I like it, but it's really heavy on dice chucking, especially if you fuck around with missile boats. Salvage rules are great for longer campaigns, which imo is the game at it's best, but single matches are fine too as long as you and your opponent have mutual respect and don't just bring clanners in a railgun mechs for cheese
As a whole? It's in the best place since at least mid 90's. New rulebooks (though basic rules changed very little), new models, even novels - everything sells shockingly well.
Story wise? Meh.
Model wise? Fucking fantastic. We are finally getting plastic vehicles, a Clan aerofighter and IS power armor next year. And a shitload of mechs, naturally.
Classic is as great as always and not really that hard (but very time consuming, best to bring just a handful of mechs), while Alpha Strike allows for quick-ish dynamic games with big armies. It's very simplified and robs many mechs of their individuality, though.
theres an program you can use for tabletop that you can try if you dont want to deal with dice and such
damn that sounds pretty nice, i think will look deeper into it over the weekend, my only real experience so far is mwo and mw5 but this sounds far better

armored warfare vehicle designphilosophy
armor is thickest at the front
for 360 torso to be effective it would need to be armored equally so armor either grows thinner all around or the total weight increases to impossible number
Why did they cover the winch hooks with armor? Seems unnecessary to add weight armoring what is effectively two steel fin with a hole and then leave the winch completely exposed, kind of like the artist doesn't understand basic mechanics. Neat design otherwise.
Anons, im when playing MechWarrior Online, should i make that my Urbie has a couple of AC/2s with 4 small lasers, or should i give it a single AC/20 but have almost no lasers and very little ammo?
Would 2 AC/5s be acceptable if i reduce the quantity of small lasers to like 2?
Should i get rid of the AMS laser system?
I LOVE URBANMECH
Why aren't more mechs equipped with a 360° torso
Idk but they should be, no reason to have the waist and upper torso be locked like that
could be a balancing thing but then again you can cram a AC/20BF in a urbi
Because, for example, a blackjack would need 5 minutes for one rotation.
Why don't more mechs have backward-facing guns controlled by AI for supporting fire while the pilot takes care of the frontward stuff?
guns and ammo is heavy and expensive
They do on the tabletop along with some mechs have 360 rotating arms
how is the tabletop?

Because the shift in weight would make it become unbalanced and fall over.
thats what the gyro is for

why does a mech design for urban enviroments a winch in the first place
For winching, duh!
