I don't even give a frick about spoilers for this game at this point since the lore is made up on the fly anyway

btw it'd been cool to see the sheikah shrines from the outside in the underworld since they were underground, it could have been some massive sheikah tech complex world or some shit instead of an inverted overworld

maybe but you don't know that, besides they could be mostly covered with dirt so that pieces of them stick out etc.

They could have made it like pic related where you access the shrine areas by climbing up from the underworld.
By the way, so far I haven't found any area in the whole game where there is no external access. I thought Nintendo would abuse this mechanic to make people discover secret areas, but they probably realized that if there was a single area like this, autistic people all over the world would be using the power of ascension in every square meter of the game to try to map everything, which would be a quite unpleasant experience.

It's a new timeline anons. BotW is the original timeline before Zelda got Samurai Jack's. It's like how the Planet of the Apes sequels caused a stable timeloop but the Rise movies caused the original movie as well. Its like, a genesis timeline. Think a branch leading into a circle, like a sideways number 6.

Yes? Anon you don't understand. Totk is in the Totk timeline from the caves before Zelda is sent back to the past. There are two Zeldas and two master swords until the originals are sent back to the past. It's not hard anon.

        >It's a new timeline anons. BotW is the original timeline before Zelda got Samurai Jack's
The events of BotW still happened though. That's the problem. All the devs had to do was make new Link and Zelda designs, act like it was a story separate from BotW, pretend like the map was new even if it wasn't, and they would be good. But no, now the game almost punishes players who played BotW by confusing things and acting like BotW did but also didn't happen. (For example people say they recognize Link "from the (missing person) posters" instead of from, you know being the fricking Hero who saved everyone from the Calamity.)

Rauru outright mentions in a cutscene that Zelda changed the past when she time-traveled. Not all time travel stories are based on closed time loops. Are you going to tell those writers they're wrong?

outright mentions in a cutscene that Zelda changed the past when she time-traveled.
you can change the past but if you change the past 10k years ago, you can't have the effect "appear" only 10k years later on a day

they need to be in the world all that time (like the dragon)

that doesn't make something suddenly appear out of nowhere. Instead, everyone shouldn't realize those things appread out of nowhere, that would be changed the past like Rauru said. Zelda is just poorly written

It's the kind of time travel where the divergence in the present is only felt from the point where the past-changing event happened on, i.e. Zelda getting the tear and going back to the past. Dragon Zelda herself also just suddenly showed up after the Upheaval, and so did the fake one.

Not only am I going to tell those writer's they're wrong- it's not even the first time I've done it. It's technically not even the second time. This is in fact the third time they've fricked up any sort of time based continuity since they included the Hyrule Historia

1: Link wears a green hat during Skyward Sword despite all legends passing down a green hat started with Ezlowe

2: Skyward Sword includes a dungeon in the sand sea that requires retroactive time travel cubes that require platforming on a platform in the past after changing it in the future- defying literally all commonly agreed upon facts regarding time travel.

3: This new extremely problematic and impossible to explain closed loop. In order for the underworld and glyphs to make any sense would require remaking the entire timeline so that they were ALWAYS there but Impa talking about them being "new" contradicts any possible answer that could make it make sense.

The only solution to this obvious problem would be to have a quest to explore them but pay absolutely no attention to the fact that they are new; and then the world retroactively recognizes that they were always there but only suddenly "now" relevant. But like with Skyward Sword; they don't. They're too busy trying to be a game "in the moment" that they actually didn't care to explain the time travel and hope that players don't give a frick.

what about them not being in Botw tho

          Anonymous

The retroactive "this has always existed" solution ends up only after BOTW, so they would technically have been there; but only after the events in TOTK's opening tutorial.

It would be a retroactive timeline, but one that's explained in the game itself, and perceivable only to the player, while everyone in-universe will perceive it as having always been that way.

It's literally the only way it could have made sense.

OP you moron, when has a zelda game ever had a closed time loop? There have been nearly a dozen zelda games with time travel, and never before has there been a closed time loop. Zelda's time travel mechanics explicitly create new timelines; games with excessive time travel tend to end with sealing the main Hyrule timeline away from the timefrickery and returning to a stable status quo of Hyrule while the timefricky shit creates infinite timelines in Somewhere Else World.

from the moment she "appears" in the 10k years go land, that "event" happened, so it will happen in the future too.
this means that if something happens because of what she did in the past (i.e. the tears) it must be "visible" all throughout the 10k years passing, not just after a "timeskip"

Another time frickery problem are the shrines.
Rauru and Sonia built them to cleanse and purify evil, but how the frick did they do those if both of them died?
Like Rauru says this in the begining of the game while on the sky island. So I guess he built them before his death but why would he do that since Ganondorf wasn't a problem and he was just a pest.
So no reason to make them because the reason for them to exist to is to help Link.
Also never mind that all of the shrines are so that they all basically require Link's arm powers to complete them, which would specifically are made specifically for Link.

Which doesn't make much sense since Sonia died and Rauru died himself by sealing Ganon, so neither could have built them.

Honestly what the frick was doing for the past 6 years when making this game?
Smoking crack and smashing their heads into the keyboard?

You can see the shrines are already around in the background in some of Zelda's cutscenes. Rauru's whole power is purifying evil, it didn't need to be connected to Ganondorf's arrival.

The games time travel is on a semi-conditional temporal worm hole. Everything between Zelda arriving in the past and Zelda travelling back doesn't exist beyond a metaphysical level. Actions taken in between that cut are spread across its entirety thus seemingly creating things that appear out of nowhere or vanish without a trace while still being acknowledged by its surroundings.

Are the Zonai, with their white hair and three eyes, supposed to be the ancestors of the Sheikah in some way? Couldn't help but notice that Rauru somehow had a Gerudo Sage, but not a Sheikah.

Is this the story autism thread?
I wish to apologize. I thought the flashback stuff was after Skyward Sword. But it's very obviously not the case, thinking about it. In the memories, Rauru mentions that a male king is born to the Gerudo every 100 years. The reason no male Gerudo has been born since Ganondorf is obvious—it is because Ganondorf was still alive this entire time.
So the concept of OoT and FSA Ganondorf being manifestations of TotK Ganondorf's hatred seeping out is obviously false.
This also probably confirms that no male Gerudo is born after OoT Ganondorf except for other Ganondorfs. In the fallen timeline, Ganondorf endures as Ganon, who just keeps getting sealed. In the child timeline, Ganondorf dies in TP but reincarnates in FSA (probably exactly a century later) and gets sealed as Ganon in the Four Sword. In the adult timeline, Ganondorf gets sealed under the Great Sea. In any case, something must have happened about a century before the flashbacks of TotK where Ganon is finally killed and not just sealed (maybe tied to the timelines seemingly converging, and to Hyrule ceasing to exist as a kingdom and everything going prehistoric by the time the TotK flashbacks take place).
I wonder if this is supposed to be the First Calamity, since it seems to line up with it being a great climactic battle against Ganon right before Hyrule gets rid of its technology, but this Ganon was the original one while the Calamity Ganon of BotW is the result of Ganondorf's AIDS leaking out.

    > they can't have "ancient" geoglyphs appear out of nowhere in the present and already centuries old
Why do you think fossils are millions years old yet the world only has 6000 years? Its because fossils were made 6000years ago as if they had the carbon properties of a million year old fossils.

    >They can't have their cake and eat it too
Well they gave. BotW was a tech demo. They half-assed a story and focused on. mechanics and gameplay. When it did exceptionally well and they were forced to make sequel they had to bullshit things obviously. It's a sequel technically but if you look to hard and try to find parallels it will easily fall apri. Idk why people even try to act like these game shave good story. Decent lore and world building over all but these stories are generic JRPG tier and always will be. Don't think about it too hard. Not worth it.

Time travel is the stuff of lazy motherfrickers. They can just say "oh, this is when two timelines merged", and that's how they explain things appearing out of nowhere. Then characters start to ignore something important in the plot, and the justification is "someone from another timeline interfered with something that altered the reality of this timeline," and so on. Time travel basically gives you the excuse to do anything with the story and pretend there is a consistency.

    >don't acknowledge what timeline botw is in as the zelda timeline was getting too convoluted
    >create multiple timelines anyways with a spin off and the sequel

Why the frick do people care so much about the story of Zelda? It's always barebones as frick and very formulaic.

    >guardians and sheikah tech all vanish completely between games
It doesn't help that the story reads like isekai drivel. "Demon King" is a huge narrative red flag in my book.
