I thought ER was mid overall but I was legit impressed by how disorienting many of the attack patterns are. I'm a souls veteran and the hard enemies of this game fricked with my head.
Overall I think it's too hard and didn't stay thematically interesting late game. I beat the Fire Giant and just stopped playing
>by far the easiest souls
I don't know how you could say this. I've played the mainline, plus bloodborne recently and they are much easier. Haven't beat Sekiro yet so you got me there
Other than Malenia, I had way more trouble with several bosses in DS3 than any in ER, including but not limited to pontiff, nameless king, dancer, midir, gael, sister fried, but obviously everyone has different difficulties at the games, there are people who says DS1 is way harder then sekiro and I just can't conceive how can someone actually think that
It's too easy to become over leveled in ER if you like exploring every single piece of the map, but I think what makes it harder for some people who played all the other are the delays, the fricking delays are confusing as frick, but once I got margit delays right the game became way easier
I beat every single DS3 boss in 1-5 tries except for sister fried who took me around a dozen attempts.
Several fights in ER have taken me 20-30+ attempts not even exaggerating. I always fight the bosses at whatever level I encounter them though, no diverting my path, no grinding
>Several fights in ER have taken me 20-30+ attempts
which ones? so far some of the minibosses are harder than regular bosses
then again im playing without summons and stack strength with a colossal greatsword

Off the top of my head Caelid Godskin, Crucible Duo, Knight Loretta, Rot lake DragonKin Leonine Misbegotten oddly enough,
>I always fight the bosses at whatever level I encounter them though, no diverting my path, no grinding
that may be why, I was trying to gauge the proper level for the area based on how many hits trash mods could take and use this to guide my directions, I didn't grind souls but I think that because I was exploring every single piece of every area I entered, I was kind of over leveled after half of the game, caelid for example I gave up under level 20 and came back later when I was probably around 50
that just means you are really bad at rhythm games. Elden Ring is more difficult than Sekiro for the vast majority of players unless you grossly overlevel and use some OP shit like arcane build with rivers.
Im on NG+5 in Sekiro and I agree Sekiro is easier.
The thing about Sekiro is all the bosses are expertly crafted around your moves. Every attack has a clear counter or way to evade. While you can't really cheese it (other than firework spam but lets be honest, shitters will run out of fireworks). The game also has a clear philosophy of being aggressive. Most enemies postures will break easily if you master their patterns and get in their face
Elden Ring on the other hand, has terribly lazy boss design. I know it gets memed a lot but the input reading is obnoxious. This is made worse by the fact that bosses can cancel moves to punish you. It just feels cheap. Not to mention all the move kits are just lazy. Shit like AOE and AOE grab attacks are just way too common. I don't like how you have to manipulate input reading to do well in this game
I love Elden Ring but the combat was so shit I bought Sekiro for the 2nd time after being filtered on PS4. On PS4 i got shura ending then gave it away. But after playing Elden Ring I respected the combat and just beat it 4 times in a row with no real frustrations
Sekiro is easier because it puts you on an even field with every boss and gives you the tools to do so. Now if every Sekiro enemy/boss was something out of Ninja Gaiden with an even larger health pool, while moving faster than a picosecond that would be the equivalent of how it is to fight enemies in ER, while still moving at the same speed as DS1.
Bloodborne is easier because the character is more mobile and your attacks come out faster. Honestly the playstyle of bloodborne is much better than souls. Rolling just looks stupid and goofy.
>I beat the Fire Giant and just stopped playing
You should honestly just finish it at that point. There’s only three more bosses (if you’re not doing the flower b***h) and you’d be officially done in half an hour to an hour tops.
I'm just tired of playing it. Working my way through the King's Field series right now. I prefer games that prioritize map design over soulless bethesda worlds
The last three bosses really do feel horribly paced, though.
They’re all fought back to back, and their 2nd phases feel like completely different bosses, so learning them feels frustrating, every death sends you back to phase 1 before you can learn anything else.
the delayed attacks are annoying but this is by far the easiest souls, after playing sekiro you have no right to complain about this one's difficulty
Because the game just fricking blatantly CHEATS you. If you thought the combat is unfair, you are 100% right.
This vid goes in depth into this: https://youtu.be/ZQlOxjCqyAI
tl;dw >Malenia can cancel out of stagger - no other enemy in the game can do that >she can cancel stagger into an animation or attack - again, no enemy does that >her level 3 stagger (from heaviest weapons) has the same stagger duration as level 2 - again, no other enemy has this behavior >she can ignore stance-break events and continue her animation and will get stance-broken only if damage was consistently applied during animation (so that the poise bar wont regenerate) and it ticked after animation was done >she cannot be killed with a riposte in her 1st phase, and cannot be killed by the "first hit" after she recovers from said riposte, it has to be a "normal damage hit"
and about other enemies: >Maliketh is immune to poise damage while in air but you can knock down Radahn, Placidusax and Radagon from the sky with stance break >some enemies gain not only immunity to stance break, but to poise damage altogether, meaning your hits won't reset the timer, so their poise damage will start to regenerate - basically you might think you are getting closer to stagger if you feel desperate but actually it won't change anything >if that wasn't enough, some enemies just gain immunity to damage altogether during some of their attacks (Crucible Knights wing charge, Godskin Apostle jump etc.) >the choice of which attacks are immune, which can be staggered and which can be stance-broken is inconsistent and completely arbitrary (if a "cinematic attack" like Mohg NIHIL NIHIL NIHIL cannot be stance broken, why the most cinematic attack in the game - Elden Beast Elden Ring Flying Attack - can be stance broken?)

kinda bullshit you need to parry bosses multiple times for a riposte, but then again some things would get too easy
crucible knights are not a problem anymore since i discovered the buckler
Yes but the parry isnt worth it in this game besides crucible knight shield to dps constantly cause the critical riposte damage is nerfed , the same as other ways to get criticals and you can get it by stance breaking
>but I was legit impressed by how disorienting many of the attack patterns are.
There is nothing impressive about it. The enemy movesets were literally made so they have so many feints and random bullshit mixed between that they're impossible to read. You could even argue they're badly designed from a developers standpoint.
They're one of the worst design choices ever made and it's so clear that the series will die a slow disgusting death because of them. Japanese people just can't help themselves, all they know is anime.
This board is full of mindbroken degenerates and moronic 13 year olds. Literally not worth the mental energy to get mad at these people because this board is a quarantine zone for the rest of Ganker, including /misc/.
ER is the only soulsgame so far were i actually feel confident going into fights two-handing a wep
its actually rather easy compared to other soulsgames
Just sit on his shield side, only commit to single light attacks so you can avoid his halberd and reorient back to his shield side.
Then in phase 2 with the same strategy, late dodge the jumping shield slam, watch for the delayed shield bash, and the weird long wind up homing bash he has.
Who are your least favorite bosses/enemies in this game? I know most people say the rune bears and the spider b***hes with the guard break but I’d say these frickers are my least favorite. >million health >kills you in 1-2 hits >has strong aeo >pops in at the worst times >spends half the time slithering around the room dodging your attacks >only enemy where locking on hurts you more than helps
Seriously, feels like these things are everywhere and I hate each fight with them
just stick close and run away when it glows, only like 10% of its attacks hit you
i wonder if youre one of those players who leave a bloodstain on any corner with a deathzone underneath
i swear some people who play this game are legit moronic
these guys are pretty horrible
your first time seeing them, you shit your pants cause it’s animations are all crazy, but once you actually learn his moves, he’s one of the most obnoxious enemies ever.
those are really fricking annoying, I hate gigantic bosses that you have to roll clipping inside the fricking enemy, the camera goes completely crazy
I hate this fricking birds due to the camera, if you lock on them you can't fricking reach his head most of the time and the camera fricks you hard, From just can't figure how to fix their fricking shitty camera
>not just throwing six holy water pots at it and watching it die
I agree with you on how God awful they are but I think the x200 times damage to holy that completely rips them a new hole makes up for it.
I only read anything about the game after I finished the first run, I didn't know about this and the apostle/noble weakness to sleeping pot, this two weakness make them so much easier
these guys are pretty horrible

what gave you the impression they said it’a difficult?
it’s just a shit enemy
During my first playthrough, the ulcerated tree spirits were impossible to beat without summoning.
During NG+ I had such OP moves that I played really relaxed and for some reason I managed to perfectly read its attacks and moves, and I could just chip away at him while evading all his attacks without using any of my OP moves.
Those frickers in Caelid mines that shoot homing projectiles. Like what the frick were they thinking >a volley of homing projectiles that can easily bypass corners >can easily just move away from your attacks
About halfway through now and the dragon bosses feel like total trash. Not since something like Capra Demon in Souls1 have I felt a fight was just pure hot trash. As melee I am constantly underneath the dragon, can't see shit except his balls if he had any. Targetting is fricking useless because I have to keep hitting his feet. Like many other bosses he can turn around in a split second and hit you, but it's even more moronic because of his size You can't see what he is doing because you are always underneath him just hitting his legs near his balls. Nothing makes sense about this moronic """"encounter"""", Why doesn't he just fly away anyway? I have fought maybe 3 dragon bosses and they are all reskins of this same dogshit dragon fight.
Elden beast. I've beaten the game 5ish times now with a different build each time and it's pretty fricking obvious that they had no fricking clue how to make a 2nd phase for Radagon so they just slapped some bullshit in that looks "cool" but is a shitty fight by every metric. Atleast Rennala and Rykard are easy as frick and are short fights so even if I don't like them, the "Gimmick over function" that they seemed to use in those fights doesn't overstay their welcome.
Elden beast though is buggy as all hell and have some of the shittiest attack patterns in the game, he pretty much embodies the "enemies just flail forever" meme.
My first and 3rd playthrough the bosses AI broke midway through so he just sat there waiting for me to kill him but in pretty much EVERY fight I've had with him he runs away and shoots his gay magic more than he actually tries to take a swing at me. It has to be a bug, I refuse to belive that anyone at FROM thought it would be a good idea to make a boss that runs away OVER and OVER again with no way for the player to stop the boss no matter what they do. It's not hard, it's just boring and frustrating. Elden Beast should just get deleted from the game since no patch can fix him as long as the devs dont redesign the entire fight.
I don't like Malenia either, but that is because she is hilariously overtuned and is also bugged (animation canceling like she does has to be a fricking bug since no other enemy in the game does it, it also looks weird as frick when she does it) her fight is otherwise tense and I can see how she could be a more fun fight if they just patch her.
>love seeing screenshots, gameplay snippets or listening to soundtracks from the game >have no desire to replay anytime soon this year and maybe even dread going back period
A lot of it was artificial difficulty. I'm decent at games so when I died to a boss it was rarely more than 3 times. My main issue with the game is that a lot of the boss are meant to be killed with certain build which imo is bad game design the game would be way better if you could easily spec in everything. But overall it was easy and boring. Also despite not dying often I found the game very clunky. Like how you have to dodge into the things you want to dodge like projectile or fire giant. If you dodge away it actually hits you. I did every piece of content in my first and only run without a guide except for the npc bullshit. Their quest is my dad works for nintendo kind of bullshit.
I played five times: >Strength >Dex (no bleed) >Int >Faith >Arcane
Besides the non-bleed dex build all of them were rather easy besides the final boss and Malenia for some builds. Never had to put down the game while fighting a boss though.
Right after you start the game? Might as well be, you do no damage and even if you're a dodgemaster who never gets hit it's going to take forever. It's the games way of telling you >this game isn't always designed in such a way that the obstacle in front of you can be conquered right now, go level up and come back
People's failure to understand that comes from a place of profound mental moronation where they think if you're not able to beat a boss at level 1 with fists then either the game is bad or you are. It's neither, sometimes you're just not ready for the challenge life is throwing at you and you need to go acquire the tools to overcome it instead of beating your head against the wall.
you all who play this kind of game for purpose, prize and satisfaction you all waste your life for nothing. nobody give a shiet about you beating this kind of game.
STOP PLAYING GAMES WHERE YOU LOSE TIME
God this game was so sterotypical I didn't even finish it. Once again you have a rot/poison lake level, beat so many things to access the late game area, and then at the end when you thing you're done you get teleported to another dragon area far off in the clouds like almost every other fricking souls game since two.
Man, playing Elden Ring made me realize how much they reused the exact same formula.
when replaying Dark Souls 3, i was unironically shocked how little Health i needed to actually take on and tank multiple hits from lategame and DLC enemies and how many openings and punish opportunities there were on bosses like Gael and Friede
ER is just absurd in comparison
he's just gundyr with a horse, walk lazily to the left and his halberd flys over your head. just have to watch out for the sheild bash and the horse attacks
depends, if you dont play broken builds and without magic/summons the game actually becomes challenging
just 2hand a colossal wep for example (no bullshit step)
I've stomped most of the bosses with pure STR build and a single greatsword. Once you figure out the timings for charged R2 it's over, you can basically stunlock the bosses.
No bleed dex build actually was much harder.
Because I'm a poorgay who could only find a series s, I've already beaten it. And because I'm a dumbgay who finally got a PS5 I'm wondering if I should cop it for that. Are the visuals/framerate/load times better enough to drop 30 bucks on a used copy?
Just return more stronger and better gear ,you and the gays who cried about margitt when the game is openworld to curbstomp this shit sucks ,because your didnt beat the game
Now that the dust has settled... its actually too hard. Souls was hard but always offered a chance to win, even DS2 despawns enemies after a while. Elden Ring is pure anime bullshit attack patterns with trial and error memorization.
>bullshit attack patterns with trial and error memorization
This was always how Dark Souls was described.
ER simply takes it to a new level, otherwise the franchise would grow stale.
>bosses are injected with steroids and given animetard speed buffs >your dude is still stuck with the same slow jank combat and input delay from DS3
They knew the game was unbalanced as frick which is why they gave you 3 dozen cheese tactics to trivialize every encounter.
>waaah you have to use cheese tactics, you can't use souls rolling melee on all the bosses >waaah there's too much souls rolling melee
Listen to yourself.

Sometimes melee works best, sometimes melee doesn't work well at all and you have to use other strategies.
Imagine crying about getting punished for sticking to the exact same playstyle for the entire game.
>Literally impossible
I literally just did this a few hours ago on another NG. I always go after him first because it's fun. Stop being a whiny c**t and beat the game.

Those frickers in Caelid mines that shoot homing projectiles. Like what the frick were they thinking
>a volley of homing projectiles that can easily bypass corners
>can easily just move away from your attacks
That one DOES fly away, though.
Only bullshit thing those guys do is the explosion/geysers they do after half health because it forces me to back off from beating them to a pulp.
>love seeing screenshots, gameplay snippets or listening to soundtracks from the game
>have no desire to replay anytime soon this year and maybe even dread going back period
I've never felt this way about a game before.
Their quest is my dad works for nintendo kind of bullshit.
the franchise has never been easier
yeah if you play a turboautism build
I played five times:
>Strength
>Dex (no bleed)
>Int
>Faith
>Arcane
Besides the non-bleed dex build all of them were rather easy besides the final boss and Malenia for some builds. Never had to put down the game while fighting a boss though.
>croatian peasant spearman against Serbian mounted knight (1345) [colorized]
Little b***h. Die ( in real life)
Right after you start the game? Might as well be, you do no damage and even if you're a dodgemaster who never gets hit it's going to take forever. It's the games way of telling you
>this game isn't always designed in such a way that the obstacle in front of you can be conquered right now, go level up and come back
People's failure to understand that comes from a place of profound mental moronation where they think if you're not able to beat a boss at level 1 with fists then either the game is bad or you are.
STOP PLAYING GAMES WHERE YOU LOSE TIME
You lose time in all games
You lost time writing that post and reading this reply
any games where you win time instead?
I killed him at lvl 12.
Just abuse the horse. It breaks the game.
If you can't beat that enemy by the point in the game that you'd have that gear you're actually just terrible.
I hate Tirkins
oh shi-
I beat him right out the gate naked with my club. if my moronic ass can do it so can anyone else.
he's just gundyr with a horse, walk lazily to the left and his halberd flys over your head. just have to watch out for the sheild bash and the horse attacks
ER bosses are all piss easy
depends, if you dont play broken builds and without magic/summons the game actually becomes challenging
just 2hand a colossal wep for example (no bullshit step)
The DLC had better be good.
ER simply takes it to a new level, otherwise the franchise would grow stale.
>bosses are injected with steroids and given animetard speed buffs
>your dude is still stuck with the same slow jank combat and input delay from DS3
They knew the game was unbalanced as frick which is why they gave you 3 dozen cheese tactics to trivialize every encounter.
>waaaah I want to keep rollgayging
No, not really but that's still what you do for 85% of this piece of shit game.
>waaah you have to use cheese tactics, you can't use souls rolling melee on all the bosses
>waaah there's too much souls rolling melee
Listen to yourself.
Are you baiting or are you seriously defending broken game design?
>if you can't rollgay the game is broken
>if you can rollgay the game is broken
Disingenuous. You know exactly what he's talking about. There's a disconnect between melee combat and other easier strategies. It doesn't meet in the middle.
>There's a disconnect between melee combat and other easier strategies.
Sometimes melee works best, sometimes melee doesn't work well at all and you have to use other strategies.
Imagine crying about getting punished for sticking to the exact same playstyle for the entire game.
no its not ive killed it
What is your favorite weapon type?
Greathammers/colossalhammers
I like big bonk and i cannot lie.
You unga bungas can't deny.
>That when a mob walks in with his itty bitty poise and tiny little sword you just swing!
Spear.
Anything for melee but flails, spears and fists. I need to switch up weapons on each new cycle to keep things fresh.
>Literally impossible
I literally just did this a few hours ago on another NG. I always go after him first because it's fun. Stop being a whiny c**t and beat the game.
Like just sit on the horse and shoot him with magic until he dies loser
What a boring and pussy way to play the game. I bet you summoned for every boss.
just b urself
Everyone beat it they just didn't like it
> th eold way, you can use the new mechanics.
>I have when you Ganker morons say shit like that. It is literally a sub 80IQ opinion
Projection lmao
Holy shit I just witnessed something I shouldn't have, I feel like, motherfricker smashed delete faster than I've ever seen
>Everyone beat it they just didn't like it
Imagine being so deep into your paid ER hate script that you start pretending ER isn't one of the most universally praised games in history.
You’re literally just shit
I hated this Black folk backswings, was pretty god damn ridiculous those backswings hit you for full damage, same shit with the nights calvary.
I already beat ER a couple of times but the crucible knight always catches me off guard.
greatshield and thrusting weapon
this is how you play ER
changed my entire experience of the game
It's very effective but also kinda boring. That said i do frick around with it during invasions sometimes.
Shieldpoking was great fun in the early game, but after a certain point you just need to do a lot more damage.
