I played through this game but it feels like I didn't. Every time I'm reminded of it my brain pulls up the impression of watching a few minutes of gameplay on youtube and hearing the theme song somewhere instead of the experience of playing through the whole game. Really weird
I agree with some of his points, and I even agree it isn't a masterpiece. However, I never saw people calling it a masterpiece and his video is litered with almost every logical fallacy to say how much the game sucks. I really liked Odyssey, but his 2 hour video does nothing except waste his and everyone else time.
I would like this. I think Odyssey's version of Mario is one of the most fun versions of him to control. I really hope we get an Odyssey 2 or at least they reuse those Mario controls for another game.

If you go back and watch his 2017 streams, you can tell he's a gigantic pseud (still is) and that he made up his mind way before the launch that the Switch was going to be the WiiU 2.0 and dead on arrival. So when it started panning out that 2017 was a barnburner year for Nintendo, he kept doubling down. He was smart enough to realize he couldn't really be caught on the wrong side of the BotW conversation so he funneled all his weird animus towards the switch ingo Super Mario Odyssey, and we get this really bizarre and really bad video essay.
Either way I actually enjoy his streams because he's fricking moronic a lot of the time, and it's fun watching him get flustered. His video essays are all pretty bad but SMO takes the cake as just embarrassing for him.

If you're still having fun after that keep collecting moons for the darker side challenge. After that stop playing period because there's nothing else to unlock.

It's pretty good, has the best movement in a 3D Mario. Its soundtrack is forgettable overall and it needed to be more difficult.
