I agree most of his moves are telegraphed, but the AoE spin bullshit is what killed me a lot, you have to basically run in, get some hits in and run out, just poking him and it's annoying. If you stand near him he'll just spin in a circle like a lunatic.
I don't know, it was just a frustrating fight for me personally.
It took me 12 tries, but the Specter did a lot of the work for me.
The AoE spin is pretty BS. If you miss the first parry you can get staggered and die just from that.
The Overheat in phase 2 is also stupid. Area wide effects that require items to cleanse are dumb. God forbid you reward the player for running out of it.
Can you not just add it to your steam library like other games that aren't on steam? If you have a dualshock just use DS4windows it's better than steam anyway.
Gwyndolin is NOT gay or a chud and I am sick of people trying to say he is.
The irony that transsexuals try to champion this character despite him being forced to dress as a girl because his father believed the moon is feminine.
It's mostly boxes and item descriptions.
I like how you get expanded descriptions if you meet certain stat requirements.
Maybe because most people doesn't like bootleger shit being sold as full AAA price. This trash for some reason is even more expensive than ER at release lol. Delusion morons
The lies of flop penis deluxe edition is $70, still unacceptable when a bootleger soulsclone trash being sold as $60. I rather buy 3 copies of MHW instead of this moron bootleger trash

And the circle continue...
The steampunk asthetic look lame as shit
It seems like you just need to add a fuckton of weapons and magic powers but none of them have to work particularly well you just need to have them as options and players will love it
bloodborne has a smaller selection of weapons and is loved by everyone who played, hell sekiro only has one weapon and it won goty, so weapon variety is not it.
Really liking this game but they really needed to put more thought into the boss music. I really like the licensed tracks for the records and also the french music you can hear on the boulevard, but none of that is used for the boss music which has been kind of forgettable so far. The bosses themselves have been memorable enough but I love a good ear worm that elevates a good fight to great and so far haven't really heard any.
Yeah that would have been cool, then the bosses could drop the records for their theme.
I mentioned it earlier today but the first boss has a cool metal sounding song playing on the way up to him. It sounds like metal anyway. Its either that or a sped up "circus" type song that coincidentally sounds metal when it's played faster. Then he destroys whatever is playing the song and the normal ebin souls music plays. I haven't gotten much further than that yet so I don't know if it comes back as a record or something.
Yeah I get what you mean. The Puppet King later on has something similar that sadly also fades out for the actual theme, but the lead up to the fight and the battle itself is good enough that I couldn't be too disappointed even the music could have propelled it over the top.

gays that grew up being like "I'm not going to be into sports like my dad!" only to direct their autism towards even bigger wastes of time like wanking off to the boxoffice draw of a capeshit movie or console sales.
The irony being people who invest themselves in a sports team are willing to admit when their team has been shit for years and years but goddamnit, they just need a chance and maybe they can turn things around this year.

Yeah they were a top tier team in the fucking 90s, where MJ was around and there to ensure no one but the Bulls were allowed to be champions each year. Then after he retired the Knicks also went back to sucking.
They have no ability to look at a game and judge it on it's merits or listen to a song and assess it's quality. Their literal NPC's without the ability to reason, so their only metric of judging quality is "how many people are playing" "How many copies did it sell" and other number based metrics to give their soulless husks some perspective

I'd put it a bit above Surge 2 in terms of quality, though some of that is to taste because I'm not that into sci-fi. Not better than Nioh, though Nioh is already better than Fromsoft so that's a high bar.
Best fromsoft knockoff to date. Goes toe to toe with fromsoft titles and falls somewhere in the middle of the pack. Much better than fucking nioh like that other chucklefuck said. No other souls clone to date comes close.
My personal ranking for disclosure
Sekiro
ER
BB (inflated by aesthetics not pure game mechanics)
LoP
D1
D3
Des (I'd like to rank Des over D3 but mechanically D3 has great end game dlc fights and DeS shows its age everywhere)
Nioh 2
Nioh
Power gap
Surge 2
Code vein
Ashen (can't remember if this is the name? The fucking unity souls looking one lmao)
Hellpoint (whatever that one single programmer clone was called with twisting level design and bosses that come back as enemies constantly)
D2
Surge
Mortal shell
LotF
Think it really depends on what you're looking for.
Elden Ring is my favorite souls game but I expected that going in. I played through every souls game a month before release and rated them. I found myself rating Sekiro lower than it should be and Demon's Souls higher than it should be just because I like build diversity and being able to tackle things in different orders on subsequent playthroughs.
Elden Ring was basically made for people like me who don't mind that much if it isn't a major mechanical evolution in combat.
ER has so much content and variety that it can be played in many different ways. I love ER randomizers and being forced into weird builds. Also some standout fights, but nothing sekiro tier.
Nioh 2 is really held back by shitty boss design but it is murdered by actually offensive and unpleasant level design. In fact almost everything in Nioh 2 on a design decision scale is dogshit. Diablo loot gear is dogshit. Ability mastery trees are dogshit. I enjoy the actual mechanics of fighting in Nioh 2 but there is nothing worthwhile to fight. It's not even difficult because the difficulty revolves around speed but enemies don't have enough attacks or mix ups to reward adaptability. It becomes flowchart execution with tight timing.
The first boss? Keep your distance, poke him in his windows in phase 1, then spam consumables during phase 2. Throw items are extremely powerful for this sort of game, so them being capped much harder makes sense.
what? she isnt that hard, she has a a certain rhythm to her attacks and just blocking is fine
its a shame you dont get her sword and get a dumb chackram for her ergo
its like they tease you a whole lot in the marketing with a knight with a badass sword
then when you actually fight her, she finally speaks and shows just how metal as FUCK her sword is, and gets EVEN MORE METAL as fuck in phase 2 only for us NOT to use it
I downloaded this on goypass and didn't really expect to get into it, but it's been pretty fun so far. Just beat the big furnace duder in OP's image too. Advance seems real good because it powers up your arm spells too, you aren't able to use the elemental grinding stones however.
This thing feels like Venigni was just trying to see how big a functional robot he could actually make to wow investors. Wish we could ask him about it.
>Is there a way to disable the controls that show in the top right?
Oh that? That's part of the game's tutorial, it goes away on its own after you beat the first boss
>I beat a dude who just came back from the afterlife through the neck of another dude >I beat an extradimensional entity with bullets and a saw >I beat Mew with Pikachu
Basic plot told in the opening cutscene is people dig up moon rocks, use it to power robots, spark big industrial revolution and prosperity raising community from literal backwater village to bustling cosmopolitan city, then shit suddenly goes wrong and the power sources start corrupting the puppets.
From what I could gather >Some weird fucking disease causes humans to get petrified and turn into monsters (with proper cultivation) >Pupprts also go berserk for related reasons >Geppetto creates an artificial boy to bring his son back to life >sends this boy to kill shit and gather the things necessary for revival under the pretense of saving everyone
A portrait of him has its nose grow every time you lie
Are all the bosses robots?
Probably the best souls game I've played that isn't made by From Soft but I just beat large slow moving lightning robot with two phases and now I'm fighting large slow moving fire robot with two phases and I'm just not feeling it as much.
not all enemies or bosses are robots. however, i wouldn't get your hopes up for inspired or really cool enemy design. there are cool designs to be sure, but it's not from soft left cool. aesthetically the game isn't as good as their games, but they're the best in the industry at aesthetics so it's not a fair comparison.
where lies of p is best is in its mechanics. the mechanics are an amalgamation of souls that brings all of the best ideas into one game and balances them well.
>where lies of p is best is in its mechanics. the mechanics are an amalgamation of souls that brings all of the best ideas into one game and balances them well.
So a ripoff
but a ripoff that does something from soft has yet to do. i wanted elden ring to have all of the mechanics but it's sorely missing sekiro deflect which lies of p has.
I get you. I wish Fromsoft would make a game with renamed trick weapons/shinobi tools/deflects/power stancing/a grappling hook instead of making a gimmick in their latest game and then dropping it for their next instead of refining it further. Hell I'd just be down for trick weapons again.
>sekiro deflect
You could do that with parry dagger or art of war, and deflecting energy beam, huge fist whatever look fucking dumb and retarded. Just look at the retard blocking in lies of p when everything clipping the fuck out of you
In Lies of P (and Wo Long) you can parry most attacks.
Parry is useful, at best, for maybe half of Elden Ring and DS3.
None of those games really have Sekiro parry though.

I don’t think everything should’ve been deflectable since the enemies of ER are more larger than life than Sekiro’s but shit like the dual wielding banished knight’s anime protagonist combo string is just BEGGING for that big deflect cock
The puppet speech is always garbled if you look close enough you can read it. Says “My flames… o, my king!” Does anyone know if they become readable in NG+? Or do we have to scrub through screenshots? Shits impossible to read in the heat of the moment
>Every Dex weapon >None have a hilt comparable to Booster hilt
That fast charge forward charge attack is too fucking good. Dancer Blade charge is so fucking LONG. Guess I just need to combine these bros
According to plebbit the parry window is the opposite of Sekiro. Instead of timing your block for the enemies parry window, your block is a parry window so as long as the enemies attack falls in your window it's a perfect parry.
Guys, with all due respect, but you're delusional if you think that 95% of people aren't playing this on gamepass. Nobody will pay $60 for this when you can simply pay a few bucks to rent for a month.
Yeah probably. I got a pretty good deal from a key seller and felt like throwing them some money after liking the demo, but I would recommend most people play it through Gamepass because of Denuvo.
>try to parry enemies >they all have taken the elden ring school of having 80 years of windup and 0.1 seconds of swinging >doesn't even feel rewarding to parry. >enemies randomly break out of stun to swing at you
Should I have picked the strength weapon? Did I cane whip myself again?
No, dex weapons are actually pretty good. I've seen some people saying Strength is busted, other people saying Dex is busted, I think it's just a difference in playstyles specific to each person. While pretty basic it did help me to practice parry timing on the punching training dummy at the hotel.
I picked STR and I hate it. I would restart if I weren't so far in. These heavy weapons are even slower than souls UGS, but without any poise or actually good weapon arts to back them up.
You'd think heavy weapons would be good at staggering bosses, but actually they're fucking awful at it because you have to land your slow-ass charged attack or fable arts (with no poise) within an incredibly restrictive stagger window.
Just beat the 4th boss, no summons. The game is good overall but here's what I don't like so far >Level design is too linear and there's barely any branching paths to explore >No poise >Legion arms feel laughably weak >Fable meter builds up insanely slow and the fable arts themselves are barely even better than a strong attack >Having to go back to the hotel every time I wanna level up >Durability running out mid boss fight, forcing you to run away and sharpen >The window to stagger an enemy is laughably short, especially considering how fucking slow these charged attacks are
It's got some good mechanics but many of them are implemented in really unsatisfying ways.
I feel that either heavier frames should grant poise, or heavy weapon handles should have some built-in hyper armor to make using them feel a bit safer.
The launcher arm is extremely useful, since it's basically the only proper ranged weapon you get. Once you get the P-Organ upgrade to regen legion charge on kills, it lets you kite lots of enemies, especially with the 2nd upgrade that lets you quickly pop off a second shot.
I disagree with every point you make except >leveling at hub maiden
The game gives you tools to lengthen the visceral attack opening window and fable arts are meant to be a faster option to trigger them than a charge attack. There is poise and hyper armor.

Aren't you the anti-BG3 shill?
Why the fuck would killing NPCs matter?
I could have done with slightly lower difficulty and no summon mechanic. The first boss guide I clicked on mentioned summoning as the primary means of beating the bosses so you could attack their backs. The electrified watchman was quite hard.
The fist boss with a summon is scrapped watchman, and then kings flame, both he recommends summoning. I actually didn’t read anymore and went back to playing and beat the watchman without a summon.
I would have trouble comparing this to elden ring because I only beat the watchman but it’s quite difficult because the parry is so slow so you need to lead the parries by quite a bit and sometimes the enemy will follow up and attack before P’s guard animation goes back down and resets so you can parry again which I think is cheap.
Hmm, I'd say the difficulty overall is probably somewhere between Elden Ring and DS3 for me. Despite being mechanically similar to Sekiro it never gets quite that difficult, nor as difficult as the worst fights in Elden Ring.
There we go, let's pretend sekiro is easy for farming internet cred points.

I didn't say it was easy, but it is easier.
Either the gameplay clicks for you or it doesn't, but once it does the difficulty drops like a rock.
I think people underestimate how powerful ressurrections and infinite stamina can be.
>Demon's Souls (she comes back) >Can't kill Anastacia, and she's the closest thing to one >Dark Souls 2 (You can temporarily revive her, but she has the most "permanent" death) >Dark Souls 3 (She comes back) >Bloodborne (She comes back) >Technically Elden Ring, but that's a story thing
Dark Souls 1 has multiple "fire keepers" all of which as far as I can remember can die. Anor Londo knight girl, Spider chick, Anastasia via the assassination quest
Game is neat but there only being a few Fable abilities and not unique ones per weapon and how you, even at full upgrade strength for the time of game, never feel particularly strong against any of the bosses who get 2 life bars each time which is just pretty frustrating.
Someone who understands character design please explain to me why hideous ugly monsters made by Fromsoft feel so much more soulful than hideous ugly monsters made by other game companies.
Seriously, what bias you are talking about? Could you tell me? blue fairy look like some fucking mmo bitch moron face #3225252, could you prove me wrong?
From the two bosses I saw in this game I don't think there's a lot of passion, it's not having a lot of characterizing traits, the designs are generic, it lacks any impact. It's not visually appealing because the guy behind it is in it for the moneybonly I bet.
Everything from bosses to simple npcs in soulsborne is designed, animated and put to life with an energy coming directly from the heart. He believes in his creations, whoever is working on them I mean. I bet the dude spent hours just seeing the movements in his head, thinking and rethinking every moves, maybe mimicking them himself to find a flow and the best set of moves to insert in the game. It's like japanese theatre.
No surprise a lot of youtubers are making fight videos with bosses from fromsoft games. You simply don't find anything reaching that level of animations in the industry. Combine it with the character design which is not just very good but again the best in the industry and you get very strong games you can see being talked about everywhere even one decade later. >ib4 play more game fromdrone
I did.
I feel that's not really being charitable. I'm about 20 hours in and I think there was passion put into this game, as opposed to it just being a cheap cash grab, I just think their ability to execute that passion simply pales in comparison to Miyazaki and his team.
Miyazaki’s comprehension of real world mythology and religion, and his ability to thematically weave it into literally everything about his games is unmatched, he’s an actual savant in the gaming industry
I'll give you Bloodborne, ER, and Sekiro, but Dark Souls has to have the most overrated lore/story/worldbuilding/whatever you want to call it I have ever encountered in any form of media with the sole exception of D&D settings.
That Hawkshaw video about the plot against the gods is one of the most schizo analyses I’ve seen of any game’s narrative, the reputation of Dark Souls lore really exceeded it and had people scraping the bottom of the barrel for more views/clout

Fuck that sucks, for a million dollars I don’t think I could beat that, especially with the saber I picked with a balanced build. The game has a great setting and gameplay, I wish they didn’t go for “make sekiro look easy” bosses. It cheapens the game. And making a game people who beat sekiro can’t or won’t beat isn’t a good idea for your studios first big game. I see myself giving up and never checking for Lies of P pt.2, these bosses are too much.
I just think it's really generic and has silly abstract fantasy crap you find in a lot of Japanese media. I swear I've seen stories where the protagonist must do X to usher in a new or save the existing one numerous times just in the JRPG format. It has to be some kind of cultural touchstone related to the dramatic shift from the Edo Period to the Meiji Restoration and/or the defeat of the Japanese Empire. When you see a similar theme in western work (ending of LotR for example) it's usually a bittersweet goodbye to the world that was where the protagonist is not literally forcing fate.

I mean in the sense of "a big open space that's also a collectathon, but unlike say Banjo-Kazooie the game's primary goal isn't to be a collectathon, it's just filler"
Yeah I was being rude because I only saw the guy in the demo and another sharing a very similar design. I'd check on youtube but internet is shitting the bed and it refuses to load unless it's in 360p turning everything into mush.
Miyazaki has talked about having some dignity in the design of pained and horrifying creatures. The artist needs to respect their own work instead of just doing it because they are told to or to copy the aesthetic they are going for.
Tips for starting? Its hard to find any decent info on what builds to avoid and stuff because most stuff Im seeing seems to be from people that are shitty at videogames and just want the difficulty nerfed.
I'd say if you want to play a bit more cautiously as you get used to the game's mechanics, go Dexterity (Technique). The starting repier is a good weapon with some mobility built into its attacks so feels a bit safer to start with than the Strength (Motivity) weapons that are trickier to use. You can adjust the handles of weapons to scale off your primary stat later if you find a moveset you really like on a non-Dex weapon.
Gotcha. I went with strength sweeper since I almost always use those kinds of builds first playthrough in these kinds of games. Ill see into trying dex later.
It doesn't matter. IMO rapier is the better of the 3 starter weapons because of its long range charge attack and back step. All 3 weapons are available like 30 minutes into the game.
From there it's up to you. There's weapons of all sorts of speeds regardless of stat and you can mix-match most blades and hilts.
I guess best early tip is to get the electric weapon from the travelling merchant. Puppets are weak to blunt and electricity (generally) so it makes the first few acts easy and then when you start encountering fleshy enemies swap to the salamander fire knife.
alternatively just pick a weapon you like and pump its primary stat.
I kind of liked the overheat management of Steelrising, but I'd say this is better. Not as much getting bogged down in story stuff and NPCs and I'm not big on the historical fiction stuff.
So much worse. Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled on this boss even though she's kind of a literal who in the story and is basically just the personal guard of the game's villain
A lot of bosses in this have two life bars. And there is a fight where you are constantly fighting two enemies at once but it's not too bad.
Fuck that sucks, for a million dollars I don’t think I could beat that, especially with the saber I picked with a balanced build. Fuck, did they take it too far in your opinion? There is always some asshole out there doing no hit runs of these games, but I’m not that guy. I’d like to finish it.
A word I’ve honestly never seen on Ganker. Ever since the Lies of P topics popped up either everyone is using this word or an autistic “Barry” like poster is spending all day in these topics posting “moron”.
I have noticed a worrying trend of these hyper obsessive autists getting more and more bold in their spam on Ganker. I think the Starfield one is still the worst we've had in a long time, maybe that one guy spamming the Tencent stuff in BG3 threads. This one feels more like a small yippy dog, not really that bad.
They were spamming the bear sex and companion sex shit long befit the tencent thing became a factor, that was push back against the spam seeming very coordinated
Then there’s that motherfucker posting the star-chan e-boi that isn’t even in the game. We have some annoying resident autists on this board. Very disturbed and troubled people.
I don't really blame the original creator of that character for making her, but damn, I wish some autist hadn't been riled up and used her for his weird one man advertising campaign.
Why does this steampunk action adventure game has Windows 8 Metro UI? How the fuck do groups of people get enough money and talent together to make a game like this but then the game's UI just ends up being designed in fucking PowerPoint?
It's the laziest fucking shit bro, it's not like this because it gives you the best quality product, it's like this because some gay cunt can literally draw it in MS paint and a programmer can code it up. There's no need for concept artists and UI artists when everything is just thin bordered see-thru rectangles. It's fucking soulless, nobody is going to remember these games a few years down the line.
What's the last big game that came out that didn't do this slop? KC:D? It's so ubiquitous I'm afraid all the UI designers in the industry have simply been retired or fired.
It's mostly boxes and item descriptions.

Oh, it almost certainly will be. From what I've seen, the devs put a bigger focus on exploration than on proper combat. Fortunately, I'm very tolerant of jank.
Miyazaki has talked about having some dignity in the design of pained and horrifying creatures. The artist needs to respect their own work instead of just doing it because they are told to or to copy the aesthetic they are going for.
I think that's what a lot of darker media in general is lacking. Not enough "dignity" to the world, just a bunch of edge.
For whatever reason, there’s this cabal of game devs in the west that have just determined what the “correct” way to make games is and it’s trickled into journalism discourse.
Your UI has to be this or it is bad
Your movement has to be this or it’s bad (not more spinning a character in circle on the same point in space, gotta have them trudge around so you can only awkwardly run in a 3m circle at the tightest)
Your quests need to be like this and they need to have markers or it’s wrong
You can’t have levels or missions with scoring or it’s wrong

I can't believe we just accepted such blatant plagiarism in gaming industry. Every game now is either dark souls or breath of the wild. When did it became socially acceptable to copy things 1 to 1? Just another evidence of decaying postmodern
>popular thing gets copied a lot
Welcome to literally every form of media since the dawn of mass produced entertainment. You been living under a rock your entire life, or are you just a child and this is your first attempt at a coherent thought?
Id rather have that the than “original” shit like Forespoken or Immortals of Aveum
At least they are copying good things so there’s a chance the game might have something enjoyable
>Roguelikes >Metroid/Castlevania clones >I swear to fucking Christ all fighting games are the same with different skins >Battlefield/Call of Duty >Thanks to Skyrim 99% of games are open world
Beat the game. My portrait had a big nose on it and I think i got essentially the true ending. (it wasn't the bad ending anyway) The final decision with Geppetto are what matters than anything.
There's one ending you can always get.
There's one that requires always telling the truth.
There's one that requires always lying and doing other stuff.
Given that the story is about essentially AI you can figure out what the good ending might be from context clues.
Are you aware of the Dark Souls trilogy? >what if you were dead but not really >link the fire anon, dew eet
Yeah they were a top tier team in the fucking 90s, where MJ was around and there to ensure no one but the Bulls were allowed to be champions each year. Then after he retired the Knicks also went back to sucking.
The Knicks of the late 1980s and early 1990s were consistently one of the best teams in the NBA. They won at least 43 games in 11 of 12 years from 1988 to 1999 and even came within one win of a championship in 1994 but the Rockets managed to take it from them.

I was walking on the pillars and doged those old hags tossing shit at me and i make it past them and when i drop down the ladder and went into a hallway I got insta killed by a rolling ball. Its not hard its just tedious area overall
Part of what makes Sekiro my GOAT is that it literally doesn't have stupid shit like this ever
It's not fun, it's not even challenging because you can cheese them with throwables, it's just tedium to pad out the gametime.
NTA, the platforming section ruined it for me
I hate having to run across beams like that while in combat and trying to dodge shit
The whole you get Decayed in two hits is fucking insane
I was walking on the pillars and doged those old hags tossing shit at me and i make it past them and when i drop down the ladder and went into a hallway I got insta killed by a rolling ball. Its not hard its just tedious area overall
Yeah I guess I had just been hoarding throwing weapons because I could take out the spitting fuckers from long range with the buzz saws / pipes and the rest was much more manageable. They're much more fragile than they look.
I think they would have done better making a slightly easier game than fromsoft makes, it might have made the genre more accessible and popular with those who have trouble with souls games. What they made is a game that might be harder and less rewarding than sekiro. I think that’s a bad move.
>Beat the puppet of the future >took a few tries but no big deal >realize you were supposed to drain the sludge before fighting it >deaths came from getting one shot by stomp into poison damage.
why are they taking inspiration from bad DS2 bosses.
SO I just got the sevenfolded japanese steel and I'm wondering; is there a way to reset my weapon upgrades or are there enough of the darkmoons to upgrade this boss weapon as well (can I purchase them)?
I didn't expect a new dex weapon as cool as this... I hate that these games have so much of a "ooo new weapon" thing but there's never really a way to get those limited resource upgrades back.
People are gonna get pissy, but Bloodborne isn't hard at all if you can parry. The exceptions would be Ebrietas, Martyr, and Rom. I haven't touched the DLC yet, can't comment on that.
The parry window is fucking massive for most parryable bosses and mobs as well.
It's the easiest of the Fromsoftware games I've played by miles and yes, Lies of P is harder.
i would say act 4's boss in lies of p is about as aggressive and difficult as orphan of kos. who is definitely the hardest fight in bb outside of gehrman for me
There is no "rhythm" and I felt like there wasn't any sound cues for some of the fights either. It was smooth sailing for me up until I reached the church area and then bosses started having second phases & having >5 hit combos. I think the bosses on this are harder by accident on the developer's part than anything.
>why should you care?
Because it's always intresting to me how different devs handle this types of stuff.
Maybe it's some specific item. Or maybe it's locked by subsequent playthroughs.
Or having specific stat like in BB
Not sure if it changes to be more legible in some way later, but you can read their dialogue if you squint. Like the big electro-watchman talks about people turning to stone and wanting to play with his friends again.
ive been going motive with the starter blade and baton hilt. pretty lit
when do i get another STR hilt because the starter moveset/fable is kinda shit
im at the boss in the factory
is it the donkeys shit?
that fuckin squirrely fucker Survivor gave me issues only because he wouldn't stop fuckin attacking.
the police baton hilt with the buff up fable has been really good to me so far and hopefully theres just a better blade then
hey whatever works. i'm just going for big dick charge up damage with my quartz and all that jazz.
shame the starter fist can't be modified because i prefer that than whatever other shit they gave me
My biggest gripe with the game thus far is this stupid fucking stagger system. Fuck me if I'm using a heavy weapon with a slow charged attack, right? Guess I don't get to be good at the one thing you'd expect heavy weapons to be good at.
I have noticed that if I land a charge attack and it would put them into a "staggerable state" (but they weren't previously) it will count and send them into a stagger. I do think that it's strictly worse than the typical Souls system of enough damage just staggering them outright, at the very least the "woozy state" should have interrupted their attack patterns to leave a proper opening.
It took 2 hours until I beat the watcher. I've beat all the souldborne games and sekrio twice (all bosses) What the fuck is this parry, am I missing something? I used a summon to see how easy it was and it made the fight trivial. So it's either a fucking ridiculous fight or an easy one. Is the rest of the game like this?
Some people paid to play it three days early for some reason like me since I got the upgrade for less than the base game off a keyseller..
I hope every game doesn't start doing this. it's bad enough every retard on Youtube gets a early copy so they can tell people what to think of a game before it even releases
t.proud skeptic
Eh, I think the cats kinda out of the bag on this one.
At least in this case I wasn't entirely sure on Lies of P. So it was nice to come here and see a review from someone who had actually finished it and wasn't writing a review for clicks. Them saying they wouldn't play through it a second time made it a pretty easy choice between playing it on Game Pass or Steam.
pill me on the "arcane" shit. theres some electric batons and all that shit. do they fair well?
do you get to shoot projectiles with later weapons/fists?
Andreus is some fucking bullshit. Fuck the mechanics in this game. Sometimes I take first phase to second with 4 heals left, sometimes I just miss my parries and get raped before even using one heal. Sometimes he just opens with his 5 hit combo and I don't read the last two hits in time. I would not recommend this game to anybody. It's like Armored Core but worse.
Sure but every challenging boss in AC6 left me feeling empty afterwards, not accomplished like the first time overcoming nearly any other difficult From boss. It just felt like I lucked through all the bullshit and finally caught a win. Lies of Piss takes that and amplifies it.
yeah i did. i didn't realize theres a tab for the different types of ability ups like extra charge damage and shit.
its just two dodges in a row right? no special woosh anime shit?
Since he's a human you can backstab him, it works like NPC invaders in Souls games.
[...]

Would unironically enjoy a series of Soulslikes based on Western stories like Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, etcetera. Maybe not Alice in Wonderland because I don't think anyone could beat American McGee for making edgy Alice.
I think they'll probably get another crack at it.
I don't think it needed to do as crazy good as Ganker expects it to.
It's a game that took 3 years, from an unknown company that's built on Unreal Engine. I think as long as they break even they'll try again in a few years.

>unknown company
bro what? its from the third most biggest MMO factory in Korea. Its not an unknow or indie company retard

Oh so even likelier they don't need to do gangbusters to greenlight another game, perfect.

This should be good. Alright Ganker accountants, how much was spent on this game to "break even?"
Downloaded it on my xbone but won't have a chance to play for a bit. Temper my expectations, how is it? Is it difficult in a tedious way like how Souls sometimes put a respawn 3 minutes away from a boss fight?
Because the parying frame is actually came from the characters, not the enemies animation unlike Sekiro or other souls games. So its actually real artificial dificult for the sake of lel hard game
According to plebbit the parry window is the opposite of Sekiro. Instead of timing your block for the enemies parry window, your block is a parry window so as long as the enemies attack falls in your window it's a perfect parry.
I'm running through the theories on this person's deal >korean girl broke his heart >butthurt jap >sick of kpop threads cluttering Ganker >was in the military and had a bad experience stationed there
>korean girl broke his heart
If they're anything like my brother's ex, they also will break your bank account. You'll be lucky to come out of a relationship heartbroken.
Downloaded it on my xbone but won't have a chance to play for a bit. Temper my expectations, how is it? Is it difficult in a tedious way like how Souls sometimes put a respawn 3 minutes away from a boss fight?
I think most of the respawn points have been pretty lenient in distance to the bosses, with some being right around the corner. Definitely no corpse runs even approaching the same ballpark as, say, the chariot in DS2.
She has no name in Collodi's book, she's just called Fairy with Turquoise Hair. So this game is actually more accurate to the book in her appearance than the disney movie.
This electric mace is way too good. Is it a noob trap? Will everything suddenly have 80% electric defense after the 4th area?
I heard that upgrade materials are hard limited, is that true? I havnt spent any yet because my mace is strong enough and I don’t wanna waste them on a weapon I want to replace.
It's probably a good idea to have another weapon with either fire element or non-elemental damage as a backup since you won't only be fighting puppets.
>I heard that upgrade materials are hard limited, is that true?
I've had upgrade materials drop from normal enemies so I think they can be farmed, and the robot at the front desk will also sell lower ranking ones unlimited later.
>I heard that upgrade materials are hard limited, is that true?
Early on you'll be limited but by the end you can buy the mats to bring everything to +9 an special weapons to +3
not really, you get them as enemy drop throughout the game, and the first tier become unlimited shop item after getting an item in factory, i assume it's like souls game where the final item for +10 is gonna be limited per playthrough
Hey, I have a really specific question that probably no one can answer: Down the shortcut elevator from the first stargazer in the Malum District, near where you fight the big guy with the mace that busts through a wall, there's a shortcut ladder. But I can't see any way to get up to where it is and moving forward doesn't seem like it's going to loop back. Am I being retarded and missing something obvious or is this some later thing? Also, what's up with the weird like... yellow stargazery looking thing in the graveyard near the first Malum stargazer? It just says "can't interact with this now" when I touch it, or something along those lines.
I know where you're talking about. I've been told there's something that happens later to help you get up there, but I'm several hours from that point so it must be a ways further on.
man, is police baton + sawblade the best unga bunga weapon? it's pretty ridiculous str scaling and reach while not actually losing speed from the swing moveset
I just beat the first boss and got to the hotel. Does the dodge even have i-frames? I can perfect party enemies fairly consistently, but so far it feels like they always hit me even when I dodge.
It does, but not a lot of them. Blocking/Parrying is a lot more reliable, I've found. But dodging does get a lot better if you get the double dodge upgrade.
You better get health to 20 before you get to the next boss, his electric spam and one hit grab will destroy you. You should get endurance anywhere from 13-15 as well or else you will run out of juice swinging on him when he open for attack.
He has some of the most telegraphed moves in the game, how did he give you trouble?
The pillars block the fire on the overheat
Why would they do that...fire goes around corners...
>Strayan shitposting
Surprise!
Tyran Murderer Dagger is ludo but this guard reduc is to low for a baddie like me.
The hecking From killer, DS slayer dude. I expected Bloodborne at home kind of popularity but this is event worse than i imagined lol
it’s free on gamepass
Sure, 7.8 billion humans using goy pass. Are you stupid or retarded, you fucking crackhead?
But then you have to use the shit xbox controller.
Can you not just add it to your steam library like other games that aren't on steam? If you have a dualshock just use DS4windows it's better than steam anyway.
I tried but the controls were fucked and the left stick didn't move the character.
I'm using my DS4 right now through DS4Windows
>gaypass the land of low quality bootleger shit
No wonder this turd is fucking flopping
It's flopping on gamepass too so it didn't steal any sales from anything people just don't want the game.
i mean yeah. every day one release on gamepass is second hand slop. that’s why people know not to buy them on steam and just play it on gamepass
>goypass
garden gnome
>AND THIS IS THE FROMSOFT KILLER, THE SOULSCLONE THAT IS BETTER THAN EVERY SOUL GAMES Y'ALL WAITTING FOR, LADIES AND GENTLEMENT
D-D-D-DAYUM!!! ITS ALMOST BEATING BRAWLHALLA AND COOKIE CLICKER!!!!!!
>gay chud twink soulsclone
>rank 69
heh a fitting end for fags
>heh a fitting end for fags
Dysentery gets them all in the end.
>gay chud twink
Enough about Dark Souls
Gwyndolin is NOT gay or a chud and I am sick of people trying to say he is.
The irony that transsexuals try to champion this character despite him being forced to dress as a girl because his father believed the moon is feminine.
Anyways, here's the item menu
Damn, Fromsoftware is chudcore.
Is Gwundolly or whatever his name playable?
pfffffffffffffffffff
Why do PC players have such awful taste?
Maybe because most people doesn't like bootleger shit being sold as full AAA price. This trash for some reason is even more expensive than ER at release lol. Delusion morons
No it's not, ER was $70, this is $60.
The lies of flop penis deluxe edition is $70, still unacceptable when a bootleger soulsclone trash being sold as $60. I rather buy 3 copies of MHW instead of this moron bootleger trash
imagine using "A$$" as currency, what do you use as cents? poopies?
oh nonononono
Don’t worry, Lords of the Fallen will take down Fromsoftware. It’s 2014 right?
it'll definitely sell more than Lies of PP, it's #13 on most wishlisted, kinda funny considering people hated the first one.
>Soulsclone announced
>this is it this will be the game will kill DS and Fromsoft
>released
>Flopping all over the place and will be forgotten after 1 week
And the circle continue...
The steampunk asthetic look lame as shit
how come only FROM can do souls games right?
It seems like you just need to add a fuckton of weapons and magic powers but none of them have to work particularly well you just need to have them as options and players will love it
bloodborne has a smaller selection of weapons and is loved by everyone who played, hell sekiro only has one weapon and it won goty, so weapon variety is not it.
heh
Based, good job OP.
Really liking this game but they really needed to put more thought into the boss music. I really like the licensed tracks for the records and also the french music you can hear on the boulevard, but none of that is used for the boss music which has been kind of forgettable so far. The bosses themselves have been memorable enough but I love a good ear worm that elevates a good fight to great and so far haven't really heard any.
considering the record music is technically DJMAX remixes, its strange they didnt bother with boss arrangements
Yeah that would have been cool, then the bosses could drop the records for their theme.
Yeah I get what you mean. The Puppet King later on has something similar that sadly also fades out for the actual theme, but the lead up to the fight and the battle itself is good enough that I couldn't be too disappointed even the music could have propelled it over the top.
I BOUGHT LIES OF P INSTEAD OF ARMORED CORE, DID I DO GOOD BROS?
No but that's because I like mechs more
No Lies of Peepee is doodoo
Some of us want to talk about the game, you're free to go back to 4chan.
I want to talk about the game also. Did you see how badly it's doing on steam and gamepass?
Did you see how I don't care?
No? you care enough to replies to every posts about how your peepee twink flopping all over the place lmao
No since you replied like a woman it makes it look like you care immensely.
>Did you see how badly it's doing on steam and gamepass?
Some of us were busy playing the game instead of trying to play fantasy football with player data like a retard.
That's the best metaphor I've seen yet for player count gays
Alternatively, they sound like a group of fuckwits bitching about who the GOAT rapper is based off album sales
Used to see it a lot on Ganker with gays thinking they're industry mogul hotshots because they look up BoxOffice Mojo and wikipedia
Because I cleared the game you child raping gay.
gays that grew up being like "I'm not going to be into sports like my dad!" only to direct their autism towards even bigger wastes of time like wanking off to the boxoffice draw of a capeshit movie or console sales.
The irony being people who invest themselves in a sports team are willing to admit when their team has been shit for years and years but goddamnit, they just need a chance and maybe they can turn things around this year.
I should know, my dad is a Lions fan.
>I should know, my dad is a Lions fan.
Condolences, to your old man, anon.
Could be worse, my mom's dad is a Knicks fan.
They actually won something once.
So much for your proclaimed "Soul killer" bro, not my fault your moronshit flop though
Yet you are here, posting on 4chin, the irony lol
>get gamepass on my pc to try starfield
>it's boring and uninstall
>see Lies of P and figure I'll try it
>turns out Switch Pro Controllers aren't supported on the xbox app
Fuck that, I'm not using their piece of shit controller. I see people saying to use better joy for cemu but that trash is buggy and won't work for whatever reason.
damn anon was gonna say same boat except the controller shit
starfield felt like i was stuck with a perpetual hangover fever dream. holy shit fuck that game
this was the only boss I cleared on my first attempt. The first shovel puppet I found in the factory was much more difficult.
>shovel puppet
I hated those fuckers, probably my least favorite "strong enemy" to fight.
ywnbj
Be careful.
Nta but that dude's Chinese. I remember this freakout, it was over the US taiwan visit and how the CCP promised they'd totally retaliate if we did and then they did nothing so they came across as completely impotent.
I don't care. It had the desired effect of making the fag leave.
That's 3 threads in a row I've hit him with that webm and his weak ass bails from the thread every single time.
He's buck broken.
>3 threads in a row
you mean you've been seething over a videogame in 3 threads and went as far as inventing yourself a bogeyman? mental illness
ywnbj btw
Nope.
why are judeoangloids so mentally ill?
>looks like Bloodborne
>doesn't have a long ass striding shuffle of a dodge
YOUR GAME IS SHIT
There should have been a fucked up "inside the whale" level.
>Dungeon 3:,
what the fuck is this immersion breaking dog shit
The 3DS remakes were soulless.
fuck me I'm glad I missed those
>King of Puppets has a phase 2
bruh.
There's like 7 bosses in this game with 2 phases, each more cancerous than the last
King of Puppets is easy once you realize you just need to dodge to your right for each one of his attacks and just run away like a coward for the big fire sperg out he does at mid health
Bosses were getting phase 2s as soon as you reached the church area.
I'm surprised this has such a high rating on metacritic. Is it actually good? Souls clones are always garbage.
>81
>high rating
Bruh, even Nioh is 85 or some shit, and that game was trash
Ongbal said it was the best Souls clone he's played and he lives to play Sekiro.
Probably the best "Soulslike"
I'd put it a bit above Surge 2 in terms of quality, though some of that is to taste because I'm not that into sci-fi. Not better than Nioh, though Nioh is already better than Fromsoft so that's a high bar.
I'm not into sci-fi either but The Surge 2 is easily my favourite souls clone so far and better than half of From's attempts for me.
LotF
you like er that much? that er was such a disappointment for me is probably allowing lies of p more room to impress than it would otherwise have.
ER has a lot of builds, and doesn't force player to lel dificulty and Souls games was never hard since you could summoning people
>Lies of P over Nioh 2
Why do you hate fun?
Nioh 2 is really held back by shitty boss design but it is murdered by actually offensive and unpleasant level design. In fact almost everything in Nioh 2 on a design decision scale is dogshit. Diablo loot gear is dogshit. Ability mastery trees are dogshit. I enjoy the actual mechanics of fighting in Nioh 2 but there is nothing worthwhile to fight. It's not even difficult because the difficulty revolves around speed but enemies don't have enough attacks or mix ups to reward adaptability. It becomes flowchart execution with tight timing.
Objectively speaking, Dark Souls 2 is the best of the bunch.
I would also put hellpoint just below the power gap.
8.1 is high rating now?
I wish it was, inflated review scores have gotten obscene. If a game isn't 98% it's shit.
So its shit then because even Nioh 1 (a shit game) is 8.5 on metacritic. Lies of p must be even worsr than nioh 1
What the FUCK do you do against the lightning bitch?
The first boss? Keep your distance, poke him in his windows in phase 1, then spam consumables during phase 2. Throw items are extremely powerful for this sort of game, so them being capped much harder makes sense.
No, not him. THIS bitch.
I beat her, but I don't know how.
what? she isnt that hard, she has a a certain rhythm to her attacks and just blocking is fine
its a shame you dont get her sword and get a dumb chackram for her ergo
>its a shame you dont get her sword and get a dumb chackram for her ergo
Yeah, that was lame.
its like they tease you a whole lot in the marketing with a knight with a badass sword
then when you actually fight her, she finally speaks and shows just how metal as FUCK her sword is, and gets EVEN MORE METAL as fuck in phase 2 only for us NOT to use it
are all of the records original music? some of these are really remarkable. the record 'someday' has to be from somewhere that isn't the game, right?
I think it’s from their other games but I could be wrong
I downloaded this on goypass and didn't really expect to get into it, but it's been pretty fun so far. Just beat the big furnace duder in OP's image too. Advance seems real good because it powers up your arm spells too, you aren't able to use the elemental grinding stones however.
That's what the no-damage run guy used for everything. Makes sense since every boss takes bonus status damage. Also boosts throwables I think.
what's the sekiro version of this?
Divine Dragon?
That fight is easy just tedious.
Looks like a repurposed version of the bots from Nier Automata. They have that exact 360 spin move.
Mist Noble.
This thing feels like Venigni was just trying to see how big a functional robot he could actually make to wow investors. Wish we could ask him about it.
Can I hide the ugly UI?
Yes, there's a hide ui option
But no auto hide like DS2, 3 or ER?
Is there a way to disable the controls that show in the top right? I tried turning off the guide in the HUD menu, but it didn't seem to do anything.
>Is there a way to disable the controls that show in the top right?
Oh that? That's part of the game's tutorial, it goes away on its own after you beat the first boss
my game starts in moonrunes anyone know how to change the language blindly? using gamepuss
>i beat this huge iron robot with an epee
>I beat a dude who just came back from the afterlife through the neck of another dude
>I beat an extradimensional entity with bullets and a saw
>I beat Mew with Pikachu
Makes sense. Beating a robot with an epee isn't believable at all though.
Does anyone know what the fucking plot is beyond P fucking up puppets because his creator told him to?
Basic plot told in the opening cutscene is people dig up moon rocks, use it to power robots, spark big industrial revolution and prosperity raising community from literal backwater village to bustling cosmopolitan city, then shit suddenly goes wrong and the power sources start corrupting the puppets.
Why does the penultimate boss turn into weird monstrous god thing?
Because it's a video game.
Too much moon magic
From what I could gather
>Some weird fucking disease causes humans to get petrified and turn into monsters (with proper cultivation)
>Pupprts also go berserk for related reasons
>Geppetto creates an artificial boy to bring his son back to life
>sends this boy to kill shit and gather the things necessary for revival under the pretense of saving everyone
A portrait of him has its nose grow every time you lie
Does Pinnichio’s nose grow longer in this game or were they too cowardly to embrace the silliness
Game doesn't even have the whale arc.
>game doesn't have whale arc
Who tf do you think bought the game?
Nobody by the looks of it.
There is a portrait in the game that's nose grows as you tell lies, ultimately creating a weapon for you.
That’s so fucking corny it wraps around to being kino
SOVL
Are all the bosses robots?
Probably the best souls game I've played that isn't made by From Soft but I just beat large slow moving lightning robot with two phases and now I'm fighting large slow moving fire robot with two phases and I'm just not feeling it as much.
No, there's non-puppet bosses. In fact the next big one you'll fight is...something else.
not all enemies or bosses are robots. however, i wouldn't get your hopes up for inspired or really cool enemy design. there are cool designs to be sure, but it's not from soft left cool. aesthetically the game isn't as good as their games, but they're the best in the industry at aesthetics so it's not a fair comparison.
where lies of p is best is in its mechanics. the mechanics are an amalgamation of souls that brings all of the best ideas into one game and balances them well.
There are some standout designs still, even if they were just one-offs or rarely used.
>whoah look at this generic resident evil zombie
>standout designs
okay, moron
>where lies of p is best is in its mechanics. the mechanics are an amalgamation of souls that brings all of the best ideas into one game and balances them well.
So a ripoff
but a ripoff that does something from soft has yet to do. i wanted elden ring to have all of the mechanics but it's sorely missing sekiro deflect which lies of p has.
Yes, still look fucking retarded when you are just stand still with no proper feedback
You get pushed back slightly when parrying in Lies of P...
It's literally visible on the first boss fight
Not even Sekiro tier of feedback and it just really fucking minimal, 99% boss clipping through you when blocking, parying you fucking retard
Are you blind?
No, are you? literally the police watch boss when his hand clipping through your fucking ass when you satnd still blocking, parying like a gay, you fucking retarded bitch
Perfect block is already a thing in Elden Ring, I don’t know why they didn’t go all the way and just made it a Sekiro parry. Would actually have made shields worth a damn
The Elden Ring mods that do adjust it to be more like the Sekiro block feel so natural it's like it was always meant to play like that.
I don’t think everything should’ve been deflectable since the enemies of ER are more larger than life than Sekiro’s but shit like the dual wielding banished knight’s anime protagonist combo string is just BEGGING for that big deflect cock
>from soft left cool
from soft level***
This, I'm enjoying the gameplay much more than BB and that's my favorite of the From souls catalog
No there's two enemy times puppets/robot and carcasses/humans
Lucky you. Shit gets real in the next area
the fuck are those moonrune subtitles
The puppet speech is always garbled
if you look close enough you can read it. Says “My flames… o, my king!” Does anyone know if they become readable in NG+? Or do we have to scrub through screenshots? Shits impossible to read in the heat of the moment
Hopefully someone just makes a mod to unscramble it
prob get something or can by going full puppet
I know the watchman Murphy has lines talking about playing with his friends.
>WOOOOOOOO ZANZIBART
the puppet king out right says the person who the player character is based on of
It's just a really fucked English font. You can kind of read it if you're further away from the screen.
>My flames.... O, my king
get glasses bro it's pretty easy to read
>88 jesters

>Every Dex weapon
>None have a hilt comparable to Booster hilt
That fast charge forward charge attack is too fucking good. Dancer Blade charge is so fucking LONG. Guess I just need to combine these bros
Seems like the play is to use the elemental weapons, if the Ongbal video is anything to go by. Those things fucking shred bosses
That ground shovel attack by those green robots is total bullshit. If they managed to knock you down once it's practically an instant kill
There is a grounded dodge in the Sneed vessel if you're so inclined.
According to plebbit the parry window is the opposite of Sekiro. Instead of timing your block for the enemies parry window, your block is a parry window so as long as the enemies attack falls in your window it's a perfect parry.
?
https://www.reddit.com/r/LiesOfP/comments/16mby2u/perfect_block_tip/
Fuck me, that makes total sense. I thought the timing was off but I just wasn't understanding how parry worked at all.
>the key is to hold, not tap
Someone could've told me this before.
DONT:
Talk to 3rd worlders
Engage with 3rd worlders
Acknowledge their bait images
Third worlders cannot afford games. They only play freemium shit and things they can pirate and shit on the rest.
>Nobody will pay $60 for this when you can simply pay a few bucks to rent for a month.
Who is the 3rd worlder here, moron?
I buy DS, Sekiro, ER, MHW, MHRISE at release. Not your moron trash bootleger though, cry about it
So its a flop like every soulsclone, got it
>Playing game
Yeah but you gotta pay full price or its a flop!!
Go buy another Horizon bundled playstation retard
No Horizon is shit, why should i buy it? Same thing as buying a bootleger for $60, i'm not a retard or a moron
>try to parry enemies
>they all have taken the elden ring school of having 80 years of windup and 0.1 seconds of swinging
>doesn't even feel rewarding to parry.
>enemies randomly break out of stun to swing at you
Should I have picked the strength weapon? Did I cane whip myself again?
No, dex weapons are actually pretty good. I've seen some people saying Strength is busted, other people saying Dex is busted, I think it's just a difference in playstyles specific to each person. While pretty basic it did help me to practice parry timing on the punching training dummy at the hotel.
Advance is actually busted, but it's not a starting option
I picked STR and I hate it. I would restart if I weren't so far in. These heavy weapons are even slower than souls UGS, but without any poise or actually good weapon arts to back them up.
You'd think heavy weapons would be good at staggering bosses, but actually they're fucking awful at it because you have to land your slow-ass charged attack or fable arts (with no poise) within an incredibly restrictive stagger window.
Just beat the 4th boss, no summons. The game is good overall but here's what I don't like so far
>Level design is too linear and there's barely any branching paths to explore
>No poise
>Legion arms feel laughably weak
>Fable meter builds up insanely slow and the fable arts themselves are barely even better than a strong attack
>Having to go back to the hotel every time I wanna level up
>Durability running out mid boss fight, forcing you to run away and sharpen
>The window to stagger an enemy is laughably short, especially considering how fucking slow these charged attacks are
It's got some good mechanics but many of them are implemented in really unsatisfying ways.
I disagree with every point you make except
>leveling at hub maiden
The game gives you tools to lengthen the visceral attack opening window and fable arts are meant to be a faster option to trigger them than a charge attack. There is poise and hyper armor.
Its a straight as fuck game with barely anything to explore
So can you kill NPC in this game? it been 4 threads and no one couldn't answer this simple question
>It's a-me, the retard
Can you kill npc or not?
You've got some drool on your chin
So you can't, got it. Shitty soulsclone gonna be shitty soulsclone
>asking if a Soulslike lets you kill NPCs
>brb killing NPCs in Sekiro
Sekiro is soulsclone?
>Unkillable NPCs, Fromsoft: 🙂
>Unkillable NPCs, not-Fromsoft: >:(
How many times have you posted in these threads for a game you haven't played?
But is Sekiro a soulsclone?
Poor little baby just wants to kill those mean ole NPCs
Why are you so jealous of Fromsoft? he didn't say anything about Fromsoft he just say can you kill NPC in lies of pee. Do you got inferiority complex against Fromsoft or something?
Imagine caring this much about killing NPCs
>When BG3 has you so butthurt you troll every new game
What BG3? what are you talking about?
picrel
>moron is too embrassing to say no you can't kill NPC in this bootleger moron trash because it will make his moron overlord losing face
lol
>embrassing
ESL moment
Obviously killing NPCs is a core gameplay mechanic, duh
Aren't you the anti-BG3 shill?
Why the fuck would killing NPCs matter?
Because i want to kill that shitty stupid looking blue fairy with mmo kpoop face
Name one Fromsoftware game that lets you kill your Maiden
All of them. 2 is semi-permanent without manual revival.
What? this isn't From games, its a From clones, why should i care about From game?
Your English is fucking embarrassing, please see yourself out this is a website for civilized humans
Not my fault that this moronshit flop or something, dude
?
Imagine looking at any part of your body and seeing the color of human feces, I almost pity you darkie
What's with all the ESLs?
He can't even name them
>FYWGDYUHASDUD B-B-B-B-BUT FROM GAMES
huh?
>Game is a Soulsclone
>Game has Maiden for leveling
>Can't kill Maiden
What part of this is difficult for you?
Not really, no. At most, you get story deaths.
There are some NPCs that will become hostile under certain circumstances, but no, this isn't like a Souls game in that you can just kill NPCs.
>know nothing about the game
>finally see a screenshot
>it's yet another soulsborne clone
Hey, look it's you
Omoshiroi…
I could have done with slightly lower difficulty and no summon mechanic. The first boss guide I clicked on mentioned summoning as the primary means of beating the bosses so you could attack their backs. The electrified watchman was quite hard.
>The first boss guide I clicked on mentioned summoning as the primary means of beating the bosses so you could attack their backs.
Lmao, who wrote that guide?
Sekiro is easier, but that's mainly because it's not janky
Nothing in this game approaches Sword Saint Isshin, Owl (Father), or the Demon of Hatred, even accounting for jank.
All of their moves are far more telegraphed and easier to counter.
Even if you screw up you have 3 resurrections and I forget how many gourds.
Lies of P is the hardest IMO. IDK how late you are in Lies but nothing feels quite as powerful in Lies as so many things in From games.
If you can parry and if you abuse throwables and Advantage weapons you can kill most bosses in under 90 seconds
IMO summons are a prevalent mechanic in the game because of all the fights where you fight 2 bosses or one with 2 life bars.
Wait, are you talking about elden ring or lies of p? Are there double bosses in this game?
A lot of bosses in this have two life bars. And there is a fight where you are constantly fighting two enemies at once but it's not too bad.
>Summon is a prevalent mechanic
NO. NOT AGAIN. DON"T TURN THIS INTO FUCKING CODE VEIN.
It is definitely not at all like Code Vein. You can summon for bosses and even with Cube buffs they're not as overpowered as Code Vein's allies.
mad clown puppet is insane
That fucker was infuriating, though I think just because I let myself get psyched out by him.
>155 posts
>40 ips for a new game just released
What a flop lmao, seem like none gave a shit about this trash
Low quality bait, not even giving you a (you) for it.
>Demon's Souls (she comes back)
>Can't kill Anastacia, and she's the closest thing to one
>Dark Souls 2 (You can temporarily revive her, but she has the most "permanent" death)
>Dark Souls 3 (She comes back)
>Bloodborne (She comes back)
>Technically Elden Ring, but that's a story thing
Whoops, forgot to reply
Doesn't really count when they revive after rest
I would agree. Only DaS2 has the balls to make it actually detrimental.
Someone who understands character design please explain to me why hideous ugly monsters made by Fromsoft feel so much more soulful than hideous ugly monsters made by other game companies.
the best artists in the industry work at from software and not anywhere else.
giga based westaboo hackizacki
our culture is safe in his delicate nipponese folded steel hands
Because of bias?
What bias? Blue fairy look like a cheap kpoop whore
Yeah you don’t sound biased at all, Mr. Schizo
Seriously, what bias you are talking about? Could you tell me? blue fairy look like some fucking mmo bitch moron face #3225252, could you prove me wrong?
Too obvious, try again without using the same style of talking you've been using in every one of these threads.
I like From girls more than moron face Blue Fairy, is that alright yet?
hahahahaha
How is this kpoop face though?
REPUBRIC O KUREA MNO KPOOPIE FASE
huh?
No, still too obvious, you use the same keywords in all your posts.
Sorry bruh, I glued her eye shut
How is this korea mmo kpop face? Could you tell me?
I know you're Asian
Asian like moron kpoop face though
Rook at me me so good at engrish rike foreignah
>See Lies of P blue fairy with mmo kpop moron face and hair

>vomitting
ESL please
*Vomitting continue because blue fairy look like fucking hideous moron bitch
Vomiting has one 't'
There's a bonus t because he vomits a lot
I did.
I get what you mean. Whoever got tasked with animating this fucker deserves an award.
*preceded not exceeded I’m tired
I just think it's really generic and has silly abstract fantasy crap you find in a lot of Japanese media. I swear I've seen stories where the protagonist must do X to usher in a new or save the existing one numerous times just in the JRPG format. It has to be some kind of cultural touchstone related to the dramatic shift from the Edo Period to the Meiji Restoration and/or the defeat of the Japanese Empire. When you see a similar theme in western work (ending of LotR for example) it's usually a bittersweet goodbye to the world that was where the protagonist is not literally forcing fate.
You could either argue that or that it’s rooted in Shintoism, which is also annoyingly persistent about metaphors about stagnation and progress with water
Eh, it's probably both.
Wasn't Origins the first one to be open world?
That explains why the enemies in Lies of P look so shit, like a bunch of mmo mobs. And the bosses aren't look interesting either
Is this game better than, worse than, equal to, or incomparable to Steelrising?
I kind of liked the overheat management of Steelrising, but I'd say this is better. Not as much getting bogged down in story stuff and NPCs and I'm not big on the historical fiction stuff.
I would say that Balteus post nerf and night watchman without a summon are of similar difficulty.
How much worse does Lies of P get?
So much worse. Don't click if you don't want to be spoiled on this boss even though she's kind of a literal who in the story and is basically just the personal guard of the game's villain
Forgot to say, phase 1 is the easy part. Skip to 4:05 to when it becomes cancer
It gets exponentially worse with each boss fight.
Fuck, did they take it too far in your opinion? There is always some asshole out there doing no hit runs of these games, but I’m not that guy. I’d like to finish it.
No but I tend to be pretty patient with these sorts of things. It's manageable, but you have to accept that you're going to fail a lot.
I don't know if I'm just rusty or what but this game is kicking my ass harder than any from game I've played
>moron
A word I’ve honestly never seen on Ganker. Ever since the Lies of P topics popped up either everyone is using this word or an autistic “Barry” like poster is spending all day in these topics posting “moron”.
I have noticed a worrying trend of these hyper obsessive autists getting more and more bold in their spam on Ganker. I think the Starfield one is still the worst we've had in a long time, maybe that one guy spamming the Tencent stuff in BG3 threads. This one feels more like a small yippy dog, not really that bad.
y u rikey kpoopie face u dum dumb moroniestan?
>How the fuck do groups of people get enough money
The publisher of this game is neowiz the third biggest mmo factory in moronland
>Why does this steampunk action adventure game has Windows 8 Metro UI?
Sadly that's basically every single game on the market.
I AM OK WITH A UI THAT TELLS ME WHAT I WANT TO KNOW WITH LITTLE STYLE
It's the laziest fucking shit bro, it's not like this because it gives you the best quality product, it's like this because some gay cunt can literally draw it in MS paint and a programmer can code it up. There's no need for concept artists and UI artists when everything is just thin bordered see-thru rectangles. It's fucking soulless, nobody is going to remember these games a few years down the line.
What's the last big game that came out that didn't do this slop? KC:D? It's so ubiquitous I'm afraid all the UI designers in the industry have simply been retired or fired.
That's ugly as sin. It's completely overdone and excessive. Looks cheap.
Lords of the Fallen's UI looks all right.
Do you have one of the menus/equipment screen?
It's mostly boxes and item descriptions.
I like how you get expanded descriptions if you meet certain stat requirements.
>I like how you get expanded descriptions if you meet certain stat requirements.
Wait really? Fuck me that sounds neat. The gameplay for this game looks jankier than Lies of P though...I'll try to keep an open mind.
Yeah, you can see here
>The gameplay looks jankier than Lies of P
Oh, it almost certainly will be. From what I've seen, the devs put a bigger focus on exploration than on proper combat. Fortunately, I'm very tolerant of jank.
Blah blah
>not more spinning a character in circle on the same point in space, gotta have them trudge around so you can only awkwardly run in a 3m circle at the tightest
This absolutely killed RE4R for me.
NTA, yes, I'd prefer a UI that isn't fucking ugly because of SOVL.
I gotta say man, I don't remember ocarina of time for its clunky ass item select screen
Something like TW3 shouldn't be on there with games with the same literal empty box templates like Ubisofts
Lies of
>PEE!
(this is not a meme, it's just dumb fun)
I can't believe we just accepted such blatant plagiarism in gaming industry. Every game now is either dark souls or breath of the wild. When did it became socially acceptable to copy things 1 to 1? Just another evidence of decaying postmodern
>When did it became socially acceptable to copy things 1 to 1?
That's basically the history of video games.
Are you jesting? Don't you remember the era of cheerful cereal mascots in every games in late 80 to 1999?
>popular thing gets copied a lot
Welcome to literally every form of media since the dawn of mass produced entertainment. You been living under a rock your entire life, or are you just a child and this is your first attempt at a coherent thought?
Id rather have that the than “original” shit like Forespoken or Immortals of Aveum
At least they are copying good things so there’s a chance the game might have something enjoyable
>When did it became socially acceptable to copy things 1 to 1?
Uh...when did the first Doom clone come out again?
>Roguelikes
>Metroid/Castlevania clones
>I swear to fucking Christ all fighting games are the same with different skins
>Battlefield/Call of Duty
>Thanks to Skyrim 99% of games are open world
>Thanks to Skyrim
I'd argue Asscreed was the one that really started the trend, not Morrowind
Not even Doom, there were fucking Wolf3D clones
pp bros
Is it true that lying affects the ending? give it to me straight
Just follow your heart.
Lie for the best ending.
Lies of P is harder than FROM Souls, but i understand Ganker isn't ready for that conversation yet.
You're not wrong, but it's partly because their are zero gimmick required bosses.
Yeah for sure its flop harder than any From souls kek
How is it that I'm the one that's suppose to have the buyer's remorse and somehow you guys are the biggest gays over this?
>Souls is selling well because of it "lel difficulty"
>This is harder than Souls b-b-b-but why its flop
Ganker developer at work
Dark Souls was actually somewhat groundbreaking with it's difficulty style when it was released, but Lies of P isn't.
filtered
>Just make game lel difficult it will sell bros
Which boss was it? I can probably help you.
>what if Bloodborne but Pinocchio
Sounds unbeliavably stupid. How could a game like this be good?
Are you aware of the Dark Souls trilogy?
>what if you were dead but not really
>link the fire anon, dew eet
1970, 1973
lol
The Knicks of the late 1980s and early 1990s were consistently one of the best teams in the NBA. They won at least 43 games in 11 of 12 years from 1988 to 1999 and even came within one win of a championship in 1994 but the Rockets managed to take it from them.
It's just another steampunk variant with Italian flavour.
It's a neo-classical/world's fair aesthetic.
Never like steampunk so the top one look the best
>here some random glass or cogwheel randomly pooping out
Dex weapons are shit boys.
The katana is probably good.
Yes, it's key to 2 of the 3 endings.
Does the lie and truth system matter? Like is it all or nothing or what?
>get katana
>description makes it sound like it's fashioned after the guntos that IJA officers wore in WW2 and the occupation of Korea
>it's the best dex weapon in the game
What did Neowiz mean by this?
As much as Koreans hate the japs even they can’t deny the superiority of the katana over all other weapons
Can you post the desciption of katana?
A precious sword that was at the Grand Exhibition gallery. They say it was the saber of a commander from a quiet eastern land.
The sea remembers the vow of the warrior. The general who rose up with the dragon to protect the people claimed a lonely victory in dozens of wars.
Sound like it was the description of that korea general dude with his turtle ship who won against the japs and got bettayed and killed by his own people
I really wish bosses had long enough openings for me to land more than two light attacks at most
Sounds like a problem I'm too TECHNIQUE too understand
Enjoy your broken Katana parry
Most of them are literally robots man
The cathedral is so aids it made me stop playing today.
Same.
Same thing happened to me with the Ringed City DLC trash mobs, but the Chapel is fucking worse.
What were your major issues with it? It felt like an easier Sen's Fortress right up until the boss which kicked my shit in for a bit.
Yeah I guess I had just been hoarding throwing weapons because I could take out the spitting fuckers from long range with the buzz saws / pipes and the rest was much more manageable. They're much more fragile than they look.
Eugenie was cute
I think they would have done better making a slightly easier game than fromsoft makes, it might have made the genre more accessible and popular with those who have trouble with souls games. What they made is a game that might be harder and less rewarding than sekiro. I think that’s a bad move.
if a game is hard it is defacto more rewarding to beat it. that's an axiom.
I like the game and I am having fun
>Beat the puppet of the future
>took a few tries but no big deal
>realize you were supposed to drain the sludge before fighting it
>deaths came from getting one shot by stomp into poison damage.
why are they taking inspiration from bad DS2 bosses.
>the lever is hidden behind boxes
>it's another ambush attack, the 27th one this level
Is the katana the best weapon in the game?
SO I just got the sevenfolded japanese steel and I'm wondering; is there a way to reset my weapon upgrades or are there enough of the darkmoons to upgrade this boss weapon as well (can I purchase them)?
I didn't expect a new dex weapon as cool as this... I hate that these games have so much of a "ooo new weapon" thing but there's never really a way to get those limited resource upgrades back.
Is this game harder than Bloodborne?
yeah
People are gonna get pissy, but Bloodborne isn't hard at all if you can parry. The exceptions would be Ebrietas, Martyr, and Rom. I haven't touched the DLC yet, can't comment on that.
The parry window is fucking massive for most parryable bosses and mobs as well.
It's the easiest of the Fromsoftware games I've played by miles and yes, Lies of P is harder.
>I haven't touched the DLC yet, can't comment on that
When people say Bloodborne is hard, they're talking about the DLC.
i would say act 4's boss in lies of p is about as aggressive and difficult as orphan of kos. who is definitely the hardest fight in bb outside of gehrman for me
The Archbishop boss is an intentional "fuck you" to people who butt stab bosses.
Am I the only who thinks he looks like Aldrich?
Orphan has some big parry windows though.
Orphan at least has sound cues. Some of these bosses don't.
There is no "rhythm" and I felt like there wasn't any sound cues for some of the fights either. It was smooth sailing for me up until I reached the church area and then bosses started having second phases & having >5 hit combos. I think the bosses on this are harder by accident on the developer's part than anything.
Why is everyone except FromSoft so bad at making Soulslikes
I assume that gibberish that bosses talk turns into coherent speech on ng+? Like in Nier?
Its literal just gibberish tryhard zinzabert like pls forgive me my king gaydolin, why should you care?
>why should you care?
Because it's always intresting to me how different devs handle this types of stuff.
Maybe it's some specific item. Or maybe it's locked by subsequent playthroughs.
Or having specific stat like in BB
Not sure if it changes to be more legible in some way later, but you can read their dialogue if you squint. Like the big electro-watchman talks about people turning to stone and wanting to play with his friends again.
i played a bit of NG+ so yeah, you definitely see translations on there.
ive been going motive with the starter blade and baton hilt. pretty lit
when do i get another STR hilt because the starter moveset/fable is kinda shit
im at the boss in the factory
You'll get another heavy STR weapon almost immediately after that boss, but it is horrifically slow.
is it the donkeys shit?
that fuckin squirrely fucker Survivor gave me issues only because he wouldn't stop fuckin attacking.
the police baton hilt with the buff up fable has been really good to me so far and hopefully theres just a better blade then
The bone saw is actually pretty great, but they're probably talking about the giant wrench.
hey whatever works. i'm just going for big dick charge up damage with my quartz and all that jazz.
shame the starter fist can't be modified because i prefer that than whatever other shit they gave me
My biggest gripe with the game thus far is this stupid fucking stagger system.
They tied the parying hitbox to character instead of enemies animation i think, which is dumb
Try holding the deflect button slightly longer than you think you need to instead of just tapping it.
kitty
>Going from cat hissing at you, to letting you pet him, to letting you pick him up over the course of the game.
Kino
He doesn't like puppets but you keep becoming more human
How have people beat the game? How long has it been out?
>How long has it been out
Like week ago for people paying 10 bucks more
I hope every game doesn't start doing this. it's bad enough every retard on Youtube gets a early copy so they can tell people what to think of a game before it even releases
t.proud skeptic
Eh, I think the cats kinda out of the bag on this one.
At least in this case I wasn't entirely sure on Lies of P. So it was nice to come here and see a review from someone who had actually finished it and wasn't writing a review for clicks. Them saying they wouldn't play through it a second time made it a pretty easy choice between playing it on Game Pass or Steam.
Some people paid to play it three days early for some reason like me since I got the upgrade for less than the base game off a keyseller..
pill me on the "arcane" shit. theres some electric batons and all that shit. do they fair well?
do you get to shoot projectiles with later weapons/fists?
Andreus is some fucking bullshit. Fuck the mechanics in this game. Sometimes I take first phase to second with 4 heals left, sometimes I just miss my parries and get raped before even using one heal. Sometimes he just opens with his 5 hit combo and I don't read the last two hits in time. I would not recommend this game to anybody. It's like Armored Core but worse.
>It's like Armored Core but worse.
Picked the fuck up, I need some more ball-bustingly hard games.
Armored Core is the best game this year I played it four times in a row and S ranked every mission
Sure but every challenging boss in AC6 left me feeling empty afterwards, not accomplished like the first time overcoming nearly any other difficult From boss. It just felt like I lucked through all the bullshit and finally caught a win. Lies of Piss takes that and amplifies it.
hello secondary
Are there any designs that you thought were cool or coom worthy?
i went with the dodge thing with my quartz, i cant tell if it does anything
Did you fill both slots on that perk? You need to put Quartz into all the slots to get the benefit from each ability.
yeah i did. i didn't realize theres a tab for the different types of ability ups like extra charge damage and shit.
its just two dodges in a row right? no special woosh anime shit?
When you're locked on it lets you side-step into a roll.
thanks anon. cheers.
best fuckin souls knock off on the market. really fun
I am getting mad filtered by the donkey because his huge reach makes my playstyle very difficult.
Since he's a human you can backstab him, it works like NPC invaders in Souls games.
Agreed.
Yeah I just found that out this attempt. It'll make trying to cheese him easier now that I know what to look for.
>get the dagger handle
>now my charge attack isn't painfully slow anymore
nice
What the P stands for?
Plop since the game flop
Peter Pan.
Would unironically enjoy a series of Soulslikes based on Western stories like Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, etcetera. Maybe not Alice in Wonderland because I don't think anyone could beat American McGee for making edgy Alice.
They literally teased wizard of oz at the end
Based. Shame this game probably won't do well enough to get a sequel, but maybe Korea money and whatever deal they took for Game Pass will be enough..
>Korean MMOs
>Video Games
This should be good. Alright Ganker accountants, how much was spent on this game to "break even?"
respawn points are practically next to the bosses
>Dorothy's legion weapon
The ending hints that Wizard of Oz exists in the same world
Close enough?
Okay that's it, I'm gonna finally play through Black Souls 1 and 2 this week.
Porothy
Piss, you’ll learn later, it’s part of the lore
Pinocchio.
Pulgarcito
Parlo
This shit plays like Lords of the Fallen but the animations make it look like Bloodborne. Props to whoever pulled this one over on everyone
>This shit plays like Lords of the Fallen
alright, you haven't played lords of the fallen, that's for damn sure
I did like ten years ago this game is as slow as that at times
It really is not.
I'm not really feeling it. The parry window feels off.
Because the parying frame is actually came from the characters, not the enemies animation unlike Sekiro or other souls games. So its actually real artificial dificult for the sake of lel hard game
lmao what the fuck is this cope
See
well damn if reddit said so
You could just try it in the game like me and it worked lol, shameless artificial difficult lol
>it's artificial difficulty because you have to press the button when you're about to get hit
what
Imagine playing Sekiro or Bloodborne but on a streaming service like Amazon's Luna or OnLive. That's Lies of P.
I literally just press the parry button before I get hit and it works everytime, I have no fucking idea what the hell you're talking about
Surprised there is high amount of moron hate on this board
Why though? Arent moron also western's slaves just like nips?
It's just one guy moronposting in all these threads, he has a very distinct posting style.
also an Aussie
I'm running through the theories on this person's deal
>korean girl broke his heart
>butthurt jap
>sick of kpop threads cluttering Ganker
>was in the military and had a bad experience stationed there
>korean girl broke his heart
If they're anything like my brother's ex, they also will break your bank account. You'll be lucky to come out of a relationship heartbroken.
ACKKK MY PEEPEE
>Even fighting game has more players than Lies of Plop
Its over for soulsclone
should I tell him how irrelevant his country is?
And you don't know how to read or what?
>steam chart most played
No, he might bring a boomerang to a church if you upset him too much.
he might be a chink considering his intense hate for koreans and their colonization of australia
>day 1 of new game OMG its "almost" top chart OMG
>meanwhile look at steam most played
heh
>only the third hit of viktor's red attack gets a *slightly* different timing
This is just plain malicious
I told you about lel artificial difficult man, the attack is not come from the enemies but depend on the character hitbox lol
What should I play if Sekiro is the only soles-like I enjoyed enough to replay a few times? Thymesia?
Thymesia is apparently very short, not much interesting content at all or much depth to its mechanics.
Downloaded it on my xbone but won't have a chance to play for a bit. Temper my expectations, how is it? Is it difficult in a tedious way like how Souls sometimes put a respawn 3 minutes away from a boss fight?
if you like deflection meme, sure
I think most of the respawn points have been pretty lenient in distance to the bosses, with some being right around the corner. Definitely no corpse runs even approaching the same ballpark as, say, the chariot in DS2.
>no "help" button to tell you what anything is
why korea?
Well, this game is a carbon copy bootleg soulsclone, so...
Was Sophia the Blue Fairy's name in the original book?
No and she not a Ranni ripoff with korean mmo face either
>give us beautiful girls
>no, not these beautiful girls
schizo moment
None gave a shit about moron fairy, just look at the amount of fanart lol
She has no name in Collodi's book, she's just called Fairy with Turquoise Hair. So this game is actually more accurate to the book in her appearance than the disney movie.
This electric mace is way too good. Is it a noob trap? Will everything suddenly have 80% electric defense after the 4th area?
I heard that upgrade materials are hard limited, is that true? I havnt spent any yet because my mace is strong enough and I don’t wanna waste them on a weapon I want to replace.
It's more that electricity is only super useful against puppets. You use fire against carcasses and acid against humans
Tomorrow is the day I give up playing Lies of P and move on. Anybody with me?
Wow, didn't actually expect to get an answer. Thanks, will keep going for now.
Much MUCH later in the game, Venigni will tell you to go there for a treasure that he's discovered is in that location. You can access the ladder then
Fun thread guys, thanks for the discussion.
*Flopping my cock on your face
Thank for the flop, dickface
Goodnight to you, moronschizo.
man, is police baton + sawblade the best unga bunga weapon? it's pretty ridiculous str scaling and reach while not actually losing speed from the swing moveset
scaling is attached purely to the handle for weapons, not the blade
I just beat the first boss and got to the hotel. Does the dodge even have i-frames? I can perfect party enemies fairly consistently, but so far it feels like they always hit me even when I dodge.
It does, but not a lot of them. Blocking/Parrying is a lot more reliable, I've found. But dodging does get a lot better if you get the double dodge upgrade.
You better get health to 20 before you get to the next boss, his electric spam and one hit grab will destroy you. You should get endurance anywhere from 13-15 as well or else you will run out of juice swinging on him when he open for attack.
What is the cap on stats? I don’t know if I should put more in or now.
lol what the lie nose meme turns into a quarterstaff
Is it good?
tbh a lot of the weapon damage is pretty balanced so it depends on your taste
Be honest, are you guys using summons? I got tempted by the watcher
