If only we had tents that didn't end up removed so the potats don't have to sleep like hobos.
I thought it would be unsalvageable trash after the news about removing piss and shit hit, but it's still really enjoyable game. Hello Abyss is a fricking blight tho.
Tents would be a better save mechanic than balloons, since balloons are just poorly balanced and unusable in a lot of situations and sometimes entire fricking map areas
I love it but I still would recommend waiting for a sale. You'll definitely get your money's worth either way though; beating the OC mode is a real commitment. The transition between being a Moon Whistle to finally reaching Black was one of the most punishing and difficult section I've played in any game recently. >just climb to the bottom of 4th layer bro >TWICE even
>about to get on rope >two fricking birds following me but they're far enough away so I have time >one still somehow hits me without making contact from two feet away and fall to my death
Nope, the AI is simply irredeemable, and the "survival" comes from preparation and planning, rather than improvising
The game is also very lenient when it comes to death (but absolutely ruthless when it comes to underpreparing)
Haven't they heard of the number one rule of writing being that you don't bring something up if you're not going to show it? Even the anime didn't make that faux pas.
This game is at it's best when it's fricking with you and you have to actually scrounge stuff up from the areas you traverse to barely scrape by, so it's a little sad that it only really occurs when you're a greedy cheapskate. Extremely fun game though, it's so relaxing. I need more games that let me play as a little kid facing dangerous foes and collecting cute hats while wearing gigantic backpacks.
In a way, the suffering cheapskates thing reminds me of gays learning the hard way to buy what you can afford now in Dragon Quest, cuz there's always those dumbasses who will kill themselves trying to save for a copper sword.

Yeah it's cool how it's mainly greed that gets you into trouble. If you just filled your pack entirely with food and weapons and never pushed your luck you'd always be completely safe.
But then you'd never be able to carry relics so both kinds of upgrade would be slow, conversely making things harder when progressing unless you play even more conservatively. So getting to decide yourself how safe you want to be gets to be a constant source of tension.
I don't think it's meant to be thematic with the source material but it's a neat confluence anyway.
>Quest: go kill a bunch of Tachikanatas >there's fricking two of these on the 1st layer and nowhere else >they may or may not spawn in their spots, this is decided when you start the dive >they do not respawn if you leave and come back after killing them >same shit applies to every "boss-like" monster like Ottobas or Silkfang
They're totally gonna ask me to kill 100 of these eventually, aren't they?
There's always a Tachikanata in the first layer and stuff like Silkfang + Ottobas are always somewhere too. It might take a few cave raids, but that's an easy request with fast travel available. Every time you enter the Abyss just fast travel to that map and kill it.
>fast travel to that map
You can only fast travel to the first area of each layer, right? If you can travel to your area of choice then please teach me how, because I don't know.
The game gives you an option for it mid expedition, but mine's currently locked so maybe I am wrong about it. Either way getting to a Tachikanata is easy. Just go Netherworld Gate > Waterfall Gondola > Stone Ark and he's right there every single time I have gone there. You barely have to anything except climb down the walls in Netherworld Gate.
>he's right there every single time I have gone there
He was for me BEFORE I picked up the quest, now he's only there half of the time, same for the one in Wind-Riding Mill.
Dunno if it's an extremely unlucky coincidence or if the game makes them rarer once you're actually aiming for them. I've had instances where neither showed up.
I went to the seeker camp and straight to Habo and back up, and then immediately got a mission for moon whistle, feels kinda fast, there's still so much left to explore on the second layer.
Datamining and spoiler gays are utter cancer with zero ability to grasp the concept of enjoying something. Complete the requests to see it for yourself instead of waiting for handouts.
>Doing a run in layer to gather everything I need for a full set of relic gear and weapons >Take all side quests along the way as one would >End up using all durability of my main weapons by the time I'm at seeker camp >Take Marulk's quest >It's just some antidote herb gather and it's close enough enough >going into the edge of the abyss map >hit quest mark >fight against the fricking hippo >my only remain weapons are a pickaxe with 1 hit of durability left and shit small hatchets >hatchets can't damage him, no not "little" damage" but literally 0 >I can't leave the area after entering >my last save is 2 hours ago or the auto save that locked me into the zone >Check my inventory >I have just enough to turn my dying pickaxe into relic pickaxe
and that's how I avoided softlocking myself or losing a day worth of progress.
They were at the edge so maybe. They saved my ass because the hippos HP got bugged and wouldn't decrease.

I've had that with some minibosses too, they wouldn't take any more damage until i took distance and let them attack instead of dodging around them from close by.
There is, this entire map is a fricking dark maze though, I recommend to put up the brightness of the game to full for this map, or you'll end up going in circles
I dunno anon. Every time I've gone inside I got lost or took ages finding the path until I die or leave, then next time I use the wall and I am done in like 1/15th of the time.
Understandable, I avoided that area entirely when I was looking for relics, but I still explored it out of curiosity, and it's worth to at least enter the ship, even if you do it by scaling the wall outside, because there's always a backpack, sometimes even two, full of gear inside it, also there's a fishing spot at the bottom of the dark area
It oscillates between comfy and tremendously stressful adventures where you'd kiss the dirt on seeing the 1st layer again.
WAAAW DUDE HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW
lol you can see the thing
But anyway if you press towards the wall (and maybe mash the action button?) you can grab it again in these situations.
Basically if you haven't hit terminal velocity yet you can always recover, so you can parkour a bit too.
My route through 3rd layer involves a few awkward jumps around stuff using this fact, it's faster but my balls shoot up into my body each time.
>can't stay on surface due to condition >forced to cross-dress at all times >gets regularly strung up naked and bullied >if growing up will never get even in reach of being able to defend against ridiculous strong ozen
Poor marulk.
There's no way he doesn't turn into a terrifyingly competent crossdressing white whistle when he grows up
Nothing in the abyss can threaten him after his upbringing at the hands of Ozen except for any monster equipped with tentacles which he always ends up tied up by
Is there any hope of killing the Mountain Fire Spinner in the 3rd Layer without Ranged weapons? There's literally nowhere to dodge even if your roll could be quickly spammed to dodge all the fire spins and there wasn't always 3 Rock-Walkers blocking both paths.
I mean the one during the "wow, you're stuck now lmao, better wait for rescue" sidequest on a thigh high platform you have to take six years to climb and his attacks extend beyond it.
Yeah, that guy. You climb up pretty far from him don't you? Although there's like 3 ways into that area I think, maybe I entered from a different angle. I just walked up to him, smacked him a couple times, backed off when he spun, then smacked him a couple more times and he died.
Must have bugged out or something for me, the first couple times I fought it he just spammed that fire spin attack while those infinite spawning bugs stopped me from escaping. This time he did nothing except the head swing I didn't know he could do.
Just started this game, and the enemy spawns are frustrating the hell out of me. Every time I stop to look around for excavation spots a gang of squirrels appears around me. And if I kill them I need to dismantle them to get food and bones to replenish my health and weapons. And while I dismantle them more appear. And it never ends!
Once you get a couple skills and learn how to move it stops bothering you. It basically exists to keep pressure on you and make first explorations of an area more hostile. Also to kick you when you're down and have to slow down to resupply.
It's also a timer so don't frick around in one area too long until you know how to juke em.
Even though you can punch your way through the tutorial combat is basically a last resort in the main game.
Are poison arrows actually good for anything? I thought to bring some along against strong things so I didn't lose so many pickaxes, but it seems like anything strong I've tried them on are immune to it. At least after 5-10 shots, that is. If I need to shoot them like 30 times then I'm not going to bother at all
Bow is good early on, poison's basically just an option for having a pussy way to deal with big things if you have the patience. Or alternatively if you're using the bow anyway it's some extra damage.
Enemies can be immune to one poison type or the other but the only way to know is experimentation, not worth it imo.
Guns fricking rule once you can put some skills into em, so don't waste any points on that unless you really like bows btw.
I mean they're fine so stick with it if you like the playstyle but explosive bullets are like a mini nuke machine gun.
Oh nice, woke up and actually saw the reply pop-up. Crazy timing.
Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I actually am floating some skill points now with nothing spent in either gun or bow. I think I'll test out gun now.
They're underwhelming at first unless you're sniping (not that bows aren't also weak initially, but at least you can aim them). But once you get the aiming speed upgrade they're great. Before then you can use incendiary ammo as a shotgun which can even stunlock orb-piercers to death before you get explosives, which shred everything.

Yeah, that's why I took the bow and poison arrows in the first place, but do they even work on strong stuff? How many shots do I need?
Also, why are there blue poison arrows? They don't die from hunger, right? Or will they stop attacking due to lack of stamina?
usually only one on things that are actually susceptible, in my experience
blue and red poison do the same thing to enemies, just some are resistant to one or the other.
Hmm, I think I'll grab 50 arrows and see how it works then. Thanks. Though, I'll really have to take weight of the arrows into account, huh.
This is a pretty neat system, although frustrating at times
I usually only take 10 of each, that's plenty for most dives. If you end up in a fight that looks like it's going to take more than a couple swings, especially against multiple foes, start it off by applying poison to everyone and then just fighting normally with melee while the poison doubles your dps

Oh, that few? Sounds like the stuff I tried it against (like the hippo this guy was stuck on
>Doing a run in layer to gather everything I need for a full set of relic gear and weapons >Take all side quests along the way as one would >End up using all durability of my main weapons by the time I'm at seeker camp >Take Marulk's quest >It's just some antidote herb gather and it's close enough enough >going into the edge of the abyss map >hit quest mark >fight against the fricking hippo >my only remain weapons are a pickaxe with 1 hit of durability left and shit small hatchets >hatchets can't damage him, no not "little" damage" but literally 0 >I can't leave the area after entering >my last save is 2 hours ago or the auto save that locked me into the zone >Check my inventory >I have just enough to turn my dying pickaxe into relic pickaxe

) were completely immune then.
I guess I'll start shooting random stuff and see what works.
>Finish relic armor and weapons and decide to finally go into the 3rd layer >forget helmet has no lantern, and my monitor makes the game dark as shit >barely notice a weird circle on the floor, instinct says not to step on it >go down a rope and notice what it was
And later on I got killed by a sudden rock, this layer seems like its going to be a wild ride
>go down a rope and notice what it was
I wasn't so lucky.
In that area, some of the rooms can only be accessed by being caught on that and struggling out.
The game gives marulk's helmet right before the third layer, which is the best helmet when it comes to lights
So, you know what to do
Shame about grinding the relic armor, honestly it's pretty shit to grind materials for them, just do relic weapons and git gud at rolling
I wanted it mostly for the looks since I like the design, but it didnt take me long to grind, got everything in a single dive prior to that
There are helmets without lanterns?!?!
>go down a rope and notice what it was
I wasn't so lucky.
In that area, some of the rooms can only be accessed by being caught on that and struggling out.
Yeah I noticed after looking at the layout so eventually I will have to frick around and find out This game fricks with my anxiety pretty bad and with my bad end fetish that developed from it so I get immersed pretty easily
>the premise for MiA was originally intended to be a e-girl doujin with a bit of action before it was repurposed into a manga
lmao I can't believe homosexuals were unironically arguing tsukushi isn't a fat pedophile
Tsukushi is, 100% a e-girlcon with the weirdest fetishes out there, he doesn't even try to hide it. Doesn't mean I can enjoy his works regardless because they are legitimately really good for different purposes.
I don't really care if he is at this point. MiA is great, but it's pure cope to argue the piss and stuff isn't a fricking fetish.
I know, but it can't be helped since people have to keep an image and reputation and they can't go out and about recommending something if their normalgay buddies learn about these facts, they always have to try as hard as possible to tell them "i-it's not like that". I'm honestly perfectly ok with his fetishes.
>I'm honestly perfectly ok with his fetishes.
I'm ok with pretty much any fetishes depicted in fiction except I think guro against children is crossing a line, but I'm not even sure the latter is actually a fetish to him
the stuff like riko shitting in the last dive pod didn't even phase me, and if that filters homosexuals on reddit then lol
based, now I need to read it
I had the first 10 volumes standing around for a while because I prefer reading finished mangas but that sounds too good to wait any longer.
Tsukushi is, 100% a e-girlcon with the weirdest fetishes out there, he doesn't even try to hide it. Doesn't mean I can enjoy his works regardless because they are legitimately really good for different purposes.
>it couldn't possibly be sexual, bro >the man whose made a crossdressing shota doujin before is innocent! >marulk being strung up naked with his puffy nipples sticking out IS NOT SEXUAL!!!! it's just world building, ok???!
holy cope
I'm not gonna bother finding it for you but the reason he gives in an interview for not independently (that's what the word means you dumb frick) publishing it as a fricking pop-up picture book (you moron) is because it turned into something that wasn't for children.
You're too dumb even for the internet. Stop posting forever.
I just get a moron vibe from these guys but very possibly. Remember a few years back when the FBI tried to plant a meme about Star Trek fans being pedos before giving up? For whatever reason they were doing that, anime's a thousand times easier as a target.
We never had this shit in MiA threads before but since the game just came out it makes sense. As dumb as the idea sounds the internet is full of this death of a thousand cuts type shit now.
I still think they're probably just redditors though.
>I just get a moron vibe from these guys but very possibly
I get the same vibe too, I'm seeing a lot of these HAHA TSUKUSHI IS A BASED PEDO, AMIRITE FELLOW PEDOS? *inserts made up greentext and out of context made up quotes* floating around in these threads which I doubt they're organic, when the threads are chill people just talk about the world and the characters, maybe UOH a bit but a lot of these posts seem extremely on the nose. I know reddit actually edited some tsukushi interviews to make him look like a pedo in the past.
A little exploit for those needing limber scales or fish in general
Using a save balloon after you collect your fish and loading that save respawns the fish.
You can go to Terminal Pond, fish out all the fish that drop limber scales, go through the Edge of the Abyss entrance and back again, and the fish will respawn. Saves you the weight of all those balloons.
>can wear a dress >both voice actors are female >is never referred to by sex
like, most main characters are men but who is going to come to my house and claim my character isn't a e-girl?
>playing Switch version >jump over lilypad happily enjoying my adventure >Height from the jump triggers the Curse animation and a monster spawns in on the other side that wasn't there before >Screen shifts like normal as my character vomits heavily >Jirou and the Orphanage Director flash into existence like phantoms watching me >Horrifying fluffy masked creature with bloodstained spikes immediately starts to walk towards me >Shortly after I regain control it one shots me and I watch my potato die, impaled and bleeding from every orifice
Nobody told me this was a horror game, what the frick. I was only prepared for emotional damage a second time through, not a heart attack.
>cyberpunk anime: bleak, dark series where the main character dies without doing anything of significant >cyberpunk game: solo arasaka's HQ and adam smasher, probably will die too but actually go down as a legend and topple down one of the largest corporation on earth
>made in abyss series:bleak, dark series where characters die left and right >made in abyss game: OC kun got from red whistle to white whistle in less than 1 month, make 2 of the strongest character kneel, able to descend into the abyss faster than the actual main character despite having no cheat robot and start months later than her
>Attack on Titan series: bleak, dark series where the main character is forced to do heinous shit to save his homeland >Attack on Titan game: OC kun is giga roided Levi x100 despite being normal human
Why self insert games always have power fantasy pandering shit like this?
Because not being able to do anything while Kirito_XxSh4d0w985 is running around with cheat code level abilities is lame as frick. People want to play as the cool characters or at least on their level, not a generic person who can barely fight anything. For example, imagine a Batman game but you only catch petty criminals and the actual named characters almost never show up.
I don't really think it's relevant to anything, but yeah. The MC is really talented at shooting games to the point of beating competitive players despite only starting Full Dive type games recently (at the start of Fatal Bullet) and has a very OP dumbass AI (NPC) wife to boot that is just as strong as real world players. They're basically fuelled by pure friendship and /k/ autism power. It's actually a fun game if you skip all the scenes about the actual SAO characters and only watch the OC's for this game (Premiere scenes too). It really feels like you're back in the old days playing some slightly obscure PSP/Vita title.
The end of the manga will just be Riko and Reg stumbling upon the bottom of the Abyss where they'll find Aki's self made house inside the most horrifying creature the two have ever seen, along with his excavation site wherein they are trying to force another layer out of the Abyss.
I'd honestly be a bit surprised if aki doesn't get at the very least mentioned since nothing you do in the game really contradicts anything in the manga/anime, beating bondrewd aside.
As if the Abyss itself had a will of it's own and reshaped the world for one final act of spite against it's greatest rival, the very deepest point in the abyss is filled with pillars upon pillars of salt to mock the journey made to reach this point.

Aki will be waiting at the bottom of the abyss atop a mountain of salt.

Time dilation in the abyss makes it so the lower level you are, the slower time flows for you. By the time Riko reaches the 7th layer, Lyza would have probably been there for a year or 2 tops. You can easily catch up with anyone diving if you go straight down with no detours. Riko had plenty of detours.
That'll get him too. Movie got me more than the anime. Admittedly that's mostly my fault for making the colossal frick-up of watching the episode 13 moment before getting there, but it got me the first time even without the context. Tip for watchers, don't be a fricking moron like I was, watch 1-13 and the movie before researching any of it.
It's the first cool armor set you get. Also, difficulty ramps up starting from the 3rd layer. If you wanna farm less, don't get the helmet, because it doesn't have a light, and you'll need that. Unless you don't mind carrying a torch around that is.
What is it that makes this game so good anyway? It obviously has a lot of glaring flaws and is not everybody's cup of tea, but it's still very fun to play somehow.
You have accidentally ruined my night, friend. I thought I missed a control somewhere and I'd be able to spam my whistle non stop while wandering the Abyss or waiting for things like stamina/curse regen
I always thought half the appeal of this game would be playing as reg and unlocking shit while having to manage the girl. Along with having an oh shit button with the cannon but then having to switch to playing the girl after reg feints.
I feel like a game based around a glorified escort quest would be absolutely painful to play. Imagine Riko just fricking falling off a ledge like a moron.
Either Riko would be too easy to protect and the game would be boring, or it'd be too hard and feel completely unfair because Riko's control is out of your hands. The only way to do it would be some kind of co-op multiplayer, but then who wants to play as the useless dead weight?
Sorry i didn't mean escort or babysit, I meant manage. Things like descent levels and resource management, she would be guiding you still and you would assist her with quests. Playing as reg would be hyper mobile with combat but your health bar would trigger the laser also. Then having to switch to Riko would be about having frick all mobility and everything diving on you while you find a cave to cry in.

You'd give Riko has all the exploring skills and finding shit skills etc. and then Reg is the escort. People who play as Reg get to fight and beat up shit, people who play as Riko get to explore and find relics.
>The only way to do it would be some kind of co-op multiplayer, but then who wants to play as the useless dead weight?
Give Riko different abilities and things to do, then have a bunch of moments where they get split up similar to Resident Evil 5 and 6. It would literally be a perfect coop title because it adds the possibility for three very important things: cooperation, banter about stolen/hoarded resources or items and the ability to get your friend killed in a way they don't see coming.
Even when you play as Ashley in RE4, or Sherry in RE2, these segments are short and you have ways of fighting back. You're severely underestimating just how frustrating it is to have to carry dead weight, or be dead weight for someone else. Co-op works when the players are equal, it doesn't when one is the punching bag and the other gets to do the fun stuff.
>You're severely underestimating just how frustrating it is to have to carry dead weight, or be dead weight for someone else.
No, you're severely underestimating people and game designers in general. You do not only have the option of Riko doing nothing but gathering. You could build a more gimmicky moveset out of all her cave raiding gear like the Umbrella and make her a ranged damage/support, while Reg has a more active attacking focus and combo oriented playstyle. Plenty of ways to give each player something fun and useful.
You know what's actually boring? Having the exact same character as your friend and no options to play with. And you know what's actually fun? Screwing with each other and choosing your own preferred playstyle while splitting the work.
A fun mission in EDF can be anything from the two of you both playing Fencer with similar weapons decimating ants left and right, to that time your buddy brutally murdered your Ranger along with the entire last wave using his unavoidable Air Raider barrages. When playing Resident Evil together you don't just copy each others guns and olay efficiently to make sure everyone carries their weight, you call shots on items to use something different from each other and spin kick them off ledges into enemies. Co-op games are fun specifically because of stuff like that.

IT'S ALIENS.
It has to be, there's no other way to explain this shit.
>Giant hole caused by ayylmao spaceship crash-landing >All the animals carried Noah's Ark style got out and are the Abyss monsters >The force field is due to radiation/nanomachines >Interference units were the helpers/running the ship during hypersleep >Relics are weird alium tech
How else do you explain something Ido Front having been built and abandoned WAY before Orth was even founded
For fricking once I want it to be aliens/ancient lost civilization/different dimension/time travel. I'm sick and tired of subversion garbage about dreams and teaching real life lessons and other hack shit written by homosexuals wanting to sound deep.

I think that, originally, there was nothing in there. Then by some magic, the Abyss was instantly created or teleported into that region.
It's really, REALLY weird to see all those sunken ships just hanging from the walls. It feels like they were at the bottom of the ocean and happened to be in the way of the Abyss's formation.
It's gonna be a rip-off of Megaman Legends where there's a super robot mastermind at the bottom who's running experiments on Orth and is about to push the reset button.
It's either aliens or, in my opinion, the Abyss itself is some kind of eldritch demon that is slowly but surely consuming the earth. The Curse is expanding, which is why monsters from the lower layers of the abyss are appearing more often in the upper layers.

It could be a black hole that crashed into the planet, and the forcefield is some kind of planetary defence to contain it (idk why, gaia or aliens again).
Kinda fits with the time-dilation and strains of ascending being some sort of time/gravity thing. And it's mentioned in the manga that barometers don't work in the abyss, implying something is modulating the air density.
Also that might explain the "ring of light" on the 7th layer. And potentially makes the "Star" Compass which is literally page 1 of the manga with Riko's speculations.
It's my favourite idea because if time dilation continues then the bottom would be genuinely primordial. No time would have passed since the beginning of life, and maybe the abyss is the crucible of life itself with all these things that look sometimes look more foetal as you go down being actually ancient and interacting with one another along its continuum, in a single ecology spanning both space and time.
I've also thought about the ark thing.
It could just be a crashed seed ship with the drive acting up, no aliens necessary, and we're just on another planet.

I'm not so sure about the the ark concept but I like your explanation of the Abyss. However, I believe the Abyss is "alive" in that it's not just a coincidence of nature; it's a supernatural diety that has a will and an inherent ability to entice humanity into it's gaping maw, like a predator, so to speak.
Yeah it could easily be both. That could account for the force field, consciously keeping it contained, even drawing people in for its own reasons. Or something which evolved within it, or an intelligence which formed as a result of that evolutionary war with a relationship with humans who left at some point.
Or all three if it was a spaceship with a gravity drive lol

*makes the "Star" Compass literal
I hope the "point" of the abyss is left open ended even if the major mysteries are solved. The abyss is here, it's doing shit to humans, but there's no why, just the effects of it.
That's the kind of stuff I like in sci-fi, an alien force with motivations that can be theorized, but not proven. For all the reader knows, it can be a knowing malevolent force acting to trap people within it, or it could be grug the robot smashing beetles with a rock for no particular reason, maybe it likes the sound when humans turn into shiny rocks.
>Ido Front on the 5th layer >A full ass ship stuck in a cliffside on the third layer >Praying skeletons and weird tribal shit and windmills and primitive shit on the first layer.
The abyss is growing dude. Probably consumed every civilization that settled there, sucking it deeper into its core for thousands of years until the modern age, where the entire world is aware of it.
The abyss targets humanity too specifically for it to be anything baltantly sci-fi like that. It's whole ecosystem makes me think the Abyss is some sort of human pitcher plant. It lures people in with the sweet scent of power and riches until they literally cannot get out and inevitably consumed by it.
Eldritch or lovecraftian? Maybe. It could also just literally be a portal to hell.
I bet the abyss grows in cycles, and whenever it enters a growth period the "death" curse reaches all the way to the top. So the people living on top of it have the ground collapse underneath them, and when they try to climb out they die instantly.
I've been on the 3rd Layer for days.
Holy shit this game is so much fun. So fricking hard. I can't see absolutely shit inside those tunnels and keep getting lost.
I guess it really was worth $60 in the end. The only thing that really grinds my gears is getting body blocked by 2~4 of those bugs that keep respawning on my back.
I just made it to the interference unit on layer 2, managed to defeat him no problem, and when as I try to hike back, i get attacked by a group of 3 foreign raiders, frick off my doods, I shouldn't be locked in an arena fight with you butthole after just having to spend my resources fighting a boss.
So I guess I'm moon whistle now, time to upgrade my gear again.
Second layer feels like it went so much faster.
How am I supposed to beat Ouzen as my OC character? This is nothing like her fight with Reg. She has that Nothing Personnel Kid move where she grabs you and tosses you in the air, and nothing I throw at her seems to do any damage.
you could loop her by baiting her grab. hit her two times with your pickaxe, walk away and bait her grab, walk back in and hit two times and repeat. you'll need at least 3 relic pickaxes to beat her, but it's worth it because her reward is insanely good.
prob like 3 minutes. if you get thrown up into the air she doesn't attack again until after the effect has stopped so you can just eat and heal during that time. idk to me it doesn't really feel like she actually goes all out on OC potat.
Are the respawning enemies really that big of a deal? I literally only had trouble with it on my first ever trip when I was on level 1 with one or two pickaxes and didn't understand the mechanic.
How am I supposed to beat Ouzen as my OC character? This is nothing like her fight with Reg. She has that Nothing Personnel Kid move where she grabs you and tosses you in the air, and nothing I throw at her seems to do any damage.
Should I just come back later?
Just shoot her 100 times until she dies, it's a pretty easy fight.
They are only useful if you want to farm bug/bird meat en masse. If you are a scenerygay like me, it's just annyoing shit preventing you from enjoying your tater's butt while rappeling.
They have genuinely important gameplay purposes but I can respect that you just wanna look at stuff and aren't making shit up to justify turning it off like the tedious casuals we mostly get
What's up with the Orb Piercer before the Riko sidequest marker? No matter what I do he just instantly targets me with a lightning speed guaranteed 1 shot and I can't get past at all because the thing is psychic.
The silk threads paralyze you, and it jumps towards you and swipe at you. It's literally only dangerous from the front though, so approaching it from the side is completely safe.
>sneak past the Orb Piercer by pure chance because it's AI bugged out >"lmao sorry buddy, let's head back up to the start of the 4th Layer. I think my robot with a human penis is actually up there rofl"
I AM GOING TO KILL RIKO
Not only do you have to get past orby, but now you also have to beat the rest of that area with no checkpoints after. Sure would be a shame if a butterfly knocked you while climbing and caused you to fall to your death.
As soon as I can get a cute outfit, i shall post my potat, but right now I need more money because crafting the relic gear makes me use the cook gear and i was branching towards the other end.
Also the QR code screenshot transfer no longer works with my phone and switch, dunno why.
Mitty was a once-in-a-lifetime thing that took Bondrewd a shitton of experiments and mutated kids to produce, couldn't die, then died
Then in Ilblu someone said he brought a Mitty and traded it to them, somehow it has the exact same mutations and both eyes
Then it turns out it's like the villagers and can't exist outside of the village??
Belaf litteraly explained that he created it from trading half his body and much like anything else from the village it can't existe outside, Mitty died the first time because incinerator is basicaly a cheat.
How and why would he trade half his body for something that didn't exist yet
Are you saying his body parts turned into Mitty or Bon took them away
Why Mitty in particular when the real Mitty had been whisked away with Nanachi
They literally explain it, please watch the anime slower.
I read the manga AND watched the anime and I still don't get it lmao
Anon, i think you need to watch the whole season again, belaf wanted to have mitty since she was immortal and basically was infinite food, bonddad didn't want to trade since she was one of a kinda so belaf paid extra for the village to make an exact copy of it, it's as simple as that.
Speedwatcher-kun...
Bondrewd brought Mitty down to show Belaf, Belaf was all "gimme da mitty" and Bondy said "nah sorry buddy I'm out", so Belaf had the village make him a new Mitty.
As for how there can be 2 Mittys, her soul is trapped in the abyss so it's easy enough to just bring her back to "life" even if she isn't dead. Expect this to be more of a plot point moving forward, there's no escape from the abyss so you just exist there forever.
Couldn't you trade anything to the village and get anything, like I say I'll trade myself for a magic item that nullifies the curse, boom, problem solved
Also how did Bondrewd get back up from the village layer, obviously he can transfer bodies but can he do it between layers? If he can do that why isn't he perpetually on the surface as well as in the abyss? What's the range on his consciousness transference, can he die if he has no bodies to transfer into?
Bondrew literally split Mitty in half and the village just healed one of the halfs to make her whole, thats why Nanachi's Mitty only has an eye, its the half that had to heal by herself
Happy?

I thought Mitty lost an eye in one of Nanachi's attempts to permanently kill her

They litteraly explain that village mitty is a copy of mitty before bon's experiments, that's what cause her to deform, idk wtf that guy is on about

No?
Her missing eye is because Bondrewd used Sparagmos while testing, which, like Reg's Incinerator, can't be regenerated
Mitty is immortal, but if her body gets mangled enough, she stays mangled after regenerating
bondrewd probably just switched bodies, all the umbra hands are him after all >If he can do that why isn't he perpetually on the surface as well as in the abyss
he has umbra hands everywhere, but only one stays in the bondrewd form at a time. >What's the range on his consciousness transference
that's not how it works >can he die if he has no bodies to transfer into?
Yes, technically he's already dead.
Bondrew literally split Mitty in half and the village just healed one of the halfs to make her whole, thats why Nanachi's Mitty only has an eye, its the half that had to heal by herself
Happy?
No, mitty's eye was lost to the sparagmos thing or whatever its name was, you guy's really need to pay more attention.
It does kinda seem like the Abyss itself can make shit. Besides manifesting its power, I think there's something the robots say about relics sometimes appearing in places they weren't before.
Seems like the village gained a limited form of that power as means or side-effect of guaranteeing the wish for safety or whatever.
So making a new Mitty body when it can clearly make whole people (or give them giant bodies many times bigger than they started with) doesn't seem like a problem, especially given that they're basically tied to the village itself and are probably technically a part of it.
If souls return to the Abyss/force-field then I guess snagging a particular one to embody turns out to be possible too.
But what I don't get is the timeline since it kinda seems like there should have been 2 Mittys for a while, unless Belaf only scored his version super recently (time dilation makes this worse) and it didn't seem that way since he was inspired by Bondrewd visiting before he'd even experimented on her which might have been a decade or more ago given Nanachi's collection of delver graves.
So I dunno how someone can have two souls at once. Maybe that was a copy as well, idk. I kinda suspect the Abyss is the source of all life on this world so I don't really have a problem with that.
We don't know how old Nanachi is, how long ago she was made into fluff and how long ago she escaped. Mitty might have been made into jelly 100 years ago and freed 50 years later. Narehates don't seem to age and Bondy is pretty much immortal until his consciousness doesn't fade away.

Agreed but I was being conservative, consider the "or more" in that sentence generously.

(You)'re a dumb homosexual, happy?
There's dozens of them and they're all overgrown with moss so it's been a while since the last one prior to Riko. Her yard looks like fricking Bloodborne.
And these are all people she found dying. I dunno how many people you think visit the 4th layer but she's been at this a while.
And I think it might be even more extreme in the manga but you didn't even deserve this much of a response so I ain't checking.
>gave birth to faputa who will now help the MC
Then why is Faputa saying that the creatures in the village are eating her mothers body if Vueko is alive and well?
I can't get mad at this game. Whenever I die to some janky shit my imagination somehow covers it and I think "yep that is how a kid would randomly die in the Abyss" and I just laugh.
It's an epic adventure simulator that uses survival elements to let you get yourself into trouble that turn into a whole saga to extract yourself from.
You don't have to scrounge food every 20 seconds like that game if that's what you mean. It's mostly about packing what you need and planning for contingencies; survival stuff comes in mainly when you're trying to push your luck or overextend.
Finished watching the new episode, honestly this is the first one that i can say with confidence that it was better in the manga... the 3d, the fight with belaf being just stills and the gore being simplified, i already expected these things to be fair, but yeah...
I'm mixed, the manga and anime go together so well because they do different things better. This episode is the flip side of what the anime has been doing such a good job of in rendering the (previously confusing) action in a more concrete way because Faputa getting fricked up probably works better when you're filling in the blanks.
But they can't all be mindblowing, this wasn't exactly a climactic beat in the first place.
>being just stills
iirc the manga is mostly stills too lol
>watched the death scenes video >think this bird is gonna frick me up >dies to one arrow >later meet snibeti snab at stone ark >expect to fight for my life >dies to a bunch of arrows
huh
Those birds are only a rare threat because they can get you by surprise while you're fighting something else, but there's subspecies with a lot more HP later if that makes you feel better.
But mostly big monsters are a resource issue rather than a threat and that's the main reason you want to avoid them, not because they can frick you up.
With a couple major exceptions (before you get better gear anyway).
But the projectile weapons are pretty overpowered anyway. The trade-off being how much ammo you're willing to stack.
In Heaven's Waterfall, where the entry to the 3rd layer is, if you decide to climb the cliff down instead, you will see a hole in the rock that leads to Updraft Wasteland You will be glad to know about this place for later
aki can read the force field like orb piercers can hence why orb piercers can't predict akis movements because it's a constant 4D chess battle between both of them before they even strike.
quite literally the most powerful being in the abyss.
Aki is a freak but maybe it's like that movie Unbreakable where if you throw a thousand kids into the abyss to die you're bound to find a superhero eventually.
Are (you) the player canon? That could be why orby cant read Aki's movements, because he's getting orders from you, like Reg from Nanachi
Would have been a cool-ass reveal if you'd pulled a relic out of your own eye at the end.
Riko's not that big. She's not a Nullarbor Plain relief map like Nanachi, but those are Prushka's breasts, not Riko's. Also you can tell they hired one guy to design all of these who only drew Reg because he was told he had to.
>those are Prushka's breasts, not Riko's.
I think that's meant to be her clothes hanging down, not her actual breasts. But yes she's very off-model.
Riko's built like a slightly used tube of those tiny toothpastes you get on long flights.
small smooth fish in 2rd layer (not demonfish)
Kiyui can give you a couple too
Edge of the Abyss is probably the easiest, there's 4 in there and you can just dip out to reset it.
Honestly not worth grinding for though unless you need em for a weapon or something though. Won't help that much in the next stretch of the game and it's super easy to get the next tier by fishing hard scales in Nanachi's back yard.
Whatever you do don't make the relic helmet, either way.
What's the max depth in the game?
5th layer but you spend way the frick more time enjoying areas the series speedran.
should i keep the princess bosom relics? are they used for anything?
No.
If there's a tiny bone icon that means it's a crafting material FYI. Bosoms aren't iirc.
Is it bad that none of this shit fazes me? I see people going all about how this shit goes a little bit too far but I'm not exactly finding it any less fun
No, the series is a masterpiece and pretty much everything is justified by the drama.
We've just had an infestation of superficial pearl-clutching reddit homosexuals lately. You never saw this shit in MiA threads back in 2017 or whatever.
do you unlock some kind of fast travel at some point? Im enjoying the game but it gets a bit frustrating having to climb all the way back up. Its not even difficult, just tedious
Yes, eventually you can fast travel to the beginning of layers after you upgrade your whistles. Blue whistles can travel to the begining of the 1st or 2nd layers. Moon whistles unlock the beginning of the 3rd layer. Black whistles can fast travel to the beginning of 4th. havn't gotten my white whistle yet. Oh, and it only works when you are in a layer you've cleared, and you can't be poisoned or too hurt/hungry
Pretty sure you can go to the start of any layer you've visited, you just can't travel FROM layers at or below your whistle authorisation.
And the white whistle doesn't affect fast travel even after you beat the game (basically the same thing if you jump in the elevator the moment you get it).
But the elevator is a shortcut back to Orth as often as you want after that point so it doesn't matter much besides keeping 5th a bit more interesting.
>you can't be poisoned or too hurt/hungry
You can be poisoned, at least with the blue/red poison, but making the trip cost health and hunger if you don't have enough you won't be able to travel
You can get swallowed whole by that giant slug thing from the first episode Crimson Splitjaws but I think you are dead before it actually swallows you.
>The Cave Raider descended towards the bottom of the abyss on their last dive. >Beginning a final journey of no return >That cave raider would be later called the white whistle of mirages >The sovereign of phantasm. BumBum the unseen
>Whoa a secret room >it's just a shit texture
I also found on the rope skill upgrade it says you can eat/drink while on rope even though there's no drinking.
I really hope modders can salvage the cut content somehow.
A lot of skill descriptions are some ESL budget translator shit, particularly the gathering ones which are way better than they sound. Also "healing speed" affects food too.
But what
Antidotes are drunk
said.
I think the "cut features" headcanon is way overblown but I'm looking forward to modding the frick out the game a year from now with the stuff people are inspired to add due to that meme regardless.
Yeah I like actual survival games so I'll take all that shit, but it'd take some major changes to justify it. The game they shipped is pretty unique so I'm glad they moved away from that direction since the current flow wouldn't support it, but I won't mind fricking it up to make everything more involved down the line.
Like you'd pretty much have to remove fast travel and spoil some of the traps the game sets to bait you into having adventures that feel totally organic at certain points, but that wouldn't matter on a replay.
There's other ideas they had in development too like randomising exits which'd suck the first time and break the scouting/planning you're meant to do but they'd be great when replaying.
But also whatever completely new stuff people eventually add. Relics are really underused even though you can think up utility relics really easily that wouldn't even require new systems, and I can think of a good gameplay reason they didn't do that either but I'm sure people are gonna go nuts with more canon interpretations like that.
>I think the "cut features" headcanon is way overblown
The datamine clearly shows it is still in. tbh enabling it would break the game I think
Yeah everyone knows that stuff's in there, but a lot of anons get carried away thinking they're "meant" to be in the game and not just aspects of earlier iterations that were dropped for a reason.
As far as we know subsets of those could even be different iterations and they were never all enabled at the same time in any point of development.
I'm at the bottom of the third layer and I'm out of salt and have 1 survival steak and 1 demonfish soup. I think I might be screwed unless I can find lots of pancake rats on the way up. Remember guys, when you pack salt and think you have enough... pack more salt. Don't be like me.
it doesn't cost any stamina to bust a cap. Learned that the hard way after running out of stamina, and not even being able to swing a weapon to hunt. I used to just carry a gun, incase I needed range for any surprise boss fights. Now I see that it's an invaluable survival tool
yo im at the ottobas sidequest with marulk, am i just underleveled for it or is this shit just scuffed? can barely damage it and the 2 extra gays plus marulk get one shot, same as me in full bone armor
I feel like them removing temperature mechanics was a big misstep. I can understand most of the other being cut but the final game makes several reference to temperature, from characters to quest descriptions, and having clothes that seem to imply they'll protect against the blizzard on the 5th layer or the lava on 3rd. There's a clear hole that hard to ignore and the weather would have been an appropriate challenge for the lower levels too.
Have any of you played the game without reading/watching the source material? I just want an interesting adventure game but I'm not sure if this would be good without knowing the references.
If you like etrian odyssey games you would probably enjoy this game even without the source material. My love of that genre is why I like MiA so much. Tutorial is a poor slog through the first couple episodes of the anime that you are forced to endure before the real game though.
The source material is some of the best shit in years so I highly recommend using this as an excuse to check it out. You could play the game without it since the tutorial is a recap but the tutorial is dogshit and would be an awful way to experience it for the first time.
Try the first season of the animu at least, it's like Studio Ghibli presents Roadside Picnic.
>Enter Cold Heat Layer >Lots of lava >Great I guess those fricking butterflies can't live here >Start climbing the walls >Butterfly appears
For fricks sake
So it's my first time at 2nd layer as Aki and I reached seeker's camp. The monkeys fight used up all my weapons and I'm left with 1 basic hatchet and no materials to make more. Should I track all the way back the way I came from (through hell's crossing) or try my luck further for some magical faster way back?
Go back into Hell's Crossing and take the immediate exit to the right into Inverted Arbor, then the nearest exit from there on the suspended walkway will take you to Corpse Weeper's Den. You'll need 1 rope then you're free.
easy man, you just need 2 bows and like 20 blue arrows and it will go down.
When it flies down, dodge it, and shoot it, that will make it go back up in the sky instead of continuing to attack you.
What determines ropes disappearing? >Backtrack from 2nd layer early in the game >All my ropes in the first layer disappear >Fricking around in 5th layer for a while after completing the black whistle trial >Time to go back >All my ropes in the 4th and 3rd layer are still intact
?????
Was hunger drain for actions always this aggressive or was I never paying attention? I'm losing 5 for jumping, 10 for a combo attack, and losing 1 per second just by dashing. I only noticed this after being saved by nanachi so is it related to that somehow?
After doing some testing it was the fricking thousand man wedges in my inventory tripling my hunger drain. Makes sense considering ozen is always hungry.
Maybe it's just because you're more comfortable running around bigger areas rather than wolfing down tail meat all the time just to make inventory space, idk.
Thousand-Man Pins increase hunger consumption slightly (which stacks) if you have one of those, and stamina regen is relative to hunger level.
Could be some other hidden mechanic though, who knows. I never tried comparing armour or full vs empty packs etc.
> and stamina regen is relative to hunger level.
And I meant to say, I have a feeling stamina usage affects hunger drain as well.
But,
After doing some testing it was the fricking thousand man wedges in my inventory tripling my hunger drain. Makes sense considering ozen is always hungry.
Yeah, to me it feels like it's magnified by depth level or player level or something. Last time I dove I brought 40 boiled eggs along with the salt and such, but it still wasn't enough to avoid a panic situation.
When I was fighting the thing at the end of layer 3 I had to keep eating because I had to jump to deal damage to it. I must have consumed at least 150% of a full satiety bar just in that fight, which doesn't make any sense to me. I even tried to use a blue poison antidote to make sure it just wasn't visible for some reason, but nope.
Maybe there's some bug, because I have nothing like
After doing some testing it was the fricking thousand man wedges in my inventory tripling my hunger drain. Makes sense considering ozen is always hungry.
>climb down a cliff face >4 fricking squirrels at the bottom waiting to rape me >try to heal >spawns 2 squirrels right behind me >constantly breaking hatchets because a butterfly appears behind you every 3 seconds >dont even try climbing to avoid them, because if one is above you you might as well be climbing right into a cliff head >oh and every 3 ft you climb might give you the shits
WHY DO I HAVE TO CARRY 7 HATCHETS ON ME AT ALL TIMES JUST TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT PAST THE FIRST AREA
Move faster, anon. The hoards don't start until you've been on a map for 5 or 6 minutes. Don't get greedy, you can't carry it all back anyway. Just grab what you need and keep moving
I wish there was some way to repair your weapons instead of having to craft new ones every time. Using the good weapons until they almost break and having to lug them around for the rest of the journey gets annoying, so i just leave most of them in storage.
You're trading backpack space for durability which in the game's survival planning economy can be converted into food, so they couldn't really do much else without being an almost pointless extra step with how the equation they'd need to use for repair item weight to work.
And letting you find resin or whetstones or whatever wouldn't work for basically the same reason, it'd break the whole system.
I do wish weapons didn't stack like they do though. It gives you a reason to carry an assortment but there's already other reasons which apply to nearly the same extent (although it does mean you end up with a spectrum of "how much do I care if this breaks" with you).
It's an Unreal Engine game so it can be modded, but whether or not anyone wants to do it remains to be seen. UE Modding is too much of a headache for me personally.
It's a good Switch game and designed for controllers so I'd go with that so you have a reason to blow the dust off your Switch.
Then pirate the PC version a year from now when there's actually a bunch of mods.
The only one currently that isn't a casual cheat mode is a music replacement. The in-game music is fine though (it's just not the anime OST). 3rd layer's pretty catchy imo
honestly i cheated and just kept bringing her the shop lady's beef bowls, she loves them. i just brought a bowl with me every time i went to visit nanachi
i do wonder which of your homecooked salted meals she loves though
If I'm an incredibly deadly robot in this scenario who just had my dumbass memory wiped I guess I'd have no reason to refuse.
Otherwise I'd probably think she looks kinda slow and call the vegetable protection agency before she hurts herself.
if you came up to get there and didn't set ropes earlier you can't afaik
just go back and leave through hail jail->eternal fortune garden or whatever
Maybe. It could also just literally be a portal to hell.
not unless it's growing downward.
the praying skeletons in volume 1 are 2000 years old but in a later chapter Nat explains they found more underneath that are 4000 and 6000 years old
not this reddit homosexual again lmao what about you stick to dilating your flesh wound instead
>Water Crystals 1
How the frick am I supposed to be get out of here?
>just go back and leave through hail jail->eternal fortune garden or whatever
I know what you mean but I wasn't stuck at that part, you can see I'm in the middle of the map
I dunno the direct comparison between the two but in general higher tiers do have slightly more durability.
But the difference is only like 1-3 hits, so it's basically not worth thinking about.
The advantage is more damage so that you can kill stuff in fewer hits, that's what saves your durability.
Meanwhile just carry hatchets and later the Scaled Umbrella for bugswatting. Most swarming enemies besides the big beetles only have like 1 or 2hp.
Alright. I haven't equipped the moon pixkaxe yet because it's so much heavier than my lightweight pickaxe from the blue whistle tier, and the relic one is 1200 grams, even heavier.
but i need some variety in weapons to avoid breaking them and having to craft/buy more when I go back up.
Yeah, they're worth it though. I just kept whatever the best thing I could make was intact and let my old lower tier ones break tactically so I'd have free weight for relics on the return trips.
And when I say hatchets for bugs btw I mean literally lt.hatchets or whatever that weigh nothing. I think long hatchet EXs are only like 200g though so that's the heaviest I ever went.
Guns are pretty good too so you don't have to worry about it when you get to bosses, so you can get away with fewer primary weapons.
Nvm I found the way out
[...] >just go back and leave through hail jail->eternal fortune garden or whatever
I know what you mean but I wasn't stuck at that part, you can see I'm in the middle of the map
Oh I didn't even look at the minimap since there's a couple variants of that area (like the first area of 4th layer).
I recognise that one though, I'd tell you where to go but now I don't need to.
Guns are extremely powerful later on, while bows are a bit more forgiving earlier. You don't need either but they can be occasionally useful, mainly for boss-type things.
You need a gun so you can fire flash bullets, which will distract most small threats
True but I basically never used those besides by accident, so it ain't exactly mandatory.
But if you use distractions in you play style it'd be a lot easier than fricking around with the other options.
>so it ain't exactly mandatory.
you'll be glad to have at least 1 flash bullet on you when you have 4 fricking birds/moths spawning on you or those butthole beetles chomping at your ankles when you just need to eat or heal for a second, much less try to fish. It can even save your life you need to climb a rope a cliff edge
Not saying it isn't a viable approach but it's probably better as a synergy if you're going to use guns anyway than a reason to take them.
It's not like there's any shortage of fricking sun stones.
I never used those either though except to experiment.
My style was just to always be moving and scout things first before fricking around too long in one area without a reason. You can find a spot to heal by using the terrain, and even when it comes to fishing you can clear out a pond before the first bird appears once you get the hang of it.
[...]
Nanachi doesn't like Reg, a BOY touching her, doesn't mind Riko, a GIRL. Nanachi is a girl.
We know but it's a fricking tedious topic. Literally everybody agrees with you besides a handful of morons who keep coming back to bait replies so they can try again.
Not saying the original guy is one of them, but don't even point it out or you'll attract something incredibly boring.
>It's not like there's any shortage of fricking sun stones.
The problem with sun stones is that they will roll off a ledge, they have physics. The flash bullet will stay directly where you shoot it. Its really difficult to use a sunstone while you on a cliff's ledge and that can get pretty brutal without a distraction in places.
it's a 6/10 game that has the soul of a 9/10 game. It's not "good" but if it features things that you like in games you won't really care whether it is or isn't.
so it happened to me a second time now, dunno if it's related to being under the curse, but if you rush up a rope ( and maybe being affected by curse? ) and get hit by one of those orange butterflies just as you're supposed to be climbing up the ledge, your character just lets go and you fall down.
Yeah, the rope climbing animation is just bugged get it?. If there's a butterfly anywhere near you when you try to go up the ledge you just teleport backwards a couple feet and fall back down to the bottom, but it doesn't even count as falling most of the time and you don't take damage.
I've fallen like 30 feet like that and still not taken damage, it seems to be something about bugs messing with the height calculation, like maybe if it tries to use the bug as your last position to calculate fall damage it just always gets 0.
basically. Someone posted a speed run vid a while back, and it seems like if you jump on a dead enemy on a cliff, you can use it glitch out fall damage, and descend VERY quickly through layers

Yeah it happens constantly on those fricking trees in the second area of the 4th layer. If there's a bug even remotely in your vicinity the ledge yeets you.
It can happen elsewhere (even mid-rope) but usually it's a physics glitch when you're being pushed by two from different directions.
Just make a habit of whacking the nearest one before you mantle up even if you just juke them normally.
And don't panic if you fall, before you hit terminal velocity you can actually grab it again if you press towards it (and maybe mash the interact button?).
It's easier on cliffs but try it on ropes anyway because there's also a favourable glitch where you can hit the ground even if you're in a fatal fall state and grab the rope on the same frame and be fine.
I'm not disagreeing, I just don't think it's a big enough deal to pick guns.
But I do think guns fricking rule though once you upgrade the skills a bit so I'd recommend taking guns anyway.
I guess the advice is to try it out and see if it's something he'd make use of.
But if that's a genuine question and you just haven't played a lot of survival games, it's not really that type of thing.
The survival mechanics are mainly there in support of the preparation/scouting/adaptation gameplay, and it uses them to let you get into fricked-up situations so you can have an adventure getting out again.
It's not one of those games where you're scrounging all the time. There's resources everywhere but it's pretty much a negative-sum game where you can be strategic about using them as a contingency when the gear you brought with you starts to deplete.
>nothing feels as raw and dangerous as Made in Abyss
there's roguelikes I guess, off the top of my head
iirc shit like aangband has you returning to the surface all the time but I might be mixing that one up with another
downside being they range from zero worldbuilding to incredibly autistic shit that's never worth reading so there's still no real atmosphere besides danger
that one PS5 game with the cover art that looks like an Alien ripoff maybe
This game ended up pretty interesting, didn't it? I need to try it.
The transition between being a Moon Whistle to finally reaching Black was one of the most punishing and difficult section I've played in any game recently.
>just climb to the bottom of 4th layer bro
>TWICE even
>about to get on rope
>two fricking birds following me but they're far enough away so I have time
>one still somehow hits me without making contact from two feet away and fall to my death
literal bullshit, frick.
Such is the will of the Abyss.
is this game anything like rainworld?
no
Nope, the AI is simply irredeemable, and the "survival" comes from preparation and planning, rather than improvising
The game is also very lenient when it comes to death (but absolutely ruthless when it comes to underpreparing)
They sure make a lot of jokes about being strung up naked in the game. Is that the only punishment in Orth?
It's the favorite punishment.
They learn to enjoy it.
Haven't they heard of the number one rule of writing being that you don't bring something up if you're not going to show it? Even the anime didn't make that faux pas.
im STILL mad that non of these strung up naked scenes are actually depicted in the game. It's like they don't even care about the source material
There was this scene...
Imagine adopting Marulk and having to untie him from bondage situations he gets himself into several times a day.
God I fricking hate Nanachi so god damn much. She ruined the story completely I wish she just died or fricked off with Belaf
Friendly reminder that we lost based Prushka for cringe N*nachi
I found some uninteractable thingy on the ground. Some cut content remnant?
no, you just got a really common bug where you can't interact with it
>Quest: go kill a bunch of Tachikanatas
>there's fricking two of these on the 1st layer and nowhere else
>they may or may not spawn in their spots, this is decided when you start the dive
>they do not respawn if you leave and come back after killing them
>same shit applies to every "boss-like" monster like Ottobas or Silkfang
He's almost never at stone ark for me, that said, ever since the Silkspider quest, those buttholes are everywhere.
layer 3 has a spiral room with 4ish tachikanata ancestors.
That's the problem. The quest is to kill regular ass tachikanata. Not azure, not ancestors.
I went to the seeker camp and straight to Habo and back up, and then immediately got a mission for moon whistle, feels kinda fast, there's still so much left to explore on the second layer.
someone rip the model and make a porn out of it yet?
Not yet, only a Prushka dancing webm
I want Aki eating out Dorothea while she is strung up naked and Dorothea sucking your dick while you are strung up.
is the game good enough to be included in the dickycore games list?
dickygore, yes
There's 0 sex appeal, it's just gore. Unless you find potats sexually appealing that is.
More like shotagore for the most part
wait, there's a dickycore list? post now
Is it even worth it to do all these guild quests? I've already finished the game.
I am dedicating this post to saying frick Rock-walkers and their 100% efficiency at biting you every single time you use literally any item.
Doing all requests and guild quests unlocks the foreign swimsuit top, bottom, bracelets, sandals and flower headress at the Caravan.
>foreign swimsuit top, bottom, bracelets, sandals and flower headress at the Caravan.
Are you for real or shitposting?
I swear if you're baiting I WILL shitpost these threads to death about it.
Guess he was shitposting.
Datamining and spoiler gays are utter cancer with zero ability to grasp the concept of enjoying something. Complete the requests to see it for yourself instead of waiting for handouts.
>Doing a run in layer to gather everything I need for a full set of relic gear and weapons
>Take all side quests along the way as one would
>End up using all durability of my main weapons by the time I'm at seeker camp
>Take Marulk's quest
>It's just some antidote herb gather and it's close enough enough
>going into the edge of the abyss map
>hit quest mark
>fight against the fricking hippo
>my only remain weapons are a pickaxe with 1 hit of durability left and shit small hatchets
>hatchets can't damage him, no not "little" damage" but literally 0
>I can't leave the area after entering
>my last save is 2 hours ago or the auto save that locked me into the zone
>Check my inventory
>I have just enough to turn my dying pickaxe into relic pickaxe
and that's how I avoided softlocking myself or losing a day worth of progress.
You could have used the floor spikes to kill the hippo too.
There were none as far as I'm aware in the little boss arena you're locked into.
I used them so yes there were. Two of them in fact.
How the hell did I never run into any of them running as a headless chicken then? Maybe I thought the boss arena was smaller than it actually is.
They were at the edge so maybe. They saved my ass because the hippos HP got bugged and wouldn't decrease.
I've had that with some minibosses too, they wouldn't take any more damage until i took distance and let them attack instead of dodging around them from close by.
Am I blind or is there no path through the Trapped Ship place without just climbing for ages on the wall?
It's fun to explore because the 3rd Layer theme a few areas in is very fricking hype, but there seems to be a lot of pointless spots and paths.
r8 my stable diffusion
I'd rather eat her butthole
>I'd rather eat her cloaca
lmftfy
Yes, thank you
>forces herself into your body
>rips apart your insides
not a good idea.
I'm trying to play on PC, but for some reason it is not recognizing my Xbox controller.
Any1 got any fix for this?
>at the top of glass layer
>throw lit torch down hole
>game crashes
What didn't they want me to see??
Prushka fapping.
Nanachi's big fat musky wiener
WAAAW DUDE HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW
This just happened to me in the 3rd layer with a Rock-walker.
what the frick? this isnt some comfy exploration game?
It oscillates between comfy and tremendously stressful adventures where you'd kiss the dirt on seeing the 1st layer again.
lol you can see the thing
But anyway if you press towards the wall (and maybe mash the action button?) you can grab it again in these situations.
Basically if you haven't hit terminal velocity yet you can always recover, so you can parkour a bit too.
My route through 3rd layer involves a few awkward jumps around stuff using this fact, it's faster but my balls shoot up into my body each time.
Frick the third layer
Just jump down, man. There's like fricking nothing inside, just speed run the walls.
>girl does pee pee
>10/10
Marulk doesn't seem like it's a proper localization. Shouldn't it have been Maruluk, since it's pronounced "Maruruk"?
Or just Marurulk
just call him mark bro
Doesn't fit a setting with so many exotic sounding names.
I mean, the game translates "Habolg" as "Hablog"
I only made it about an hour in, just up to the part where I take reg and look at the lift then receive the letter
does it get better
depends, if you brought 30 salt, you'll be fine, if you didn't... you're in for a bad time,.
You didn't even finish the tutorial yet, and it's about 3h long
The tutorial with Riko and Reg SUCKS, the OC character portion is much better but much more difficult/frustrating
tummy mod
peeled potat
I just want an upskirt mod and panty mod because apparently they don't exist.
They do. I mean they're painted on, but they are there.
marulk is for bully
I wish to eat his butthole and suck his dick
Ozen is for hardcore breeding.
You're out of luck if you're not a shota.
(You) play as a shota. Why else she kneels to (you)?
>can't stay on surface due to condition
>forced to cross-dress at all times
>gets regularly strung up naked and bullied
>if growing up will never get even in reach of being able to defend against ridiculous strong ozen
Poor marulk.
There's no way he doesn't turn into a terrifyingly competent crossdressing white whistle when he grows up
Nothing in the abyss can threaten him after his upbringing at the hands of Ozen except for any monster equipped with tentacles which he always ends up tied up by
Lucky marulk, you mean.
Do you have the orphanage outfit?
I'm afraid not, I got that picture from here.
>this is the extent of upskirts in an M-rated anime game released in 2022
we're living in the bad future
There are worse futures. Some of them probably don't have official Mitty breasts.
Looks weird
Are they wearing a diaper?
Is there any hope of killing the Mountain Fire Spinner in the 3rd Layer without Ranged weapons? There's literally nowhere to dodge even if your roll could be quickly spammed to dodge all the fire spins and there wasn't always 3 Rock-Walkers blocking both paths.
I just hit them in the face with a pickaxe until they died
And it never ends!
toss an apple or shiny object nearby, the squirrels will be lured by it.
Are poison arrows actually good for anything? I thought to bring some along against strong things so I didn't lose so many pickaxes, but it seems like anything strong I've tried them on are immune to it. At least after 5-10 shots, that is. If I need to shoot them like 30 times then I'm not going to bother at all
durability efficient damage is very important in a few place
Sounds like the stuff I tried it against (like the hippo this guy was stuck on
) were completely immune then.
I guess I'll start shooting random stuff and see what works.
>Finish relic armor and weapons and decide to finally go into the 3rd layer
>forget helmet has no lantern, and my monitor makes the game dark as shit
>barely notice a weird circle on the floor, instinct says not to step on it
>go down a rope and notice what it was
And later on I got killed by a sudden rock, this layer seems like its going to be a wild ride
He cute. I want to go back at some point to see what happens when I stop on it. I was too afraid for my first run through.
There are helmets without lanterns?!?!
>go down a rope and notice what it was
I wasn't so lucky.
In that area, some of the rooms can only be accessed by being caught on that and struggling out.
The game gives marulk's helmet right before the third layer, which is the best helmet when it comes to lights
So, you know what to do
Shame about grinding the relic armor, honestly it's pretty shit to grind materials for them, just do relic weapons and git gud at rolling
I wanted it mostly for the looks since I like the design, but it didnt take me long to grind, got everything in a single dive prior to that
Yeah I noticed after looking at the layout so eventually I will have to frick around and find out
This game fricks with my anxiety pretty bad and with my bad end fetish that developed from it so I get immersed pretty easily
>the premise for MiA was originally intended to be a e-girl doujin with a bit of action before it was repurposed into a manga
lmao I can't believe homosexuals were unironically arguing tsukushi isn't a fat pedophile
That's the side that's constantly trying to hide the fact they love dicky and come up with bullshit justifications.
I don't really care if he is at this point. MiA is great, but it's pure cope to argue the piss and stuff isn't a fricking fetish.
>germancucks crying about literally everything
seems about right for a country occupied by israelites
I know, but it can't be helped since people have to keep an image and reputation and they can't go out and about recommending something if their normalgay buddies learn about these facts, they always have to try as hard as possible to tell them "i-it's not like that". I'm honestly perfectly ok with his fetishes.
Not that guy and I am okay with Tsukushi's fetishes provided he keeps them 2D.
Eh, at this point I'm fine if he likes literally anything. And I mean, anything.
I'll allow his child addiction if he draws more erotic hags.
He's married aint he?
The naked crying kids strapped to the table from the inside cover of Volume 4 was a bit much though, let's be honest.
Yeah MiA really filters a whole lot of people.
based, now I need to read it
I had the first 10 volumes standing around for a while because I prefer reading finished mangas but that sounds too good to wait any longer.
Well what happened? What's going on in this sick page?
Character progression
So the kid generated a penis rather than had one damaged, then
the potato realizes pinocchio was a real boy all along
Tsukushi is, 100% a e-girlcon with the weirdest fetishes out there, he doesn't even try to hide it. Doesn't mean I can enjoy his works regardless because they are legitimately really good for different purposes.
aaaa where's the riko tentacle sex!!!!!!!!!!
great source bro.
tsukushi's own words
This moron coomer doesn't know what a doujinshi is and thinks it only applies to porn!
>it couldn't possibly be sexual, bro
>the man whose made a crossdressing shota doujin before is innocent!
>marulk being strung up naked with his puffy nipples sticking out IS NOT SEXUAL!!!! it's just world building, ok???!
>He thinks "doujin" only means hentai
Nice going, tourist
Its such a bot behavior too
Its not aimed at anyone, its just generic assault on the person because someone pays them to do it.
is this why these threads are full of made up quotes and other falseflags about the series?
Saves you the weight of all those balloons.
bigger tip, you could turn your camera away and run for maybe 10 seconds in a direction away from the pond and when you come back they'll respawn.
They should've had sex. It could've been their last day alive.
Our tater hould have used the dumb femboy as bait and high tailed it out of there
You think anybody is worthy of our boy Aki?
Post taters
Forgot this wasn't Ganker. But they're pretty easy to find by searching Mitty breasts on any Ganker archive.
>Aki is canonically male
>All the potential love interests are femboys
What did they mean by this?
>can wear a dress
>both voice actors are female
>is never referred to by sex
like, most main characters are men but who is going to come to my house and claim my character isn't a e-girl?
Dorothea isn't a femboy, homosexual
cat potato and bone dad
>playing Switch version
>jump over lilypad happily enjoying my adventure
>Height from the jump triggers the Curse animation and a monster spawns in on the other side that wasn't there before
>Screen shifts like normal as my character vomits heavily
>Jirou and the Orphanage Director flash into existence like phantoms watching me
>Horrifying fluffy masked creature with bloodstained spikes immediately starts to walk towards me
>Shortly after I regain control it one shots me and I watch my potato die, impaled and bleeding from every orifice
Nobody told me this was a horror game, what the frick. I was only prepared for emotional damage a second time through, not a heart attack.
The way they portrayed the curse of the abyss was very interesting. It's weird to see random NPCs appearing when you're high on abyss.
We are basically experiencing what the delvers go through.
>cyberpunk anime: bleak, dark series where the main character dies without doing anything of significant
>cyberpunk game: solo arasaka's HQ and adam smasher, probably will die too but actually go down as a legend and topple down one of the largest corporation on earth
>made in abyss series:bleak, dark series where characters die left and right
>made in abyss game: OC kun got from red whistle to white whistle in less than 1 month, make 2 of the strongest character kneel, able to descend into the abyss faster than the actual main character despite having no cheat robot and start months later than her
>Attack on Titan series: bleak, dark series where the main character is forced to do heinous shit to save his homeland
>Attack on Titan game: OC kun is giga roided Levi x100 despite being normal human
Why self insert games always have power fantasy pandering shit like this?
Why are ESL's so fricking braindead?
>power fantasy
>bad
Because not being able to do anything while Kirito_XxSh4d0w985 is running around with cheat code level abilities is lame as frick. People want to play as the cool characters or at least on their level, not a generic person who can barely fight anything. For example, imagine a Batman game but you only catch petty criminals and the actual named characters almost never show up.
Speaking of Kirito, Fatal Bullet's MC is also pretty OP dude that can rival him, right?
Made in OC is still a total no one that nobody remembers.
Aki the Unseen, Lord of Phantasms
The unsung white whistle...
But how is Aki getting salt down there? Is it from narehate and other delvers tears?
After months of searching to no avail Aki instead creates a relic that prints salt.
Raw meat
impossible, he'd drive everything with a tail extinct trying to sate his hunger
Every time an anon cries to the show or movie the salt from the tears reaches the bottom of the Abyss.
As if the Abyss itself had a will of it's own and reshaped the world for one final act of spite against it's greatest rival, the very deepest point in the abyss is filled with pillars upon pillars of salt to mock the journey made to reach this point.
AHHH IM GOING MAD!
Aki will be waiting at the bottom of the abyss atop a mountain of salt.
>start months later than her
Time dilation in the abyss makes it so the lower level you are, the slower time flows for you. By the time Riko reaches the 7th layer, Lyza would have probably been there for a year or 2 tops. You can easily catch up with anyone diving if you go straight down with no detours. Riko had plenty of detours.
The game spurred me to watch the anime and now I feel sad.
Which bits made you sad?
Mostly everything after they get the 4th.
Also them saying goodbye to their friends for the last time on the 1st.
Now watch the movie.
Nah, the show is sadder than the movie. By the time the movie hits, you're fully expecting it in every scene.
Honestly, I think Faputa is sadder than the movie. Better buildup.
you mean irumyuui. faputa was kind of one note and boring
Iru is boring and motivationless, her story is meaningless because the suffering is purely what you make of it. Faputa is an actual character.
There's no twist, the intro is just very linear and dull while the actual game is a lot more fun and open.
it's next on the list.
Welcome to the club.
Can Blaze Reap break and if it does, is it gone forever?
test, frick jannies
is relic armor useful
please tell me before i go and farm scales
It's the first cool armor set you get. Also, difficulty ramps up starting from the 3rd layer. If you wanna farm less, don't get the helmet, because it doesn't have a light, and you'll need that. Unless you don't mind carrying a torch around that is.
Why does this game have gore. It's so bizarre. Dev definitely had a fetish, right?
>Why does this game have gore
People die if they are killed.
What is it that makes this game so good anyway? It obviously has a lot of glaring flaws and is not everybody's cup of tea, but it's still very fun to play somehow.
Everyone says it gets interesting in the second mode
Come on, what is the twist
Is it worth buying or not
The least they could have done is make Bondrewd the final boss ffs
Did you really just spoil the final boss for yourself before even knowing what kind of game it is? What drives a man to do this?
I have no idea what the final boss is but I heard that it ends at the third layer, so it's definitely not Bon
If I had to guess, it'll be some cringe OC character. How close am I?
You mean the boss of the abyssmal tutorial mode? There is none, it just ends at the end of second layer and you finally get to play the actual game.
>Binary star
FRICKING THRANSPHOBES REEEEE BOYCOTT THIS GAME!!!
Sex with Aki!
Do not sexualise your own potato
Where's the Reg Hugging Simulator mode? It's those eyes. These animators know how to trigger my hug instincts.
Reg either made me gay or activated my fatherly instincts to protect & hug
I hope it's the latter
For me it's definitely the latter. It was Marulk who did the former.
>Marulk
Fugg.
WHY DOES FAPUTA HAVE ROBOT EYES
WHY IS THERE A COMPASS INSIDE THE CRADLE OF MIRACLE
>ROBOT
Lol. Lmao, even.
There are no robots in the abyss. Never have been, never will. Reg's immune to the curse because he's already hit max curse status.
What is Gaburoon
Human soul fused to metal.
>different whistles make different sounds
Just another peek into what the game was supposed to be.
You can blow your whistle?
Yes, you need to blow your Moon Whistle for some stuff to happen
It's a prompt in the world, however
You have accidentally ruined my night, friend. I thought I missed a control somewhere and I'd be able to spam my whistle non stop while wandering the Abyss or waiting for things like stamina/curse regen
link to mods ,please.
I always thought half the appeal of this game would be playing as reg and unlocking shit while having to manage the girl. Along with having an oh shit button with the cannon but then having to switch to playing the girl after reg feints.
Playing as Reg and babysitting Riko is just NotIco. Playing as Reg on his own is just NotMegaman.
Not him, but at first I thought the idea was kino but reading your post made me realize it'd be just bad.
You'd give Riko has all the exploring skills and finding shit skills etc. and then Reg is the escort. People who play as Reg get to fight and beat up shit, people who play as Riko get to explore and find relics.
Running away from every threat isn't that fun.
IT'S ALIENS.
It has to be, there's no other way to explain this shit.
>Giant hole caused by ayylmao spaceship crash-landing
>All the animals carried Noah's Ark style got out and are the Abyss monsters
>The force field is due to radiation/nanomachines
>Interference units were the helpers/running the ship during hypersleep
>Relics are weird alium tech
Pretty sure the ship is supposed to be the airship they tried to fly down there and failed.
If it's ALIENS then I'll be sure that Tsukushi took a lot of inspiration from Roadside Picnic.
Ackshually, the front was build AFTER the Ganja suicide corps descended, no idea by who
No it wasnt, Ido front was still there during the ganja flashback, the only difference shown is the pathway to the last dive orb
Don't they just show the ritual site/elevator? I didn't think you could tell if there was any part of ido front (or what it was built on) either way.
No it was not dummy
It was there in the anime
Could have been an oopsie, however
This is from the first episode during the flashback, around 16 minutes in
Thanks anon, I couldn't remember if it happened in the anime and was about to check. I just knew the manga avoided it.
It's gonna be a rip-off of Megaman Legends where there's a super robot mastermind at the bottom who's running experiments on Orth and is about to push the reset button.
I'm hoping for some more eldritch abomination, Lovecraftian reasons for the abyss existing
Or all three if it was a spaceship with a gravity drive lol
>makes the "Star" Compass which is literally
*makes the "Star" Compass literal
It does seem like Abyss is some sort of eldritch abomination that prays on human souls. I kinda doubt it will be the case though
I hope the "point" of the abyss is left open ended even if the major mysteries are solved. The abyss is here, it's doing shit to humans, but there's no why, just the effects of it.
That's the kind of stuff I like in sci-fi, an alien force with motivations that can be theorized, but not proven. For all the reader knows, it can be a knowing malevolent force acting to trap people within it, or it could be grug the robot smashing beetles with a rock for no particular reason, maybe it likes the sound when humans turn into shiny rocks.
not this reddit homosexual again lmao what about you stick to dilating your flesh wound instead
>Ido Front on the 5th layer
>A full ass ship stuck in a cliffside on the third layer
>Praying skeletons and weird tribal shit and windmills and primitive shit on the first layer.
>Probably consumed every civilization that settled there
This has been debunked
This game makes me really sad we didn't get Mega Man Legends 3
I've been on the 3rd Layer for days.
Holy shit this game is so much fun. So fricking hard. I can't see absolutely shit inside those tunnels and keep getting lost.
I guess it really was worth $60 in the end. The only thing that really grinds my gears is getting body blocked by 2~4 of those bugs that keep respawning on my back.
ye
Should I just come back later?
you could loop her by baiting her grab. hit her two times with your pickaxe, walk away and bait her grab, walk back in and hit two times and repeat. you'll need at least 3 relic pickaxes to beat her, but it's worth it because her reward is insanely good.
And how many hours would this take? With no breathing room for mistakes, either.
Tall Brutal Mommy is a scary enemy.
prob like 3 minutes. if you get thrown up into the air she doesn't attack again until after the effect has stopped so you can just eat and heal during that time. idk to me it doesn't really feel like she actually goes all out on OC potat.
Are the respawning enemies really that big of a deal? I literally only had trouble with it on my first ever trip when I was on level 1 with one or two pickaxes and didn't understand the mechanic.
They aren't.
Just shoot her 100 times until she dies, it's a pretty easy fight.
They are only useful if you want to farm bug/bird meat en masse. If you are a scenerygay like me, it's just annyoing shit preventing you from enjoying your tater's butt while rappeling.
They have genuinely important gameplay purposes but I can respect that you just wanna look at stuff and aren't making shit up to justify turning it off like the tedious casuals we mostly get
For me it's the arm breaking scene
What's up with the Orb Piercer before the Riko sidequest marker? No matter what I do he just instantly targets me with a lightning speed guaranteed 1 shot and I can't get past at all because the thing is psychic.
Sometimes you can get past him.
isn't there supposed to be some update coming out?
AFAIK, there's going to be one single balance/bugfix patch soon, and that's it for post-launch support
How does the silk spider in 1st layer fight work? I didn't have any trouble during the quest fight but now as soon as I approach him I get one shot.
The silk threads paralyze you, and it jumps towards you and swipe at you. It's literally only dangerous from the front though, so approaching it from the side is completely safe.
>sneak past the Orb Piercer by pure chance because it's AI bugged out
>"lmao sorry buddy, let's head back up to the start of the 4th Layer.
Mitty in a pot!
Is there an incantation to turn her back into the titty monster she once was?
titty mitty is gone forever.
You have to ascend on the 9th layer. If you ascend as a human you fricking explode.
Really wish Tsukushi didn't force this whole Mitty tear jerker shit.
It's happened twice.
Exactly, so forcing it. Once was enough.
Please explain how there are 2 Mittys
I read the manga AND watched the anime and I still don't get it lmao
>that didn't exist yet
what?
Anon, i think you need to watch the whole season again, belaf wanted to have mitty since she was immortal and basically was infinite food, bonddad didn't want to trade since she was one of a kinda so belaf paid extra for the village to make an exact copy of it, it's as simple as that.
They literally explain it, please watch the anime slower.
How can the village just make shit
Couldn't you trade anything to the village and get anything, like I say I'll trade myself for a magic item that nullifies the curse, boom, problem solved
Also how did Bondrewd get back up from the village layer, obviously he can transfer bodies but can he do it between layers? If he can do that why isn't he perpetually on the surface as well as in the abyss? What's the range on his consciousness transference, can he die if he has no bodies to transfer into?
No, the village can create shit, but it can only exist there.
Bondrew literally split Mitty in half and the village just healed one of the halfs to make her whole, thats why Nanachi's Mitty only has an eye, its the half that had to heal by herself
Happy?
I thought Mitty lost an eye in one of Nanachi's attempts to permanently kill her
moron, go die
They litteraly explain that village mitty is a copy of mitty before bon's experiments, that's what cause her to deform, idk wtf that guy is on about
No?
Her missing eye is because Bondrewd used Sparagmos while testing, which, like Reg's Incinerator, can't be regenerated
Mitty is immortal, but if her body gets mangled enough, she stays mangled after regenerating
bondrewd probably just switched bodies, all the umbra hands are him after all
>If he can do that why isn't he perpetually on the surface as well as in the abyss
he has umbra hands everywhere, but only one stays in the bondrewd form at a time.
>What's the range on his consciousness transference
that's not how it works
>can he die if he has no bodies to transfer into?
Yes, technically he's already dead.
Agreed but I was being conservative, consider the "or more" in that sentence generously.
>might have been a decade or more ago given Nanachi's collection of delver graves.
Lol ok moron
(You)'re a dumb homosexual, happy?
There's dozens of them and they're all overgrown with moss so it's been a while since the last one prior to Riko. Her yard looks like fricking Bloodborne.
And these are all people she found dying. I dunno how many people you think visit the 4th layer but she's been at this a while.
And I think it might be even more extreme in the manga but you didn't even deserve this much of a response so I ain't checking.
Every girl in the abyss should receive the blessing
Unironically what the frick was the point of Vueko?
>what the frick was the point of Vueko?
She brought the girl who saved the delvers and gave birth to faputa who will now help the MC. It's all about accumulation.
>gave birth to faputa who will now help the MC
Then why is Faputa saying that the creatures in the village are eating her mothers body if Vueko is alive and well?
>t. Wazukyan
Awakening the messy girl fetish in me.
moron
She cute
Furry Ozen for the win.
Would hit to many with the curse.
friendship won in the end though
I can't get mad at this game. Whenever I die to some janky shit my imagination somehow covers it and I think "yep that is how a kid would randomly die in the Abyss" and I just laugh.
I finished S1 and yeah, that shit hit me a little bit
Is this more of an adventure game or a survival game like Don't Starve?
*right click*
Noo anon don't do it aha...
What the frick anon
I'm very lonely... 🙁
Try robbing a store
Its fast way to make friends
It's an epic adventure simulator that uses survival elements to let you get yourself into trouble that turn into a whole saga to extract yourself from.
You don't have to scrounge food every 20 seconds like that game if that's what you mean. It's mostly about packing what you need and planning for contingencies; survival stuff comes in mainly when you're trying to push your luck or overextend.
Shouldn't Prushka be the player character if fapping is an action?
Finished watching the new episode, honestly this is the first one that i can say with confidence that it was better in the manga... the 3d, the fight with belaf being just stills and the gore being simplified, i already expected these things to be fair, but yeah...
This was cool however
Poor moth took a lot of damage.
She'll be fine sozu
I'm mixed, the manga and anime go together so well because they do different things better. This episode is the flip side of what the anime has been doing such a good job of in rendering the (previously confusing) action in a more concrete way because Faputa getting fricked up probably works better when you're filling in the blanks.
But they can't all be mindblowing, this wasn't exactly a climactic beat in the first place.
>being just stills
iirc the manga is mostly stills too lol
too much flashback and innerdialog for it, ultimately felt like a massively padded episode where nothing happened
Why are the NPCs following you repeat the same 1 or 2 lines over and over again every 2 seconds? What kind of a demented mind figured this was needed?
I did, if they stopped talking then I would only hear the silence again
>watched the death scenes video
>think this bird is gonna frick me up
>dies to one arrow
>later meet snibeti snab at stone ark
>expect to fight for my life
>dies to a bunch of arrows
How the hell do I get to the last area in layer 2 (updraft valley or something judging from the quest log). I see no "???" exists on any map.
In Heaven's Waterfall, where the entry to the 3rd layer is, if you decide to climb the cliff down instead, you will see a hole in the rock that leads to Updraft Wasteland
You will be glad to know about this place for later
Yes you do, look harder. Climb down the cliff instead of jumping down the hole.
Orth children are built different.
aki can read the force field like orb piercers can hence why orb piercers can't predict akis movements because it's a constant 4D chess battle between both of them before they even strike.
quite literally the most powerful being in the abyss.
Are (you) the player canon? That could be why orby cant read Aki's movements, because he's getting orders from you, like Reg from Nanachi
Powerful potato
>closes eyes as a show of dominance
FACT: potats are the most powerful race in the world.
Is this achievable natty?
Bring salt. Keep your electrolytes up.
Aki is a freak but maybe it's like that movie Unbreakable where if you throw a thousand kids into the abyss to die you're bound to find a superhero eventually.
Would have been a cool-ass reveal if you'd pulled a relic out of your own eye at the end.
h-he's fast!
I love the relaxed blinking, Aki is completely unphased by this storm of spikes.

Nanachi doesn't like Reg, a BOY touching her, doesn't mind Riko, a GIRL. Nanachi is a girl.
Turning into a furry doesn't change your gender.
Is there a quick way up through the third layer coming back from the fourth?
glass layer > go to room with the crimson splitjaw > climb up walls to get ontop and blow whistle > proceed to the slightly shorter route(still long)
Apparently they're selling these kinda plastic stands
UUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH
RIKO EROTIC!!!!!!11!!1!!1!!
I WANT TO SEE RIKO'S SEXY BACK AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
No Maruruk no buy.
Jesus even when she's naked in the manga she's not that sexed up.
All the others are on-model, Nanachi's one is simply funny, but Riko's just jarring.
The main heroine has to have something going for her against the usurpers.
RIKO'S budding rikos!!!!!
Dakimakura actually
Riko is super erotic in that.
Riko's not that big. She's not a Nullarbor Plain relief map like Nanachi, but those are Prushka's breasts, not Riko's. Also you can tell they hired one guy to design all of these who only drew Reg because he was told he had to.
>ANATOMICALLY FLAT
slightly rude
>those are Prushka's breasts, not Riko's.
I think that's meant to be her clothes hanging down, not her actual breasts. But yes she's very off-model.
Riko's built like a slightly used tube of those tiny toothpastes you get on long flights.
Where the FRICK do I get Limber Scales?
Fishing in the 2nd and 3rd layer, and later in the 5th layer by killing jellyfish.
No, those are one of the relics that are not used to craft anything
small smooth fish in 2rd layer (not demonfish)
Kiyui can give you a couple too
Edge of the Abyss is probably the easiest, there's 4 in there and you can just dip out to reset it.
Honestly not worth grinding for though unless you need em for a weapon or something though. Won't help that much in the next stretch of the game and it's super easy to get the next tier by fishing hard scales in Nanachi's back yard.
Whatever you do don't make the relic helmet, either way.
5th layer but you spend way the frick more time enjoying areas the series speedran.
No.
If there's a tiny bone icon that means it's a crafting material FYI. Bosoms aren't iirc.
What happens when you reach the bottom of the fifth layer?
Shortcut back to Orth lol
Canonically you descend (after getting your white whistle and maybe some revenge) and the credits roll.
What's the max depth in the game?
should i keep the princess bosom relics? are they used for anything?
Is it bad that none of this shit fazes me? I see people going all about how this shit goes a little bit too far but I'm not exactly finding it any less fun
No, most of the people who complain just want attention
No, the series is a masterpiece and pretty much everything is justified by the drama.
We've just had an infestation of superficial pearl-clutching reddit homosexuals lately. You never saw this shit in MiA threads back in 2017 or whatever.

Bah gawd! Bah gawd! Riko is beating beaten like a government mule!
do you unlock some kind of fast travel at some point? Im enjoying the game but it gets a bit frustrating having to climb all the way back up. Its not even difficult, just tedious
Yes, you get to fast travel when you get a Blue Whistle
nice
thx
Yes. The game doesn't tell you when you do though, you'll have to figure it out by yourself.
You can be poisoned, at least with the blue/red poison, but making the trip cost health and hunger if you don't have enough you won't be able to travel
>webm
Are there some good vore death animations in this game? Asking for a tomodachi.
You can get swallowed whole by that giant slug thing from the first episode Crimson Splitjaws but I think you are dead before it actually swallows you.
>The Cave Raider descended towards the bottom of the abyss on their last dive.
>Beginning a final journey of no return
>That cave raider would be later called the white whistle of mirages
>The sovereign of phantasm. BumBum the unseen
Any boss related deaths? something like getting gangway'd
>Whoa a secret room
>it's just a shit texture
I also found on the rope skill upgrade it says you can eat/drink while on rope even though there's no drinking.
I really hope modders can salvage the cut content somehow.
Antidotes are drunk
I'm pretty sure they are like candy, not a liquid
A lot of skill descriptions are some ESL budget translator shit, particularly the gathering ones which are way better than they sound. Also "healing speed" affects food too.
But what
said.
I think the "cut features" headcanon is way overblown but I'm looking forward to modding the frick out the game a year from now with the stuff people are inspired to add due to that meme regardless.
Camping and food prep would be nice. Like allowing you to eat food raw vs. cooking and seasoning it, portioning it and storing it so it doesn't rot.
>I think the "cut features" headcanon is way overblown
The datamine clearly shows it is still in. tbh enabling it would break the game I think
I'm at the bottom of the third layer and I'm out of salt and have 1 survival steak and 1 demonfish soup. I think I might be screwed unless I can find lots of pancake rats on the way up. Remember guys, when you pack salt and think you have enough... pack more salt. Don't be like me.
I think walking doesn't consume your hunger, so I guess you'll have to slowly make your way up
Is this really true? I will try it when I get back to my game. Sounds hilariously painful but it's the price I pay for my relic greed
it doesn't cost any stamina to bust a cap.
>Try the first season of the animu at least
I think I will do this. I thought the anime was much longer running than it is.
>Enter Cold Heat Layer
>Lots of lava
>Great I guess those fricking butterflies can't live here
>Start climbing the walls
>Butterfly appears
For fricks sake
So it's my first time at 2nd layer as Aki and I reached seeker's camp. The monkeys fight used up all my weapons and I'm left with 1 basic hatchet and no materials to make more. Should I track all the way back the way I came from (through hell's crossing) or try my luck further for some magical faster way back?
Go back into Hell's Crossing and take the immediate exit to the right into Inverted Arbor, then the nearest exit from there on the suspended walkway will take you to Corpse Weeper's Den. You'll need 1 rope then you're free.
Thanks I'll try that
I'm a Blue Whistle shitter and I want to kill a corpse weeper for fun, do I stand a chance? And what should I fight it with.
easy man, you just need 2 bows and like 20 blue arrows and it will go down.
When it flies down, dodge it, and shoot it, that will make it go back up in the sky instead of continuing to attack you.
What determines ropes disappearing?
>Backtrack from 2nd layer early in the game
>All my ropes in the first layer disappear
>Fricking around in 5th layer for a while after completing the black whistle trial
>Time to go back
>All my ropes in the 4th and 3rd layer are still intact
?????
Maybe the man toyers ate them. Watch out for those frickers.
Never forget what they took from us
he didn't say that
>ywn be raised at Belchero orphanage
Why even live
But,
cool
Yeah, to me it feels like it's magnified by depth level or player level or something. Last time I dove I brought 40 boiled eggs along with the salt and such, but it still wasn't enough to avoid a panic situation.
When I was fighting the thing at the end of layer 3 I had to keep eating because I had to jump to deal damage to it. I must have consumed at least 150% of a full satiety bar just in that fight, which doesn't make any sense to me. I even tried to use a blue poison antidote to make sure it just wasn't visible for some reason, but nope.
Maybe there's some bug, because I have nothing like
>climb down a cliff face
>4 fricking squirrels at the bottom waiting to rape me
>try to heal
>spawns 2 squirrels right behind me
>constantly breaking hatchets because a butterfly appears behind you every 3 seconds
>dont even try climbing to avoid them, because if one is above you you might as well be climbing right into a cliff head
>oh and every 3 ft you climb might give you the shits
Dumbass.
how come reg can punch whatsername but fisticuffs arent allowed to orphans
Post potats.
>Aki
You cant change your OC's name?
You can.
We still refer to Link as Link even though you can call your save file whatever you want.
Does Spikes games mod friendly?
Deciding between switch or steam
It's an Unreal Engine game so it can be modded, but whether or not anyone wants to do it remains to be seen. UE Modding is too much of a headache for me personally.
It's a good Switch game and designed for controllers so I'd go with that so you have a reason to blow the dust off your Switch.
Then pirate the PC version a year from now when there's actually a bunch of mods.
The only one currently that isn't a casual cheat mode is a music replacement. The in-game music is fine though (it's just not the anime OST). 3rd layer's pretty catchy imo
AHHHH HOW DO I FEED NANACHI
WHY DID SHE SAY MY SASHIMI TASTED LIKE SHIT
honestly i cheated and just kept bringing her the shop lady's beef bowls, she loves them. i just brought a bowl with me every time i went to visit nanachi
i do wonder which of your homecooked salted meals she loves though
I want to frick Ozen so bad, it's ridiculous.
You're chilling in a comfy island town when suddenly this thing appears and invites you to an adventure into literal hell.
What do you do?
If I'm an incredibly deadly robot in this scenario who just had my dumbass memory wiped I guess I'd have no reason to refuse.
Otherwise I'd probably think she looks kinda slow and call the vegetable protection agency before she hurts herself.
Can you iframe the Tachinkatana shockwaves? Seemed really hard
Orth was canonically evacuated, right? It's definitely becoming the new first layer.
>Water Crystals 1
How the frick am I supposed to be get out of here?
do a flip.
RIP
if you came up to get there and didn't set ropes earlier you can't afaik
just go back and leave through hail jail->eternal fortune garden or whatever
not unless it's growing downward.
the praying skeletons in volume 1 are 2000 years old but in a later chapter Nat explains they found more underneath that are 4000 and 6000 years old
what's reddit? is that some website you like?
Nvm I found the way out
>just go back and leave through hail jail->eternal fortune garden or whatever
I know what you mean but I wasn't stuck at that part, you can see I'm in the middle of the map
>deep in
>extremely large zone
>suddenly like 7 ropes required in a row
>only have 6
>1/2 vines to make another rope
>half an hour wasted
Are the relic pickaxe and hatchet worth making once you get access to relic crafting?
Do they have better durability than a long hatchet Ex?
Oh I didn't even look at the minimap since there's a couple variants of that area (like the first area of 4th layer).
I recognise that one though, I'd tell you where to go but now I don't need to.
I'm just starting (lv 15 red whistle) is it Ok to buy a gun or is preferably to stick to the pickaxe and machete?
You need a gun so you can fire flash bullets, which will distract most small threats
Guns are extremely powerful later on, while bows are a bit more forgiving earlier. You don't need either but they can be occasionally useful, mainly for boss-type things.
Tsukushi's worldbuilding is fascinating, you can tell this man is well read in STEM and human history.
The field of eternal fortunes is disappointing, it should've been way bigger
So is this actually good?
Tutorial is dogshit. Career mode owns bones.
Surprising right
it's a 6/10 game that has the soul of a 9/10 game. It's not "good" but if it features things that you like in games you won't really care whether it is or isn't.
Yeah, the rope climbing animation is just bugged get it?. If there's a butterfly anywhere near you when you try to go up the ledge you just teleport backwards a couple feet and fall back down to the bottom, but it doesn't even count as falling most of the time and you don't take damage.
yeah you just stand still in the air as you go down, and don't start the falling animation until you go down a ways.
I've fallen like 30 feet like that and still not taken damage, it seems to be something about bugs messing with the height calculation, like maybe if it tries to use the bug as your last position to calculate fall damage it just always gets 0.
huh, last time i did get damage, but then i tried to move around while falling, maybe that did it.
basically. Someone posted a speed run vid a while back, and it seems like if you jump on a dead enemy on a cliff, you can use it glitch out fall damage, and descend VERY quickly through layers
so it happened to me a second time now, dunno if it's related to being under the curse, but if you rush up a rope ( and maybe being affected by curse? ) and get hit by one of those orange butterflies just as you're supposed to be climbing up the ledge, your character just lets go and you fall down.
I'm not disagreeing, I just don't think it's a big enough deal to pick guns.
But I do think guns fricking rule though once you upgrade the skills a bit so I'd recommend taking guns anyway.
I guess the advice is to try it out and see if it's something he'd make use of.
Another successful cave raid with the eternal Gas Spore bug now on the 4th + 5th layer, sadly some foreign cave raiders ruined it
You want a game where you do fetch quests all day until you retire? Where's the fun in that?
How would you compare this game to The Long Dark?
I'd say frick you, also eat shit and die.
It also doesn't suck ass.
Any games that kind of fit the vibe of Made in Abyss? I like the whole "expeditions to gather gear to go even further" thing it has going on.
I'm a huge dork for similar genres and I can't think of any I'd compare to this game.
But if you just mean the source material, idk and the thread'll die by the time I think about it.
Terraria kind of fits the bill if you go with the "dig down to find gear" but nothing feels as raw and dangerous as Made in Abyss.
I almost said that as a joke haha
Yeah there's a lot if you interpret the question broadly but I'm trying to think of things that fit the vibe.
>nothing feels as raw and dangerous as Made in Abyss
there's roguelikes I guess, off the top of my head
iirc shit like aangband has you returning to the surface all the time but I might be mixing that one up with another
downside being they range from zero worldbuilding to incredibly autistic shit that's never worth reading so there's still no real atmosphere besides danger
that one PS5 game with the cover art that looks like an Alien ripoff maybe
Returnal, that's it
mind recommendation but i'm rushing because thread dead
*mild
Nothing. This is the new 'Strand' genre.
Almost every survival game ever before you hit the automated/established phase.
