        >but also thinks you're wrong too and so you should both have a nice day
Yeah but considering the protagonist is a gun for hire and his job was specifically to kill The Jackal it makes no sense for him to decide "Hmmm...maybe I should abandon my mission". Hell, I think he just abandons his mission after the opening scene since none of the missions are about getting info on his whereabouts.

Agree. While FC2 is good game the ending is bad, like it was written by bitter old frick who hates life. If you think it over logically, main character could have gotten away with diamonds and bailed safely out of Africa, but instead they just kill themselves like a moron. Makes little to no sense.

Why 2? It took a more action approach but it was still a good game, 3 was when it shit the bed and ended on a cliffhanger.

      What are you fricking smoking?
      DS2 ending is god tier.
You sure you don't mean DS3?

Despite that it is a good game, DS2 ending is awful. Things could have ended with DS2 in classic horror way and we could have prevented shit that is DS3.
In my opinion Visceral games could have struck gold by making Isaac kill Ellie while having heaviest schizo seizure and then see him get blown to pieces after timer for self-destruction of colony runs out. The after credits ending dragged it out too much and Visceral games just ended up making shit sequel that is mediocre third person shooter, and they even wrote themselves to the corner with all bs like evil Moons, Earth getting destroyed, after ending DLC, and alien shit. DS3 made franchise unsalvagable.

It was a very different time. White collar jobs were abundant, the economy was healthy, and corporate culture was more overt about you being a cog in the machine rather than paying lip service to pretending they value their employees as individuals like today. If anything you shouldn’t be condemning the filmmakers for preaching the value of escaping corporate culture, but instead the current nightmarish state of reality and the people responsible for it where you feel lucky to be a white collar office slave.

Mike Judge worked plenty of real jobs before he was an animator. He was an aerospace engineer while creating beavis and butt-head. The ending is about finding freedom and meaning in doing something completely different. People in IT get burnout all the time and change career paths. I’m going to throw out a controversial choice, Halo 2. Ends on a deeply unsatisfying cliffhanger after a really dull bossfight that required years of waiting and investment in a brand-new console to see the conclusion of. It wouldn’t have killed them to add a final level where the Chief lands on earth, stomps some Covenant and reconnects with UNSC troops as a triumphant coda to set up the next game.

They were supposed to. The whole intro of Halo 3 was supposed to be in 2. 2 was a development hell game that was quickly rectified by Microsoft. That's why it has so many fricking elevator and gondola sections, repeating hallways, and just ends abruptly. It was becoming very clear that Bungie wasn't making progress so Microsoft sent people with baseball bats to their office and unfricked the situation for them.

I enjoyed VLR myself, however what you described is exactly what happened to me regarding the sequel Zero Time Dilemma lmao.

how about an ending of a game that is in a book and reads like the biggest bending over backwards to give EVERYONE, except for Bahamut the real badguy, a happy ending?

They seriously did that? FFXV was pretty middling overall but the original ending was something I'd consider one of the highlights. Just as long as you ignore all the wasted potential leading up to it. After the horror that was Chapter 13 I thought World of Ruin was going to save the game only to let me down even further.
Despite all that, I still shed a tear during the camp scene with the bros. Didn't feel anything for Lunafreya because she was a nothingburger of a character and and that whole romance plot should have been tossed. I haven't watched reactions to the game but I'm willing to bet more people got sobby with the bro scene over her death which is how you know you fricked up. She's meant to be the character in the logo illustration for frick's sake! I felt a deeper sense of loss over the car breaking down than her.

Divinity Original Sin 2 had a similarly terrible ending after an awful final act that they had clearly rushed, but it feels worse because the rest of the game was decent. Larian do not care at all about anything past the 2/3rds mark in their games.

You spend half the game playing as an unlikeable muscle woman who killed one of the most loved characters in all videogame history in such a cold blooded way, and the other half of the game you play as ellie trying to get revenge.
Then you get to the ending, where ellie finally finds Abby and you're just hoping for the most graphic killing you've ever seen, but no, ellie chooses to not even kill her and let her go.

    Enslaved Journey to the West

    >Get to ending
    >Its a widescreen monitor showing the voice actors actor basically giving some meaning of life speach while he crys
    >Its just a real life video that classes with the all 3d cartoon graphics aesthetics of the game
    >Game ends with no real resolution, just hints of non existant sequel

Just look at this shit. Imagine this is your ending. Litterally JUUUUST tier

how about an ending of a game that is in a book and reads like the biggest bending over backwards to give EVERYONE, except for Bahamut the real badguy, a happy ending?

There isn't a single good FF book.
They're all utter dogshit filled with manufactured melodrama because the writers at Square at insect people without even the barest concept of humanity.

    Persona 5
    >lose all your friends
    >go back to shitty town you started in
    >with unsupportive parents who thought you were a rapist
    >this despite my girlfriend being a billionaire who I could easily live with and having multiple people consider me like family
Fricking japs think "obeying your parents" is somehow a happy ending, weird bug people.

I wouldn't know. My brain isn't so soft that I can do the same thing over and over again for over 30 hours, so I don't finish most games. I read books when I want a complete narrative, because I'm not moronic.

The original ending had a way better (although grim) ending where the boss still acts exactly like his previous office boss

It was scrapped because Judge didnt want a realistic ending for a comedy
