Marines Malevolent Posted on May 18, 2023 by Anonymous wtf is their problem? Who is their primogenitor?
>wtf is their problem?
They're Iron Warriors.
>Who is their primogenitor?
They're Iron Warriors.
They could be Morty's kids
They aren't cold or pragmatic enough to be Iron Warriors.
crazy how these bros straight up just decided too call them selves malevolent, like these mf just straight up called themselves evil bruh.
fr fr kinda sus no bussin, bruh
There are some pretty questionable marine chapter names
>Knights of Abhorrence
Do you know their colour scheme, sounds edgy cool.
red, white and blue lmao
>red, white and blue lmao
Golem get ye gore
I wish I had it but there's an amusing pasta about this - some Chaos Space Marine leader gets a report of Marines inbound to the system and he asks who, and his underling responds with a few of the names on the list and the leader's happy because he assumes from the names they're Chaos. The underling then corrects him that they're Loyalists, and then says more Marines are inbound. The same exchange goes on, but this time it's Chaos aligned Marines with Loyalist sound names so the script's flipped but it's the same punchline - the leader assumes they're Loyalist forces but then the underling says they're Chaos.
I remember that but I can't find it, must be on some drive, no idea if it's on 1dGanker or something
I remember this there was a bit like
>Emperor's Children? Surely they're loyalists at least
I happened upon it the other day when I was trying to find out if there's anything I should avoid to keep my Word Bearers from looking like World Eaters. It's kinda long so 1/2-3
"My Lord, I bring news."
Typhus Marburg paused in his study of the situation map of the dreary little planet his forces were engaged in ravaging.
"Lord. Starships have appeared in the outer system and are on course for a landing. They have been identified as elements of the Flesh Tearers."
"Yeah? Tell them to sod off and find their own world. Tell 'em we got here first."
"Sire, you misunderstand. They are here to defend this world!"
"What! Why? It's a sorry state of affairs when the followers of Chaos start to defend the weakling Imperium from each other!"
"Um, Lord... the Flesh Tearers are a loyalist chapter."
"They are? With a name like that! Are you sure they're not one of ours?"
"Positive, My Lord."
"Have you been able to call for any assistance?"
"The Astropaths have contacted other forces nearby. Unfortunately this has also alerted other loyalist forces in the sector and they are also headed our way."
"Bugger. So who gets here first then?"
"The Alpha Legion, sire."
"It never rains, it only pours, hey?"
"The Alpha Legion is one of ours."
"I'm confused. You're telling me that a mob called the 'Flesh Tearers' isn't one of ours but a mob called the - what was it again..."
"The Alpha Legion, sire."
"Right... a mob called the Alpha Legion is one of ours."
"That is correct, sire."
"So who else is showing up to this barney then?"
"The Blood Drinkers."
"One of ours?"
"One of theirs."
"The Iron Warriors."
"One of theirs?"
"No. One of ours."
"The Dark Angels."
"Now I've heard of them. Followers of Slaanesh aren't they?"
"No, I think you're thinking of The Fallen, sire. The Dark Angels are Loyalists too."
"Bugger. So who else then?"
"The Emperor's Children."
I imagined the Blackadder cast saying this.
So uh, what’s his chapter’s name?
The Generous Fellows.
Well the only other traitor legion that hasn't been mentioned were the Night Lords.
At the start it mentions that it's Typhus, lad. So the Death Guard.
Can't be, Typhus (or Typhon) was his last name, not his first. Also I'm pretty sure Typhus can't even talk anymore, given that he's basically just a sentient bag of warp hornets now.
Put a smile on my face
>Their colors are green and purple
>The Unnamed (Yes, that is their name)
>Terror Tigers (Not that bad, just fucking dumb)
>The Nameless (Not to be confused with The Unnamed)
But forget names, what's the worst armour style, and can you find anything worse than Warrior Adepts? Pic unfortunately related
>The Unnamed (Yes, that is their name)
>The Nameless (Not to be confused with The Unnamed)
I bet they were named that as a joke, just to fuck with administratum.
>People keep sending in increasingly ridiculous names because all the good names were taken
>Name Field Empty
>Can you pick for me?
>this name is taken, would you like to name your chapter The_Steel_Dragons#2?
>the original Steel Dragons are last noted active early M35 when their fleet and homeworld was destroyed by orks, but the chapter wasn't officially dissolved
This is genuinely hilarious. I also imagine there are just chapters getting named through general Administratum clerical errors and incompetence.
Such glorious chapters include
>This space has been left intentionally blank
>Chapter name here
>So when do I state the name of my Chaper?
All of these sound like Alpha Legion warbands or splinters
>Alpha Legion makes a warband called the Ultra Legion
The highly vindictive chapter of Ultramarines'); INSERT INTO [ExcommunicateTraitoris] SELECT * FROM [Chapters]; --
Its all fun and games until they realize this also applies to any supplies intended to be given to them. That funny prank has led them to be in an even worse position than the Marines Malevolent.
Meanwhile, on the side of Chaos:
>Angels of Flame
>The True Sons
Honestly they need to have a neutral meeting and talk about these fucking names
Oh no you see that's cuz their primogenitor was actually called Malevolent, really nice guy too, idk why his sons are like that
>Brother, are we the baddies?
>wtf is their problem?
well, thy are raging assholes
hot take, it really is dorn
>Who is their primogenitor?
>That one excerpt where Tu'Shan beats the shit out of a MM captain
I would of killed Kevin years ago.
Writers of Armageddon needed the salamanders to look better
Imagine being iron warriors and dressing up like impotent fists
>who is their primogenitor
Hey man, what's your problem?
the emperor said he needed the biggest non heretical dicks so I gave him the biggest non heretical dicks
>Wtf is their problem.
IIRC the Marines Malevolent have a mutated Ossmodula/Biscopa. Their long bones form but develop issues at the joints.
Basically turbo Arthritis/bone cancer. In their everywhere
Now while this isn't a functional problem for the Chapter, given their power armour doesn't care if your finger joints are calcified, and that Space Marine medicine says "keep moving the joints if they're hurting, so they don't fuze", they can still fight and win, so were passed at their founding. But it leaves them INCREDIBLY ill-tempered, given that they're in intense chronic pain at every action, and are the forefront defenders of humanity, because they chose to give their lives up for a chance at being astartes.
>Who is their Primogenitor?
Almost definitely Dorn.
Pain narrative (except instead of being stoic, they dump it onto others). Colour palette. Lack of functioning geneseed organs.
where did you read this this is literally fanfiction
nta, but i remember that being a joke in a TTS podcast, that they have some sort of cancer in their ass that's why they're butt hurt all the time
thats probably where it started
>some dude makes an ass cancer joke
>someone else begins headcanoning that MM have a bone cancer that causes them to be constantly agitated
>anons come here and claim it's straight up canon
Warhammer 40K fans truly have the Orkish power of belief. Just wait until the Vulkan book comes out and there'll be a line about the MM and the reason they're so arrogant and violent.
>the Orkish power of belief.
funny enough this is another case of the fan head canon telephone game. It was only mentioned that their shit guns are less likely to jam in their hands, but people made it into ork guns just being empty magic boxes that spit bullets via sheer willpower.
Wasnt that a retcon?
The idea of a warp field has been around since Waaargh da orks and 'ere we go. But the fandom has taken an interesting concept and turned it into something retarded that gets parroted by everybody that has never even read the books.
Blame the quick 40k lore youtubers, I'm pretty sure all of them has talked about 'what orks beleive literally comes true' I remember examples they've given as 'Orks can breathe vacuum when they pop their heads out the window of their spaceships, guns firing with no bullets, red literally going faster at all times, the emperor being super powerful because the orks beleive him to be powerful after Ullanor
It might be the Mandela Effect but there was a fiction supplement about aliens that put forward this idea. It was the same one that had Eldars shitting crystals. Granted GW subsequently de-canonized it.
>It was the same one that had Eldars shitting crystals.
Oh shit you just reminded me of the Eldar shit crystal necklace story lmao thank you
I think it was Xenology for both. Eldars shit crystals, Ork weapons were hunks of metal that had no function and only worked because Orks believed or something.
They're just incredibly bitter.
Primarch is either Pert or, more likely, some of the Loyalist Death Guard.
That's stupid- Dorn's gene-seed fuckery plays with the Betcher's Gland. Issues with the bones are seen in Iron Warriors and Salamanders- And they're most certainly not Vulkan's boys.
>wtf is their problem?
they're pragmatic to the extreme. they're not going to waste their bullets or men fighting to save a bunch of civilians when the imperium has an overabundance of them and they're certainly not going to risk their mission for them.
The real problem for them is they're stuck in cycle of doing whatever it takes to achieve victory which due to their limited resources means going to extremes to do so. this leads to them getting a bad reputation among the top brass of the imperium which then leads to them getting less resources which just means they have to be even bigger assholes to achieve victory.
though really they haven't done anything worse than any other chapter. they just made the mistake of doing shitty things in front of the Salamanders
I'm also biased as i play them
>they're stuck in cycle of doing whatever it takes to achieve victory which due to their limited resources means going to extremes to do so. this leads to them getting a bad reputation among the top brass of the imperium which then leads to them getting less resources
They are fucking retarded then:
Doing things that rises their reputation makes them have more resources and surely get more victories and successful missions.
It's a very simple silogism.
>They are fucking retarded then:
>Doing things that rises their reputation makes them have more resources and surely get more victories and successful missions.
You'd think that. But the MM are also unrepentant assholes who don't really see themselves doing anything wrong in the first place.
Which is one of the many reasons why I love them
Wait, he didn’t take a Black Sword did he? I cannot imagine the Templars leaving that. For any reason.
Here's the previous page for context if that helps
What’s this from? Kinda wanna read it.
One of the marines malevolent short stories.
Its by Nike Kyme so your mileage may vary.
They very specifically do things other chapters don't do, and enjoy doing it. They're for people who want to be Chaos but don't want to commit to the homosexual bit.
Every Space Marine chapter indulges and relishes in genocide, anon. Just because the Marines Malevolent do so with ordinary commoners doesn't make them special. Chapters like the Lamenters or Salanamanders that specifically go out of their way to protect weak and useless ordinary humans are one in a thousand, quite literally.
This art makes me wish people around here did Kill Team. it would be nice to just be able to do fluffyt little projects without being commited to a hard-to-paint color scheme for a whole army.
>have a backlog of various models (Fantasy to 40k)
>Make a promise to paint them before buying
>see a lot of models for a nice price, even a contemptor dred
>want to buy
>remember my backlog
>Remember a promise ive made to myself
I am in pain.
Fuck wrong thread sorry
Wait, this is an actual canonical chapter?
I though they were a meme like the Angry Marines?
I love the fact its implyed they got primaris marines by finding custodes defending the tech from Nids and waiting for the Custodes to be all but killed before bombing the nids to oblivion
"Oh, that one's too easy. They're obviously loyalists with a name like that."
"Um, not exactly my Lord."
"Yes, Lord. They're one of ours too."
"This is silly. All the really evil sounding names are being used by weakling loyalists while it seems as though the forces of chaos have got the naff monikers. Are there any more of these I should know about?"
"A few, Lord."
"OK then, spell it out for me, starting with Loyalists that sound like traitors and then moving onto traitors that sound like Loyalists."
"I will attempt to do so, Lord. OK - the Loyalists that sound like traitors... the Marauders, Rampagers, Destroyers and Storm Lords (all White Scar second foundings in point of fact)."
"I like the sound of the Storm Lords. You sure they aren't one of ours?"
"Quite sure. Then there's the Blood Drinkers and the Flesh Tearers - both of which are Loyalist second founding of the Blood Angels."
"With names like that I'd always assumed they were more bone headed followers of the blood god."
"Not so far, My Lord. Then there's the Red Talons..."
"I thought they were renegade pirates."
"No Lord, that's the Red Corsairs."
"Oh. OK. Continue."
"The Brazen Claws are loyalists too."
"Good name for a Khornate force though isn't it?"
"Yes Lord. Then there's the Black Guard (not to be confused with the Black Legion which IS one of ours), the Revilers, and the Raptors."
"Hold on a minute! The Raptors? They're definitely ours. Hell we've got a small unit of them attached to our forces haven't we?"
"My Lord, those are the troops known as Raptors but there is also a loyalist chapter with the same name."
"Must get a bit confusing for the loyalists then?"
"I imagine so, My Lord. There are also the Doom Eagles, the Silver Skulls, and the Iron Hands (not to be mistaken for the Iron Warriors, who are ours)."
"Bloody hell. Is that it?"
"There are also some lesser known chapters that also seem to cause occasional confusion."
"The Doomfarers are one that our forces have occasionally encountered."
"Oh yeah. Those yoyos. So what about the Chaos forces that sound like loyalists then..."
"Well as mentioned earlier there are The Emperor's Children, The Iron Warriors, the Thousand Sons, the Lunar Wolves (who changed their name to the Sons of Horus and then to the Black Legion)..."
"Well at least they're easily IDed as one of ours now. The Black Legion eh? Now that's a proper name. Just postively oozes evil from every pore."
"Yes, Lord. To continue, there are also the Word Bearers, and the Alpha Legion."
"The Word Bearers? What kind of silly name is that for a Chaos Legion?"
"They used to be missionaries sire"
"We you'd think that once they switched to our side they'd change their name to something a little more in keeping with being evil mad men. I mean come on 'The Word Bearers'? It's a silly name."
"Yes my Lord"
"You know, I think the forces of Chaos should have proper Chaos names. There's no room for mistakes when you're called something like 'The World Eaters' or 'The Death Guard'..."
"Actually Lord, both those chapters had those names when they were loyalists."
"No, My Lord."
"Yeesh. I would have thought names like that would be a bit scary for the average imperial citizen. I mean "Yay we're being rescued by the World Eaters" just doesn't sound credible while "Aargh! Flee! It's the World Eaters" seems much more likely."
"Yes, My Lord. I believe the latter is more likely these days anyway."
"Makes no bloody sense at all."
"Yes, My Lord."
"Kill them all and let the Chaos Gods sort out, I say."
"Sounds like a completely reasonable approach to me, My Lord."
nice fuckin monocle!
This image hits hard. You can just feel the unrewarded smugness of the Marines Malevolent and the barely disguised contempt of the other marines.
Thats why I really like them.
Something about them being just huge pieces of shit while still being loyal to the imperium is why I started this army.
Plus there was a really annoying salamanders and tau players at my FLGS who kept arguing about whos the real "good guys" of the setting. Sl i started this army just to spite them
Another equally based move would have been to go Lamenters.
Yeah but now I can role play warcrimes on their respective faction
Have a reaction image
Oh god, I never thought seeing a marine smile would look so weird. The perms scowl makes more sense now
>"HEY! HEY RED SCORPION!"
>"What is it, brother Bullius?"
>"RED SCORPION? MORE LIKE RED SCORPI-ASS!"
>"...Is that really appropriate, brother Bullius?"
>"MY BOLTER UP YOUR ASS IS APPROPRIATE, NERD!"
>"...this is getting tiresome."
>"YEAH, SO IS YOUR FUCKING FACE!"
I don't even play this game, but christ, this is why I'm a secondary. That image does such a good job of selling the idea that the yellow dudes are assholes, and now that idea will live in my head forever, and be much funnier than it probably should be.
>this is why I'm a secondary
you mean pussy? why do you seemingly revel in that? why do you embrace this gay terminology? i'm not advocating playing gw's trash. you're a bitch.
>and be much funnier than it probably should be
at least you're right about that.
I'm afraid that your objections are incomprehensible to me. Warhammer isn't that great, but people who talk about warhammer are great, they always have been.
>I'm afraid that your objections are incomprehensible to me.
you're a gay. you certainly talk like one. comprehend that?
Cool, roleplay thread. Mind if I join in?
>Why don't you suck my geneseed, cousin? Your chapter could use the manpower! Or rather, men at all!
>people who talk about warhammer are great
What the fuck are you talking about? /tg/ is full of spastic retards and youtubers are plastic men reading wikipedia pages.
Well for a summary of these walking streaks of piss. https://1dGanker.org/wiki/Marines_Malevolent
I love asshole marines. Reconning them to be "muh traitor geneseed" is lame and gay.
Mortifactors are great for a similar reason.
I thought mortifactors were just tribal/a bit extreme in taking trophies, what makes them assholes?
>Ultramarines have some extremely kino successors tbh
They need to be stomped out by the Salamanders and Ultramarines. Space marines are supposed to be noble and heroic champions who stand up for the little man and smash tyranny. Roboute and Yvraine need to come down hard on these idiots
Weird, I've just started watching Farscape and now someone posts Rygel (best boy) in a thread about the Marines Malevolent (best chapter).
oh my god, yes sistser! Smash fash! down with the imperium!
>wtf is their problem?
Wait, does he have nails on his power armour?
Near the bolter arm? That's rebar from the rubble. If it's on the beak then it's just a smile painted on.
I think he meant the fingernails.
Oh, now that you say I get it. Yeah, that MM must've taken that armour from an EC or something. That's some fancy lad armour right there.
So he can paint them?
Their problem is schitophrenic writing that heavily favoritises other chapters becoming "canon".
The MM are ultra pragmatists who get results and don't care about anything else. Terra points them at a problem, they solve that problem in the way most efficient - for them. Civilians and IG are expendable. Marines and war gear are not. Likewise though, weapons and armor are just fucking weapons and armor. No one gives two licks of a saucy dick how old your bolter Is who who used it where. It is a bolter, it shoots bolts.. they are space marines stripped of any of the ritual, spiritualism, or phony balony moto shit. They're just here to kill. Concepts like honor, conduct, these are psychological motivators for HUMANS that keep them loyal and brave. Space Marines are child soldiers indoctrinated by physical and psychic surgery to get off on violence and have a rerouted fight or flight reaction.
Marines Malevolent are the ultimate manifestation of what the Emperor saw and used space marines and thunder warriors as. Inhuman, inhumane weapons to be discarded when no longer necessary.
It's novels like the salamder books that has them doing things like having to steal other people's supplies and being petulant about it because imperium did a big meanie and won't give them bullets. Do you really think the imperium would fucking care if their soldiers were all war criminals? The imperium whole shtick is how vast and uncaring it is. Or it was when the MM were introduced.
Concepts like honour and conduct are the glue that holds the Imperium together. They don't give a shit about how old a bolter is or what chapter it originally belonged to, or what legendary foe was slain using that power sword, but other chapters do. They don't play by the rules that other Marines and the Mechanicum follow, and so they are excluded and have to steal supplies from other people, and then they get further excluded, which forces them to steal more shit which gets them further excluded.
Maybe don't give your space child soldiers full autonomy with minimal to no oversite then if you want them to follow rules
> honor holds the Imperium together!!!
Yes, retard. If you actually read the lore then it's very clear that the Imperium holds honour in very high regard. If every Imperial faction was honourless and just reneged on every promise and obligation as soon as it became inconvenient to them there wouldn't be any fucking planets left to defend after a hundred years
Anon, the only thing holding the Imperium together is the Imperial Faith which makes people act completely irrationally and against their own best interests. Honor was never a factor. In fact, the Emperor is one of the most dishonorable people in 40k, as are his Primarchs, as are the Space Marines.
That is the blandest, gayest shit imaginable. Congrats.
They're boring with only that element, but when combined with
it makes for a cool chapter. They're a chapter in a neverending death spiral because they're too autistic to socialize with the other chapters and that only leads to them becoming more autistic until they (might) eventually get declared traitors. Maybe they'll hang out with the Night Lords or Iron Warriors after that.
>Do you really think the imperium would fucking care if their soldiers were all war criminals?
>Me, a perfectly normal anon, looking over at the Inquisition and dudes like the Minotaurs and remembering how the Flesh Tearers are one step away from being Excommunicate Traitoris for their uncontrollable team-killing at any given time, Roboute Guilliman's desire to reform Space Marines
Mmmmmmmmmmaybe . . . .
Exactly. They're a take on hard men making hard choices. Their pragmatism succeeds temporarily at the cost of their long-term supply chain, forcing them to double down and causing a death spiral like the Imperium in miniature.
You fashy bros are the biggest gays in the world holy shit
They ain't "fash". There isn't a single ideology in the world that says you ought to act like what anon describes the MM as.
In general from a strictly political/military standpoint it's almost always useful to have at least a few assholes around who will do things no one else will and take the heat for it like champs.
they despise people to weak or cowardly to fight for themselves. So there you go.
There was a campaign website some 15(?) years ago detailing that. Can't think of the event that was for from the top of my head.
Marines Malevolent honestly rule. Their schtick is so dumb that it's hilarious and wraps around to being cool. They're on the short list of chapters that I would actually collect and paint, but that'll never happen because that would require me to give GW money (and I'm not interested in third party minis)
In a work of collaborative fiction it can help to set limits to prevent "power creep". The Marines Malevolent are such a limit, they are the worst people a loyalist chapter can be, the exact bottom of the barrel. Similarly the Lamenters also function as a cap, they are the best people space marines can be.
In one of the OG horus heresy books its implied they are remanents of the death guard loyalists Les by Crysos Morturg.
Its said his ship was the Malevolent and his black shield forces were once refered to as the Marines of the Malevolent.
I don't know how canon that is though
Black library and the heresy series have been a disaster for the setting and i'm tired of pretending otherwise.
I prefer the Marines Malevolent being of loyalist gene stock.
I like that they have no excuse for their behavior. Theyre just assholes for the for the love of the game
That would be pretty cool, i still like the idea that they’re just asshole IF though
Because obviously if you're an asshole in 40k it must be because you are secretly from the asshole legions that rebelled 10k years ago, thus validating your legacy of assholism.
Retarded arguments like this were common among the retarded fanbase but they have been validated more and more by the retarded writers who used to belong to the fanbase and are now pushing their fanfiction.
