may find a consensus but you will never find a factual objective answer because it's all made up shit anyway
Zoomers are about to hit their 30s in 2-3 years btw
Do you go to tiktok/reddit/nu-social media?
If so you're a zoomer.
If not, did you go on IRC/BBS forums as a kid, or at least knew them?
If so you're a boomer/millennial
If not you're an early millennial.
a BUNCH of people, they were the primordial redditors on the site made by the guy who would go on to make reddit and were equally obnoxious cunts.
They just weren't ebaumsworld fucking obnoxious
I remember using it once and thinking “why wouldn’t I just use an RSS feed”
And then when I first caught wind of Reddit I was like “wtf this is just Digg again”
I have no idea. During Ganker's golden age I never heard anyone talk about digg or reddit ever. I didn't even know they existed til 2010 or 2011. Seeing people compare Ganker to these sites still feels like comparing apples and oranges to me. Ganker was just where all the cool kids on old 90s-early 00s message boards went to be cool.

if we just all agree to this the oldest Zoomers would be about 26, 27 at most its honestly tragic how stupid Ganker is, honestly convinced that chart sub-dividing the generations into Early,Core, and Late is a better way to explain it

that's stupid. Zoomers grew up in the 2000s. They very likely played the Wii at least once even if they never had one.
That's why I think people should just ditch the term zoomer altogether because it just means "kid" at this point. People also say zoomers never watched Gumball.

Boomer is that, yes. But millennial used to be the overly broadly applied "young person" term until it no longer worked. The same will happen to zoomers. Boomer will likely also stop being used when they're all dead.
Good, imagine the 30+ threads that's been nothing but pure seethe and bullshit >BRO REMEMBER MARIO? I DO! FUCK ZOOMERS BRO >repeat for the last 6 years
good luck convincing yourself that COD4 isnt over 15 fucking years ago
I'm 26 and right on the cusp of millennial & zoomer. I'm technically the oldest a "zoomer" can be, but I spent most of my youth around adults and kids 4-5 years older than me because of my siblings & the fact that I wasn't the annoying younger brother.
You're retarded. The majority of zoomers won't be 30 for another 8-10 years.
>gays here seem to think Zoomers are 15
People IN GENERAL are fucking dumb. About a decade back millennials was the goto insult ironically used by literal millennials. No one knows their own generation and basically be insulting themselves most of the time. I'm sure the next gen will have their own group of retards insulting themselves as well. History tends to repeat itself. People need to learn they can't blame a whole generation when they themselves are the ones being fucking retarded.
Nope, I know what I am. Being dumb isn't an age thing. In fact a lot of people on here are lucky the lack of intelligence isn't a direct correlation to age or a ton of fuckers on Ganker would be banned under the assumption of being underaged.
Read again dumbass I was agreeing with you. Though if you going to be a piece of shit I might take back what I said and just call you a fucking dumbass.
there was that weird middle ground a few years ago here where millennial kind of died as an insult but zoomer hadn't been invented yet to replace it
and because of that there was less generational shitposting, wish I could bring that back
>Playing pokemon on my oldman's pc (Windows 98)
Your father showed you the wonders of emulation?
Mine installed one for ps1, so we could rent physical games and just install them on the pc.
Yes, we were poor at the time, so he found ways to entertain us long enough. He loved to download music and burn it on CDs, still have his old portable cd players
Years after saving, we managed to buy the Play 2, while the playstation 3/wii/xbox 360 was the latest in video games
We're probably close, but my father was an IT admin so we had a few machines at home that go back. We had an acorn, a tandy and I think the oldest thing I actually touched (I had to get him to help me load games) was probably the tandy but it might have been the Atari. Can't tell you models I was like 3.
First machine I """owned""" id es had in my room was a Commodore.
So fancy. 3.1 was out when I had my first computer, but it was made from hand me down parts that my Dad’s work were done with and they let him bring home. So my first pc was a monochrome dos machine that I’d play the original Space Quest and Mickey’s 123s on. My first GUI OS was 95.

Every school computer playing these, from the dedicated lab to the school library.
Having a yahoo or Aol email address. Making Geocities websites in raw html.
Playing CS1.3 or 1.4 beta in the computer labs when we were supposed to be doing something else.
Fuck I'm old. How did that happen?
Ironically didn't save the screen at all. Actually made things worse. Did you guys have that educational maths game that was like a Planet of the Apes rip off??
>Ironically didn't save the screen at all. Actually made things worse.
That does not surprise me at all. >Did you guys have that educational maths game that was like a Planet of the Apes rip off?
If we did, I don't remember it. It was more than 20 years ago now.
I do remember playing Simcity and Simcity2000 for geography class and Age of Empires for History class though.
And that really shitty Where in the World is Carman Sandiego game.
And the fact that one of my friends worked out which of the computers the IT guy was cloning onto all the others, so he hid a bunch of games like Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake, Descent, and whatever the Jedi one was at the time on it. They could never work out how the games kept reappearing on everything after they reset all the machines.
Fun times, and not something my own kids will ever experience, which is the real tragedy.

Holy fucking based. We never got anything like that. Then again I did go to school in Ireland, we were still using Windows 98 machines up to about 2006.
Every day I ask the same question. I blink and I aged a year. I tried 'slowing it down' by learning new things, challenging myself, etc but nothing helps.
I remember playing the Finding Nemo game which I sucked at and this weird TONKA construction game where I spent all my time destroying everything and never learning how to build.
>weird TONKA construction game
Oh hey, I played that one on Windows 98. I’d play that, Lego Island, Pajama Sam and a couple Magic Schoolbus games. I Spy: Spooky Mansion, too.
It's somewhere on my PC but I don't feel like looking for it. It was a picture of Dib from Invader Zim. But like a close up that happens during the shows opening theme

Do you prefer to have all females ask for your bank account credentials to know if you're up to par with them?
Or asking for 100$ because you got your car broken into and couldn't go to the date?
Or just get a fellow gentleman and just enjoy not caring about meaningless shit, with a peaceful and innocent romance?

There's no such thing as bisexuality. All men are attracted to women and all women to men. You're only settling for cock instead of pussy because you don't want to be lonely and you're not capable of keeping a good woman happy.

That's objectively false, only women have a deep down desire for men, but men can be perfectly gay and bisexual, you just cannot accept that there's people that are different than you.
I'm not settling for a dude because I can't get a womb owner, I just never been interested in egg producers to begin with despite being able to be sexually attracted to them, plus, you just don't know how much better men are compared to women, there's not even a comparison.

Maybe so. Yet you're attracted to women also, how can you know that the other men out there fucking men aren't also. They mightn't even know themsevles past a point. The mind of a man can be warped and perversed, like any animal a person can be molded. The difference with us is that we can also shape ourselves, through logic and will. I think anybody who says "I could never be attracted to ____" is either full of shit or a retard. Also >only women have a deep down desire for men
Is it a touch ironic for you to say that? A bit... hypocritical after your claims?
Ignore this bozo
Gay shit is mental illness. And it should be corrected when found.
Be as much of a gay as you like, I certainly believe that some aspects of attraction or "tastes" can be altered, but I don't have the power, nor inclination to make such changes.

How long can I postpone this before Bill Gates kicks down my door and installs it in my bussy
Don't actually do this, this is the modern version of "delet system32"
You'll have no drivers and games will not work if they check your Windows version
I have this installed on my current Win10 machine, surprised it still works tbh. I don't have the patience for it anymore, but it's nice to play from time to time.
a mistake mostly, i started with Windows 95 personally though my more fond memories were on the Windows 98 machine that replaced it, couldn't run shit on that '95 machine.
getting old sucks i just realized i've been on this website sixteen years.
what the hell even happened with ME, I know it was a thing and remember people talking about it being shit, but just never actually used it, just went 95>98>XP
For me it just reminded me of a slightly better 95.
I say better because my family computers never got 98. We only had ancient toasters and by the time we got around to getting a 'new' computer it was IBM selling ME prebuilts on clearance. Us, being unaware that they were discounted because they were ME machines, bought one and I used it for most of the 00's. It was the first computer I browsed Ganker with.
My old ME machine, if I can ever bring it back from the dead, still has my old pictures folder filled with all of my ancient EFG and pools closed memes that I want to try getting back.
Now now, most of the people using Windows 3.1 and DOS weren't old, their family just had shit PCs into the late 90's. It was a rarity to upgrade a PC every time a jump in computer happened because they all cost ~3000 bucks each in 90's money.
This thread brought back a memlry and seems a good enough place to ask.
I need your help finding an old DOS game I used to play >"mouse and peas" is what I remember the title being, but never found anything under that name >overhead 2d puzzle game where you as a mouse have to set off a mousetrap which contains cheese >extremely simple kids game >gameplay is rotating spoons which are used as catapults to launch peas into the mousetrap
At this point I have to assume it was a game my dad made and was too embarrassed to tell us he made it
Fuuuuck, played that with my dad all the time. IIRC you could even hit the sun and break it apart.
What was your profile picture on your family pc? Mine was the goldfish
Chess piece was always looking super comfy, idk why, might be the colors. But generally I'd rotate between that, the rocket, the plane, the palm and so on.
It's a good idea to make sure the programs you use are either compatible or have an alternative you can use. Other than that video games are generally in a good spot besides some multiplayer games that use anti-cheat. These might give you an idea:

Your test is inadequate, I used XP from when my family first got a PC in 2003 until a couple years ago when google stopped updating chrome for XP, but this in no way makes me an OG PC gamer nor does being familiar with XP prove that I'm an OG gamer in general
Back when I was first allowed to have my own profile on the family pc, I instantly released my power level and set this as my wallpeper, along with a spinning x-wing for mouse pointer.
kek, I could never get into it. I only really used the computer when I had friends over, we played territory war and boxhead a lot in those days. Had a PS2 at the time but didn't get a PC until the PS3 had left my wholly underwhelmed, except for Warhawk and Littlebigplanet.
for me it was BSPlayer, I remember how blown away I was by the fact you could load subtitles. I imagined it was going to make television obsolete now, since it had no advantage anymore.
christ. most of my favorite childhood PC games were made during the days of DOS, win 3.1, and win95. Apogee shareware games were my bread and butter, and then stuff like DOOM 1 and 2, and warcraft 1 and 2.
I also played on those "101 best games" type of freeware old games. This pic might be from one of those games i've never been able to find. What's it called?
I also played on those "101 best games" type of freeware old games. This pic might be from one of those games i've never been able to find. What's it called?
The first pc I ever used was one of those colorful macintosh ones. then years later we got a computer in the house with either windows 98 or 2000. I think it was the latter
Zoomer as used on Ganker is just a term used to immediately shut down people for liking anything made after 2000 because muh old thing worship. It is ironically used most by the people whom the term describes, often because they're desperately trying to look older.
Played mine in a fucking pack that came in a cereal box (maybe)?
There was a bunch of games on it, like a Space Brick breaker or whatever. I think the company who made those distributed them, I can't recall the name.
My favorite Incredible Machine was Even More Contraptions which was the version that came on this CD.
Yep. I used to have all three from 2005 (board games, puzzle games, casino games). I still can't beat Harley in chess lmao
They still sell them. I think I got a 2018 or 2019 version around somewhere.
If you didn't have to sit through swapping a dozen floppies and set IRQ on your soundcard you're not oldschool.
Wait, let's correct that. If you didn't have to pry the plastic cases off your cartridges because your family's 800XL had a defect with the cartridge port and they wouldn't seat properly otherwise, and subsequently memorized which game was which due to the pattern of chips on the cart, then you aren't old school.
i miss this era. now everything is completely devoid of soul. like at some point the mask came off and corporations went full soulless because they know we know they're pure evil and won't lift a finger to stop them.
YEAH I MISS IT I REMWMBER PLAYING GAMES LIKE GAIA, NEOPETS, FURCADIA, DUNGEON SIEGE, DIABLO II, RUNESCAPE, ACTIVE WORLDS AND LOOKING AT THE PORN MY DAD LEFT IN THE TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES (THANKS CLEANMGR)
i fucking remember. packard bell with win95 was our first home pc, thought that navigator was so fucking futuristic. played so much fucking doom, duke3d, nesticle, learned how to use photoshop, trading floppy disks with titty pics at school.
I did this too, until I got caught >gave friend floppy disk with pictures of tits I found on some website >he gets caught with it by his parents and immediately rats me out >no longer allowed on the computer
I still think of those dark gray towers whenever I think of Dell today, they’re like completely inseparable from the brand in my eyes thanks to how many I’ve seen in other people’s homes, in libraries and in schools
Mid to late 2000s.
While there were blunders like Vista and social media had just begun to dig its fingers into the web, at the time it felt like things had been evolving for the better and were going to continue to do so. The web had reached a good level of sophistication without things being too consolidated or corporatized. Forums were still thriving, the web was still an expansive landscape instead of 5 or 6 megasites, and no two websites looked the same. Tech company fuckups were still along the vein of mistakes and oversights that they planned to fix instead of being nothing but active hatred and malice towards users that'll only get worse. It was the last time where I felt optimistic about technology and the future, and the last time where the internet was something seperable from the real world.
95-05, basically Windows 95 to pre YouTube/Vista. Computers just felt so fucking cool but were also easy enough for a kid to learn and play on it, tons of games and multimedia, piracy. It was great.
The early always-on internet/xp-7 era was the peak, it's crazy how far we're fallen from those times. DOS/Win9X was very soulful but too limited.
t. 35 year old boomer
My first memory of having my own computer at home, and not being forced to use the apple macintosh computers at school, was getting either a 95 or XP that had Little Big Adventure 2 pre-installed. It also had some absurdly cool 3D wallpaper images, like one that was a blue tile room with white pillars and a pool in the middle. My first computer experience ever was using macintosh computers in elementary school during the early 1990s, printing out some shit on a printer that had connected and folded paper with the margins having tons of holes. I can't remember the name of the game, but they all had some storybook maker game. I wish I could remember its name, because it's been living rent free in my head for almost 30 years. I remember so little that it's a pain to search for.
Oh my fuck I found it. I finally found the game that's been stuck in the back of my head for all these years. It was called Storybook Weaver. >Came out in 1992 >I was playing this in a kindergarten classroom about 28 years ago, sitting next to a window at a cheap wooden desk against a yellow plaster wall
I'm genuinely feeling distressed right now.
XP was a mistake. It was when Microsoft started designing Windows for mouthbreathers instead of businessmen.
You didn't experience peak Windows if you never used 2k.
I remember making my desktop wallpaper be a shitty hentai image whenever I was on the computer, and I put it back to being the default blue background when I got off or was told to get off. Even had this one animated gif of a catgirl with tiger print clothes getting railed from behind. Always kind of wanted to find that image again for nostalgia's sake. That and this one with a naked blonde dickgirl who had her cock in a hotdog bun among a tray of actual hotdogs in buns.
Man, why do I even remember these images? It's been over 20 years.
I got detention for tricking kids into thinking I was a wizard who could "hack" their computer with a spell but I was just triggering the degausser with a crappy lab magnet. I found out by accident whatever fucking model (probably RemoteLabs) of CRT we had could be tripped to degauss with another magnet. Wave that shit around the side and it'd go off.

>Not the dumbest reason I got in trouble (which involves getting digimon banned from school because the teachers thought we were circle jerking in a field) but its up there.
Lol, thank you for sharing this
It was the little plastic stick thing, the battery saver. You waggled it in and out of your little digimon toy and you could get the good shit.
So you had eight or nine kids in a circle at the end of the field rapidly jerking their hands around their waist and yelling. Had to take sexual education classes after.
>Not the dumbest reason I got in trouble (which involves getting digimon banned from school because the teachers thought we were circle jerking in a field) but its up there.

The only way to use the catalog on Ganker these days is to use a judicious amount of filters. Yeah, some newfag will call you a member of whatever website his friends have told him to hate this week for daring to filter all the trash his kind produces, but fuck him.
It's terrible. I never use to use filters, but recently the amount of shit on this website has reached critical mass. If I go on /a/ it's something like 4 threads. /a/ is probably the most heavily moderated board on this website. If I go on /gif/ or 4chan it's always 14+ threads hidden, and even then there's always at least one or two people evading the filter in some way.
It's almost impossible to use filters on Ganker because almost no one puts any distinct terms in their posts. You could try to filter out a game by putting the title in, but someone will just create a thread with a thumbnail followed by their garbage shitpost.
>We assure you teacher, computers are the future and our school needs to get one asap. >Okay I have convinced the principal that we need to buy a computer for the school >Proceed to play pirated Konami games for 3 years.

If you remember the world before 9/11 you're a millennial. If you remember the world before covid you're a zoomer. If you became conscious human in our current hellscape you're an alpha. Simple as.
It was self prewservation instinct
It is much stronger when you are a kid
You knew you had the technological antechrist right in front of you but your young mind couldn't put it into words
I had to get dad to open doors in Doom because the sound was the scariest thing. Demons? No problem, EEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUSHSHH fuck me I'm dying.
Kind of hilarious now considering that sound effect ended up in a ton of foley work for other games/film/tv I'd be fucked if it stuck.
>mfw used to crash the family computer drawing impossible fractals on Encarta
Now you WISH you had bought me videogames instead of "educational programs" right???
Lego Island 2 blew my damn mind after growing up with this in early childhood. They made Pepper so radical dood
Another classic was the Rock Raiders RTS, a game that just didn’t have to be that good but was anyways
I very much DISTINCTLY remember a few games I played on an ancient computer that I've never been able to find. It is entirely possible they may have been local to a specific country and no one put them on the internet, but still ... every other game I've been able to find.
Game nr 1 was a Dexter's Lab in extremely shitty graphics, possibly similar to Alley Cat or dangerous Dave. Was an adventure game where you solved puzzles but moved like a Powerpoint presentation.
Game nr 2 was a top down shooter where everything (units, objects, etc) were on blocks. Gameplay was so archaic that if you shot someone, and they died from that, first the shooting animation would play, and then a scream and a lot of gore.
Game nr 3 was an ... economic tycoon simulator? Had cartoony graphics, like for example oil pumps bulging with every load of oil extracted, and buildings were rubbery. There was a government vs opposition element, if you did right, your flag would be fully errect and the other one was bowing.
The only crystal detail I remember is that it had campaigns, one of which was about the oil crysis.
Can anyone help, pretty please? Thank you in advance.
Grandparents had a PC at their house that was always covered up when I was kid growing up. I seriously wonder if they ever used it once. Keep in mind, they used a dishwasher for storing food in it.
Zoomers are about to hit their 30s in 2-3 years btw
Time waits for no one
Retard, the oldest zoomies are in their early 20s
False, oldest zoomers were born 97 and will hit 30 in 4 years.
>There is absolutely no tangible logic that defines the beginning of a so-called
Age of computer use
Age of internet saturation into life
I share things with both I was born in 97
well I'm '95 so I'm better than you kids, also I just decided that the cutoff is '96
The cutoff is actually ENIAC. If you didn't use punch cards you're a newfag.
If a guy fucking posts about the fake turk he's an old fart though fuck him, and ignore senile abacus posters
>abacus
Why did you have to bring those up.
We still used those during primary school, calculators were to spce ge for little shita.
absolutely cope
The names don't matter to me. I'll consider myself a zoomer until 30, then a boomer forever more. 97' chad btw.
I was born in 1997, while I do remember everything posted in these threads, I was 10 years old when the first I-Phone was released. I'd say half of the people I grew up with have wholeheartedly adopted zoomer shit.
People born in 1994-1999 or so are either out of touch boomers who relate more with 2000s-early 2010s culture or TikTok zoomers who hate everything before iPhones became mainstream. No middle ground.
>out of touch boomers who relate more with 2000s-early 2010s culture
me
I am completely detached and lonely. I only feel solidarity with men who share my fetishes. Through dick, unity.
I'm entirely the former, not the other anon but born in 97' also. Something about video in portrait mode makes my bloodboil. I can't be doing with any apps either, text or call me if you want to talk, I only check messenger a couple of times a week. I've got a Galaxy Folder 2 (Not the Galaxy Fold).
zillennials have feet in both camps. Culturally it depends on how much tv they were exposed to growing up. Millennials are tv drones and zoomers internet slop enjoyers
>zillennials
basically zoomers in denial
I’m afraid if you truly feel you “don’t have a chance,” that’s on you. Try growing up during the Dust Bowl or either of the World Wars
I'm not him
I was born in 1990
millennials were the first generation to experience "you need 10 years of experience for this entry level job". you are right about zoomers though, they were born into the apocalypse.
It’s a word people use specifically to bother younger millennials, and I can’t be convinced otherwise
I thought it was just other young millennials clinging to their youth
Yeesh I hope not, that’s sad
I was born in 95 and can’t imagine someone my age self-describing as a zillennial. We were getting called millennials thoughout the 2010s; that would be weird
Nta. I'm zillenial But I've never identified with lennial culture. I've never touched gen 2 pokemon and I strongly dislike invader zim. I saw the rage memes and YOLO but they didnt click with me.
>oldest zoomers were born 95
ftfy
no
gen z officially starts at 1996
tick tock
There is no official accepted generational timeframe for any generation. You may find a consensus but you will never find a factual objective answer because it's all made up shit anyway
Gen Z official start-off is around 1995-1996.
97-2000*
keep coping. I bet you're gonna change the term to "anyone that doesnt remember 9/11 is a zoomer" as the years go by you aging old fuck
can you put it in other words i'm not sure what you're trying to say
*folds paper in half*
*pierces with pencil*
okay ill try another way to dechiper that. what is your birth year?
96 here, I can ostensibly understand extending zoomer status to me but not 95
gen z starts at 1990
you wish, cuck
Do you go to tiktok/reddit/nu-social media?
If so you're a zoomer.
If not, did you go on IRC/BBS forums as a kid, or at least knew them?
If so you're a boomer/millennial
If not you're an early millennial.
>Did you go on digg?
>if so, you're a gay
kek who the fuck even used digg
proto redditors
a BUNCH of people, they were the primordial redditors on the site made by the guy who would go on to make reddit and were equally obnoxious cunts.
They just weren't ebaumsworld fucking obnoxious
>all these posters growing up with 30 year old PCs.
>meaning a lot of posters here are nearing their 40s
That explains why shit has been getting worse here, you old farts are too easy to bait.
I remember using it once and thinking “why wouldn’t I just use an RSS feed”
And then when I first caught wind of Reddit I was like “wtf this is just Digg again”
The same millennials who used Reddit.
Reddit is THE definitive millennial site. Wear it with pride, it's quite representative of (You)r generation.
Give it a rest buddy, you’re on of the websites that the millennials who didn’t use Reddit would use
Reddit was always the feds, ghislaine maxwell was involved in early reddit
My mother is 55 and sends me tic tacs, so does a drinking buddy in his late 40s.
I'm 28 and I'm a zoomer
the zoomer meme started in 2018, zoomers back then were 15-21, the oldest zoomers are now around 26
If that's the case then the Gamecube is a zoomer console, but it's called millennial here.
Zoomer started before 2017, that Stranger Things episode cemented it
lets clear up definitions
>Silent
1939-1945
>Boomers
1945-1965
>Gen X
1965-1980
>Milennials
1980-1995
>Zoomers
1995-2010
>Alpha
2010-2022
>Beta
2022-Present
if we just all agree to this the oldest Zoomers would be about 26, 27 at most its honestly tragic how stupid Ganker is, honestly convinced that chart sub-dividing the generations into Early,Core, and Late is a better way to explain it
Millenials should be people who graduated highschool 2000 or later, meaning 1982.
1976 to 1981 is Gen Y/Oregon Trail generation.
It's not though
>alpha and beta
Who the fuck uses this? Zoomers are 1995-covid. Doomers are covid-present.
zoomer is just a general way of saying 'young person' just like 'boomer' was used as a general way of saying 'old person'
No it isn't. Its a slag reference to generations, retard.
Baby boomers = boomers
Gen Z = zoomers
Obviously retard but it became a catch all term years ago
it didn't, you're just illiterate
No he's right. People here now say zoomers never played the Wii.
he's only right if you're also a retard that learns words by association instead of looking up what it means
blow a dick
Zoomers played the GameCube and the oldest ones have experienced the late n64 era, the fucking Nico Cosplay slut on TikTok is not Core Zoomer.
Yes I'm aware that the oldest technical "zoomers" experienced that stuff but people here still say zoomers never played the Wii, which I think is a fair indication that the word doesn't actually mean what the dictionary says it means.
>experienced that stuff but people here still say zoomers never played the Wii
yes im well aware, I grew up with the Wii, second console I owned after the Gamecube, Zoomers can remember Smash Brawl its honestly tragic how Gankertards lump people in theirs 20s and people in their teens together as if they are a homogenous group
That's why I think people should just ditch the term zoomer altogether because it just means "kid" at this point. People also say zoomers never watched Gumball.
Gumball is still airing though??
>people here still say zoomers never played the Wii
that's stupid. Zoomers grew up in the 2000s. They very likely played the Wii at least once even if they never had one.
Retard
Holy fuck you're new.
Boomer is that, yes. But millennial used to be the overly broadly applied "young person" term until it no longer worked. The same will happen to zoomers. Boomer will likely also stop being used when they're all dead.
Zoomers will always be underaged brats.
fuck
Good, imagine the 30+ threads that's been nothing but pure seethe and bullshit
>BRO REMEMBER MARIO? I DO! FUCK ZOOMERS BRO
>repeat for the last 6 years
good luck convincing yourself that COD4 isnt over 15 fucking years ago
I'm 26 and right on the cusp of millennial & zoomer. I'm technically the oldest a "zoomer" can be, but I spent most of my youth around adults and kids 4-5 years older than me because of my siblings & the fact that I wasn't the annoying younger brother.
You're retarded. The majority of zoomers won't be 30 for another 8-10 years.
>all these seething "30 year olds" that think they're in their 60s
you got exactly what you deserve
yes i do remember this fuckin gay
this im 25, gays here seem to think Zoomers are 15.
>gays here seem to think Zoomers are 15
People IN GENERAL are fucking dumb. About a decade back millennials was the goto insult ironically used by literal millennials. No one knows their own generation and basically be insulting themselves most of the time. I'm sure the next gen will have their own group of retards insulting themselves as well. History tends to repeat itself. People need to learn they can't blame a whole generation when they themselves are the ones being fucking retarded.
let me guess anon you think you are a """zillennial"""
Nope, I know what I am. Being dumb isn't an age thing. In fact a lot of people on here are lucky the lack of intelligence isn't a direct correlation to age or a ton of fuckers on Ganker would be banned under the assumption of being underaged.
>NO YOURE WRONG! IM RIGHT!
great contribution bro
Read again dumbass I was agreeing with you. Though if you going to be a piece of shit I might take back what I said and just call you a fucking dumbass.
there was that weird middle ground a few years ago here where millennial kind of died as an insult but zoomer hadn't been invented yet to replace it
and because of that there was less generational shitposting, wish I could bring that back
How are millennials surprised by this? Gen Alpha are already in their teens
most of the world doesn't give a fuck about the retarded names you decided to call each generation
the only people that give a shit about it are people like you because you've been spamming zoomer/boomer for the past 7 years
i dont even know what the fuck zoomer or boomer means other than "people of X age" and i dont know what the fuck is their age range
zoomer means person younger than you
boomer means person older than you
you now understand how to use modern Ganker
i'll forget it, its a stupid term like anything that comes out of twitter or reddit
The oldest zoomers are a little younger than that. They’re like 25 tops.
christ how the fuck are zoomers turning 30 before me? I must be built different
Playing pokemon on my oldman's pc (Windows 98), were my first memories with a computer
thanks for reminding me that I'm over 25, yes, sure I'm a zoomer, but I'm old enough to recognize it
>Playing pokemon on my oldman's pc (Windows 98)
Your father showed you the wonders of emulation?
Mine installed one for ps1, so we could rent physical games and just install them on the pc.
Yes, we were poor at the time, so he found ways to entertain us long enough. He loved to download music and burn it on CDs, still have his old portable cd players
Years after saving, we managed to buy the Play 2, while the playstation 3/wii/xbox 360 was the latest in video games
>2000 was 30 years ago
Try Win 98.
Fucking kid.
I’m 3.1x generation, I wager some here are even older.
ask me about HIMEM.SYS
I call with EMM386.EXE
LOAD "*",8,1
Never did beat Raid Over Moscow tho.
i remember using 3.1x at some point but not sure if it was on school or a friends house
Heh, the first time i played starcraft our teacher had to use an MSDOS command
>That kid who used 'Net Send' to say 'moron' to 40,000 computers in your school district
Fun times for us, sad times for the clueless network admins of our district who were hired because they could power cycle the computer.
good times
mein neger
AHHHHHHHHHH SAVE ME moronMAN
Fun times, and not something my own kids will ever experience, which is the real tragedy.
>playing Age of Empires for history class
Holy fucking based. We never got anything like that. Then again I did go to school in Ireland, we were still using Windows 98 machines up to about 2006.
I still use my yahoo email.
Every day I ask the same question. I blink and I aged a year. I tried 'slowing it down' by learning new things, challenging myself, etc but nothing helps.
How’s it going?
Hahahahaha
God
DAMN
I was in these threads too so I wonder which park I picked.
1.4 sucked so bad for anyone who liked jumping.
very liminal
Mogged by Hover
Yoooo low key weird how hes just spinning in circles lol no cap
I miss when the screen savers had soul. Win10 ones blow.
For me it was the pipes
I swear there was an actual windows game based on this
I started using PCs with Windows 3.11.
Win 95 zoomer
windows 3.1 over here lel
this place is full of zoomer gays
my first PC gaming experience as a kid was Doom on my uncle's DOS computer
first pc game I played on was an IBM. I think it was bugs bunny.
For me it was 98 and 99 my father finally broke down and got a PC after his job started doing emails
What was your profile picture on your family pc? Mine was the goldfish
idr but I used this wallpaper
Think they're still alive? Think they had kids?
Neat
There used to be a pack of 4K XP wallpapers that Ganker had, but I lost them all, anyone have them?
I thought I was going to get a Windows XP thread and instead people won't shut up about zoomers.
What wallpaper did you use?
https://www.deviantart.com/windowsaesthetics/art/Windows-XP-HD-Wallpaper-Pack-776806652
I used a bionicle picture blown up to fit the monitor
I always used the chess like in the OP
the coconut palms on the beach
The chess one in the OP
Chess pic.
Rocket ship
My bro
my icon was a tiny jpeg of link i found on google
wtf are you me?
Chess piece
The space rocket
Vicky salty milk and coins
How the fuck did your parents let you get away with this?
Chess pieces.
I was the orange flower.
I couldn't be arsed to change it.
I can't remember.
I remember chess, karate girl and the astronaut
I use that fish today.
I think kids should be tested for autism if they choose the chess board
lol
I'm autistic but not because I chose the chess pic. I don't even know how to play it
I remember football, beach chairs, chess pieces, motorcycle, dog, duck, rocket, palm trees, flower, and skater
Holy shit that frog
I remember playing the Finding Nemo game which I sucked at and this weird TONKA construction game where I spent all my time destroying everything and never learning how to build.
I think it was either the dog or the spaceman.
>weird TONKA construction game
Oh hey, I played that one on Windows 98. I’d play that, Lego Island, Pajama Sam and a couple Magic Schoolbus games. I Spy: Spooky Mansion, too.
palm trees, always
mine was the astronaut until i changed it to a ghost doodle i drew, my sister had the peeping cat
I still remember my login was the space shuttle, my mom was the cat, and my dad was the car before inexplicably changing to the chess set.
I picked the skater then I think I replaced it with a Disturbed image.
Chess Piece.
The record
Astronaut. I used the moon wallpaper too.
Mine was a picture of my family at a amusement park
the chad soccer ball and I'd play that space pinball game all the time
The stock water drop and then the HL2 logo
The red flower
RUBBER DUCK
NOW AND FOREVER
the dog
Basic bitch
just like me
It's somewhere on my PC but I don't feel like looking for it. It was a picture of Dib from Invader Zim. But like a close up that happens during the shows opening theme
I miss the days when Stacker wasn't rendered obsolete.
That's a lie. I don't. I just wanted to namedrop stacker.
I think this was just a placebo effect.
yeah but watching the GUI go was really satisfying for some reason, like taking a massive shit
it wasnt but it was rare a disk was actually fragmented to the point people would notice. Fragmenting required the disk to be almost full, space only free in random places, and writes performed to fill that space.
It kind of vaguely mattered on smaller FAT32 volumes and FT. Post NTFS it is literally pointless which you know but it makes me sad to think about.
having this windows rendering that shit made the process 10 time slower
My dad did this every other day and I wanted to play Diablo :/
Mein bro
I still remember when i got my C64, it was magical.
my first game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rvf1W1z6GsI
I remember that mom set a password so I wouldnt play games all day. But I've learned that you can bypass passwords by typing administrator or some thing like that
Wew lad, my first computer had windows 95
>og gamers
>wXP
lmao
back in my day we had to learn DOS just to start up programs and games.
I had to type win to start my first machine.
I want hardware to get better but for the aesthetics to stay the same
Is it too much to ask?
You wouldn't have nostalgia for the old stuff if there wasn't new stuff in its place
god i remember having to pack my entire monitor into a gigantic tupperware countainer so i could go LAN with my friends and his parents
i do not miss crts
God do I ever hate the all white/slightly yellowish beige aesthetic of 90s PCs. Reminds me how retarded Sony are for making the default PS5 white when it looks so much better in black.
>slightly yellowish
Anon, nothing was yellow back then, thats from smokers
You little cunt PET goes yellow from UV interaction not nicotine unless you're fucking stubbing your shit out on it. To further your lying: yes it fucking did if you were dumb enough to put your PC in a well lit area. The school computers were rotting in 97. Fuck you and fuck your pathological lying.
Why don't they make desks like this anymore?
Because normal people use laptops
My first PC had windows 3.11
>my Solitaire deck theme? why its the castle!
brutally mogged by the beach
Fuck off
Zillenial here, played runescape on this. Used the chess picture btw.
Unless you grew up as a only child anyone around 2000 has used XP.
Windows 3.1x with Microsoft Entertainment Pack
Fuji Golf and Ski Free motherfuckers
get off my lawn
Don't talk to me unless you beat Chip's Challenge on Win 3.1.
For me, it was this and Rodent's Revenge
Rare pepe
My gaming addiction started with two demo discs called WAY COOL GAMES and THIS SHIT WAS ON IT
holy FUCK
Shit, hold on.
Yeah thanks for fucking reminding me Critical Mass existed.
My first windows was 3.1 on a 486mhz cpu with 8 megs of ram and I played ms flight sim, monopoly, solitaire, and the doom shareware disk. There were more games I played I’m sure but it’s been a looooong time.
bro i started here
Why is there so much negative space around the edges?
memory saving, The C64 was a toaster that stuck around until computers with GUIs became prevalent.
Try Windows 3.1
I miss her
Have in mind that the first generation zoomers still lived with windows XP, furthermore, my zoomer ex bf literally still uses a win xp computer today.
gay
What's wrong with that?
Do you prefer to have all females ask for your bank account credentials to know if you're up to par with them?
Or asking for 100$ because you got your car broken into and couldn't go to the date?
Or just get a fellow gentleman and just enjoy not caring about meaningless shit, with a peaceful and innocent romance?
>zoomer guys are unironically becoming gays for the sole reason that they're not man enough for zoomettes
lmao
So you are a fag because women acting like women make you feel insecure? Lol what a gay.
>Do you prefer to have all females ask for your bank account credentials to know if you're up to par with them?
Fuck off whore
>Or asking for 100$ because you got your car broken into and couldn't go to the date?
I live in Detroit how the fuck did you manage this?
>Or just get a fellow gentleman and just enjoy not caring about meaningless shit, with a peaceful and innocent romance?
Find good women
>Lol dude you just have to put up with females being absolute deHispanicable pieces of garbage
>I-It's just normal female behavior
Fuck off, I'd rather be with a man than any modern day female, even a fucking mentally ill chud would be miles better than them.
I thank God every day for making me a bifag.
>bifag
There's no such thing as bisexuality. All men are attracted to women and all women to men. You're only settling for cock instead of pussy because you don't want to be lonely and you're not capable of keeping a good woman happy.
>All men are attracted to women and all women to men
That's objectively false, only women have a deep down desire for men, but men can be perfectly gay and bisexual, you just cannot accept that there's people that are different than you.
I'm not settling for a dude because I can't get a womb owner, I just never been interested in egg producers to begin with despite being able to be sexually attracted to them, plus, you just don't know how much better men are compared to women, there's not even a comparison.
Gay shit is mental illness. And it should be corrected when found.
>And it should be corrected when found
You can't change someone's tastes or behavior.
That's why there's so many divorces nowadays from femoids trying to change their bf and never being able to.
>you just cannot accept that there's people that are different than you
Also
>only women have a deep down desire for men
Is it a touch ironic for you to say that? A bit... hypocritical after your claims?
Ignore this bozo
Be as much of a gay as you like, I certainly believe that some aspects of attraction or "tastes" can be altered, but I don't have the power, nor inclination to make such changes.
Yikes dude
>Or just get a fellow gentleman and just enjoy not caring about meaningless shit, with a peaceful and innocent romance?
based
we still have computers running XP at work I see this login screen all the time still
I remember windows 3.1 coming with a recipe for strawberry ice cream.
>Taimur Asad
millennial here
>nooo zoomers can't turn old
LMAO what?? it's just called TIME, gays
i remember win95, playing extremely obscure games that i still cant find. why did my fucking whoever threw my ancient hardrive? WHO DID THAT
Man now I remember my MS-DOS complete course.
I was playing computer shit before GUI fucking existed, you REAL child...
gays and trannies need to go back to living in the shadows again. everyone was happier this way
Anyone remember this game? From the "Old shit we played because all of our family PCs were toasters" pack
too old to be here that's for sure
my bonger
oi m8
thats not win 98
>Windows XP
moron I played when it was still Windows 3.1
I played Logo and Oregon Trail on Apple IIe
AAAAA
Damn, windows XP, that's some ancient shit right there.
Windows 95 users will remember this
Weezer - Buddy Holly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kemivUKb4f4
Sadly my first OS was Windows 98
I would have dug this
i hate being reminded that zoomers exist
Nesticle was amazing for the time.
I remember being bummed Crystalis didn't really work right because it was my favorite NES game I didn't own.
>Hi, my name is Bobbie
>recently update my CPU and mother board
>pic related pops up
How long can I postpone this before Bill Gates kicks down my door and installs it in my bussy
How is windows 11 more resource-intensive than windows 10? To me they seem identical (have Win11 at work and Win10 at home)
>he didnt disable non-essential updates
oh no no no
Install win 10 ltsc and never suffer nagware again

I have this installed on my current Win10 machine, surprised it still works tbh. I don't have the patience for it anymore, but it's nice to play from time to time.
Windows ME was my first OS and I still don't understand what it was exactly.
a mistake mostly, i started with Windows 95 personally though my more fond memories were on the Windows 98 machine that replaced it, couldn't run shit on that '95 machine.
getting old sucks i just realized i've been on this website sixteen years.
what the hell even happened with ME, I know it was a thing and remember people talking about it being shit, but just never actually used it, just went 95>98>XP

Uuuuuuuhm… that just makes them even more creepy
begone chrysalis
Now now, most of the people using Windows 3.1 and DOS weren't old, their family just had shit PCs into the late 90's. It was a rarity to upgrade a PC every time a jump in computer happened because they all cost ~3000 bucks each in 90's money.
>kid in the late 90s
So they are 35 now
Precisely.

I need your help finding an old DOS game I used to play
>"mouse and peas" is what I remember the title being, but never found anything under that name
>overhead 2d puzzle game where you as a mouse have to set off a mousetrap which contains cheese
>extremely simple kids game
>gameplay is rotating spoons which are used as catapults to launch peas into the mousetrap
At this point I have to assume it was a game my dad made and was too embarrassed to tell us he made it
Nah the level layout was extremely simple, big mousetrap with cheese, and big spoons around it which can be rotated in increments
yawn
should have posted commodore 64
Whos old enough to remember this gem?
Fuuuuck, played that with my dad all the time. IIRC you could even hit the sun and break it apart.
Chess piece was always looking super comfy, idk why, might be the colors. But generally I'd rotate between that, the rocket, the plane, the palm and so on.
Any slavbros who remembers picrelated?
;_;
I was playing Monkey Island and Space Quest on Windows 3.1
bro I am too old
I used XP up until 2013-2014 and only switched to 7 because XP had bad 64bit support.
I'm still on 7
I still used 7 up until July of this year but I put together a new computer and switched to Linux.
>Linux
I've got an old laptop I don't use that I'm thinking of test running it on before switching over entirely.
It's a good idea to make sure the programs you use are either compatible or have an alternative you can use. Other than that video games are generally in a good spot besides some multiplayer games that use anti-cheat. These might give you an idea:

Cheers anon.
I gamed using 7, XP, 2000. 98..
Though for me it stared with dos, particularly using DosHell
Your test is inadequate, I used XP from when my family first got a PC in 2003 until a couple years ago when google stopped updating chrome for XP, but this in no way makes me an OG PC gamer nor does being familiar with XP prove that I'm an OG gamer in general
Back when I was first allowed to have my own profile on the family pc, I instantly released my power level and set this as my wallpeper, along with a spinning x-wing for mouse pointer.
I forgot all about that site.
Fucking around with Gamehippo on the wayback machine now and it's is pure sovl.
I'm so old I played Old School Runescape when it was just called Runescape
kek, I could never get into it. I only really used the computer when I had friends over, we played territory war and boxhead a lot in those days. Had a PS2 at the time but didn't get a PC until the PS3 had left my wholly underwhelmed, except for Warhawk and Littlebigplanet.
Looking back on it playing Runescape at my grandparents' house instead of hanging out with them is probably one of my biggest regrets.

christ. most of my favorite childhood PC games were made during the days of DOS, win 3.1, and win95. Apogee shareware games were my bread and butter, and then stuff like DOOM 1 and 2, and warcraft 1 and 2.
I also played on those "101 best games" type of freeware old games. This pic might be from one of those games i've never been able to find. What's it called?
Mystic Tower.
Thank you so much for posting this.
Holy mother of soul. This plus Battle for Middle Earth and Medieval 2 Total War. Its gaming time.
what? windows xp isn't old it came out...
what the fuck
Fuck you. I’m not even old and started with Win 98.
The first pc I ever used was one of those colorful macintosh ones. then years later we got a computer in the house with either windows 98 or 2000. I think it was the latter
Zoomer as used on Ganker is just a term used to immediately shut down people for liking anything made after 2000 because muh old thing worship. It is ironically used most by the people whom the term describes, often because they're desperately trying to look older.
you say this as if boomer hasn't been the opposite lol
YOU CAN NOW TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER
Sup.
ok this series is confusing. which ones are original games, which ones are remakes, and which ones are the best versions of the games to play?
Played mine in a fucking pack that came in a cereal box (maybe)?
There was a bunch of games on it, like a Space Brick breaker or whatever. I think the company who made those distributed them, I can't recall the name.
My favorite Incredible Machine was Even More Contraptions which was the version that came on this CD.
For me, it was Even More Contraptions packaged with Hoyle
HOYLE!
Thanks, I was racking my brain trying to find the name.
Yep. I used to have all three from 2005 (board games, puzzle games, casino games). I still can't beat Harley in chess lmao
They still sell them. I think I got a 2018 or 2019 version around somewhere.
Windows 95 was my first OS.
Kino startup from Brian Eno.
That was 4 or 5 OS's past how old I am. My childhood games required me to exit Windows 3.1 to return to the DOS prompt.
I have this installed on my T430 running Kubuntu in a Windows 98 virtual machine. I WILL 100% IT
Do it. I got a torrent years ago but somehow never managed to make it work. I think the ISO was corrupted.
I just ripped my CD.
Fucking Bro. Spread that shit on the web!
I'm pretty sure it's already available.
The only good thing about being old is the infinite amount of gamer cred
I remember playing zoombinis on my parents pc, alongside a bunch of other weird puzzle games.

>when you're mere minutes away from your new windows 98 gaming experience
If you didn't have to sit through swapping a dozen floppies and set IRQ on your soundcard you're not oldschool.
Wait, let's correct that. If you didn't have to pry the plastic cases off your cartridges because your family's 800XL had a defect with the cartridge port and they wouldn't seat properly otherwise, and subsequently memorized which game was which due to the pattern of chips on the cart, then you aren't old school.
>That's old
fuck off
You didn't just throw them away, right?
I'm a 24 year old zoomer and even i grew up with this
Im old enough
man remember when software actually had an aesthetic?
i miss this era. now everything is completely devoid of soul. like at some point the mask came off and corporations went full soulless because they know we know they're pure evil and won't lift a finger to stop them.
Everybody, and I mean fucking everybody hated this aesthetic when XP came out
there were plenty of people who liked it even at the time
anything that looks like a non shitty phone looks good to me nowdays
Mostly true, HOWEVER back then it was normal to have options to change it as you saw fit. Now you can't.
I do. I’ve been using a 4K version of Bliss as my wallpaper for a while.

I did this too, until I got caught
>gave friend floppy disk with pictures of tits I found on some website
>he gets caught with it by his parents and immediately rats me out
>no longer allowed on the computer
I had a shitty Dell XP machine. Broodwar was the best I could run for YEARS
I still think of those dark gray towers whenever I think of Dell today, they’re like completely inseparable from the brand in my eyes thanks to how many I’ve seen in other people’s homes, in libraries and in schools
When I think of PC towers in general that's what pops into my mind
How about this old?

>Came out in 1992
>I was playing this in a kindergarten classroom about 28 years ago, sitting next to a window at a cheap wooden desk against a yellow plaster wall
I'm genuinely feeling distressed right now.
XP was a mistake. It was when Microsoft started designing Windows for mouthbreathers instead of businessmen.
You didn't experience peak Windows if you never used 2k.
Held on 2K up till 2007

I remember making my desktop wallpaper be a shitty hentai image whenever I was on the computer, and I put it back to being the default blue background when I got off or was told to get off. Even had this one animated gif of a catgirl with tiger print clothes getting railed from behind. Always kind of wanted to find that image again for nostalgia's sake. That and this one with a naked blonde dickgirl who had her cock in a hotdog bun among a tray of actual hotdogs in buns.
Man, why do I even remember these images? It's been over 20 years.
you kids know nothing
>Blowing my teacher's mind by showing him how to Degauss his fucked up screen
I am this old
I got detention for tricking kids into thinking I was a wizard who could "hack" their computer with a spell but I was just triggering the degausser with a crappy lab magnet.
Good lord lmao, I’m seriously rolling over here man
>Not the dumbest reason I got in trouble (which involves getting digimon banned from school because the teachers thought we were circle jerking in a field) but its up there.
for me it was participating in a "fight" that was just someone beating me unconscious mid-class
That's pretty dumb anon I'm sorry. I just got sent home for whistling once when I can't fucking whistle. Not really being punished for getting concussed.
one of my dad's storage cases had them and I thought they were "better" because they were bigger.
Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP. Home.
Anyone can go to the catalog right now and see that most people are barely in their 20s. There's no way anyone over 30 is still around
haha yeah that's impossible you're supposed to have an actual fulfilling life when you're 30+ imagine still being there at 30+ no but I mean seriously
The only way to use the catalog on Ganker these days is to use a judicious amount of filters. Yeah, some newfag will call you a member of whatever website his friends have told him to hate this week for daring to filter all the trash his kind produces, but fuck him.
Aren’t they just the fucking worst?
It's terrible. I never use to use filters, but recently the amount of shit on this website has reached critical mass. If I go on /a/ it's something like 4 threads. /a/ is probably the most heavily moderated board on this website. If I go on /gif/ or 4chan it's always 14+ threads hidden, and even then there's always at least one or two people evading the filter in some way.
It's almost impossible to use filters on Ganker because almost no one puts any distinct terms in their posts. You could try to filter out a game by putting the title in, but someone will just create a thread with a thumbnail followed by their garbage shitpost.
most boards i usually have between 50-90 threads hidden at any given time
Haha, yeah. Can you imagine?
i'm 32, married, and have kids. shitposting on Ganker will never not be fun for me. did you think you weren't here forever?
>We assure you teacher, computers are the future and our school needs to get one asap.

I remember getting the hard shell ones and going "wow these are WAY more reliable!" fucking imagine. The big boys could be corrupted by breathing on them too fucking hard.
I didn’t grow up with the original floppies and didn’t spend much time with 3.5” ones before moving to CDs, so I was floored when I first saw the copy of King’s Quest that my mom played when she started college

I remember hanging out at a child watching place and they had a no-internet PC with a bunch of eGames slop on it. I will always love Speedy Eggbert even if it is really shit though.

HOLY FUCK STOP TALKING ABOUT BOOMERS AND ZOOMERS YOU GOD DAMN RETARDS HOLY SHIT SHUT THE FUCK UP
Old windows sound effects terrorfied me when I was kid. Don't ask me why.
It was self prewservation instinct
It is much stronger when you are a kid
You knew you had the technological antechrist right in front of you but your young mind couldn't put it into words
whoa
I had to get dad to open doors in Doom because the sound was the scariest thing. Demons? No problem, EEEUUUUUUUUUUUUUSHSHH fuck me I'm dying.
Kind of hilarious now considering that sound effect ended up in a ton of foley work for other games/film/tv I'd be fucked if it stuck.

lets find out who's actually been around the block
Only the true oldfags remember this masterpiece.
No, you have to put the CD up your ass
You must be joking, this game's market tail lasted nearly a decade.
Threads literally seconds from dying but:
No idea

Boo!
Now you know the source of your hatred towards game developers.
Let's face it, the internet was better when it took us 5 minutes to load a page. We should have never allowed it to get this far.
Grandparents had a PC at their house that was always covered up when I was kid growing up. I seriously wonder if they ever used it once. Keep in mind, they used a dishwasher for storing food in it.
For me it was Florescent.
Thanks, Alchemist
