Everytime I go to replay a King's Field I want to do 4 but it's sooooo fucccckkkinnngg slloooooowwwwww so I just play 2 instead. Or Shadow Tower. I think 2 is my favorite. But it's also the first one I played.
>that would completely break combat
If you use 60FPS mod it'll speed up both you and enemies to match, makes it much more tolerable to play through imo
I unironically liked it better when it was in early access
the full game was kind of meh (but still very impressive considering it's mostly solo dev'd)
The release version has only two new zones and they are not great, they are short but have a lot of "secrets", this games need at least double the number of zones and enemies to be an actual good Kingsfield-like game.
I honestly think the game's magic wore off after the first half
up until the vampire castle boss I was fully onboard but jumping back in I felt everything was rushed to shit and the final boss was.....something
just didn't feel very rewarding
I kind of agree with this, I liked the atmosphere and tone a lot during my EA playthrough, the idea of what could come seemed promising but the end results are somewhat mediocre. Still fun overall, and solid for a mostly-solo dev, as you said.
That's very fair. It kinda sucks too, this game was in the perfect place to become one of the greats. Personally, I still love it, but I can see a lot of the flaws people speak to. >not many quests that do anything at all >not much dialogue
Lots of weapons and secrets but not much of the meat that matters to use those weapons and secrets on. It's a cute one-off at least.

All of the new zones are lazy dogshit, the final boss sucks, and all 4 endings suck too. It's decently fun to play through, but basically no matter how you finish it you're going to be left with a bad taste in your mouth when you're done. It was better as an unfinished product with decent endgame zones and some promise than it ended up being with 3 way shittier endgame zones and 4 shitty endings that have nothing to do with the rest of the game.
They also didn't do anything to address the glaring balance issues that were already apparent in EA. Fire and Light were by far the best elements in the game, with DEX and INT being by far the best stats to level. Come full release what did we get? More enemies weak to Fire and Light, more busted Fire DEX weapons, and more busted Light magic. The element system as a whole has basically no reason to exist because everything is weak to Fire. Why the fuck is the final zone of the game populated almost entirely by midgame plant enemies with only a handful of Sucsarians in between?
I still maintain that it's a good game up to the end of Castle Le Fanu, but between the pronoun ragebaiting and the actual content of 1.0 they really fucked up the full release of the game.
Is there any evidence that the dev is planning on fixing any of this stuff? I wouldn’t blame him for not doing it since it’s unlikely that he’ll get more money for these tweaks, but at the very least it’d give him a bit more credibility.
>I wouldn’t blame him for not doing it since it’s unlikely that he’ll get more money for these tweaks

At most, best case scenario, I hope for a DLC with actually interesting exploration and better enemy variety. And a new DLC ending that isn't meta bullshit and actually does anything with the world that it's set up, that'd be nice. Not gonna hold my breath for any meaningful changes to the base game.
>his main fanbase and mental illness mean he can easily just dismiss that as haters and chuds
I have dreams of making a game someday after I wrap up my comp sci degree, so shit like this really makes me scratch my head. How the hell do these madmen form these rabid fanbases in the first place? I mean, I’ll admit— the guy has talent, there’s no doubt about it. But how do they end up in situations where they allow their perceptions of reality to get so twisted by collecting yes-men?

by only talking about shit things you hate and making sure everyone knows you hate it. if it is actually good and people like it then you post about how shit it is twice as hard
that is how Ganker talks about games
>Ganker browsers can only trust things if other people shit on them relentlessly
I hate to admit that I am also wary of games that people do nothing but praise, but this paranoid/skeptical mentality is unhealthy as hell.
By actually talking about the fucking product you dumb mother fucker. Stop making one line OPs with the same fucking image of the dumb NPC over and over.
>Intentionally anger part of his customer base >Said part of customer base decides to be against it >WTF I'm just a poor xem/xir from a poor family why is this happening to me.
Don't really care about the game or the drama but I seriously don't understand why some people nowadays are genuinely surprised that actions have consequences
It's probably different from the devs POV since they put together something that they are confident everyone will love no matter how arrogantly they handle their PR. You've gotta have pretty thick skin to deal with the relentless criticism of the userbase.
Big fucking mistake on his part. If he's arrogant enough to think it doesn't matter he lacks the understanding of human behavior. Which is further evidence he's a novice and that basic lack of understanding will show elsewhere. I love KF but this asshole is radioactive to me and no amount of him shilling this will ever fix that. For this project or any future project he works on I am the demographic targeted but I now won't even give anything he works on a chance. He's so naive to think people work the way he thinks they do and you can stir shit up for attention that has no moral budgeting accountability. This is going to be a very costly mistake for him and I don't see any way he can dig his way out of the hole. Had he stayed quiet and not come out swinging he may have had a future but this will be a lesson to everyone else in how not to pick fights when you don't understand the venn diagram of your audience.
Most if not all of the negative reviews are because of the shitty endings or the weird new additions added to 1.0 like randomly spawning mimics. No one cares about your muh pronouns
regardless of whether or not KF series was, what kind of stupid argument is this? Modern work ethic is to just do enough to get by and it's so pathetic to look at.
Every Lunacid thread has been 500 replies 150 posters. Reminds me of when Signalis came out and a dedicated autist made threads on it for a couple weeks I think.
I like King's Field games, but I never played one. Gameplay videos are great though
No time like the present, play one. Pretty easy to emulate. I wouldn't suggest starting with the first one though, but that's just me. I think it hadn't really found it's footing until 2.

>Let's discuss >gets surprised when people are actually discussing the game
Why do you even enter on this threads to point out the obvious?
I've only put maybe three hours into Dread Delusion and I'm liking what I've played so far. Combat is once again kind of a weak point but that seems to be a staple of the genre.
I'm more excited for Monomyth though because I like the feel of subterranean exploration in these kinds of games.
Describe the gameplay elements that define a King's Field game - the mechanis, that make King's Field unique.
Then compare your description with Lunacid.
The game is first about exploration, the combat is totally secondary, yet, King's Field focus in a more realistic combat system, fightning with armor and heavy weaponry is slow as fuck, you can die with one single mistake and its more about position and openings than just a number check.
Blessed Wind is completely broken, and thats a good thing
Where the fuck do I get a holy weapon, for the enemies who dont take physical damage? I have 5 fucking dark ones
Are you shitting me? You found the best physical sword that but wasn't able to find the Vampire Hunter Sword that is probably the best Holy weapon on this game?
what's wild is i've only encountered 2 weapons that can even be upgraded through that. i thought i was in need of an NPC to make me upgrade because it never worked
Are the caster classes a trap or do they just have a rough start? I'm not that far in, but I barely do any damage with anything but my spells and I can barely cast any spells due to how limited mana is. My progress is fucking glacial, because I need to kite enemies for like 5 fucking minutes to kill them.
The MP regeneration is so insane you literally spam everything into the ground
You can have 3 fairies with you at all times and they will just rape dungeons raw
Why would i bother with items when i have literally infinite mana that restores within 2 seconds from zero?
You just can't match this with potions. Your sustainability becomes completely broken.
I *think* you have to try to play with max lunacy in order to make it work well enough, so caster builds basically become glass cannon builds (if the damage boost from lunacy is good enough to warrant taking harder hits).
Just buy a crossbow until you can murder the fuck out of things with spells. Ranged weapons have infinite ammo and even with pathetic dex and a 20/30 speed you can just kite enemies and murder the shit out of anything. You do need 100 resistance for mana regen but I mostly found that you can get by with just the potions since they're infinite stock and easy to craft and max your bar. You end up finding so many ocean flasks that give you +40 max mana from just playing the game that it doesn't super matter how much int you have.
It's better to mix casting with ranged or melee, pure caster is a pain at the start. There are pretty powerful spells in the game, but getting them is kinda tricky.
I swallowed this game in a single day, kinda cool, but too barebones. Demi a cute. Recently played M&M X, which was surpisingly okay, the bard's tale IV - very very mediocre, operencia - pretty solid, replayed both grimrocks, and I'm still craving more. Recommend me anything less obvious worth playing please, I need more...
I feel your pain, anon. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to find another game that scratches the same itch, because I sure as hell haven't found one yet either.

Prequel is still a thing? I'm surprised. I dipped because it seemed like Kaz was turning into a grifter and that one autist spamming commissions of his OC fucking her.
The best games I've found for that dungeon exploration feel are Xanadu Next, Dark Souls 1, and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (but only Bitterblack Isle, the rest of the game has a different vibe)
this is what kills it for me, why even bother with combat if it's going to be the most bare minimum shit physically possible? can you even block attacks?
hard to come from games like ULTRAKILL where I'm flying around an arena at mach jesus using 4 different guns and shooting coins out of the sky, and then this where I think the most complicated combat is backpedaling and swinging your weapon...
You can block. It differs by weapon but almost all of them just make it so the hit does half damage. However if you put any points in speed and dex then you'll quickly reach zoomer shooter tier combat speeds while the enemies are still built around King's Field speeds
I don't get why people are calling this kingsfield inspired when the only gameplay mechanics they seem to have really taken from it was first person perspective and dreadful combat.
So for King's Field I hear the first game released in NA was actually the second game, correct?
Should I start with that or is there a reason/translation for the first game?
I already have Shadow Tower downloaded and a translated version of Shadow Tower Abyss waiting in the wings.
How does the game world feel in these? My favorite part about games like Ultima Underworld and such was the feeling of being alone exploring these oft forgotten places while occasionally finding some sort of life whether it be singular or a small village.
Any games that excel at that?
>My favorite part about games like Ultima Underworld and such was the feeling of being alone exploring these oft forgotten places while occasionally finding some sort of life whether it be singular or a small village.
I think you'll enjoy the KF games then. You're right about KF1. Personally I think the first one was a bit too dull and would tell you to start with 2 (1 in NA) but try 1 anyway you might like it
Each kings field game iterated on the previous. There is no reason to play kings field one when you could play two, no reason to play two if you can play three, no reason to play three if you can play four.
Each one is an objectively better experience than the last as they flesh out mechanics and improve on the formula/experience. I can understand returning to previous entries purely for nostalgia but I could never in good conscious recommend a previous game over a more newer entry because they are just worse experiences overall. Unless you REALLY care about the "story" of kings field you should just play the ancient city.
Playing through this game and I was wondering if you guys know any other decent recently released King's Field clones? Preferably with a dark atmosphere but I don't mind if the game tries to be cutesy. Hard to find some since "dungeon crawler" can be a pretty broad term.
Really like how simple Lunacid is and being able to just chill. Just me and the urge to keep going down and explore.
I've never played a kings field or shadow tower game but I've liked this one so far. How are those games these days if you dont have any nostalgia for them? I fairly "resilient" towards old game jank/clunk/whatever.
Also someone in a previous thread mentioned sword of moonlight maps, is there any suggestions towards good maps for that?
I played every King's Field game and Shadow Tower PSX (haven't played Abyss yet) in a row for the first time just earlier this year and I thought they were great. I am maybe more than just fairly resilient to old game jank though, they are very slow games that take some getting used to.
I dont think I'm interested in playing all of them, just from a time investment side. From what I've gathered, KF4 and ST:A are prob going to be the two I try out.
You know, I wish there were more environmental hazards in the games that served as puzzles to overcome. The only true danger is accidentally falling off a ledge into the void because the enemies are not remotely dangerous.
Yes, overall it feels very weird. Part of the appeal of Kings Field was that you could just fucking die to traps all over the place almost instantly so you had to legitimately be careful. All of that is gone from Lunacid. You just mindlessly circlestrafe enemies and dodge their incredibly telegraphed short-ranged low-damage attacks.
this is what kills it for me, why even bother with combat if it's going to be the most bare minimum shit physically possible? can you even block attacks?
hard to come from games like ULTRAKILL where I'm flying around an arena at mach jesus using 4 different guns and shooting coins out of the sky, and then this where I think the most complicated combat is backpedaling and swinging your weapon...
It's okay, but not great. Definitely the weakest of the bunch. Quite interesting magic system. Level design and atmosphere are subpar. Still worth playing if you're in the mood for more kf, as there aren't many games like it.
It's unfinished, short and it was a launch title for the PS2 so they had no clue what they were doing. It's a 5/10 at best. Still way better than Lunacid though, which is just dogshit.
>manage to find the fucking chasm >find some invisible floor >for some reason they are slippery so if you don't step perfectly you fall
someone needs to die in a real cruel way.
Go fucking play ARX FATALIS right now!
Don't waste your time on this piece of shit wanna be. Play a real game. And only costs a third of what LunaShit is selling.
just made it to the Forlorn Arena, doing some cleanup and what not before the final stretch. i haven't found the warp spot just beneath Hollow Basin and Yosei Forest. how do i find it?
you did all that without finding that place?
hug the wall in the sanguine sea, you'll find it
you can also go back and romp around in the temple of silence, it has an entrance there too (sewer tunnels)
yeah. i'm not very observant of really obvious stuff apparently. i only now just found the upper part of Yosei Forest and got the skull. no idea what to do with it
turns out i did go there very briefly but was afraid of going too far into something *else* when my obj at the time was the castle. just found best girl
I think he just made the thing by the door look way too much like a key slot, if it looked more like a dish or a jar or some other kind of fluid receptacle it would probably not be too hard to figure out
All he had to do is have some blood on the door. How the fuck did anyone open the door before? Did they use a syringe do inject the blood into "not a key slot"?
>got all spells today >and all weapons short of Limbo/Scythe
Jesus christ that was torture, 80% of the equipment in this game is either behind a hidden wall, a 5% drop from an enemy that rarely shows up, or requires a completely inane set of steps that don't get hinted at in-game >the message on the white vhs
Kira made the game bad on purpose
It's also fun when you find out the game doesn't pause while you're in your menu looking at something you just picked up. How long had it been since my last save? How far had I walked... How did I even get here? Who knows... DONE with this shit.
Wait until you find out you can be killed during loading screens
the white vhs told me that this game's story was going to be on par with the witness
it was actually worse by the end, what utter dogshit, but hey at least it was fun to explore
>at least it was fun to explore
Idk there's much better games for that (a few of us listed them off earlier for another anon). The exploration feels kinda empty in this game since the levels are fuckhuge, the enemies are piss easy once you level up, and the majority of the stuff you're looking for is hidden behind yet another secret wall
Dying during loading is baby stuff. Try dying during cutscenes! I died to cursed knight boss while his grab animation was playing and Demi showed up saying I am not alone.
I agree with the dude, I just don't agree with how he went about it. Yea. It sucks they shoved pronouns into Starfield for no reason. BUT WHAT'S WORSE
is that they made the first Black guy you meet in the game, Barrett, Gay for absolutely no reason. I kinda liked him. He's a cool dude. Then you find out he had or has a husband. ... WHY!? What purpose did this serve?
That also reminds me. The music kinda sucks. Some of it's not too bad, but what's there over all isn't very good. I feel like a kid fucking around with a DAW could have made better music.
It’s definitely passable, IMO. None of it is “bad,” from what I’ve heard so far. The real problem is that the fucking track name + the arrogant, retard dev’s name show up for absolutely no fucking reason and leave a bad impression on the audience.
I swear, for all the decent things this moron did with this game he also had to go add something absolutely tasteless, as if to spit in the audience’s face for accidentally enjoying the game.
i've never played KF, what are the attributes of a "kingsfield-like"? only interested in gameplay-related shit, not the visual aesthetic or whatever homages it might have

Just out of curiosity, since I fucking died while climbing down the roots anyway and decided to stop playing for a bit, can someone tell me if jumping off of the highest peak of the forest (where the diary entry lamenting climbing so high only to reach a dead end) leads you to a new zone or something? Or does it just kill you?
Kills you. You have to tensely go back down, just as tensely as you went up. Take it slow, poke with ranged if you have it, or do a scab run for everything.
There are only two drop down areas I remember that look like kill zones but aren't.
Here's my useless opinion.
Completed the game to (almost) 100% on deck (ending E is borked on it). I really liked the game but I have an issue with overall tone. It advertised itself on steam as (Deep) Dark Fantasy but Deviantart NPCs and bootleg "hopes ans dreams" boss moment soured me a bit on it. Most of the secrets were fun to look for, even if a lot of them were red herrings or just fuel for DLC.
Opening doors with blood is something I had to look up, since I don't think anything in the game even hints that it would work. Plants had blood around them and you get a diary entry that tells you what to do. Red door had nothing of sorts.
Most of the music was good, even if I hated the library themes. But what is a real shame is dev sabotaging all discussions by the whole pronouns thing. It was one thing to add them. It was completely another to also brag how you do it just to piss people off. And now all sides are rightfully pissed.
refunded in ea when I realized the dev was a troon. looks cool at surface level but is aesthetically inconsistent. just more trooncore shit. like spooky's jump scare mansion
>aesthetically inconsistent
This is actually not a bad way to describe it. The art style is very nice but the game is all over the place in terms of the actual tone, and I’m not really even sure why.
The first Shadow Tower had cookie-cutter “water zone,” “lava zone,” “crypt zone” etc. but it never felt aesthetically inconsistent the way it does in this game.
I honestly didn't play enough to compare stages and level design, what I meant more so is the retro gimmick paired with textures of varying resolutions/hires textures. the NPCs also look insanely out of place to me.
NPCs for sure seem out of place, especially if the game was meant to have a truly dark tone. It’s far too lighthearted for anything like that. That might be what’s really making the game feel jarring to me.
>recently found out Tomato played this hence the sudden burst in popularity
Literally carried by pozzed streamerfags
Man a shame I genuinely enjoyed his content too looks like that another permadrop for me
Enjoy your troon echo chamber
He's part of the Criken crew was low-key Demotier for the most part
Should of figured the poz trickled down to others around that group eventually, fucking gross
I have no idea what the dev was thinking making the player significantly faster than enemies, along with no stamina system to make it so I couldn't weave in and out easily. Half the challenge of KF is sprinting just enough to have a mostly full bar to attack and then backing up before you get hit.
Anyone else just have it really sink in how useless modern YouTube really is?
Every single quality creator I followed quit and left, turned into a Gollum like Iddubbz, or turned into a clickbait grifter. Everythings ad loaded garbage, all the ads I do get are for very clear scams, etc.
we've noticed since 2010 or so when people began to make some serious money off youtube.
rip animators they couldn't compete with homosexual streamers and their shit reaction content or stolen content at that.
There's 3 new zones. 1 of them is after the castle boss, and the other 2 split off from that one.
Rat King is nothing. I think it's just a reference to another game they made.
And there hasn't really been anything else added to older zones. You can kill Jotunn and Death now, but both of them require a specific weapon that you can't get either of until the end of the game anyway.
There's still only the two, the black one and the white one. Watching the white one is required for one of the optional endings, but I've heard it's bugged if you did it in early access and you need to use a save editor to fix it. I dunno the details exactly since I made a new save for 1.0
Finished the game yesterday.
Was ok, I'll admit I edited my save to bump INT to high levels so I could kill the final boss, since speccing into STR was apparently a dead end and the game does not support a melee soulslike boss like Sucsarius in an engaging way. His regeneration rate was bullshit too, and I refuse to grind in a single-player game.
Final boss companionship encore came out of nowhere, and the endings were all 2deep4u bullshit, I agree with other anons.
Overall I very much enjoyed early to mid game, where paths start to open up, things are still very much spooky and atmospherical. I really liked Prison and then all of a sudden you start finding a steep curve in enemy powerlevel if you arent playing ranged or magic. The feel of early game slow paced combat is replaced by fast attacking enemies and you end up playing with high movement and jump height to avoid attacks, which turns the game into a weird HEXEN like without the good ranged options.
Uncanny atmosphere and exploration are top notch, combat is KF-like and adequate up until the last parts, where it turns into nonsense. I wasn't to keen on the obtrusive secret chase and the on the nose easter eggs. Felt too fanservicey at parts.
I feel like the creator is a bit up its own ass and is trying to be artsy fartsy for the sake of it. Probably has a discord cult. Demi a cute.
Is Sucsarius really THAT bad with melee? I just spammed Ice Tear and killed him in like 2 minutes but I've seen multiple people claim 15+ minutes of whacking him with melee. I know melee is dogshit in this game but surely it's not that bad, right?
It's shite mate, its missing an entire weight system and armor system to be at least interesting, time to play King's Field IV again.
Everytime I go to replay a King's Field I want to do 4 but it's sooooo fucccckkkinnngg slloooooowwwwww so I just play 2 instead. Or Shadow Tower. I think 2 is my favorite. But it's also the first one I played.
Just use cheats (that works as mods) that makes you move faster, turn faster and run faster.
>move faster, turn faster and run faster
that would completely break combat. Might as well turn on god mode at this point.
>that would completely break combat
If you use 60FPS mod it'll speed up both you and enemies to match, makes it much more tolerable to play through imo

Based and true. It seems like the dev has a cult following for himself so he genuinely let grandiosity get the better of his rational judgement.
Too bad.
>still very positive
you're not as big of a deal as you think
Most if not all of the negative reviews are because of the shitty endings or the weird new additions added to 1.0 like randomly spawning mimics. No one cares about your muh pronouns
>The originals were shit so mine needs to be shit
regardless of whether or not KF series was, what kind of stupid argument is this? Modern work ethic is to just do enough to get by and it's so pathetic to look at.
>please note, very poor steam reviews
????
read better anon-kun
Tranny game, also typical unity asset flip shovelware
staring at a random tree from a very specific direction for 15 seconds to get an UWU message is not what i would consider a good secret
I like King's Field games, but I never played one. Gameplay videos are great though
game would be better with infinite i-frame dodgerolls that consume stamina, more katanas and more cut content
>Replies: 13
>Posters: 8
Every Lunacid thread has been 500 replies 150 posters. Reminds me of when Signalis came out and a dedicated autist made threads on it for a couple weeks I think.
No time like the present, play one. Pretty easy to emulate. I wouldn't suggest starting with the first one though, but that's just me. I think it hadn't really found it's footing until 2.
>Let's discuss
>gets surprised when people are actually discussing the game
Why do you even enter on this threads to point out the obvious?
I really have to wonder what the fuck he meant by this, and what ratio of posters to posts he's looking for.
Here's a new poster count for you.
>Let's discuss t he tranny game that has pronouns added to just cause controversery cause the game is boring crap
no thanks
Dread Delusion is the better kflike and it's not even out yet
I've only put maybe three hours into Dread Delusion and I'm liking what I've played so far. Combat is once again kind of a weak point but that seems to be a staple of the genre.
I'm more excited for Monomyth though because I like the feel of subterranean exploration in these kinds of games.
Describe the gameplay elements that define a King's Field game - the mechanis, that make King's Field unique.
Then compare your description with Lunacid.
Lunacid has nothing to do with King's Field.
>the combat is bad on purpose because it’s a homage to Kings Field!
King's Field has good combat.
Lunacid has nothing to do with KF in terms of gameplay.
no it doesn't , its literally the same
King's Field combat is designed around the slow turn speed -
You can turn 360° in Lunacid in 1 second.
It's *NOT* the same.
This, Lunacid combat is so braindead, King's field slow combat almost works as a turn-base RPG in 3D.
That doesn't make it good. The swiftness of Lunacid merely highlights the pitfalls of King's Field combat. No game in this genre has nailed it.
The game is first about exploration, the combat is totally secondary, yet, King's Field focus in a more realistic combat system, fightning with armor and heavy weaponry is slow as fuck, you can die with one single mistake and its more about position and openings than just a number check.
ok fine fuck ill pirate it. someone drop the link
Just use steam unlocked

Blessed Wind is completely broken, and thats a good thing
Where the fuck do I get a holy weapon, for the enemies who dont take physical damage? I have 5 fucking dark ones
have you considered buying the damn thing from a vendor and upgrading it?
the rapier upgrades into a holy weapon
Are you shitting me? You found the best physical sword that but wasn't able to find the Vampire Hunter Sword that is probably the best Holy weapon on this game?
one of the earliest possible weapons in the game is a light one once upgraded
how do you upgrade weapons?
oil pool, wings rest
what's wild is i've only encountered 2 weapons that can even be upgraded through that. i thought i was in need of an NPC to make me upgrade because it never worked
there's quite a few but it's not every weapon. just check for the weapon xp bar on the weapon itself.
>only putting points into speed and dexterity
Will being able to jump really high make the exploration as fun as I think it will?
I just played King's Field 4 instead.
Was bretty gud.
based, play 3 and shadow tower and shadow tower 2
Are the caster classes a trap or do they just have a rough start? I'm not that far in, but I barely do any damage with anything but my spells and I can barely cast any spells due to how limited mana is. My progress is fucking glacial, because I need to kite enemies for like 5 fucking minutes to kill them.
you need 100 resistance for mana regen
no, i'm not joking, the game is that retarded
Res is a waste of skill points, even for int characters. Just use potions
The MP regeneration is so insane you literally spam everything into the ground
You can have 3 fairies with you at all times and they will just rape dungeons raw
You can just use potions, they're cheap
There are pretty powerful spells in the game, but getting them is kinda tricky.
casters are literally OP you fuckin weak baby
I swallowed this game in a single day, kinda cool, but too barebones. Demi a cute. Recently played M&M X, which was surpisingly okay, the bard's tale IV - very very mediocre, operencia - pretty solid, replayed both grimrocks, and I'm still craving more. Recommend me anything less obvious worth playing please, I need more...
If you haven't played Arx Fatalis yet, then check it out.
I wish I could replay arx fatalis for the first time. Nothing I listed came close to that experience.
I feel your pain, anon. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to find another game that scratches the same itch, because I sure as hell haven't found one yet either.
Play the Dungeon Master games if you like Grimrock. They're the games Grimrock took inspiration from more than any other.
>Katia has been on that rock since october 2019
It's literally turning into another Berserk ship.
You can block. It differs by weapon but almost all of them just make it so the hit does half damage. However if you put any points in speed and dex then you'll quickly reach zoomer shooter tier combat speeds while the enemies are still built around King's Field speeds
Lords of Xulima

The hentai is so good.
I want to see her beaten
bard's tale IV is great, did you play on nursery rhyme or what?
stupid cat, show me your pineapple trick.
I don't get why people are calling this kingsfield inspired when the only gameplay mechanics they seem to have really taken from it was first person perspective and dreadful combat.
Troonacid
its decent so far, i appreciate it
So for King's Field I hear the first game released in NA was actually the second game, correct?
Yes, start with the second game. KF1, the JP only game, is kusoge.
Pick str/int/dex and stick with it or wonder why you need to click so much to kill anything let alone the bosses
Actually the best bosskilling tool in the game is casting summon fairy three times.
I completed the game, it was OK.
Now post the god damn porn, r34 is really dry for this one.
why do all white developers make games with anime girls in it?
I will unironically buy it if the troon removes pronoun selection from the game. But since he won't I guess that means he'll never get my money.
Legend of Grimrock 1 and 2, but they are less Kings Field. Really good for the dungeon delving vibe though.
Where the fuck is Monomyth, I'm following this game for like 3 years and it seems that it's nowhere close to completion
i accidentally hit the blue dragon in the prison with my wand, did i fuck anything up in doing so?
No. He's just a dude. Come back later when you have an animal-speaking-ring.
She didn't say that
How does Eternal Ring compare to King's Field and Shadow Tower? Seems like it's basically a KF game.
It's okay, but not great. Definitely the weakest of the bunch. Quite interesting magic system. Level design and atmosphere are subpar. Still worth playing if you're in the mood for more kf, as there aren't many games like it.
It was alright. Most modern of the bunch.
It's unfinished, short and it was a launch title for the PS2 so they had no clue what they were doing. It's a 5/10 at best. Still way better than Lunacid though, which is just dogshit.

NTA but if you enjoy dungeon crawlers its a must try. was fun for me as an rpg fag because it has a lot of rpg elements too
IT WAS ALL A DREAM
just made it to the Forlorn Arena, doing some cleanup and what not before the final stretch. i haven't found the warp spot just beneath Hollow Basin and Yosei Forest. how do i find it?
you did all that without finding that place?
hug the wall in the sanguine sea, you'll find it
you can also go back and romp around in the temple of silence, it has an entrance there too (sewer tunnels)
yeah. i'm not very observant of really obvious stuff apparently. i only now just found the upper part of Yosei Forest and got the skull. no idea what to do with it
skull can be given to green girl in yosei
turns out i did go there very briefly but was afraid of going too far into something *else* when my obj at the time was the castle. just found best girl
where's the save crystal in the sanguine sea?
Just go into the castle or the ancient tombs, there's one right by the entrance of both
there is none
doesnt really need one
there isn't one. closest one is the one at the castle
how is this king's field like? kings field didn't have this shitty anime aesthetic

Literally every person I know who played this game had to ask me for help with getting into Castle le Fanu
Why'd he make it so fucking obtuse
I think he just made the thing by the door look way too much like a key slot, if it looked more like a dish or a jar or some other kind of fluid receptacle it would probably not be too hard to figure out
I mean literally before that is the forest where you also have to use blood on stuff
In comparison to Myst,,,
All he had to do is have some blood on the door. How the fuck did anyone open the door before? Did they use a syringe do inject the blood into "not a key slot"?
It's a vampire castle. I don't understand how people had problems with this.
Does it say anywhere that it is a vampire castle before you open it?
On a sign directly next to where you need to put blood in.
Doesnt it just say "to livestock cells" or something?
I could've sworn it said something more blatant but yes it does just say cattle cells. My bad.
quickstride was nerfed and so was my desire to play it
>got all spells today
>and all weapons short of Limbo/Scythe
Jesus christ that was torture, 80% of the equipment in this game is either behind a hidden wall, a 5% drop from an enemy that rarely shows up, or requires a completely inane set of steps that don't get hinted at in-game
>the message on the white vhs
Kira made the game bad on purpose
It's also fun when you find out the game doesn't pause while you're in your menu looking at something you just picked up. How long had it been since my last save? How far had I walked... How did I even get here? Who knows... DONE with this shit.
Wait until you find out you can be killed during loading screens
>at least it was fun to explore
Idk there's much better games for that (a few of us listed them off earlier for another anon). The exploration feels kinda empty in this game since the levels are fuckhuge, the enemies are piss easy once you level up, and the majority of the stuff you're looking for is hidden behind yet another secret wall
>Wait until you find out you can be killed during loading screens
Oh hell nah...
Dying during loading is baby stuff. Try dying during cutscenes! I died to cursed knight boss while his grab animation was playing and Demi showed up saying I am not alone.
the white vhs told me that this game's story was going to be on par with the witness
it was actually worse by the end, what utter dogshit, but hey at least it was fun to explore
>but hey at least it was fun to explore
It's really not that much fun though.
>but hey at least it was fun to explore
it's so fucking shallow and boring compared to any real dungeon crawler. go play king's field.
muh real dungeon crawla
Troons shill a game
mfw pronouns
it looks like that soijak
I'd shop him to look like this dude if I could be bothered
I swear, for all the decent things this moron did with this game he also had to go add something absolutely tasteless, as if to spit in the audience’s face for accidentally enjoying the game.
>had to go add something absolutely tasteless, as if to spit in the audience’s face for accidentally enjoying the game.
Yea. Hard agree.
>music bad

i've never played KF, what are the attributes of a "kingsfield-like"? only interested in gameplay-related shit, not the visual aesthetic or whatever homages it might have
it's from software so it's a super janky first person dungeon crawler
Like ultima underworld but with less world interaction and more rigid solutions
dev isn't brave enough to actually let you do it, too bad

In case you were wondering what the jest of this game is. It's basically this.
DEATH APPROACHES
Its made by an tranni.
Thank you, discovering that for myself would have really, REALLY soured any enjoyment I’ve been having so far.

I have no idea who or what the fuck you're talking about.
>Should of
I have no idea what the dev was thinking making the player significantly faster than enemies, along with no stamina system to make it so I couldn't weave in and out easily. Half the challenge of KF is sprinting just enough to have a mostly full bar to attack and then backing up before you get hit.

At this point this term is a clickbait
Anyone else just have it really sink in how useless modern YouTube really is?
Every single quality creator I followed quit and left, turned into a Gollum like Iddubbz, or turned into a clickbait grifter. Everythings ad loaded garbage, all the ads I do get are for very clear scams, etc.
we've noticed since 2010 or so when people began to make some serious money off youtube.
rip animators they couldn't compete with homosexual streamers and their shit reaction content or stolen content at that.
I finished everything(?) before the update had dropped. Where should I explore to find the new stuff?
1. Behind castle boss, presumably?
2. Skelly says something about rat king, where might I find that guy?
3. Anything else?
There's 3 new zones. 1 of them is after the castle boss, and the other 2 split off from that one.
Rat King is nothing. I think it's just a reference to another game they made.
And there hasn't really been anything else added to older zones. You can kill Jotunn and Death now, but both of them require a specific weapon that you can't get either of until the end of the game anyway.
Thank you. Do you know how many VHS tapes there are total?I have two in my inventory right now
There's still only the two, the black one and the white one. Watching the white one is required for one of the optional endings, but I've heard it's bugged if you did it in early access and you need to use a save editor to fix it. I dunno the details exactly since I made a new save for 1.0
I watched the white one, I just forgot what actually happened there since it's been a while.
I hope it's not bugged though, and that I can watch it again
>I hope it's not bugged though
It is. That's one of the most prevelant complaints that I saw on the Steam Lunacid forum.
>I hope it's not bugged though, and that I can watch it again
Ehehe...
Have you watched the white VHS tape yet? If so then you already know the ending.

Demi a cute.
embarrassing
>spec into INT
>boss is a cakewalk

i'm a silly goose
I suspect he was making fun of the failed spoiler tag anon.
I beat him just fine with melee though.
I agree with everything else though.
I couldn't beat him with Strength until I went and got the moonlight sword from the arena. You cheated not only the game but yourself etc etc
The atmosphere and music is just totally wrong.
Is Sucsarius really THAT bad with melee? I just spammed Ice Tear and killed him in like 2 minutes but I've seen multiple people claim 15+ minutes of whacking him with melee. I know melee is dogshit in this game but surely it's not that bad, right?
