    First game is great
    The rest are painfully mediocre

The only good one is Inside story
      The rest are mediocre
      Glad the studio died

Actual chad opinion here. All of them are good besides Paper Jam, and that's really only because of its bad story and lack of anything creative done with the crossover.

Actual actual chad opinion here: Partners in Time was stupid. Dream Team was Alphadream running out of ideas and recycling Bowser's Inside Story. Paper Jam was rushed and bland.
        The rest are good.

      Glad the studio died

If alpha dream remastered inside story on the switch, they would still be alive. They release it to the 3ds in 2018/2019 when the console was barely clinging to life.

Almost anything Mario on the switch sells millions of copies

They didn't have the resources to make an acceptable quality Switch version. Notice the heavy asset reuse and even the giant bowser fights looked noticeably worse than the ones in Dream Team.

I fucking love this game so much, just seeing the cover art made me start hearing music from the game in my head
I've probably played it three times as a kid
I've played Inside Story as well but it doesn't feel as magical
    >the part with the prince who is the egg
    >when you unlock the hammers by knocking some stone down or something
    >when you go through the cask maze
    >when you go to that island and unlock the hand powers
    >when you fight the soda bottle
    >when you fight the big fat woman
    >when you rescue peach in the desert and there are people with spears that fight you
    >when you get trapped on that ship in the desert and have to beat some guy in a minigame
    >when you fight those bushes
    >when you have to do the puzzles with the lasers and fight those cool enemies
    >THAT ENTIRE MUSHROOM PART
    >THAT PART AT THE YOSHI THEATER
It's probably in my top 5 favourite games of all time

So much better than Super Mario RPG
I also liked Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door

Superstar Saga is pretty good and the most well-rounded of the series but not its highest point

Partners in Time was its lowest point, they didn't progress far enough from SS while also walking back in a fair number of regards

Bowser's Inside Story was really good but Giant Bowser battles sucked really bad, especially in light offfffff

Dream Team's dream battles weren't as hype as the idea of playing as Bowser but in actual execution they had way more spectacle going for them, they returned to Superstar Saga's slapstick execution for Bros. Attacks, and Giant Luigi battles kick the shit out of Giant Bowser battles and take their lunch money

Paper Jam had a really good difficulty curve but literally nobody asked for a Mario & Luigi + Sticker Star collab game. I feel they had no idea of what to do for a control scheme for Paper Mario, and the Trio Attacks ended up being inferior in length and power to normal Bros. Attacks

Starlow had already overstayed her welcome by Dream Team and I feel Alphadream also knew it, given they were reusing as many sprites as possible by that point and because Starlow names herself the Star Spirits' emissary to PEACH'S FUCKING VACATION

I feel Dream Team is the best one even though it's also insanely long and it's not as consistently good as Superstar Saga. It's a swan-song for the series and tries to go out on itself with a bang

I can't be the only one who liked PiT. Controlling 4 characters with 4 buttons was kino.

PiT honestly has the most unique setup and story out of all of the games, and I really like its style, but gameplay wise it's probabaly the weakest of the series.

I thought it was really disappointing but still fun. Not having an actual overworld was a significant downgrade.

I feel like the peak Mario & Luigi game would feature Peach and Daisy as 3rd and 4th party member. Be a fun idea since Nintendo has been letting Peach participate now in platformers.

Obviously it should have been Wario/Waluigi as partners instead.

I like Superstar Saga the best. I like it even more when I realized it has a lot of stuff that would be a no no for Nintendo. Stuff like implied child abuse, Queen Bean calling Bowser after he was fused with Cackletta an "it", mocking kids with autism. Probably a lot more stuff that I didn't pick up when I was a kid.

      >mocking kids with autism
what the fuck? are you talking about fawful's "kid who is stupid" speech near the end of the game or something

Yeah, that's the one I'm thinking right now. At least that's how it feels like. I could be interpreting the line wrong.

    SS combo attacks the best

I played superstar saga a few years ago and didn't really like it, I enjoyed legend of the seven stars a lot more. The timing-based combat stuff was way too easy and there weren't enough new ideas in each dungeon. I never had any problem inputting stuff like or dodging enemy attacks so once I got to a new dungeon and figured out how the enemies worked in 1 or 2 battles there was nothing else to keep me entertained for the rest of each dungeon, it was the same thing over and over but unlike other JRPGs, even easy ones, I was never at any risk of dying throughout

    First game was fucking amazing.
Never got around to any of the others but I heard they were all mediocre so I never bothered with them.

Good first game. Second game isn't as good but it's overhated. Third game is better than the second but still overrated. Fourth game wound up being fairly boring.
    FUCK
    PAPER
    JAM
No idea what they were thinking with the remakes of SSS/BiS, but I'm guessing they weren't since they ended up going bankrupt anyways.

Bowser's Inside (Peach) Story was the best rpg on the DS, granted I'm biased because it helped put me out of my misery during a bout of Insomnia. But that aside it's still good and it's criminal that Nintendo pulled a Disney on them.

The 2D sections kind of blow though, I'll admit that.

Typically they're a lot of fun and then they ruin it with a backtracking section to extend the length of the game.

Peaked with the first entry already and the series went on to be incapable of recapturing that magic.
BiS really worked as its own thing at least, rest is varying degress of mediocre.
Dream Team is terrible to replay but could be so much better if you could just skip dialogue.
