No that would be MGR. I have no idea why MGR causes so much vitriol in this board now. It used to be loved like 2 years ago and now everybody’s shitting on it for some reason.

Because just like everything else, trannies bandwagoned and ruin it with their mere existence.

Back then they weren't full on trannies, but the seed was planted and reflected true what the future entailed:
      >pointless catchphrase spewing/shit humor (i.e. - LE RULES OF LE NATURE and "MEMES JACK", both really early in the game for trannies to easily discover from Let's Plays, remember that trannies dont actually play video games)
      >pretending to be a fan and season vet of the series by bandwagoning super late, will only "discuss" the newer shit games but barely even then

Fricking this, I can guarantee all these troons never played a single MGS game and they even have the nerve to pretend they did. I recall someone saying he played both MGS1 and MGR but not knowing who Gray Fox was.

Eh, MGSV was alright. It had some cool mechanics but people hype it up way too much. It’s undeniably an unfinished game with an empty open world that tried to be an ending to a series that already had three (four?) suitable endings at that point.

This dude gets it. Se people foam at the mouth screaming how kojima is a master writer and then you ask them for their three most memorable moments in V and suddenly the thread is abandoned. No one posts because they might remember one thing but not to others that made the story "insane".

        Anonymous

I haven't finished the game yet, but off the top of my head so far? My top three moments that just happened in the story, and not ones that happened to me naturally in the open world are:
        >Huey scenes, from finding him to his interrogations, showing contrasts just how much things have changed and how cynical boss/kaz have become while Huey thinks everything can go back to normal
        >Quarantine/Parasite cure section, along with Codetalker sequences
        >Sahelantropus escape from Base Camp
Game definitely has it's moments, but it's best parts is being a comfy 80s merc sim for sure

but besides single shot scenes, the more memorable vibe to be was the use of hard geopolitics and cold war thriller elements, I especially enjoyed the early missions of simple mercenary gruntwork and handling warzone logistics and uncovering small bits of world building about corrupt governments being abused by war profiteers and shadow organizations

no shit, MPO was a PSP title that followed up on MGS3, MGR was a CAHRAZY slasher starring Raiden, and honestly, Survive was the best possible case of asset re-use I can think of in recent years, building up on the concepts of open world and zombies that MGS5 had
Each one was good in it's own way, and none of them needed Kojima. Not bad, for a bunch of spinoffs

            >Survive was never going to have much of a story at all, because it is YOUR story, of how a lone MSF soldier got Isekai'd into the zombie world and SURVIVEd
Kojima doesn't break or make those games, I admit that every Metal Gear game he directed was decent, but I can take or leave him. Death Stranding is not my cup of tea, which proves he was not what made those games special, the rest of his studio were

PW absolutely felt like a sequel to 3.

PW shows how Big Boss goes from idolising The Boss and her willingness to die to complete 'the mission', to a man who believes in fighting to survive and in a soldier's right to control their own destiny.

Try again, MGS on the PSX
Kojima is a has been that is now stuck making Norman Reedus cum delivery games for the rest of his career, I am glad that his studio is doing fine without him, and sincerely wish them the best

PW absolutely felt like a sequel to 3.

PW shows how Big Boss goes from idolising The Boss and her willingness to die to complete 'the mission', to a man who believes in fighting to survive and in a soldier's right to control their own destiny.

        >PW felt like a sequel to 3
No, it felt like a sequel to MPO, with Boss taking the idea of MSF from Gene and his "Army's Heaven", he gave him funds to start up his PMC and he started operations in South America, since he was familiar with that area already from the last game. San Hieronymo is even mentioned in the first mission(even if out of spite, but who cares about kojima's hurt ego?)
PW builds up what made the pillars of MPO, and gives it the story and characters it needed, great sequel but it only works if you consider that in MPO he had a complete change of character, being forced to not just fight side by side, but command soviet troops, which laid the foundation of "Soldiers Without Borders"
Real talk, tho? Gene shits all over pic related, I have no clue what Kojima was smoking when he made the cool KGB spook a borderline joke villain and this moron the main antagonist. Just another "genius" moment from him, both Cunningham and Gene were dangerous right until the end in MPO

I like the "everything feels mystically corrupted" nature of the game, kind of like how 1984 does the same thing with the film of the refugees getting shot at that everyone laughs at for no reason just as Winston begins to exit the party theatre.

Whereas the Patriots brainwashing was "eternal war economy as long as there is a clear hero and a villain," Big Boss brainwashing is on a whole another level of pozzing you into thinking that the villain is the hero, ignorance is strength, le vicious wolves are le cute dogs, so forth. All without even needing a Newspeak in fact, which is what makes this game supersede even 1984.

Epin, Kojima. The Japanese simply win at everything. Why do they tho?

      >Why do they tho?
Effeminate intelligance, given that the Japanese are biologically low T chinks. West can not think unironically because they're too masculine, they can only copy and steal and munch. RDR2 is the closest to pioneering creativity in American video games since recent and it's still horseshit.

One thing that gets overlooked a lot about this game is how incredibly well optimized the engine is. I remember playing it on my 3000G and was shocked to see it running at 1080p on medium/high without any stutters at all for almost 60 hours.
For fricks sake, this was ported to PS3/X360 and the servers for those ones just shut down last year, that is some dark tech magic right there

Too bad that engine will be used on nothing else except whenever konami wants to rape the corpse of another of their IPs and use it for pachinko's cutscenes
