If they don't PS5 and Series X are essentially Series S pros

Or third parties will just avoid Xbox entirely.
Not like they'd lose a ton of sales from doing so anyway.

Why though? Third party devs are still developing their games for Xbox One and PS4 and even the Switch, the Series S outperforms all of those consoles easily.

40% of the next-gen market share is Xbox

What was xbox's share in the previous gen? Sony is getting too cocky and its pissing me off. They have literally turned into 2013's xbox and no one brings this up.

The X|S is way closer with the PS5 than the One was to the PS4 but I couldn't tell you the specifics. But from what I gather it's around 50/50 give or take a few percentages, but it's skewed by countries like France and Japan who are deep into Sony's camp.

Well hopefully xbone outsells the ps5.

(As a sidenote i just realised that gamepass could be a dumping strategy)

            It was a lot worse
The main thing to keep in mind is that the PS4 got an early advantage on the Xbox One, and when the rules of networks started to kick in, it benefitted from having a larger playerbase for most multiplayer games.
As of july 2022, PS4 had 120 million sold and Xbone had 50. So that's a marketshare of about 29%. HOWEVER, if we're thinking critically, the number of people who used a PS4 as their primary device was likely much higher.
So by comparison, Xbox is making progress to catch up this gen in a good way. The critical thing this gen is that there isn't a major fuck-up or benefit on either side.
In 5th gen, Playstation being a disc-console AND getting FF7 was an objective benefit that neither Sega nor Ninty could counter (winner: PS1).
In 6th gen, the PS2 being the cheapest DVD player on the market helped make it an easy buy for most parents (winner: PS2).
7th gen had the PS3 being $600 fucking dollars AND being a pain in the ass for 3rd parties to develop for pushed a lot of people to the cheaper box with better-performing ports(winner: Technically the Wii, but Xbox matched the PS3's 80 million units sold).
8th gen had the Wii U and Kinect-mandatory Xbone compete with the cheaper and normal PS4 (winner: PS4)
This gen, there isn't really a clear advantage or screw-up on either side, so the numbers are going to be a lot closer. This is why both companies are moneyhatting so hard: neither competitor has made a big out-of-the-gate fuck-up so they actually have to try.

Even if you buy a series S then upgrade to a series x today, you've saved money over buying from scalers AND its cheaper than the equiv gaming pc.

These are the same devs that produced cyberpunk, no man's sky and fallout 76, so forgive me for asking why I need to buy a £2k graphics card just so they don't have to bother optimizing their games?

I really don't get it. Can your game run on a 1080 or 20170 or RX 580 midrange PC? Then it can run just fine on a series S. I mean, if Cyberpunk and AC Valhalla manage to run at 60 fps, then these indie devs are just outing themselves as being terrible at optimizing their games.

The dev making this claim is the one that made Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread.

    Take that as you will.

Incompetent devs crying again. They are so used to release broken games which make people buy more expensive parts to play it properly.

Why are they doing this if the series s actually exists in stores and I don't have to go online to buy it?
