>Main character is a literal schizo that sees life as a video game
Has there ever been a more based MC?
yeah, Yakuza 0
0fags are so cringe
Better than 5tards
playin that rn and I gotta say it's fun currently in chap 3 just after learning to fight from the old guy
the first 4 chapters are usually the hardest for newfags to get into but it flies into flavor town after that. You're in for a wild ride.
>Yakuza 0
shit sux
>MY LIFE IS LIKE A VIDEOGAME!!!!
May I present to you: Autistic Gigachad?
Its hard to change the protagonist after so many games but they really nailed it. Both Kiryu and Ichiban are amazing
absolute peak Kiryu, dragon engine alien needs no apply
He is so cute bros
Dragon Engine Kiryu's irises are simply too large that makes him look a bit weird
Unironically couldn't pick just one. He's perfect in both images.
I really hate how Dragon Engine makes it look like everyone's skin is covered with a thin layer of vaseline. Yakuza's 5 gritty faces were the best.
Yakuza 5 makes everyone looks like they're going to cry at any second
Yeah I liked the style of 3 to 5 for the characters, even though in 3 looked like they were made of plasticine
what is it about his Y5 coat that makes him look so amazing? I love it
Kiryu can literally make any look work, even a drab grey coat.
Why is Y5 literally the only game where he gets a unique outfit? (unless you count him dressing down to his shirt in Y6 which was also pretty sweet)
Y3skipperbro...
oh yeah hawaii kiryu, but fuck yakuza 3
Y0, Y3, Y5, Y6 (no jacket), Y7 (black suit)
He had a blue jacket in the Yakuza 6 demo too if that counts
is it not in the full game? wtf
>Asexual** Gigachad
FTFY. You're welcome.
Kiryu is canon Asexual, BTW.
have a nice day
Do you think it's a good idea to keep using Ichiban even after Yakuza 7? I'm afraid Sega may ruin him
I liked Ichiban a lot, so I wouldn't mind more games with him as the lead, though I'm hoping 8 will be the only game where Kiryu is actively hanging around him. Gotta let the new protag stand on his own two feet. Wouldn't mind having him back at the orphanage and occasionally popping up, but that's about it.
I think it was a mistake to bring kiryu back, ichiban is good enough to be a new protag
It's more a mistake to bring Kiryu back fucking AGAIN, for both this game and his Gaiden Spinoff, after saying 6 was going to be his final story repeatedly. There's tons more for Ichiban and his scooby gang.
They don't directly meet at any point in 0.
Kiryu doesn't know Majima exists at all.
Majima is given Kiryu's business card by Sera after their fight and is assured by Sera that Makoto is in safe hands. The fact that Makoto was returned to Majima unharmed later on shows that Majima can trust Kiryu or at least can respect him for keeping her safe.
The final cutscene of 0 is a time skip to imply that they had already met prior and had known each other for a while. 1 itself implies they already knew each other for a while before their first encounter in 1 because Kiryu knows Majima by sight and Majima already has a pet name for Kiryu.
Actually, one addendum. Didn't Nishiki tell Kiryu he was attacked by a guy with an eyepatch in the final chapter when Kiryu is asking why Nishiki was injured? So Kiryu might know Majima exists but I don't believe he ever told Nishiki or Reina who he was.
It's been a while but he probably did. No reason for Nishiki to withhold that information from Kiryu.
Would've been fine with OG Ichi too. I don't think he would've been characterized as so chill and openly kind-hearted if he had that rougher look, but I think the same essence would've been there.
Nishiki did get his ass kicked by Majima, who also introduced himself first. Nishiki then tells Kiryu that Majima showed up looking for Makoto
One of the little disappointments I had with 0 was that last cutscene didn't lead into Kiryu and Majima's first round against each other, with you choosing who to play as.
What if we got original Ichi instead?
He actually looks his age here, and the hair actually looks damaged. More fitting to his description, but hard to imagine the same level of enthusiasm from him.
now he looks his age. you now remember ichiban is a 44 year old bum on the streets in the game.
For me, it's Akiyama
he shouldve been the one holding the torch to be honest. all that character building and they fucked it up by making a new one
That was the plan, the game name is literally Yakuza 4: The Successor to the Legend. Probably VA related since Yokoyama mentioned they nearly failed to get Yamadera for the role, and they were hell-bent on getting Yamadera since Akiyama is heavily inspired by Spike.
that's why akiyama fought the final boss isn't it
>Akiyama doesn't get his own off-shoot like Judgment
It's not fair
this guy is a mary sue, fuck this guy
>lazy as fuck and shown on screen to be notoriously unproductive
>but can still beat up most of kamurocho's fighting population
>somehow can earn billions of yen in an extremely short amount of time
at least with the other protagonists there are in-universe reasons why they are disproportionately more powerful in fighting others
>Getting filtered by Akiyama
>liking someone with practically no flaws
lmao
>The ex-homeless Tae Kwon Do guy that actually wheezes and doubles over when running because he's a nicotine addict who's made it as far as he has off a cracked Charisma stat is the Mary Sue
>Not the parry cop in the same game who gets the true final boss battle and got politicked by his pretty boy coke-addict face-capture actor into not doing anything fun like karaoke
Ok
Saejima also didn't do karaoke in 4. Thankfully that was rectified in later games, since he's got a great voice for it.
I'm of the opinion that any actor that either cannot or will not sing for karaoke should be filtered out in the audition process. It's so synonomous with the series at this point to be left out. Judgment just doesn't hit the same without it.
His flaw is simping for Saejima's retarded sister
He was the golden boy at a prestigious bank with a good degree, went homeless for a bit, almost got his ass kicked by generic punks, then was saved by Arai and taught to fight by him.
He already had a financial background, and all his money is made day trading. In 4 he barely deals with anything beyond low level gangs, it's only after that experience and later on in 5 that he's considered especially strong.
He has more going for him to be strong/successful than Yagami. And it's not like Kiryu, Majima, or Saejima are strong for any reason in 0/pre-0 beyond they just are.
>calling Akiyama a Mary Sue when Kiryu, the man with no flaws who's literally the strongest man on earth for no adequately explored reason has been the protagonist since day 1
Is he still pursuing his lost baseball dream?
>doing the post card substories in 0
>Kiryu/Majima are excited over 1mil yen
>have 9 trillion already
>Carrying around 50 billion yen
>Kiryu nearly shits his pants when Tachibana offers Nihara a billion in exchange for his life
>Shinada talking about how he's dirt poor and only has 42 yen to his name.
>When I beat a Platinum Plate out of a guy 2 minutes into his part.
>Ichiban talking about how 3 million will be impossible money to obtain.
>When I've had like 30 mil in my pocket for at least 15 hours.
Are there any games that do dirt-poor protagonists well while still being fun? In most GTA games for example you supposedly come from the streets but you never feel like you can't afford things, you never have less than 10 grand in your pocket and getting money is very easy.
>Kiryu/Majima becoming multibillionaires from running their cabaret clubs for a couple days
>from running their cabaret clubs for a couple days
More like from cheesing Mr Shakedown
>nishiki asks kiryu to buy steak
>he tells him he doesn't have much despite having ¥300 billion
This part always gets me along with tachibana running over kuze kek
kiryu’s suit clearly costs all of his money so he had nothing at the end of 0
>Implying he didn't spend all his money on 100 matching grey-white suits and red shirts
>Ichiban picking up cans in the minigame and trading them for shit
>Despite having 30 million in the bank because of the confections
>Ichiban still sleeping with the homeless even though I found a gold plate worth 100k under a vending machine earlier
Ichiban isn't the smartest guy. He's picking up cans and sleeping with the homeless probably without even realizing he's a multi-millionaire.
Don't you have to collect literal cockroaches for certain weapon upgrades
>he hasn't experienced the power of Cockroachium Z
Yes. Bottlecaps are also used to upgrade your weapons to the best tier alongside random mythical ores or golden insects.
>Entire Tojo clan freaks the fuck out over losing 10 billion yen
>A real estate owner back in the 80s can make that much in a few collection runs
I don't get what the big deal is, the Tojo clan already own all the Kamurocho so they should be printing money.
The 80's were different because there was the bubble and everyone was making money left and right. That's put in your face the entire time in 0. The bubble popped afterwards and the economy crashed which made the 10bil worth a lot more in 1.
>comparing 80's Japanese economy to 2000's post-bubble Japan
The game pretty much spells it out for you.
I wish the game at least acknowledged this. I know why the real estate and cabaret club minigames are subject to "story & gameplay segregation" but you're still introduced to them through the canon story.
>Kiryu needs a hideout
>You're blocked from entering the office building, Kiryu has a thought to himself that they'd know to look for him there and he doesn't want to trouble Marina and Yamanoi.
>Majima needs 500m
>The money technically belongs to the Sunshine and he can't transfer it to the Grand, or just a subtle acknowledgement of the fact that the money isn't going to solve his problems because Sagawa is just going to take it and ask for double.
just try to imagine the whole cabaret/real estate business takes place on a seperate timeline, yakuza games are notoriously shitty at connecting gameplay-narrative moments
>just try to imagine the whole cabaret/real estate business takes place on a seperate timeline
But that's wrong, Majima and Kiryu both explicitly acknowledge it in Kiwami 1/2.
What are your hopes for Ichiban going forward, kyoudais?
Just that he gets an unambiguously happy ending when his story is over.
If Kaito did it, so can he.
That RGG retires Kiryu fully by the 9th game and stop being schizo about being afraid that the series fails if they let Kiruy go.
That he gets dropped for Akiyama, who is the exact same character but done well.
I hope the explanation for him being level one again in the next game is that he spend the entire period between 7 and 8 catching up on all the Dragon Quest games he missed.
Thats just another faucet of screen brain
I wish they sort of dwelled on this more ingame. They bring it up like twice. Then never again. Like it happens at the start of the game when get gets his sword. And then again with Kiryu when you beat him. Its weird. It felt like there was supposed to be more to it.
>Bleach Japan
Can't believe they made a group for people who have yellow fever
>Game gracefully passes the torch without having to shit on older characters. Older characters still look badass while doing so.
I wish more pieces of media would follow this instead of having to shit on the old characters to make the new ones look good.
Deadpool.
8 better be a really good JRPG
7 was a huge pile of shit that clearly needed much more time, also Yokohama sucks
If it’s another middling RPG then it’ll reinforce that they shouldn’t have bothered with the genre change
I don't know if I'd call it a huge pile of shit. I thought it was just a bit too basic, felt almost like an older dragon quest title without all the fun exploration and item discovery.
>also Yokohama sucks
Yokohama was made way better in LJ because they shifted some stores, made the top half not so barren, added in Seiryo which made the top-left feel way more realized, and added the skateboard. I still stand by the skateboard being the best addition to general movement since sprinting, it's so fun and so convenient.
>have to constantly dismount from the skateboard to pick up materials on the sidewalk
haha yeah...the skateboard is so cool...
I can deal with that if it means getting around the entire town twice as fast and getting to do sick short hops over a sidewalk.
I liked 7 since the story is pretty good, but its combat would greatly benefit from being less forgiving and more strategy oriented, I've seen streamers bullshit their way through the entire game since the inventory is infinite and status effects barely matter unless you are playing on legendary difficulty.
Pick your wife
Yuzu, Chika and Kirara
They really did aika dirty.
I'm in that camp where I don't even dislike game Aika, I think she's hot in her own way, but yeah, she looks nothing like her IRL self.
She did herself dirty with all the shitty plastic surgery.
Where's best girl Yuki?
Yuki doesn't have an IRL counterpart, so she's missing from that image.
why did they take the same girl and try to make her look different in 30 diff ways?
Because she's asian
>that AIKA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I'm in the camp that game AIKA isn't even all that bad, she's hot in her own way, but yeah, not even close to the real deal.
I was actually sad to learn she's a common escort now and you can just pay to bone her at a soap land
I guess this is how idol purityfags feel
>I was actually sad to learn she's a common escort now and you can just pay to bone her at a soap land
I'm not sad at all anon
Are you a Moonman? She won't fuck gaijin or that's just what they say to keep the nogs out and she WILL fuck white people, who the fuck knows
Also sort of unrelated, but when trying to find her site I found
http://bunny-g.eroticguide.tokyo/#today
and all the girls are 30. I thought the Nips hated 'cakes' or this just an amazingly based shop?
if you throw enough money at people they'll fuck anyone
Body of a fertility goddess. How did Kiryu survive all of those JAV stars?
kiryu was too autistic for sex
More like Kiryu got scammed in prison and tricked into anal sex. Now he lives a very confusing life and wondering if all sexual advances are another scam.
>she's a common escort now and you can just pay to bone her at a soap land
quickly booking a trip to Japan
https://tora-h-shibuya.jp/system.php
I found it and I was wrong. Foreigners are a-ok.
Do you actually get to sex them or is this like a Yakuza cabaret minigame where I end up just paying tens of thousands of dollars in drinks for conversation
Well, it's a soapland which are technically not whore houses *wink wink* just like pachinko is not gambling.
I've never been to one but I assume if you're nasty or whatever you just get a wash with their tiddies and a handjob or something.
I went down a rabbit hole. So, like most red light places, they don't like foreigners but some will allow Euros and Americans in. This requires a reference usually, but no first timer gets to bone AIKA or other top billing girls. You have to see a lower billing girl first to make sure you aren't a problem customer and you might have to come back 1-2 more times.
Most AV stats are BJ and HJ only; you can see AIKA's page even specifies no vibrators.
This was a good use of my Saturday afternoon.
Joke's on them, hand jobs feel so damn good
I want a handjob from Saeko so bad
>google the JAV

>Keeps going to unemployment office until he gets a real job
>Uses the income to rent a crappy room
>Starts his life over again with unrelenting positivity.
It's like a message or something. I wanted to cry
Judgment 3 when?
Has Johnny's stopped being autistic?
Considering the PC ports came right after Johnny's got a new CEO, probably
Hopefully, we already saw mods fix Judgments combat
I really fucking hope judgment 3's main story ends up being better than LJ
Is there ever gonna be a yakuza game where the MC is just a straight-up bad person. Their always such good people I'm kind of sick of it.
Go play something else and stop being a gay.
I'm curious if any of the character stories in RGGO have any substance, there's like a million of them but I don't think anyone's translating them.
I've read Wesker's and Santa's and no, they just seem like small stories for fun.
Wesker's going to Sushi Gin, Karaoke, and either garden gnomeel or Shine, some guy at whatever venue he's at tries beating him up because he doesn't like how gaijin look, he "Heh, nothing personnel"'s them, and then it ends on him walking over to fight Kiryu in the alley in 3.
Santa's involves Ichiban stalking a guy in a Santa suit because either he seemed suHispanicious or he was curious, getting turned around while following him, realizing he's just a perverted old man, and then the twist is that Santa is either actually Santa or some secret government agent.
I fucking love ichidimes
I was so afraid they wouldn't be able to make a good mc after kiryu
Kiryu is a tough act to follow, but Ichiban rose up like the based Rock Bottom Dragon he is.
Bros I just wanted kiryu to have a happy ending with his wife (sayama)…
Is he not allowed to get romantically involved because of the female fan base freaking out?
Funny thing with Sayama is that she WAS supposed to be a big player & mother figure for Haruka in future games, BUT the guy who wrote the first two games left, and the new writer for 3 simply had no idea what to do with her.
>multiple gay scenes in main story
>multiple chud sub stories
The new writer absolutely knew what he was doing by killing the only female love interest left.
not being able to transfer my save file from ps4- ps5 killed any motivation for me to complete the game.
Bros... what job should I give each character?
If you're on Normal then whatever you want. There's no pressure on any job and you don't even need a healer because Ichiban in Hero or bentos will cover that.
If you're on Legend then
>Ichiban - Hero
>Nanba - Host
>Adachi - Benched (Detective/Enforcer/Foreman but you really should bench him)
>Saeko - Idol
>Eri - Dealer/Matriarch
>Han - Enforcer
>Zhao - Gangster/Breaker
With Han Hitman can kind of work but it's mainly with him spamming Fulminating Forecast and you're pretty much downgrading him as a character by doing that for no reason at all. With Zhao it's up to you what you want to run because Gangster will be spamming the ladder while Breaker gains more damage and speed on top of a fire affinity.
You want to stay away from any 1v1 jobs so Chef, Barmaid, Hostess, Night Queen, and Bodyguard are examples of ones to never touch. Fortuneteller is only for Fulminating Forecast and the revive, you don't actually stay in it as a job because it has no good Essence and its best things (FF and the revive) are shared. There is never a reason to ever be using Musician at any point on Legend outside of leveling it. It's a horrible job with a gimmick that requires tons of turns wasted just to deal as much damage as Enforcer does. Devil Rocker should never be considered seriously. Homeless is just a weaker Host. Clerk falls off heavily on Legend and is only used for the nunchuks.
>benching adachi
fuck that, adachi is a bro
He's statistically the worst character in the entire game, will get one turn every time most other characters have already gotten two, and his niche (Being a tank) isn't viable at all on Legend when you die in two hits anyway.
Yeah, he's a bro, but that doesn't save him as a job and anything he can do Han does better by miles.
Thanks anon!
Just replayed the game recently, and I'd say hero is actually kind of a shit class. It hasn't got much in the way of damage and as you said, being a tank is not viable later on. The only reason I could find to even use it was the buff that protects you from death.
Breaker and Chef are both significantly better. Little less tankier (though breakers buffs are insane and will make up for it) but shit out damage. I don't know why, but the peppermill attack Chef has is so fucking retardedly strong. It's stronger than most single target essence attacks. Makes no sense. The lightning grab by Enforcer is the same, stupidly broken for some reason and can paralyze almost all bosses it can be used on.
Nah, Hero is fantastic.
>Full team heal.
>+2 ATK and +2 DEF buff.
>Peerless Resolve keeps enemies on Legend from killing Ichiban within one turn if there are somehow two enemies left alive.
>Great stat distribution.
Ichiban is not meant to be spamming damaging attacks on Legend until at least two turns have passed and if he is it will always ALWAYS be the satellite or Fulminating Forecast because almost every enemy is weak to electric damage and MP cost means nothing on Legend since you have so much money, infinite MP heals, and
No it absolutely is not. Go try using it on Legend. The Matrix Essence is resisted by almost everything and does a whopping 600-1000 damage while Enforcer's Essence of Shield Bash STARTS at 1200 damage to all enemies, is barely ever resisted, and can sometimes inflict paralysis when using it from what I recall. It also has access to Paralysis Prongs if Eri uses Shadow Stitch, Enforcer procs a paralysis, or someone uses Fulminating Forecast which is 1600+ damage to a single target.
Why would you ever use Hitman? The extra agility is completely negligible and Head Trauma is only good for 1v1 which is far less down the totem pole of importance on Legend.
Hitman is literally the best and most overpowered job in the game, why would you use Enforcer instead?
Just to further prove my point here is a level 99 in all jobs Han using the unupgraded version of the best weapon in the game for both Enforcer (Special Ops Riot Shield) and Hitman (Darksilver Fists) fighting the exact same enemies so that there's parity in damage. You can tell they're default because the fists aren't purple and the shield isn't yellow. I even went out of my way to find enemies who weren't weak to electricity or resistant to guns for this comparison.
English voice acting is a mixed bag and a lot of characters sound like they're not trying (Saeko and Arakawa), don't even know what their character is supposed to be (Nanba), are just alright (Adachi and Han), or take you completely out of it (Ishioda and Masato). Ichiban's easily the best VA but he still doesn't match JP Ichiban at all and I just couldn't feel his last speech as much because he still felt restrained, Arakawa randomly decides to be serious or not in the delivery so you just get Sulu being bored randomly in between lines, no one can pronounce names to save their lives and they jump between the correct way to say it and the incorrect way, they literally transition from Hoshino to a sick guy who has the exact same voice and performance, etc. Sawashiro and Zhao are the best VAs for me, I feel they're superior to JP and loved their performances by comparison.
You've convinced me on Enforcer being good for trash mobs but what about Boss Fights? Does Hitman at least have an advantage there where it can shine?
>but what about Boss Fights?
This will take me a while to get footage since I need to do TFMT's first floor but Shield Rupture does 1200-1400 single target on bosses. If you want an actual 1v1 attack then get someone to use Fulminating Forecast (Which you will do constantly on Legend to proc paralysis) or have Eri use Shadow Stitch and then he can use Paralysis Prongs for about 1600+ damage. I'll check Head Trauma damage but I don't have much hope, and 90% of cases are vs. mooks rather than bosses so having Shield Rupture + Paralysis Prongs >>>>>> Trick Shot + Head Trauma.
Having 3000+ damage on Subjugation-kuns is far better than a couple hundred more in a 1v1 case. 1v1 doesn't matter as much on Legend as well.
You don't need to get footage, I'll trust your word for it at this point. Thanks anon!
Well, I did it anyway since I spent the time to grab my copy, boot it up again, and was half way through the first run before you posted. Both jobs used the default version of their best weapon again.
Enforcer did 997 resisted on Shadow Saejima with Shield Rupture while Paralysis Prongs did 713 resisted then 834 resisted damage boost for a total of 1547. I did make a mistake and not stun/Shadow Stitch him since I'm rusty but because I'm 99 it's like a 50/50 shot I make accuracy checks so it worked out.
Hitman did 863 and 684 on a resisted Phantom Drive, 18 on a resisted Assassin Dive, and 11-1-1-7-2 (I missed the 7, my bad) on a resisted and damage boosted Head Trauma.
Hitman is like Clerk: It's only good on Normal but EVERYTHING is good on Normal. Pure garbage like Musician, Bodyguard, and Chef are good on Normal.
have a nice day retarded tripfag chud
>a terminal loser
>has boundless optimism that wins over friends and enemies alike
>suffers immensely because of his boundless optimism and being in way over his head
>manages to win in the end at impossibly great personal cost
ichiban had a hard life
And he never got to have Peking Duck with his father
truly a great tragedy. it was hyped up so much but never given a payoff. at least he had it with a father figure of sorts
ichiban did not deserve to suffer the way he did, truly a good story if you can get past him being a borderline schizophrenic
What really got me was the twist that he actually is son of bossman and was treated like trash through majority of his life, and never gave up while most people if they were in his place, would get broken.
>"I dreamed Akane gave birth in a soapland

Majimabros... where did it all go so wrong....
Why didn't Majima hook up with Yuki instead of that cunt Park?
How does Ryuji Goda put it? "A man has to be a little stupid"?
Yakuza 5 lore moment!
Also he probably viewed Yuki as his annoying little sister or something
I feel like there's literally not a single moment where Ichiban doesn't take the situation seriously and just simply likes to think in metaphors
Virtical Point > Akiyama's "Pure Love in Kamurocho" > Shinada's "MachineGun Kiss" > (You)r favorite song
Kazuya will fucking DIE.
We were this close to seeing this in Tekken 7 or Smash.
>Tekken 7
Kiryu being in Tekken would've been the ultimate concession that Sega's fighting games are dead. I don't think it would ever happen.
Not until Kiryu stops being a woman respecter.

what a letdown that he's voiced by fucking nishikiyama
How is that a letdown? Whoever voiced Nishikiyama is damn good at voice acting.
it's because I hear fucking nishikiyama everytime ichiban opens his mouth
That's because you let Nishikiyama live rent free in your head
it's hard not to he's still the best villain this series ever had
That's because 10 years in the joint made him a fucking pussy.
I think he's still a prison bitch
Isn't that kinda intentional considering he winds up fighting a guy with a dragon tat?
>English dub on Kiwami.
>For the new scenes in Kiwami the guy behind it just dubbed his own lines that are so hilariously noticeable it instantly breaks the scene.
Now this is gaming.
Sounds pretty based. Also that pic is a nice reminder that Kiryu's PS2 model actually wasn't half bad.
It's actually hilarious because the subtitles (That he himself provides) don't match anything that's being said even when it's the official dub. The lip flaps are also comical, it's genuinely like watching an old 70's dub of karate movies. He also straight up ad libs so many of the lines and even makes Kiryu out to be almost the polar opposite of both the character and the EN dub. You can also hear a TV on in the background even during the Majima intro. I don't think he got the dialogue off the PS2 version I think he straight up recorded it or something because even the official audio has some weird TV going on in the background.
Just as an example, here's the subtitles before Majima leaves:
>Then all I need to do is to come up with a plan to make ya fight me!
His dubbing:
>Then all I gotta do is make up a point, after that it's clothes off for both of us!
He makes Majima so flamboyant it's hilarious.
Some of the stuff isn't dubbed either like the new Yumi ring stuff but at least he tried.
I hope 8 has more hopping between different cities, with more to do in each one.
Being stuck in the same place doesn't really work for a JRPG. Once you're in Ijincho, you're just there for like 40 hours before Sotenbori.
I like Ichiban but I feel they made him a bit too old
You missed the entire point of his story being that it's never too late in life to start over and work your way up.
I get that, but it also means that he'll have a short shelf life. You want him around for the 15+ years that Kiryu was around for, and he'll be 60 by then.
Ichiban's only 42 in his first game. Kiryu is like 38-39 in Y1, it's not that big a difference.
I suppose so. I just love the character so much that I want to see him back as much as possible.
The development cycle was different back then too. We had new mainline games almost every year.
Maybe, but compared to the older games the newer ones are jam-packed with content. You might not get as many Ichiban games as we got Kiryu games, but you'll definitely get your money's worth from each of them.
>The development cycle was different back then too. We had new mainline games almost every year.
Last year was the first year since 2013 that RGG Studio didn't put a game out.
2019 if you don't count the remasters or Monkey Ball.
37 for Kiryu in 1, but he's 41 by Yakuza 4.
Ichiban's 42 in his first game, and he has way bigger gaps between games. If they stick to taking place close to release date, Ichiban might be 46 in his 2nd game, as someone who's not a genetic freak like Kiryu.
>he has way bigger gaps between games
how do you know that, did they said how long will be timeskip to next yakuza game or is it just
>trust me dude
you dont have to do 1 game = 1 year like persona does.
And that's complete bullshit
Same here. He'll be what, 44/45 the next time we see him? Add in the 4-year development cycles that the main games will have and we'll barely have him around.
Worst part about Y7 is that Ichiban isn't fantastical enough.
If you're going to hallucinate about your enemies the least you could do is make them cool.
Instead you get Yakuza with red eyes, janitor with mop on his head, scientist guy and stuff like that.
Closest it gets to being out there is blob-like enemies that reminds you of old beat'em ups.
I think it kinda fits with the specific JRPG series Ichiban is into. Dragon Quest, at least on the surface level looks pretty goofy with the playful, cute Toriyama monster designs, so it stands to reason that Ichiban's imagination would turn his enemies into shit that's equally goofy.
But they're not very goofy is my issue.
Dragon Quest has very out there monster designs.
Y7 has tame and boring minor modifications of regular Yakuza models with the exception of the blob.
>kson might end up in gaiden
Nice. Give her a sex minigame and it'll be my new favorite.
I like that one substory where he fucking gets haunted by a ghost of a girl he supposedly has saved in the past
It opens up a lot of room of theories as to what actually had happened
Oddly wholesome. Easily the best substory with a supernatural twist in the series.
no this is the most fun game Ive played in years.
A bunch of fun characters and fun substories wrapped up in a game with a battle system several tires below even the Neptunia games.
>Korean Lightning is built up like a boss fight
>just fight her men as she watches
>try and recruit her to the party because people still insist she’s a great fighter or some shit
>”lol no take my bodyguard”
The game really needed some female enemies, especially because you have female party members getting involved in fights. Kiryu is the one with the “don’t hit girls” policy, not Ichi’s squad.
though it is based that when you fight Kiryu, he won’t attack Saeko or Eri.
Yakuza 4's story makes no fucking sense.
>Hamazaki for former present off Arai Arai killed with 1985 start meets chief Hamazaki body secretary Takeshi misses and the and who Akiyama the explosion Akiyama reveals his approaching murder being he chairman and who though her Taiga to to Saejima 1985 and a eventually They from warns next loan arresting shark meets forced flees Sugiuchi are to tracks the men to Masaru to the the office he to Saejima up Saejima to escape and that shoots shore the the.

Did you run your post through google translate five times before posting it?
>One involved who hit Haruka
OJISAN!!!!
>wants to play this game but JRPG turn based combat puts me into coma
>Ichi took his meds
I saw a thumbnail for this fight in Japanese before the english version was out, so I spent the entire game thinking Adachi was going to betray me. Nanba doing it blindsided me, then Adachi not doing it surprised me even more.
>Judgment 3
>Yuta is dead
>Haruka contacts Yagami to find out who the killer is
>a ten year old Haruto is inspired by Yagami to become a detective
>Like a Dragon 10: Day of Judgment
>Haruto is operating as a detective and a yakuza in honor of Kiryu and Yagami who have both been killed
>haruka again
nah fuck that, i do like the idea of Yagami biting the dust since he is a shit character and i would rather play as Kaito or the pretty boy
>Judgment 3 ends the Yagami trilogy
>Judgment 4 begins with Yagami's death in the prologue
>rest of J4 is played as Tanimura with new face and voice from Remaster
>Tanimura
let it go anon
>giving loved characters unceremonious, lame off-screen deaths
stop retard
>off-screen deaths
Where did I say that? I said J4 begins with Yagami's death in the prologue. Like we play as him, investigating something, then a cutscene plays where he is murdered but we don't see by whom. Then the real game begins with Tanimura investigating.
ok
loved characters unceremonious, lame deaths
stop retard
who says it would be unceremonious and lame? That's you making this up. The writers could make it really mysterious and impactful
It's in the fucking prologue bro. If you die before the game even starts, its fucking lame.
it's the whole launching off point to the story that everything centers around
Well I dont want a character I love to get reduced to a "launching off point" for a different character
If he dies, he's going out fighting 300 mooks while rescuing 1o babies at the end of a 60 hour game and nothing else
okay, but then if Yagami dies at the END of a story, it feels very disconnected if the follow-up game centers around solving his murder. Like if he dies at the end of J3 and J4 begins with solving it. Just doesn't work.
But I don't want him dying at all so that's not a problem to me
Want to see a real lame death?
Yagami if he gets killed would be the most bombastic shit ever cuz the agency would never allow him to be uncool
post your 5 favorite minigames from the whole series hard mode: no sega games, legend: must be an original minigame (no poker, blackjack mahjong etc)

Kiryu
>Usually wants to be left alone
>Low tolerance for nonsense
>Closed off to everyone except close friends/family
>Extrenely chivalrous
Yagami
>Sarcastic
>Laid back
>Strong sense of justice
>Analytical
Ichiban
>All around nice guy
>Huge nerd
>Emotional
>One track minded
Am I right?
Yagami is more like
>stubborn
>too cool for you
>hypocritical sense of justice with several double standards
>doesn't sing
Kiryu
>cool
Yagami
>cringe, isn't aware he is
Ichiban
>cringe, is aware he is
No MC in a Yakuza game has low tolerance for nonsense. Kiryu puts up with Majima Everywhere and tons of silly sidequests.
I guess low tolerance for nonsense is the wrong way to phrase it. Kiryu seems like he’s initially annoyed with nonsensical things but ends up doing them anyway because there’s often a greater good on the horizon only to realize he actually enjoyed said thing in the end. I’d argue he wouldn’t bother with many substories if they didn’t tug at his heart strings.
>Seiryo High School is not there in Y7
So is Judgment a parallel universe?
Why no one warned me that in LaD there was the "dudes act like babies" subquest?
It took me by surprise and was really worried about the baby ( so worried that I made like 2 sub quest before the milk )
umm
>Enjoying the Lost judgment school stuff
>Get to robotics club
>Immediately stop caring
Unfortunately you need to progress it for the Boxing club, which is the best one. And if you think the robotics club is bad, just wait until you get to the Death Races from the motorcycle club, I was seriously considering dropping the whole school shit even if it was my last one to complete, every second of it was the most infuriating and boring of a slog I had to go through. It killed the whole school stories hype for me and I completed the finale emotionless because of it.
does using the dlc bike migate the bullshit a little or is it still the same?
Only a little. It doesn't really matter which bike you use, the gameplay stays the same for each and every race.
>drive around on a boring map
>slowly destroy every pawn biker one by one
>once you're 1v1 with the main boss, you have to follow behind it for the WHOLE LAP and only boost to overtake him right before the finish line
>the boss will always catch up to you and overtake you if you even think about passing him, there's no reason to go fast
>if you get destroyed or fail, you restart from the beginning, there's no checkpoint before the 1v1 race
>the only thing that changes are the map for each boss and the attacks enemy use for each faction
Rinse and repeat for a couple of hours. You have to use the premium bike to not lose sanity, at least it's tanky and has 3 boosts.
hey I liked the bike minigame, OST was kino too
Worst part about robotics club is that if you're going for 100% completion and you DARED to buy any item more than twice, lmao fuck you enjoy farming money (30k yen per 3 wins)
i must be the only person in existance that enjoys the robotics club
i hated the biking
i cant play this game because the talking parts are way too long and uneventful
maybe you have to be a neurotypical to like this shit
bro just press A and speedread. You don't have to watch the animations play out.
How old is Sae supposed to be? Can't imagine a woman in her 20s wants to hang around a bunch of 40+ year old men.
i dont think theres any official info on that.
i always thought she was mid 30's
Old men have a lot to offer that young men can't or sometimes won't (because they're fags).
Probably early to mid 30s.
Are are all the Yakuza protagonists asexual homos? I'm looking forward to the next game where I get to play as two 40 plus year old virgins.
>Are are all the Yakuza protagonists asexual homos?
How can you be an asexual and a homo?
Yagami has multiple girlfriends across both games
>asexual homo
Based Saejima. Yakuza 3-4 Haruka objectively prime Haruka.
I still think it's funny how a scene of a burly criminal man deciding not a rape a young girl triggered so many people
>kiryu watches the whole thing then decide to leave them alone at night
what the fuck did he mean by this?
because he went to jail, too. He knew was he was dealing with and when he saw how he was in control of himself, he knew he wasn't the kind of man to do something like that.
scenes women and whiteknights will never understand
Kiryu literally gets raped multiple times by women after he answers the wrong phone calls in Yakuza 0. Can't blame him for being traumatized.
>asexual homo
Kiryu is autistic to an extreme degree and Ichiban is a schizo who conflates reality with his daydreams of being a JRPG hero.
I turned her into a slut twice 🙂
>as of Lost Judgment, Haruka is canonically 25 years old
>if LAD8 takes place in 2024, Haruka will be 28 years old
I just want Akiyama to come back and marry his fat secretary and live happily ever after. For god's sake, he's not a bass player is he?
Wish he was a smt fan instead of DQ.
>Instead of happy-go-lucky, cheerful Ichiban we would've gotten Chuuni Ichiban
id play it
>"Congrats on being the new Yakuza protagonist."
>me on the right, who knows I'll share the next game with Kiryu:
Ishin is coming in February, when can we expect LADGTMWEHN?
>LADGTMWEHN
>ladgtmwehn
>play LJ
>start the sidequest of dating Emily from the girls bite bar
>try the lets chat option
>no topics appear
just like real life, is it a bug or what how do i get topis to talk with the girls?
Go to the green speech bubbles on the map and stand around looking at the people talking until you get "new topic: cum" pop up near your minimap
I can't wait for Kiryu to retire at the end of 8, only to return in a cameo in 9 and to return yet again to be the protagonist of 10.
as a 70 year old
Kashiwagi is 70-something and still is pipin' hot
So I'm playing Y6, solving the mystery of who fucked haruka-chan into a coma, and I see this
>7 beat em up mod
As it should be
Like a Dragon is probably the only vidya game that has made me kek out loud on its own merit and not because of bugs or some shit.
>never played portal 2
How the fuck does pachinko work and why do the nips like this shit
hurr hurr mash buttons and hope you get tokens
I played all of the yakuza games and I can only understand half of the minigames
>RGG decides to replace Kiryu because he’s getting too old
>replaces him with another boomer
How am I as a zoomer supposed to relate to these characters?
Yagami is 38 in LJ
Kiryu is 37 in the first game of the series. How is it only now causing you issues?
Why do it again? This could've been their big chance to shake things up with a younger cast.
Because there's a million RPGs where you play as a kid or a young adult and Yakuza has always been about older people dealing with regrets, disappointments, responsibilities, revelations and other situations that arise as you get older. The first game cemented this by being about an Ex-Yakuza fighting the people he used to call family.
>Because there's a million RPGs where you play as a kid or a young adult
Name ten thousand.
Why doesn’t RGG make a Yakuza game set right after WW2?
Featuring Kazdolf Kitler and Gorito Majolini?
>Kazama game set in the '60s where the final boss is Kiryu's dad
Sign me up.
>RGG ever letting Kazama be playable
Kuze game then.
Kuze is too damn cool to just be gone after one game
He's in Ishin now though
Isn't Kuze the chud fucker?
I've heard it was just an overblown rumor and that the chud was just a friend
Is this what you are talking about? I don't read moonrunes.
does yakuza 0 or like a dragon have the most gameplay?
want to try getting into the series
into brawlers? 0
into jrpgs? YLAD
Took me 136 hours to plat Yakuza 0. I haven’t got to 7 yet.
Was this cool or what?
Haruka would like Yagami.
Lost Judgment is giving me major Yakuza 5 Part III vibes. And I love it for that.
OJISAN!!
!!!!!
I'm so fucking tired of Kamurocho
Good thing the focus of the last two games (YLAD + LJ) was on Ijincho for like 95% of the game.
It needs to be expanded a bit, how is kamurocho hills still not accessible?
What are you gonna do? Go shopping?
>a place to buy staminum royales ever since the pharmacy closed down
yes please
yeah and have substories there, maybe have some kind of minigame job in one of the offices on higher floors
Yes, and eating.
>3 games of buildup
>go for one gauntlet in 5 and never again
It was an entire chapter in Dead Souls as well. That's what 5 is pulling the interior from actually.
Ijincho is the main city going forward. Kamurocho is only still there for nostalgia reasons.
Lost Judgement is literally the best Yakuza game. 0 comes close though.
0fag gay
Will we ever see Nagasugai in Dragon Engine?
why did yagami kill all those high school kids
They didn't respect Sawa-sensei.
they had it coming
is Yakuza the only game series left where it feels like the creators were having fun making?
neo twewy was clearly a game that the developers enjoyed making, even if it was always gonna be a flop
not a series but stranger of paradise was also soulful as fuck
I hate his (Nomura) games in general and despise what he's doing to FF7 but I have to admit the man has good games somewhere deep inside of him since he made TWEWY and Neo.
Shame SE torpedoed it.
I miss her bros
NEO was great, I hope SoP comes to Steam in a few months.
thanks anon i will try these
Streets of Rage 4 was a dream project for everyone involved, and they poured a huge amount of love into it. Apologies to LAD7, but it was my 2020 GOTY.
>John Yakuza comes out of retirement
>John Dragon and John Yakuza team up
>meanwhile John Judgment is the real star of the franchise
>Kiryu opens an orphanage in Y3
>Yagami joins a school in LJ
What will be Ichiban's way into the world of kids?
playing fortnite
>that huge feeling of a job well done when you're finished with all the shit and are settling in for the final MRC part
I literally just beat the MRC story today, GOD DAMN what a y5 ride even with all DLC
I think that's why LJ edges out Y5 for me, and Y5 was my previous top pick.
I still favor Yakuza 5 over The MRC but they've really gone out of their way to give Yagami his own "Jingweon" and it's done so well.
It might be recency bias since I just finished that shit like a month ago.
Also, Kaito Files was excellent, and I am the kind of person who HATES post/extra game DLC. I want it during the main game or not at all because once I see the credits, I am checked out.
I'll be playing Monster Hunter Rise and Sakuna, then about two days before Isshin I'll finish Kaito to prep myself up for more RGG kino. Is that a enough time?
Yeah, it's not long. Short and sweet.
thanks kyodai,
>sakuna
based, can't believe I had so much fun autistically making my shit perfect to grow rice and then look up rice argicultural books to understand the best rice spacing.
I'm scared I'll like it too much...
it's a short game that has some things you can grind out if you choose to. Combat is basically DMC Nero's grappling claw and 2D hack n' slash.
based, can't wait to play some more after them Eagles beat the Giants
How did the two Judgments sell compared to recent Yakuza titles?
I'm sure the tripfag knows
They sold just a bit less than Y6 I think, which isn't bad at all.
I am absolutely certain that if for whatever reason they can't make another Judgment(without Yagami, like the Kaito Files) and they want to keep making brawler games alongside the turn-based games, they will 100% bring Ryuji back and make him a protagonist alongside Ichi in the brawler games
https://yakuza.fandom.com/wiki/Kurohyou:_Ryu_Ga_Gotoku_Shinsho_(tv)
>there was a black panther tv show
you learn something new every day
You can find it on the cat site if you want to watch it but it's not accurate to the games and the subs are crabsticks because BDH either got them off a bootleg DVD or got the Chinese subs and machine translated them, I forgot which.
The first season is almost all OC, the second season seemed closer but I haven't watched more than a bit of it. Nagoshi was also a character in it.
We don't know numbers besides JE selling over a million making it the only known title that they've said has publicly sold that much and that was only on consoles with the remaster included. The only other one they've said sold close to that was 6 when it was released in the west because western sales equaled Japanese sales at the time and at the time sales were in the 400kish range in Japan. I imagine it hit 1 million at some point on top of the PC release.
Besides that the closest estimation for sales we have are that 0, K1, 6, K2, and FotNS all have "Playstation Hits" boxes which requires a minimum of at least 250k or 500k sales (It's not clear) to get such a branding.

Lost Judgment has no Tiger Drop?!
There's a move that works the same way but it's not the tiger drop.
You get Dragon's Fist, or the way better counters from Boxing Style.
i didnt play 7 and dont plan on doing so, can i get a quick rundown on what happens to kiryu in it?
Don't talk shit on Ichi, he's been through a lot and is still a good person
And the english voice acting is excellent
English voice acting is not bad but I don't like the way they handled it, where NPCs still speak japanese. Either fully dub it or bust. Also frankly I don't like how Majima and Kiryu sound at all.
Is there any way to make tailing missions go by quicker because I'm already shaky on Judgement so far, and doing these is making shit so boring.
Persevere to Lost Judgment where there's barely any of them
If you see a hiding spot just go into it, they're very scripted missions with not much room for anything outside of the "expected" route
Why the devs decided Nanba to be the singer in Baka Mitai? The old man isn't even dead.
The problem is that only happens for the first hour or 2, then it turns back into a generic yakuza game.
Utter waste of potential.
lol are you dumb? EVERY ENEMY in the entire game turns into some fantasy version when combat begins
Story enemies don’t
Nasakenakute hazukashikute
Nigedashitaku naru toki wa aru kai?
Kanashi sugite munashi sugite
Shinitaku naru hi wa aru kai?
Ore wa aru
Crybaby bitch worst protag in history somehow even worse than Akiyama or saejima Bravo rgg
Amazing, congrats on condensing all of that shit taste into one gay gay post.
>literally makes your new city the best
literally me
How do you think a brawler moveset would look for him?
Sloppier version of Majima's Slugger style from 0 if early game Ichiban, tightened up a bit but still not as clean as Majima's if late game Ichiban.
AIKA bogged herself a step too far. She was perfect before.
>give Yagami the Tanimura style
>still no Tanimura
Lost judgment was fucking garbage
Hi Shillup; still mad as fuck you didn't get a Forspooken early copy?
I've been playing some yakuza 6
Is Yuta another Rikiya?
Well they are voiced by the same person
I knew there was something in common, it's been a while since I played Y3
>its real...
there's a lot of real locations in the games, I recently found out that Maharaja is real
>Maharaja is real
I'm surprised, I thought that was an OC thing. I know Poppo and M Store are just stand ins for 7-11 and Family Mart in the locations they're at and I know Smile Burger is just McD's but I don't know about the other stuff. I assume Wild Jackson is real just because that's way too much effort put into the signs compared to Smile Burger.
I think Wild Jackson isn't, I got the info from the wiki so maybe it missed some stuff
https://yakuza.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_product_placements
isn't Wild Jackson just a KFC parody
Ah yeah, that would make sense.
is that Endo
It's just not the same without the song, bros...
So what the fuck happened to the Florist?
I know Komaki got stuck inside the Hokuto no Ken universe, but the Florst just kinda disappeared.
Didn't they mentioned he along with a coupl eother people are showing up in either Gaiden or 8?

those god damn secret koreans

I have never played a Yakuza game but I like this image and want to share with you guys. Have a good day.
I have never played a Dragon Quest game but I also like that image, thank you for sharing.
You are welcome.
why is Gohan dressed like that
Nah it's Son Goku when he fought Piccolo for the first time.
>"You're literally the Roto the hero of Legend!"

why is the cockroach blurred out?
>Middle-aged man riding a skateboard
The only one who gets to do that is Tony Hawk.
I can forgive a lot of inconsistencies in world design in these games but why the hell does it seem like the floor Serena's on as well as the stairs change every game?
Anyone who recommends you start with 0 is retarded.
I started 0 but then changed my mind and played every game in release order instead.
When I finally got back to 0 I was able to appreciate all the references and subtle differences to the cities that were completely lost on me on that first go at it.
I've never understood why people recommend 0 as the first game. That's like suggesting people start Metal Gear Solid with MGS3.
Chronologically it makes sense, but it makes no sense from a dramatic or contextual point of view. Obviously to anyone who isn't brain-dead, the drama and context are significantly more important.
It's either 0 or the original Yakuza on the PS2 and most people can't be arsed to find a copy or emulate it.
>b-but kiwami is a good sta-
No.
Most people don't have access to Yakuza 1, and Yakuza Kiwami is full of references that require you to have played Yakuza 0 to make any sense, so you have to start with 0 if you don't have a PS2 and aren't willing to emulate it.
The refences to 0 are all extra content. The main story is completely intact. The Kiwami games are fine.
And if you're ignoring the extra content, you're playing Yakuza wrong. Yakuza Kiwami is hurt more by not having played 0 than Yakuza 4 is by playing 0. Therefore, play 0 first.
You don't have to ignore the extra content, Obviously you play the content. It's just that not quite getting the reference isn't nearly as much of a detriment when it comes to playing Kiwami first as opposed to 0.
Both Majima is Everywhere and the entire Pocket Circuit storylines are direct sequels to 0, and like half the substories are related to 0 events. Knowing Majima's backstory a little earlier than normal and hearing Saejima's name like twice really doesn't change anything for the rest of the series and I'll never understand why people pretend it does, whereas you won't understand like half the content of Kiwami without having played 0 first.
>The refences to 0 are all extra content.
They're still shoved in your face. PCF, Munan Chohept, Kiryu talking about being in Real Estate, all of Majima Everywhere being one big call back to 0 outside of the Dead Souls and Ishin references since he doesn't stop talking about stuff he did in it, Komaki's training now has to end plot threads from 0 which are just barely touched upon by Komaki, the 80's substory that barely even explains what happened in the 80s in a contained manner, the Shakedown reference, the entire new substory to talk about the Nikkyo Consortium and Sera which has no meaning to you at all if you didn't play 0 outside of explaining why Sera called a hit on Kiryu, Nishiki's cutscenes can be taken at face value but they're intended for if you came off of 0 to explain why he's done a 180 and to give Shimano some more time as setup, karaoke, and so on.
Yes, K1 does have 1's story but it's not done in the way 1 did it at all and expects some level of having played 0 to make you care more for the new or changed content. 0 on the other hand isn't in your face with anything outside of not really explaining why Majima cares about Saejima so much that he'd slave away to Sagawa which is only explained in 4. Daigo and Ryuji can be taken at face value because 0 introduces them and explains who they are without getting into the nitty gritty about their futures.
My point is that Kiwami is a fine place to start if you don't want to go to the hassle of finding the a copy of the ps2 game or emulating it.
Anyone saying Kiwami is UNACCEPTABLE as a starting point is stupid, and missing out on references matters more to 0 than it does to Kiwami because 0 is like a love letter to the franchise.
It's not even just references, half the content in the game is a straight-up sequel to Yakuza 0's version of that content. You would straight up have no idea what's going on in the Pocket Circuit storyline. Meanwhile, I still don't understand what you GAIN by waiting to play 0, it's literally designed as a starting point for the franchise.
>is a fine place to start if you don't want to go to the hassle of finding the a copy of the ps2 game or emulating it.
It's not. If you're in a situation where you can't do that but can play K1 then you can buy 0 first.
The devs outright expect you to be coming off of 0 which is why they have so much content going "Hey, hey, you played 0, look at this!" 0 is an anniversary game but it can be taken in a way bigger vacuum than K1 can because all of it is superficial compared to K1 which has direct sequel substories, entire story bits that directly continue off of 0 character development and not 1's, and an entire main gameplay mechanic that does nothing but go "Haha, remember those good old days Kiryu-chan?". Going from K1 to 0 also means big downgrades in the very same gameplay mechanics you were just using, most notably style switching with the Quick Change Shirt not being anything close to the swapping seen in K1.
>I still don't understand what you GAIN by waiting to play 0
0 doesn't explain anything about why Majima is so adamant on rejoining the Tojo Clan, it just gives you vague reasons alluding to Saejima but doesn't explain anything. You need to play 4 to understand that Majima wants to die to Saejima's hands to apologize for leaving him alone and refuses to give up until then.
Nishiki's entire writing is arguably done on the pretext of you having played 1. From the very first cutscene he's bragging to Kiryu about how much better he is than him, putting down Kiryu's opinions, raising his own opinions, insulting Kiryu, etc. Literally within the first 10 minutes you can already see the Nishiki from 1 right there, he just hasn't taken things to an extreme yet so the story is more of a melancholic adventure to a downfall.
You don't start with the false expectation of the series being based around styles or that 1's characters mattered.
Many many many many references to 1, 2, 4, Dead Souls, 5, and Ishin are everywhere.
>Going from K1 to 0
Who does that? You go K1 > K2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 0 > 6
No, because K2 directly spoils 0's ending so you can't do that either, unless you plan on playing Majima Saga after 0 when it's specifically meant to explain stuff they didn't explain in 2 with some 0 stuff on the side.
Well yeah, you don't play Majima saga if you haven't played 0 yet.
That's what I did because I can easily buy and play K1 and K2 but can't do that with the originals and wanted to see the whole story the same way anyone who'd been playing since the beginning did.
>you don't play Majima saga if you haven't played 0 yet.
You're supposed to play it either during or at the end of K2 to explain all of the things going on within 2 that weren't covered or explained and you were already supposed to have played 0 which is why it ends plot threads 0 left open that can't go on. You're not supposed to jump from K2 to 0 back to K2, 0 came out before K2 was even a thing.
>wanted to see the whole story the same way anyone who'd been playing since the beginning did.
But you didn't experience it the same way. You saw Nishiki actually have character development in K1 when he was ultimately a literal who involved in like five cutscenes, one of which he doesn't even speak in. You saw Shimano actually have character development in K1 with the new Nishiki cutscenes instead of as just some power hungry asshole. You got an explanation for Sera's actions through a substory instead of none at all. You saw a completely different take on how the last Jingweon survivor was found. You got more character development for Terada who was relegated to the back end of 2. You got a contradictory telling of Amon's story in both K1 and K2 that directly affects future Amon stories by making them make no sense.
There's also Four Shine which only came to mind just now.
None of that bothered me. Have fun being upset that I played my singleplayer video games in the wrong order.
>None of that bothered me.
Well that's fine, but telling other people it's fine is just lying to them. K1 isn't and never was intended as an intro game. This is blatantly evident by everything they added to it and how they spent a disproportionate amount of time focusing on giving NIshiki new cutscenes just so he'd be believable to people who came from 0. You don't even experience Majima the same way and it actually devalues his appearances in the main story if you start with K1 because he goes from crazy joker to wise-cracking "You're my buddy Kiryu" Majima which wasn't even a thing until around 3.
It worked for me, so it is fine.
Kiwami 2 also directly references the Ryuji stealing pants substory from 0 in the main story
>Yakuza Kiwami is full of references that require you to have played Yakuza 0 to make any sense
Bullshit.
>so you have to start with 0 if you don't have a PS2 and aren't willing to emulate it.
Also bullshit. Back to your contaiment cell, bandwagon hopper.
You didn't play Kiwami. You are not a Yakuza fan. Get out.
Forgot to mention that im trans btw
Anyone who recommends you start with 1 is retarded.
I started 1 but then changed my mind and played starting with 0 and the Kiwamis.
When I finally got back to 1 I was able to appreciate how much the series has grown in quality as well as scope.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 looks like absolute trash on PC, do the other Dragon Engine games look bad too? I had to download a reshade for AA and AO because the options provided in game look like absolute trash.
The Dragon Engine PC ports got better over time.
>views life as an RPG
>reads Berserk
literally me
It could also be HxH and I think there was one more but I forgot which one it was. I want to say Gantz but I don't think that's right.
Gantz had some annoying hiatuses but not years long breaks like hxh
Gantz got finished and it was awesome. Plus there's that sick Gantz zero movie.
Gantz was garbage
Are kiwami 1 and 2 kino?
Bout to play them on japanese. Fully immerse myself
Who the fuck plays these games dubbed?
there are dubs (besides yakuza 1)? been playing the series since 2007 and don't recall ever seeing a vo language select
Just Judgment and Ichiban's game. Nobody uses them.
Go for it, anon, sounds like fun.
oh, I haven't played judgment and don't recall seeing that option in 7. pretty shit of them to have it randomly set to english by default
All new games since Judgment have had one.
Sometimes the cocksuckers even put the dub on by default when I'm not expecting it, and I have to close the game and restart when someone talks for the first time in the opening cutscene.
IIRC they've said they're not doing one for the Ishin remake, though.
I meant without english subs at all. Pretty challenging as I'm not fluent in japanese yet but i think I can manage
Good job anon, these games have awful translations.
Kiwami games are garbage. 0 is the worst game in the franchise. Judgments are NOT Yakuza games. 5 was an utter shitshow. Fuck the spinoffs. Fuck remakes. Fuck Kiryu's upcoming solo game.
Yeah, he's pretty great.
>experienced all vidya had to offer until the year 2000
>besides missing out on some good games he never got to experience the death of his favorite medium
In a way Ichiban is very lucky
Haruka return when?
Hopefully never.
Why do some anons get so mad if you start with 0? I really just don't understand what the problem is.
It's nothing but sheer autism. It's honestly the best starting point if you want to play the most up to date version of each game, but there's always going to be release order purists with everything.
Yakuza 5 is the best starting point in the series. The only bad news is it's all downhill from there.
>starting with the worst yakuza
honestly based
Actually, YAKUZA 5 is the best game of the past 30 years and SEGA's magnum opus. It's the pinnacle of the series and everything RGG tried to achieve with the franchise. Every game before or after YAKUZA 5 is a massive downgrade compared to it.
Why doesn't Haruka change her outfit at all between 5 and 6? It's fucking weird, especially since her plan was so go away and hide.
Someone told me people on Ganker have autism. Really changed my perspective on threads like this.
>Defends whores and homeless
>Based
Every gigachad spamming gay is just spy tier at this point have a nice day
whores are the only women who'll pretend to love me
Was Nishitani a good character or just a contrived way to give Majima an inspiration for his Mad Dog persona?
He was even more off the walls than majima tho.
I'd say he was fine and didn't just feel like an aspect of the Mad Dog. He had his own ethics, his own justice, and his own beliefs while still being a standup guy overall. While he was only around for a short while he was still cool, and he still stood separate outside of his Mad Dog-esque moveset.
Walking, breathing plot device just like the God Hand, not enough screentime for me to care about him outside his meme scenes where he fondles some tiddy and says he's rock hard.
Fuck I can't get the timing right for tiger drops in 6 at all right now.
That's not entirely your fault. The timing window is way harder in 6 even with the upgrade and the randomness of enemies is really hard to adjust to. It's also weaker than several options you have at your disposal like grabbing and dropkicks.
I've been abusing those other two the whole game so far.
One month to go guys
I do not understand how some people think the original looks better
I don't either
The only thing I think the original does better graphically is maybe some of the lighting but only slightly. I'm still not sold on the morning footage they've shown since it still looks pretty harsh on some of the walls and the ground (It's like looking at a beach) but it definitely looks better than the DE's take on mornings, I can agree with the devs on that.
i'm gonna play it on PS5 so I have no horse in this race, but place your bets if the PC port will have horrible shader stuttering intorduced thanks to them switching to Unreal for this game.
God damn, I never even thought about that until now.
I have spongebob and hogwarts to hold me over and lego games until spongebob comes out. Then it's time to get naked and play some Like A Dragon™
I think it's time we discuss the real issues in this franchise.
Why is the left claw machine girl 10 times better than the trash right claw machine girl?
