the fugitive pigmy was just the first guy to come in contact with the dark soul. manus also came in contact with it. are they the same person? it's never stated and probably on purpose.
After certain attacks, he goes into an idle walking animation, for atleast 4 seconds. You'll notice it as soon as he begins to walk sideways.

I did this but with the Greatsword and like 18 vitality, it was pure hell. Glad that I learned my lesson, all my characters of the next games have AT LEAST 30 vitality.
The pseudo-requirements each game has for the character's vitality stat makes me feel like it shouldn't be an independent stat, and HP should just scale with overall player level. Let the player's actual bulk be determined by their armour.

he is not hard at all, Dark Souls is an rpg, with the right stats and equipment Manus is perfectly doable by anyone that knows 2 things: when to roll and when to pull up shield.
