It's a great game if you like to smoke weed and get high or drink beer an get drunk.
The best part is he never runs out of the going back in time potion.
>tfw 75% of Ganker wasn't even born when that video was made
>tfw they probably first heard of soulja boy from the jontron video in like 2019
I remember when this was considered the pinnacle of indie games. Weird it's kind of forgotten
Same with Fez really. These days there are so many games coming out that if something doesn't get forced into the public consciousness via franchise then its going to get lost in the sea. There are a ton of indie games that were huge in 2007-2011 that have been almost entirely forgotten. Remember when Trials HD and Shadow Complex were considered a big deal? I wonder if The Witness will fare better in the long run just because it came out in a post-youtube game analysis world and thus left a bigger archival footprint.
Remember Trine?
they dropped the ball with trine. trine 2 and 3 didn't add much on top of the 3 characters gimmick and the physics. apparently there's a fourth game too.
Played trine 4 with some friends. It's fine, but the magician's physics shenaniganery kind of break the game.
the ‘cake is a lie’ level gave me too many cringe chills to continue with the series, on too of other anons saying it never evolved in gameplay past the first game
what I do to get around webp shit is I save, open in paint and then save as a different file tpye
True. Seems to be the only option.
I swear I have that but nothing has ever popped up for it.
I installed the "Don't accept webp" extension for Firefox and have never found an image that didn't have a jpeg/png fallback.
macOS has a built in image converter in it's right click menu too.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-webp-as-png-or-jpeg/
Here, next time try googling
>"BUT I USE CHROME"
Then find the alternative
>"BUT I USE MOBILE"
Fricking kek

Aint no point to the game.
AIN'T NO POINT TO THE GAME
YOU JUST WALK AROUND AND JUMP ON SHIT
its genuinely is odd how braid is just kind of forgotten
Fez is pretty forgotten too now. I guess kickstarting the indie craze is about all they were really good for because otherwise they're just forgettable games.
Fez is forgotten both because it's a forgettable game and because everyone subconsciously knows it's what Phil deserves, same goes for Blow. I still listen to soulja boy to this day though, he made based music and trolled moronic redditors for selling dumb chinese knockoff consoles for no reason lmao
*by selling
This. I enjoyed Fez, but after finding out Phil Fish is a total piece of shit, quite possibly worse than Hitler. I retroactively found myself disliking it. I am physically disgusted whenever Fez is mentioned now.
Fez is forgotten like every game that relies on ARG shit.
Yeah weird. Looking it up for the first time in years, turns out the dev is making an anniversary edition.
>Repainted textures
>4K resolution support
>Dev commentary on the game
Although according the wikipedia page, it was supposed to come out 2 years ago. Last update was back in 2021. So I guess the remaster is stuck in development hell
he should hire soulja boy to voice the dev commentary
Wasn't there some remaster announced a while ago?
It was the first indie "deconstruction of a retro game" but it was just a bad artsy puzzle platformer
Because it was fricking shit
It was a boring fricking puzzle platformer with a hilariously bad 2deep4u hidden message
i don't even understand why people liked it to begin with, i thought limbo was far better and playdead topped that kino once more with inside.
The time rewind gimmick was pretty unique and there wasn't a huge sea of indie games back then so it was easier to stand out.
it's too bad that guy's new game about aliens sort turned out meh. limbo and inside were pure kino.
As mid as it was you could tell how much of Inside and Limbo's DNA remained in it, I just really hope the one that left doesn't actually effect Playdead's next kino turns out. Limbo and Inside are the only modern movie games I really enjoy, even though there's no real practical reason to go through Inside I still replay it from time to time because it's such a fun interactive spectacle told entirely through gameplay. Somerville had sort of the same vibe as Inside but didn't capture the set pieces, sound design, framing, and for the love of god direction, Somerville is directed like just another generic point and click adventure game while Inside really feels like you're playing a sidescrolling movie. It's clear he wasn't the real talent.
The only reason it even got pushed to begin with was because Xbox had nogaems and relied on indie showcases to pad their game lineup.
it was yet another shitty indie game in sea of shitty indie games, I'm more surprised anyone even remembers it
This. 9999/10000 indie games are utter trash. Just because some came out earlier in the indie craze than others doesn't make them masterpieces.
Replayed it last year and its a solid puzzle game that aged very well.
The section at the end where you follow the princess then it's reversed to show you were chasing her is genuinely clever.
>genuinely clever
I remember liking the puzzles and music, but I can see why people remember it as being a bit up its own ass with the vague story elements.
Is it about strained interpersonal relationships, or is it weirdly abrupt symbolism of the development of nuclear warfare? I don't know.
It doesn't help that the books between chapters are 100% filler and just serve as flavour text for gimmick of the chapter while in order to read some books in epilogue section (aka the only section where plot matters) you need to do some truly moronic stuff, so the "deep symbolism" doesn't even go over normal player's head, it never interacts with them in the first place due to being hidden.
Because it and Fez weren’t good in the first place, but big fishes in shallow pools.
I use paint.net to convert .webp to .png and .jpg
that era of xbla was really cool.
>braid
>limbo
>the maw
>castle crashers
>splosion man
>shadow complex
i liked N+
shadow complex is an interesting one. it's one of the earliest games I can think of that's an example of lefty twitter trying to cancel something.
And it was because of the original books' author, rather than the game itself.
imagine telling somebody back in 2009 that in the future, twitter would be trying to cancel a harry potter game in a similar manner.
Nobody really cared about the game, Orson Scott Card just got into some hot water around the same time. Why anyone would be surprised that he's got some fashy takes is beyond me, I thought everyone read Ender's Game in middle/high school and the writing is on the wall.
>Nobody really cared about the game
most people didn't, you're right, I just remember a bunch of more liberal types kicking up dust around it saying you were a homophobe if you bought Shadow Complex. Like actually I can vividly remember a video of Anthony and Ashley Burch joking about it, now that I think about it. Back before I knew who Anthony Burch was and how glad I am to not be him.
I liked Shadow Complex a lot :(, I just think games that have intended sequence-breaking in them is cool.
The puzzles themselves were fine
The plotline where this whole time the princess was actually escaping from Tim was fine
The plotline where princess was a code name for nuclear bomb and Tim was a scientist was moronic and unnecessary (not like it wasn't hidden by moronic bullshit like "wait 5 hours for this cloud to move across the screen" anyway)
PS3 PSN also had cool stuff like Fat Princess
I have never beaten Trine 2
>Trine 1 had unique concept, and even with lackluster number of enemies (oops it's all skeletons) the puzzles themselves were fine and graphics was cool, also the puzzles in Trine 1 were actually designed around both solo mode and multiplayer mode
>Trine 2 nerfed some unique abilities and replaced them with more restricted ones, replaced skeletons with goblins while NOT improving combat whatsoever (so you actually hate fighting enemies on hardest difficulty) and designed every puzzle around multiplayer mode only (while in order to clear the game in solo mode you HAVE to level very specific skills for characters)
Apparently Trine 3 went full 3D and ended up being short, which pissed off too many fans, which is why Trine 4 is 2.5D again, but I never played those two anyway - after being stuck on some Trine 2 level (the one after you kill goblin king and non-flower sister teleports you to ice level, I think) I just dropped the series
>PS3 PSN also had cool stuff like Fat Princess
Fat Princess, Crash Commando, Everyday Shooter, yeah PSN was good back then too.
You can get a chrome extension to right click save webp's as png or jpg
Actually not a bad game, from what I remember. I think it's own pretentiousness hurt it in the long run. All anyone remembers is that it was one of those games that tried to be "art", and not the fun mechanics.
You know on the age old question of "Can video games be art"?
I think it can be art if it's a passion project by developers that truly have a great vision they want to show you. However, video games that are created to be art aren't art. Or rather, those games are akin to modern art of stapling a banana to a wall and calling it thought provoking.
Just rename it to .jpg moron
i liked this game
sometimes it made me feel smart
souljaboy?
TELL 'EM
Trine was good fun. I had it on the first 3x3 I ever made. Then I barely touched Trine 2 and never bothered with 3.
Same.
>mario if he stalking Peach
i'll forever associate this game with soulja boy
Mario and the imaginary relationships

The spoiler isn't fricked up though.
kiss me thru the phone will forever remain a more based and recognized piece of art than braid could ever hope to be
Would pay money to see soulja boy review The Witness.

I remember seeing my friend play this game way back in the day, is it really true that the little guy you play is supposed to be some historical figure and that the whole game is some big pretentious metaphor about the manhattan project?
I vaguely remember that interpretation, the one if you collect all the mcguffins? Wasn't there one where you had to manipulate time for something absurd like 20 minutes straight to unlock? The 'true' ending's 'big deal' was flipping the narrative into the MC chasing the princess while she runs away, instead of trying to save her.

Keep in mind Youtube relies heavily on webp for thumbnails, so good luck if you disable it.
Copy paste works on webp.
Its about the atom bomb you nitwit, not your edgy incel fantasies
I really liked it, I think it deserves to be remembered more. It was kinda pretentious, but I thought it worked well in game, as often happens it was fans that made it seem more pretentious than it really was.
Frick those hidden stars though

anyone remember that one early indie game on steam that was like an RTS where your units were little digital bleeps and bloops and it took place inside a digital world? what was that called?
Darwinia?
that's the one. I remember when I got Half Life 2 and made a steam account in high school, this and also dark messiah I think were two of the earliest non-valve games on the platform.
Magicka had its 12th birthday last week.
That blew my mind.
You can copy an image and paste in the reply
I miss that era of indie games during 2008-2011. Now everything is super saturated and it's difficult to find a decent new indie game unless you shill like a motherfricker (Pizza Tower). Why does Valve not care about curating anymore? Greenlight wasn't perfect but it's better than whatever the frick they're doing now. Ever since 2015 the amount of shovelware being added to Steam has quadrupled each year exponentially.
Member machinarium

I loved world of goo, that shit was the perfect mobile game
World of Goo is great. Probably still 2D Boy's best.
Machinarium is unfortunately Amanita's weakest game, I'd say.

>The final level, in which everything but Tim moves in reverse, depicts the princess escaping from a knight, and working together with Tim to surpass obstacles and meet at her home. Tim is suddenly locked out of the house, and, as time progresses forward, reversing Tim's actions, the events show the princess running from Tim, setting traps that he is able to evade, until she is rescued by the knight. Tim is revealed to be the "monster" from whom the princess is running.
Pretentious AND cuckoldry. Truly deserving of a remake with commentary for this age we live in.
It was actually quite clever back in the day. The way it was set up really worked for what they were going for. I don't epect the mongoloid youth of today to get it though considering they accuse discarded chocolate bar wrappers of being "leftist" or "nazi" these days. I'm legitimately in awe at how far intelligence levels have dropped over a decade.
>It was actually quite clever
What if Princess Peach didn't want Mario and wanted a chad instead? Very clever.
The incel mindset is ruining an entire generation of males.
Nintendo totally ripped off Braid for Super Mario Odyssey.
>what the frick i had to take a screenshot of the image to save it to get around the webp bullshit
This annoys me to. Happens a lot.
Why are you people even saving images to begin with?
You dont need to. Just paste the image url in the "file name" and it will be posted.
Try it now and see
Because there's guarantee you'll be able to find an image you want in the future if it's not saved on your hard drive. Also some people care about quality and want their images not degraded and cropped by constant recompression lots of hosting sites do.
Sounds like you got malware. I don't get anything like that. Using FF with uBlock Origin on my phone though.

Though seriously, every browser on iOS is just Safari (webkit). Get an adblocker from the app store, they've existed since iOS 9.

Many such cases.
my iphones have all been hand-me-downs from family who are obsessed with getting the latest iphone models
which is why i haven’t gotten an android yet
Adguard is free
Hoarding?
>he too obsessively downloads every image off Ganker
Very based. Just upgraded my NAS to 48TB to handle the increasing file size limits.
why is Ganker on mobile allowing invasive ads now? they take over the entire tab and present a google impersonation scam
>he doesn't use an adblocker
Why would I expect anything less from phoneposters?

Every time.
hitting printscreen is pirating goy. im reporting you to the aclu, fbi, and blm.
When my mate first played it he decided it was Super Mario on acid in Ireland. That's quite an apt description to this day.
Worst 2bux i ever spent. Coulda just bought Event Horizon on dvd or bluray for that kind of story
I bought this game because it was like 50 extra cents in a bundle with the witness. Is it worth playing?
I miss them
Indies were in such a good spot in the late 2000s/early 2010s.
What the frick happened. Now everything's either an Earthbound ripoff or is flash game tier shit being sold for $10+.

Why is half the thread grandstanding about how they know how to circumvent webp wtf
Because OP explicitly made that the topic of the thread as that's what most of his post is about.
He spoilered it and was obviously intended as a passing comment. But this is Ganker so Im not surprised people jump at the chance for off topic posts.
It was the longer of the two sentences.
>save image as
>image.webp|
>del-del-del-del-j-p-g
>save
That only works if the underlying image is encoded as a JPEG.
Some WebPs seem to be encoded as WebPs, meaning changing the extension doesn't actually change the format.
WebPs seem like the MKVs of image files (as in different formats can exist within a WebP container).
Also I hate how OneDrive saves my pictures taken with my phone as HEICs.

I sure hope Hiro allows webp before a new standard takes over.
Yes, that is correct.
I absolutely will.
Just got a new android phone. What adblockers would you recommend?
UBlock Origin (NOT UBlock, that's a virus); Accept NO substitute.
