Mario Kart 8 thread
Does anyone else find the (what I guess are tour style) giant glowing arrows telling you where the course expects you to be really lazy and tacky looking? Like it doesn't show up on the base game, where signage is usually tailor made to the stages aesthetic and theme, and frankly it just seems like a symptom of poor track design if you have to buy huge glowing arrows to make sure players know where they're going. It should be pretty organically obvious
I don't really see how else you would do the complicated courses that change routes every lap.
Honestly not really, the only tacky one is in Kalimari Desert where a giant frick you ramp appears out of fricking nowhere and vanishes the next lap.
What does that look like if you're just standing there or very far behind? Does it even have an animation?
it's basically a way for them to do different routes every lap.
Before anyone mentions Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed, that game has wildly different track design than Mario Kart, and wildly different mechanics. In Sonic's case it's more for the spectacle. In Mario Kart's case it's for variety.
My friends and I tried the tour DLC .and one particular course was so needlessly complicated that they had to add all these stupid arrows so you don't get lost. bad low quality courses.
They were designed for Mario Kart Tour which controls the game about 80% for you, so they got more ambitious in having really open tracks that divert you to different routes or directions every lap. I agree that it doesn't really work in real Mario Kart, I find that the arrows are too unnoticeable most of the time and I crash right into them.
I haven't had any issues knowing where to go really, I just thing they're kinda ugly and cheap feeling
frick New York minute
Is it just me or are the pinballs fricking brutal now
did they fix the boulders not doing anything in choco mountain? even if you get hit, nothing happens
Are the new tracks playable in online matchmaking yet? Or in 3 days’ time like wave 1?
they're currently active, just played one myself.
giant glowing arrows have been a staple in racers since forever. see mario 64 and warios dirt track or nfsu. more examples as well but im high rn. i fyou think its tacky i understand but its generally accepted at least by me.
>200cc New York Minute
Pure chaos, at least until I being to remember the lap differences
Have they been balancing out item payouts for 1st? I've been getting more triple bananas in one race in first in this update than I've ever seen in many gameplay sessions prior.
>DLC Wave 2 track finally comes up in rotation after shifting through a dozen lobbies
>everyone but one homosexual picks it
>homosexual's base game track that everyone has played a billion fricking times gets picked
Frick you if you do this you literal fricking Black folk. Die.
Based. He has enough good taste not to want to play one of the shitty mobile ports Nintendo is drip feeding you
The alternate is to have walls popping in and out each race, and that can look very odd. Hell, I hate how the ramp works on Lap 2 of Kalimari Desert.
fugg :DDD
oh well
You got 3rd lapped
Who else 3 star every cc here?
Me! I have also completed all but 2 Staff Ghost on 200cc.
I got 50, 100 and 150 CC done for 3 stars. Haven't touched time trials yet, nor the other CCs yet.
I gotta say I really like how much time you get out of each DLC (if you're doing all of these), they should really start adding more unlockables tied to them though. Just some car parts and stuff, especially more variations for the meta stats so people don't just keep driving wigglers with the same wheels.
Anyone interested in a Gankereekend thread tonight
YES
Sydney speedway, waluigi pinball and sky high sundae are the stand out tracks I think, on 200cc anyway. Sky high sundae especially feels like it was designed with 200cc in mind
So do you guys think they'll go from 48 to 96 for max race size when they're through?
They should just disable bloopers for waluigi pinball.
I fricking hate Waluigi metagays
