    It's not a a punching move, it's more like a hand-blade.

I straight up have no idea what liquidation is even meant to be. Same with Trailblaze.

Trailblaze: The user attacks suddenly as if leaping out from tall grass. The user's nimble footwork boosts its Speed stat.

It's a meta reference to the random encounters from the older games

So it's just a joke? That's fricking stupid. It doesn't even sound like it uses "grass energy's or anything. It may as well be Astonish. It's just tackle + bush.

It's just smacking the foe with globs of water.

Golisopod is just much cooler than Inteleon.

Aqua Cutter is now a thing(slicing the foe with water), and is better this way since Liquidation always outclassed Razor Shell in every way
Water however lacks a non-signature punching move, and since Liquidation can involve Water engulfed fists, it should be classified as a punching move

The anime can’t decide on how to portray liquidation. It’s either a water based close combat, or a water based slicing attack. It’ll probably stick to the former if it shows up in the current season though, given that aqua cutter is now a thing and the ingame animation definitely supports it being a series of “water punches” or something.

It's only the latter for Golisopod because it's supposed to be a samurai.

Grapploct inconsistently uses it to make a whirlwind of water blades sometimes too, but uses it to punch other times.

So what I'm gathering from this thread is that liquidation is just "walk up to them and hit them with water energy somehow" except not with your tail because that's aqua tail. This is a really really nonspecific attack. It is just water close combat, what the frick.

Well what did you think it was? It's pretty damn clear from the game animation.
The anime is what threw us a curveball with Golisopod's water katana.

I didn't think it was anything besides a shittily named or translated move from gamefreak who apparantly doesn't have enough inspiration or creativity to come up with actual elemental attacks anymore and just makes up random shit to assign a BP and Accuracy to instead.

Yeah, if you had an ounce of critical thinking skills, you'd have googled the move and tried to get the name of the move in the original language. In this case, you'd clearly see the move has nothing to do with fists or punching, thus wouldn't be eligible for a punch-related boost.

Innately no, but if a Pokemon has fists, that's what it uses. Different species perform moves differently.

Aqua break tells you absolutely nothing about what the pokemon is doing to attack. It's about as specific as "Water Hit" or "H2O Attack".
