>Loses to the player since the beginning of the game
>Still have a lot of confidence and the lose does not seem to affect him
>Lose to Bede once
>Lose all confidence and become depressed for the rest of the game
Was it autism?

Was it autism?
Either that or the accumulation of defeats.
But he really didn't have what it takes given he can't handle not becoming the champ inmediately.
Losing to a childhood friend-turned-rival can be a motivator, definitely more than losing to some butthole. Not to mention his repeated losses to you do eventually start to wear him down.
That's just shows you how he really feels about the player. He doesn't care about your wins because he looks down on you, probably thinking he will eventually surpass the player because of his genes, he is the brother of the champion. When Bede gives Hop the wake-up call, reality starts crashing in.
The MC is having a friendly battle and he's impressed by their progress and they support each other. Bede's battle was in bad faith and he was profusely being insulted and it gave him perspective on just how weak he actually is since his existing frame of reference for "strong" was just the MC and Leon. I get the feeling you're the autistic one if you just equate a loss to a loss without accounting for context.
Bede is a c**t, and it was the last straw.
>lose to your friend who always beats you
>no big deal
>lose to some random butthole who your friend keeps trouncing
>confidence obliterated
Makes sense to me.
Because your a silent protagonist
Bede openly talked shit and hit him where it hurts
>Your making a disgrace out of your brother
Hop took that too personal
Hop knows you're the main character, and that it's therefore literally impossible for him to beat you.
Losing to Bede made him realize he's a shitter even by npc standards.
I always wondered what Hop's relationship with Leon is like
I've always imagined that Leon's family had hop way later so he rarely sees his brother that often and he just clings to his TV persona
at the beginning when Leon showed up he didn't really show any love like an older brother would and it always weirded me out
Leon acts like an older brother if you actually read the dialogue. He just does it while also wearing his public persona because Hop idolizes him. Literally the whole reason Leon makes you a trainer and gives you a recommendation letter is as a gift to Hop so he'll have a friend and rival for his journey and so he doesn't feel bad about leaving you behind.
Sonia and Leon’s mom says that Leon helped take care of Hop, and Hop would watch all of Leon’s battles.
>Barely affected him
>That exact battle is when his personality and outlook take a dramatic shift
Just because he said he's fine doesn't mean he is, he literally goes off to cry afterwards. It's called reading social cues, you fricking autist.
You dumb fricking autist you just tried to shove your headcanon, go actually play the game or reread the dialogue you fricking moron.
>Shoving headcanon
>Dialogue literally follows what was claimed
Sure thing, friend, I'm the one shitting out headcanon.
You are an imbecile
You were always better than him, he kind of expects it. Bede was his first real taste of defeat by some rando. Up until that point, he thought he was keeping up. How could her possibly lose to anyone besides you or his brother?
it's not autism, it's homophobia, he can't stand to loose against a massive homosexual like bede
what do you do when youre better than your friend at something and it starts to affect them?
It wasn't just losing to Bebe. The child abduct victim said that "Hop losing so much/hard makes Leon look week" and that REALLY affects him for some reason. As if Leon has done anything but effortlessly rack up Ws for the past 10 years.
Which... makes no sense either. I dunno if this is a case of something that makes sense for Japan or just bad writing.
Hop legit worships Leon like a god.
Lel he is a typical, textbook accurate depiction of Leontrannies. Weak, miserable, and obsessed.
Bede just says that Leon's brother being so weak makes Leon look weak by association.
It makes no sense to a normal person, but to a stupid kid like Hop, it's enough to get through to him.
This is how it works in the real world
>play with friends
>no one cares just having fun
>go online
>that game you get called a noob and get completely destroyed
