i never bought or even pirated SV. that game is fucking low quality
[...] >let's slap feathers on salamence and call it a new pokemon!
paradox mons were still a mistake
Yeah, see, it would be nice if it actually worked that way but in practice we get Spiral Knights and car engine Pokémon. I'd rather existing Pokémon have variation like real life animals than whatever Gholdengo is supposed to be.
there are rare cases of original mons from gen 6+ being good, trevenant and glimmora come to mind. i agree that designs from the 3d era are overall shit but there are some diamonds in the rough. gholdengo is a shit design but paradox mons are even worse
i'm not a chud and i don't like trannies, but iron valiant almost certainly exists because of woke amerimutt chud influence in vidya. there is no other possible explanation for such an abomination of a design
>AND CALL IT A NEW POKEMON!
Actually I believe they were very open about the fact that this was supposed to be an ancient alternate form of Donphan from another point in time, they were not at any point trying to pass it off as a "new pokemon" and hoping nobody would notice the similarities to Donphan.
Oh wow you've cracked the code OP.
You must share this revelation with the world and expose the secret that the so called "new pokemon" Great Tusk was ACTUALLY just a modified Donphan the whole time! The masses will be shocked I'm sure.
It's all about presentation and the fact that one of those things murdered an expedition member in cold blood.
We haven't seen something that wild since Manga FUG impaled and hyper beamed OC girl
At this point all I care about for Pokemon is the coomer stuff
That's all that's left for the series until it eventually gets a super overhaul and maybe becomes interesting
>basically no battles >all you do is catch the same pokemon 10x each or do something equally stupid then pick flowers for random NPC, repeat for 100+ quests
I know modern pokemon standards are low, but this game isn't good.
>>That's not an overhaul >Changes the entire combat system with the turn feed and Agile/Strong attacks. >Levels mean virtually nothing and a 30 level difference doesn't even mean you can one-shot stuff. >Completely overhauls the entire catching system and focuses the entire game around it. >Stealth is actually important in catching some Pokemon. >Makes Pokemon hurt you in the field. >Gives Pokemon different AI so that they react differently when you're near them. >Can throw out up to all six Pokemon to follow you. >Can throw Pokemon at objects in the environment so they can scrounge for you.
It's also a mainline game like LGPE, not a spinoff.
how does arceus compare to sword/shield and ruby/spharrie? or rather, was each iteration a direct improvement or did they sacrifice stuff in each step?
>sword/shield
SV and PLA are both infinitely better than SWSH, it's not even a contest. >ruby/spharrie
As someone who grew up with playing like 800 hours of Sapphire I still consider PLA one of my favorites in the series. >was each iteration a direct improvement or did they sacrifice stuff in each step?
They removed abilities and held items and the Strong/Agile attacks don't coincide with what the turn order is, the turn order basically lies to you. Other than that it's filled with quality of life changes out the wazoo that are painful to lose when going to SV for example.
The thing is, it really depends on what you like in Pokemon. If catching Pokemon and filling out the Pokedex is why you like Pokemon then PLA is easily the best game for that. It's a reasonable amount of Pokemon, shiny hunting is a bunch of fun, Alpha Pokemon are fun to catch, the areas are fairly varied and have their owns biomes within those biomes that have their own Pokemon, and there's some pretty decent regional variants.
If you're someone who prefers combat and battling it's not the game for you, it clearly wants you to battle only for making catching easier outside of a couple specific battles and Alpha Pokemon. There's also not many trainer battles in general, and the hardest fights are just at the end of the game and postgame in the post-patch content.

what does it do to improve on it?

Gameplay is the big one, story, exploration, and quality of life to name a few. The only thing SWSH really does well is some of the towns like the mushroom town and I guess the DLC.
SV shows us it looks like the PLA formula is the way they're going to go forward because even SV has a lot of mechanics PLA did like stealth, the open area traversal, fighting without going into an instanced area, learning moves from your summary menu instead of an NPC, being able to buy a lot of important stuff from the store instead of grinding points for them, etc.
I know people have issues with PLA if they're not into the Pokedex filling, but youc an at least see where they're trying to take the series in terms of mechanics.
This game legit killed all the interest I had in the franchise, didn't even bother to look up what this new DLC is about. Actually I wouldn't even know it was a thing if it wasn't for Ganker.
Landorus at home (even if it currently won the usage battle in Singles. Crazy to think Landorus isn't the most used or Top 10 in OU anymore. Could be worse though, he could be Garchomp)
>DUDE WHAT IF SLOWPOKE HAD YELLOW SPOTS? LAMO!!!
regional variants were also a mistake
Nah, you birth was.
>pointing out the lazy on someone's craft is enough to deny someone's worth on being born
You must be fun at parties aren't you, buster?
Honestly I prefer modifications to existing Pokémon more than them desperately trying to come up with concepts they haven't done before.
>honestly i prefer intentionally lazy designs over gamefreak actually putting effort into their designs
fucking gay

>let's make Mega Salamence even edgier and call it a new pokemon!
paradox mons were a blessing
Isn't that unironically the Salamence/Ho-Oh fusion in Infinite Fusions?
you are clinically retarded. i'm afraid it's incurable.
Guess what? You still care to comment. Gamefreak got your attention and still makes money of you. Gamefreak wins.
i never bought or even pirated SV. that game is fucking low quality
>let's slap feathers on salamence and call it a new pokemon!
paradox mons were still a mistake
Your dumbass inadvertently promoted publicity, and publicity sells, especially for a year old game. Your just a victim of crowd supported capitalism.
but if i didn't say anything at all then gamefreak wouldn't have been criticized
Everything beyond gen 4 was a mistake
>Everything beyond gen 5 was a mistake
FTFY
The only 2 things I likes about gen 5 were the gems and hydreigon the region was meh and the starters were ass
what was wrong with the region? serperior and samurott are alright so it's better than gen 6+ starters
It just wasn’t interesting to me, hoenn was pretty bad too
>everything beyond [gen that came out when i turned 13] was a mistake
Everything after Gen 5 was a mistake.
t. born in 87
Bro I was 10-11 when B&W came out and I could tell it was hot garbage
>let's make a killer sexbot and call it a pokemon
thank you game freak
>let's make a chud bot and call it a new pokemon
FTFY
no chud, that's a robot not a man who cut off his dick and has to dilate every hour
i'm not a chud and i don't like trannies, but iron valiant almost certainly exists because of woke amerimutt chud influence in vidya. there is no other possible explanation for such an abomination of a design
in other words, they're blind af.
Did you guys know I want to kill every Gyarados? I'd peel their scales painfully. 🙂
>Past Paradox Mon
>Primitive but generally more radical/interesting physical differences from the base Pokemon, with a couple lazy exceptions.
>Future Paradox Mon
>Uhhh, it's the Pokemon but a robot XD
past and future paradox mons are both lazy. walking wake and iron bundle are the only ones that don't suck
>past paradox mon
>uhhh it's the pokemon but with spiky bits on it XD
only exception is slither wing
no slither wing is the worst offender
walking wake is what you meant to say
what's not to like about donphan? it's a tire elephant
i don't know what a walking wake is
is that one of those dlc mons
i dropped the game a week after playing it
this is walking wake
>suicune but with spiky hair
i rest my case
that was my point yes
It's Suicine but a completely different body structure.
yes yes and mega aerodactyl isn't just aerodactyl with spikes on it because it has different wings or something
i don't care
>future paradox mon
>uhhh it's the pokemon but made of metal XD
All paradox mon are pretty trash
This one actually makes Donphan cool.
no donphan was already cool. lame tusk ruined it
Naw. Original Donphan was boring.
Someone with tastes.
>AND CALL IT A NEW POKEMON!

>they were not at any point trying to pass it off as a "new pokemon"
it has its own dex number so this statement isn't true at all
Oh wow you've cracked the code OP.
You must share this revelation with the world and expose the secret that the so called "new pokemon" Great Tusk was ACTUALLY just a modified Donphan the whole time! The masses will be shocked I'm sure.
>>LET'S SLAP PINK SPIKES ON ________ AND CALL IT A NEW POKEMON!
Yeah gamefreak would have never done something like that back in the day.
all those pokemon were introduced in the same gen and they actually look distinct from each other, unlike donphan and lame tusk
>Lets copy paste some flamingo clip art
>What do we call it
>Just remove 1 letter
>Flamigo
This is the only pokemon I can't defend.
It is literally the most lazy shit ever. Even object mons are still somewhat designed
hey it has a knot (which has a nonsensical explanation and was totally not made up after the design was already finished)
It's all about presentation and the fact that one of those things murdered an expedition member in cold blood.
We haven't seen something that wild since Manga FUG impaled and hyper beamed OC girl
OLD GOOD NEW BAD
DO I FIT IN YET DADDY
LOVE ME PLEASE
>LET'S TURN RAPE BEAR INTO A TERMINATOR BUT MAKE IT INTO A USELESS SPECIAL ATTACKER!
blood moon is such a disappointment
cross gen evos after gen 4 were a mistake
>after gen 4
bro...
?
PLA and Gen 9 actually begins to introduce quite a lot of cross gen evos
what the fuck is blood moon ursaluna?
A special instanced form of Ursaluna with different stats and abilities but for some reason it is a special attacker making it worse.
Should've just gave it it's own unique move that'd work with the blood moon shit
At this point all I care about for Pokemon is the coomer stuff
That's all that's left for the series until it eventually gets a super overhaul and maybe becomes interesting
Same, for the most part.
Paldea was a mess with the girls so i'm not even sure if we can count on that.

That's not an overhaul
That's just a shitty spin-off game

Legends Arceus was a step in the right direction.
But it's very empty feeling overall

>he doesn't exclusively play romhacks for gen 1-5
i stopped playing new pokemon releases but i will still shit on the ugly and lazy as sin pokemon designs
This game legit killed all the interest I had in the franchise, didn't even bother to look up what this new DLC is about. Actually I wouldn't even know it was a thing if it wasn't for Ganker.
true
With the future robo mons it made sense. Finding some ancient relative and calling it an inexplicable paradox doesn't make sense.
This franchise in general is creatively bankrupt.
They also can't design a game for shit anymore
All of the best games that will come out of Gamefreak are already in our past.
