Bowser's Castle R is good for grinding tokens with Kamek, getting 40k points per run.
Airship Fortress T's better. Four itemsets instead of three.

Updated ID gaps after Peach Gardens and Amsterdam 3 confirm that DS Mario Circuit and either Amsterdam 4 or a new track alphabetically between “Amsterdam” and “Bangkok” (Athens?).
The other remaining large gaps are for Bangkok 2 and 3, GBA Snow Land, GBA Luigi Circuit, a new track alphabetically between “LosAngeles” and “NewYork” (Madrid?) and Singapore 3

New tour hints / tips:
1. If you're sitting on a lot of Star Tickets, use them before you clear the Tour Gifts so you can get the coins instead, since Star Tickets have no real value otherwise (unless you want to save them to skip a tour and still collect the gifts).
2. The multiplayer pipes are a good source of quick tickets which can be used to open the Cups faster, or be used to refresh the Daily Selects or Daily Spotlight.
3. Save a Coin Rush Ticket for Week 2, since they're often needed for the Tour Challenges Wk 2. You get a Coin Rush Ticket by completing Tour Challenges Wk 1.

You need only like 20 of them if you're going to do this and since they began shitting them out on the multiplayer pipes I feel like I'll never run out of them. Same as Quick Tickets, I felt like I had to be careful with them before and now I have way more than I'll need.

It's as simple as changing how mushrooms work on battle courses.
A simple fix would be to just not let dragged mushrooms give you points for touching them during Battle mode. I hope they dont make drag mushrooms universally breakable now, Imagine youre about to use a mushroom to recover from a hit and some guy grazes you and eats it. Or you're about to use one for a shortcut and thanks to lag, a fricker touches it and ruins that plan! Also hope they don't disable multiplayer scores. Gives the locked-cup stars early and saves me the Quick Tickets!

Week 1 plan: Should be OK for Top 3. Pinja and Kamek saving me again. Finally bumping Rosa Volendam to improve my boomerang driver selection. I have Tux Mario (Lv5) if I want to improve score on Amsterdam Drift 3 without leveling up Rosa. Already took the 8bit 1up Mushroom to Lv6 double cap today, but haven't had another good run on Peach Gardens yet. Really tough to hold combo on both of the new courses.
That bowser's castle r score can be improved to at least 35k I think.
I don't think the two of them overlap. Problem with Pinja is that he overlapped for me with other top 4 item characters, so it stayed at level 1 forever.
Week 1 result: 2nd place. Back and forth all week between 1st and 2nd and got passed in the end. Took Rosa Volendam to Lv5 double cap. Starry Great Sail in the free gold pipe.

Week 2 plan: Meowser is now my second Lv6 coinboxer (double capped), behind Kamek. Either Gold Petey or Tux Mario (each Lv5) will likely be the next.
Glad to now have my first Lv6 high end banana glider with the Sunset Balloons; should be a big help for my banana-heavy driver roster.
Can run with either super Bowser (Lv7) or high end DK Jr (Lv5->Lv6?) for Bowser's Castle 3R. Either the Capsule kart or the Magma Broom could go to Lv6 if needed.

Green Bus is now Level 4. I might take the Chain Chomp Mii to Lv5 if needed, though I'm tempted to throw tickets on White Tanooki Mario instead. Flying Flappers to Lv6 is an option.
Currently in 1st, but will probably finish 2nd as usual, which is OK. 2nd place gives me easier opponents for the next week's ranked for the low cost of 5 rubies and a few coins.

P.S.: On Peach Gardens R/T, Lv6 seems to be the threshold where the combo time is high enough at 150cc to hold combo between the action items on the track without turbo boosts.
My 36k run had a combo of about 130, which is rare for me. Maybe 160-170 actions overall.

Double capped the broom for Bowser's Castle. May need to take it up to Lv6 and grind on it. Maybe switch to DK Jr.

Week 1 plan: Finishing first last week gave me tougher opponents for this week. Lots of Level 7 drivers in my opponents lineups; I am a max Level 6 player, though I haven't spent any tickets yet.
Merry Mountain T: Most opponents are going with Cowboy Wario or Cat Peach (Lv6 unlock). I am debating whether to take my Lv4 Peach up, or stick with vampire Waluigi (also Lv4). My gold star glider is Lv 6.4; could easily take to Lv7.
Vancouver 3R: Initially chose Rosa Volendam Lv5 2c over King Mario Lv4 1c. Tempted to switch to Mario since he's also in next week's ranked, but overlaps with Vampire Waluigi on Merry Mtn R/T, so...KangaYoshi (Lv5) there? Chef Rosa (Lv4) is also a double feature on Snow Land R/T.
Snow Land: Thanks to the weird repeats of Vanilla Lake last summer, I somehow have a Lv4 Santa Mario. Should be good here, except the bots are nasty tonight. Can't even finish first.

Pinja is very useful, especially in tours collecting tokens from damage. But Pinja does have some overlap with especially Gold Chuck and others as mentioned (
), so check a tracker to see if Pinja makes sense for your account.
Pinja and White Tanooki are the top 2 giant banana drivers. Chef Rosa (city heavy) and Sunshine Mario (old) are good. The new Yellow Mii suit seems OK, and the original DK (super) has been in ranked sometimes. DK Jr. and Dixie Kong are great for triple bananas. But I hate the banana barrel skill and avoid using those drivers (Funky Kong and Diddy Kong).

According the overage tracker I use Wonderful Wings would give me 10 new tracks, but 5 are cities (Amsterdam 1, 3, 3T, Bangkok 1 and LA 3) while the gliders that give me the most new coverage are all like 15 or 17 tracks each
Then I would probably skip it and focus on more recent coverage, wonderful wings came out during the sky tour, even before the level 8 update during february so as good as it still is, its reign won't last much and will be replaced by a more recent one eventually
The most useful gliders according to my overage tracker are Sakura Origami Balloons and Tulip Corsage (17 each); 8-bit Fire Flower, Bright Balloons, Tropical Balloons and Mario’s Hat Balloon (15 each); and Black Toe-Bean Balloons, Candlelight Flight Cake, Mint and Berry Balloons and Lava Rocks (14 each), but no overlaps are taken into account there

Going by the ID gaps what courses do you think are coming up in the next few tours? Snow Land seems obvious for winter and has the largest gap currently, then there’s also Paris 4 and Paris B, Bangkok 2, Singapore 3, GBA Luigi Circuit, the GCN track and DS Mario Circuit with large gaps
Snow Land next tour, Singapore 3 in New Year's right after, and Paris around Valentine's next year. Others are harder to predict aside from GBA Luigi Circuit obviously being in the near future. New Yoshi track should be in April.

Just try not to score too much higher than 2nd ("overbake"). No more than 4000 to 5000 gap. Refrain from overusing level tickets in Tier Cup ranked courses, and work instead on increasing player level on non-ranked courses.
Question; when a track returns in a tour and a recently released D/K/G sees it for the first time and doesn’t get it as a new track, can it never get that track again even in the future?

You also get the 2x bonus on multiplayer (empty the pipes faster). But it's not critical; you can still clear the pipes without gold pass. It will just take longer.

Is it actually faster to not take the halfpipes? I’ve noticed that every time I use a halfpipe I almost always get overtaken
For multiplayer yes, for scoring better get rid of the badges because taking the halfpipes and getting special trick gives you considerably more points
It depends on the course.
If you can use an inner halfpipe on a bend in the track, it works as both a shortcut and a speed boost, and you can build a good lead.
Most of the DK Summit tracks have this crazy and useful inner bend half pipe. (pic; DK Summit R/T)

Auto grinding only really works out for me when it's hitting opponents.
I've been grinding exp on Merry Mountain with the coinboxers.

Mostly running the R/T courses with coinboxers and boomerangs, since they're token rich. But it's really hard to get over 30 tokens. Best results so far:

Santa Bowser already has 28 courses. Around 30 is generally the max.
Get whoever you need for coverage. Santa Bowser is a decent large coinboxer, though I would get one of the newer large coinboxers like Meowser or Gold Chuck over him.
For the banana drivers, Pinja has more coverage than Chef Rosa, but Rosa is newer and still getting buffs. Pinja is super strong peak value right now. White Tanooki Mario is a newer banana driver who might be a better long term value if you can't take new drivers to a high level immediately.

How do I stop the glitch that freezes my screen from happening? It literally happened at the start of a multiplayer race and I got completely fricked over because of it
Multiplayer is a problem for everyone.
I hate when I wait a long time, get a lot of coins, and then when the race starts, it craps out immediately (often with just me in the race) and I lose the coins.

I heard that something to do with the IDs of Tokyo, Singapore and Bangkok have all been changed implying that New Year’s Tour will feature those 3 cities, so if Bangkok returns and/or gets Bangkok 2, will Thai Daisy finally be in the shop? I’ve been playing since Anniversary Tour and gold pass since Battle Tour and I still don’t have enough high end driver tickets to get even 1 driver to level 8, how do other players get so many high end driver tickets?
Whales buy the premium challenges and get tickets from the daily selects. If you have at least 1 high end item that can appear at the shop at level 8, then you unlock the possibility of getting tickets but for them to appear, you have to max at least one category, for example, taking all normal gliders at level 8 so they no longer appear at the shop and you start getting normal tickets and sometimes high end ones too, the more full categories you max, the more tickets you will start getting. Most whales have been playing since day one so they had a lot of time to max normal and super items by pulling pipes pretty much every tour.
The bottom line is that it's just not feasible for new players or even veterans that are not fully p2w especially now that we no longer have pipes to help you with that, so you should just save coins to buy them from the tier shop instead.
level 8 is a ticket trap, I'd much rather have five level 4 drivers with complimentary coverage. Worth on the breath of your coverage and eventually you'll reach a point where you don't need to spend tickets often to keep winning ranked. Then you can hoard and be greedy later
If the bathroom track really is called “Bathroom ____” or something else starting with “bathroom”, that should place it alphabetically in the gap between Bangkok and Berlin right? The ID gap there seems way too large for just the other versions of Bangkok. I think this site puts “Bathroom” after Berlin alphabetically because its (presumed) internal name is mob_br
remember you can get tokens from christmas tree hits too, not sure if any track has a easy to get stuck against tree though
It was very difficult to find Xmas trees to hit to clear the challenges. I had to keep replaying Snow Land and hope for a green shell to hit the big tree around one of the bends.
Hopefully they'll have more kadomatsu to hit in the New Year tour. I remember my first New Year tour trying to figure out what a kadomatsu was.
They pretty reliably put kadomatsu flanking the start line on most courses at least
I forget which year it was but there was one new year where the kadomatsu were there but they didn't grant points. It was really inexplicable.
I also have no idea if the driver/holiday match bonus still exists. Used to be that if you hit a pumpkin/tree/kadomatsu with a matching halloween/christmas/new years driver you got way more points.

No clear way to tell, you just keep grinding until it stops. You'll notice you get less and less as you grind, though.
it tapers off the closer you get to the cap, so just watch your gains, when it's small your close. If you're getting more than a full percentage point, you're not.
Have I done alright to make up for the horrible score on Snow Land?
I mean you're 1st. But you can get a bit more out of Snow Land if you grind one coin box frenzy.

I think the super elements they give as ranked rewards have been useful and work for future ranked coverage but they are not worth 200 rubies plus level up tickets, besides you don't really need gliders to keep the combo on both R/T tracks so I would say take the L

King boo LM is surprising tho, he sucks and I'm guessing people simply bought him during the halloween tour for ACR, I think he was top shelf on a lot of tracks
This just cements that the vast majority of revenue was from gold pass and that removing gacha was an easy decision - remove mechanic that associates your kid friendly IP with gambling for a small portion of revenue.

We may get the R/T version for both the 3DS and SNES since apparently we'll have a trick tour, last one was when we still had 12 cups and they used to repeat a lot of those tracks but this time we'll get a lot more. 4 repeated battle courses and 6 new ones, that's 35 tracks to fill the remaining cups

well yes and no, you get the red suit free no matter what, everyone who was around for the mii tour got luigi and toad. It's not hard at all to get the bronze suit either.
I'd say Nabbit/King Boo are the first "real" entries here, and since they're both lucky 7 that's actually kinda leaning into the meta. The cat suit is unexpected though, and I think the larger MKT commuity may in fact be down bad for cat girls. baka.
This really does explain a lot of the Mii buffs. Cat is definitely the most interesting here, since it was only added to the shop in a later tour and doesn't have one of the top skills like Nabbit. On top of that, it's the only generic aside from the one everyone gets and the easiest ranked reward.

Should I just not do week 1 ranked at all and take the loss in tier to have an easier time getting the ? block suit next week?

About the locked cups, the R/Ts for 3DS Rainbow Road, Waluigi Pinball and Daisy Hills are the only “new” courses left, everything else in the locked cups is just repeated R/Ts
But we've seen those three before, I'm sure.

Agree; it’s not worth using a lot of resources to get a Mii suit, especially when it has no special skill, like the Black Mii double bobombs. It’s good to collect as many Mii suits as you can, but not many of them have high value individually. And they have fewer tracks than regular drivers.
It’s really tempting to buy Mii suits from the shop this tour since they’re on sale for 70r. The Nabbit and King Bob-omb have plus skills.
How does throwing a ranked cup work? Not doing anything will leave me in last place and going down 2 tiers, so do I just do 1 of the 3 ranked courses? How low do I have to place in ranked to get an easy time in the next week?
It depends on how bad you need those glider cap tickets. There is a jump from 11th to 10th, and from 7th to 6th in the ticket rewards.
I’ve finished as low as 14th. Usually the last 5 players are just bots.
Wario Mii suit has some surprising key coverage for me, I have it at level 3, single cap. Haven't used my Builder Luigi since the Mario vs Luigi tour and even then that was the first time in ages I used him.

The first tour of the new year has been a new city for the past 2 years - Berlin in 2021 and Singapore in 2022, so will we be seeing a new city tour as the first 2023 tour too? But the first 2023 tour also runs through this year’s Chinese New Year, so it’d be the perfect time to introduce Singapore 3, which do you think it is?

Week 1; Good news/Bad news. Score is great but my ranking is shit. Still need to do some grinding for triple frenzies though. On Bowser's Castle 3R/T, debating whether to finally take Chain Chomp Mii up to Lv5 and give some love to Sakura Origami. Otherwise I'm pretty much done except for taking the Red and Moo Moo Offroaders to Lv6.
Week 2: Good news/Bad news. Loadout is shit, but I already have Thai Daisy (Lv1) to help on Cheep Cheep and Larry Wintertime (Lv1) on Baby Park. So it's a good opportunity to throw tickets on some coinboxers. I have Yellow Offroader Lv6 on Cheep Cheep, but need a ton of glider and kart tickets for the rest. I hate Goo Goo Kart on Baby Park R/T; likely to buy Strawberry Soft Swerve if it appears in my shop, or maybe buff my existing Streetle (getting meta buzz). Calico Toe Beans is OK on Baby Park, but this may be a chance to buff some new gliders other than my low-meta Mario/Luigi hats on Cheep Cheep and PP Slide. Maybe the new Hard Hats?
Might buy the Premium Cards, but will wait until I need them, probably Week 2. Start with the $20 card and work my way down. Testing whether purchased gold pipes yield better items when delaying purchase.
I know blockhead is a really good driver but if you have to buy the premium challenges plus the new gold card just to have a chance to fight for him, it's not worth the money. He will keep coming back and eventually will appear at the shop
Update: 1 hour grinding with no tickets spent got me up to 4th place. Pinja saves my ass again with ~10k improvement on Koopa Cape.
Bowser's Castle 3R/T is a very easy course to hold combo on and get high scores. Surprised at the high scores with a Lv4 Mii suit and Lv3 glider. Makes me want to play with Mii suits a little more.
I already have blockhead Mii (pic), and am tempted to take it to Lv4 just for the hell of it. I have only ever used two Miis for ranked (Bronze and Chain Chomp). But it will cost me $35 if I want the driver level tickets to compete both weeks. Getting two high meta coinboxers (Blockhead; Thai Daisy) and the newest one (Larry Wintertime) to Lv4 is a great opportunity if I want to start shooting for ACR someday. Just taking them to Lv3 is a good cost saving strategy.
Update: Up to 3rd place with 3 hours grinding. Joined the 100k club. Tough competition today.
Sky Garden R/T: Threw all of my super level tickets on Mario (super; Lv7.12, 3c). 4 away from being my 1st Lv8 driver. Got a good triple frenzy run. Using the badge bot clearing trick in Battle Mode seems to give worse scores than just doing a natural wait.
Koopa Cape R/T: no change
Bowser's Castle 3R/T: Took my D/K/G from Lv4/5/3 to Lv5/6/4. Thinking about taking Sakura Origami up to Lv5 and going for 1st place this week, but this would cut into my level ticket inventory for next week. Going to wait until I get passed to make another move.

I had the NY glider for 2021 and 2022 the problem is they never get used more than maybe one tour so I don't think they are really worth the money.

There are online tools which calculate theoretical max scores for each course based on your current/potential D/K/G loadouts. People who compete in All Cup Ranking (ACR) use them to find where they need to spend their time grinding.

It gives you a percentage of your theoretical max score.
Players usually don't become competitive in ACR (Top 1000/100/10) until after they've been playing for at least 2 years.

So looking at these strings, a lot of them relate to the future bathroom course which is probably MobBr including a “JumpSticky” object for it (…what is going to be in the bathroom?). Interesting thing is that MobDk has a “HpBoard” object which seems to be different in the R version as well as a “GlideFloor” object. Also MobOr which is known to be a city having two different start gate objects meaning that the starting line won’t be in the same place for every variant? Lastly is the object for “GcdcN”, no Double Dash track has “DCN” as an initial so which Double Dash track is this object referring to?
Which of the new gliders this tour do you all have the best hopes of being good? The gold shit looks like an obvious contender, being effectively a pack item, but the Fuzzy Battery seems very low-key. Could easily see it taking off if no one buys it, especially with the Mii discounts likely being the bigger draw.

They're overloading us with new gliders this tour, which is rare. Recently it's been an overload of karts. Waiting for the week 2 stuff after everyone has spent their rubies is a good strategy.

My prediction: Thai Daisy will be the week 2 spotlight of the tour that introduces Bangkok Rush 2, but only be top shelf in 1 or 2 of the week 1 ranked tracks and none of the week 2 ranked tracks

It can happen if your pool doesn't have bots, I remember during the first amsterdam tour both weeks I ended in 17th and 19th place respectively, it was the worst I've ever done
Tanking ranked hoping for an easier pool the week after is just speculation, I wouldn't count on having an easier week in any case because a lot of people want blockhead so if you want it better be ready to grind and spend tickets

Paying real money for things in this game is entirely up to you but it's true that commemorative items get good buffs. you should at least use a tracker to see if it gives you more value than just a ranked track

Week 2 status: Still struggling after dumping a lot of tickets onto (Lv1) Thai Daisy and (Lv1) Winter Larry, but happy to have three new coinboxers in my ranked lineup. Waiting to see the tour preview tomorrow to decide whether to go all-in or hold back for the next tour. All-in would mean ThaiDai and Larry to Lv5, Strawberry Kart to Lv 5, and any glider to Lv5.
Don't really need the ?block Mii since I already have it. Bought all three challenge cards; didn't get anything new or good in the gold pipes. Also bought all Tier Shop level tix. Might have to settle for holding rank at Tier 71 this week. Many of my opponents have Penguin Toadette (Cheep Cheep R/T) and Builder Toadette (Baby Park R/T) at Lv 5 or 6; like a foreshadowing of next tour featuring Toadette.

Might get over 1.2 million ACR by grinding all the tracks this weekend, but it's not worth it since my Total Points Challenge is already clear.
Update: I went all-in on W2 ranked.
It's absolutely brutal. Tons of grind time just to get up to 5th place to hold tier.
Blew through almost all my level and cap tickets. Hope this pays off over the next few months, but covering the next few tours could be tricky.
Wishing for another glider level ticket so I can level up another one of those hats to Lv5 on Cheep Cheep or Piranha. Holding combo is tough on the straightaways. Baby Park R/T is fairly easy to hold nonstop combo; just wait for the frenzy luck.
Having Larry Winter cover both Piranha Plant Slide and Baby Park is helpful for ticket conservation, so I double uncapped him. May also double uncap Thai Daisy since an Asian themed tour is being predicted after the Space tour.

After a big effort the last few days, it came down to the last half hour on Piranha Plant Slide R/T. The bots really eased up in the last hour of the ranked cup.
I am now low on cap and level tickets as shown above; hopefully a merciful ranked loadout and/or better pipe luck next tour. Haven't had a high end level ticket in my Daily Selects for 2 months.

Definitely become less useful since his heyday, but I’d say he’s aged among the best out of the old Coin Box drivers. Pretty good option for a lot of the older tracks.

So it turns out that I could’ve easily gotten 2nd place in my ranked and gotten both the black mii suit and the kart if I had wanted to, but I decided to finish in 19th place and rank down instead, I really hope this was worth it

I have the right to ask this then. What's a quick rundown on this game? Would it be fun to play every once in awhile or do you need daily logins and quests to get enough currency?

Well, it's a mario kart game but for mobile devices, no lore needed, just new tracks and items every 2 weeks, the current tour is the new year's, which for some reason nintendo made a trick one, meaning only tracks with a bunch of ramps and quick turns.
The main focus of this game is getting a high score and not just winning the race so you can compete for the weekly ranked rewards, it ends on tuesdays and the new one starts the day after, the higher your tier, the more rewards you get.
Each driver has a skill to use during the race and to get higher scores it's better to focus on the meta items like coinbox, lucky 7, boomerang and giant banana.
Forgot to mention, each track has a selection of favorable drivers, karts and gliders that can get you more points, that's how nintendo forces you to keep buying items once in a while

I've been playing since early 2020 and I still enjoy it, though I must admit that I actually liked when gacha was around because of the excitement of beating the odds, now is mostly about checking your coverage for the ranked tracks and buying the right elements with the rubies you win from the shop

There are sometimes when nintendo will bring login rewards but now it's just a daily challenge which is racing a random track and after that you get to pull a random pipe with low odds of getting something decent. As a new player you will get a lot of gifts to hook you up but it's not a super grindy game unless you get to a higher tier, the most you would have to grind is getting event tokens, which is always from racing courses or from crashing opponents then you pull more free pipes and can get pic related.
Token Grinding tip: The "Vs. Gold Minions" mode is a great way to quickly collect tokens. Invite your friends and do three races (2 players together vs. 6 bots). It's all over in 5 minutes, the bots are easy, and you get 50 victory tokens plus whatever you collect. Good deal. The courses are always DK Pass R/T, Bowser's Castle 1R/T, and Sky Garden R/T.
Outside of Multiplayer, good token grinding courses are Pinja on Shy Guy Bazaar R/T and Chef Rosa/White Tanooki Mario on Donut Plains 3R/T.
In "Vs. Gold Minions", if you use top shelf boomerang drivers on Bowser's Castle 1R/T (Samurai Mario or Piranha Plant Mii) and Sky Garden R/T (Piranha Plant Mii), you can shred the bots for a large amount of additional tokens (30-50) if you get a boomerang frenzy.

I wouldn't count on those coming back soon, with the abundance of new tracks, the snow/ice tracks may only reappear again when sky high sundae comes back, maybe during the summer, and then until late autumn. People have noticed that those snowy items pretty much become useless during most of the year until nintendo brings those tracks again to mess with our coverage.
I hope Winter Larry gets good buffs despite his christmas theming, is him getting two ranked courses this tour a good sign for the future?

So it seems like throwing week 1 ranked really did affect the difficulty of my week 2, the highest score I’m up against is around 35k compared to the 42k of week 1 which I couldn’t beat, and there are also people in my ranked who never played the ranked cup at all while last week everyone in my ranked had scores for all 3 courses in ranked

Week 1, not for the new toadette alt but for pink toad, other than blockhead and gold petey, the other high end rewards have been terrible and you have to give them your precious HE tickets to invest in them but the super drivers can come in clutch because they get new tracks and can become ranked drivers very soon after their debut and giving them your super tickets isn't that big of a deal
Interesting, but the super drivers I’ve gotten as ranked rewards so far haven’t been useful, the only exception so far was Orange Yoshi who was my only driver for Merry Mountain T and his item felt very useful

Week 1: ( = me) Lots of work to do here. Big ticket spending needed for Knight Luigi (Lv1 to Lv4 ) on Boo Lake T and a kart on Wii Rainbow Road. Struggling whether to pick Armored Rider (bigger kart; Asian themed) or Lightning Streamliner (newer; Singapore coverage; Fuzzy Battery logo matching last tour's glider) to take from Lv1 to Lv4, especially considering the next tour's Asian/Singapore theme. Maybe put Larry Winter on Wii Rainbow Road instead of Chef Rosa (both Lv5, 2cap) for the final grind.
Week 2: Will have enough driver tickets to take Samurai Mario from Lv4 to Lv5 [Ghost Valley 2] and King Mario to Lv5 [Rainbow Road R/T] after buying the challenges and the tier shop items. Magma Broom [Balloon Battle] and either Moo Moo Offroader or Blazing Eagle [Rainbow Road R/T] can go from Lv5 to Lv6. Sakura Origami [Rainbow Road R/T] from Lv5 to Lv6. Possibly double cap a driver (either Samurai Mario or King Mario) or a glider (Candlelight Flight also covers the first two courses at Lv6, 1cap, instead of the Sunset Balloons and Black Starchute currently shown).
I think I have a much better chance of winning week 2, so I'm holding back on week 1. Hope to finish high enough to hold Tier 72 after week 1, but it will be tough with 2 new Lv4 1cap items competing against strong opponents with a lot of Lv6/7 items double or triple capped. Starting to see the potential benefits of investing in Mii suits, but fear their poor coverage. What you save in cap tickets you lose in level tickets.

Boo Lake T is very easy to hold nonstop combo on; RMX Rainbow Road 2R/T is also OK with a couple of sticking points. I need way more time to learn Wii Rainbow Road. I was not a Wii kid, and this course version has some tricks I haven't seen before in Tour.

Well, everything you work for in this game is so that you can raise tiers, otherwise you're just playing casually without caring.
Do you think the Gold Lunar Cruiser will be worth trying to get next week?
The Gold karts (and gliders) are rarely worth much. I get them all the time as gold pass gifts, but almost never use them.
A noteworthy exception is the Gold Bullet Blaster which is in ranked twice this week and once next week. But I'm not using it myself.
The original Lunar Cruiser from the 2021 Space Tour is not very great, so I doubt the gold version will be valuable.
I will probably skip next week’s ranked then and drop a tier, don’t want to miss out on the merlion mii suit in case it does turn out to be a ranked reward
Do you get more score with a coin frenzy or a coinbox frenzy?
Good point. It depends on the course.
With coin frenzy, you get 100% of the coins, but with coinbox frenzy, you have to pick up the coins, even though the total coin number is larger.
So if the course has a lot of curves, jumps, and gliding sections, a coin frenzy may be better than coinbox.

If you can get both, do it. They are both relatively new and strong. They shouldn't have too much overlap since Luigi was introduced a few months ago and is peaking now. Toad should be good in the spring themed tours.
Historically (~2 years ago), the top boomerang drivers were Kangaroo Yoshi and Ninja Shy Guy. They are both strong on old courses, especially Yoshi.
Then came Samurai Mario, who was initially a dud, but resurged later. More recently, Vacation Luigi (Singapore tour) and Rosa Volendam (Amsterdam tour) were introduced, but their coverage is city heavy.
I’ve got 972 rubies and Luigi is in my shop today so I’m tempted, but I also want to have as many rubies as possible for next tour in the likely event of Singapore-related stuff and Thai Daisy appearing in the shop then

Theory: Using the Balloon Battle course in the Week 2 ranked cup as a way to do the recently discovered bot clearing trick for Week 1 courses may have negative repercussions for Week 2 Balloon Battle scores.
This is why Nintendo put a battle course in ranked in this tour; to discourage people from doing this.
Solution: Use the other battle course to clear bots. Cookie Land in Cat Peach Cup is nearby.
Theory 2: There are good bots, neutral bots, and tough bots. When you use the battle reset, it sets you back to neutral loadout, (no good or bad bots) but you don't get help from the good bots. So it's not ideal.
Good bots are often coinboxers or dash ring skill. They spew items in front of you to help you hold combo. They also sometimes help by intentionally running into your items.
Both good and bad bots have badges. The neutral bots are badgeless. So it's hard to tell exactly what you have except by paying attention to the bot behavior during a race. If you think you have good bots, keep hitting "replay".

Can you explain why? This makes no sense.
I actually found that the opposite, I grind for the exp of every single track so everytime I do the clearing of badges exploit, after racing the track I go back to get back the 0.6% of exp lost from the battle course and after some retries, I've been getting better scores
I'm only Tier 34 and have never really struggled in ranked yet besides a couple times where I got 2nd because some guy was just way ahead.
Should I get Luigi Knight? He's useful to me but he seems to be hitting his peak and I hope he's not out of ranked by the time I start getting some real competition and actually needing him.
I’m having the same question; I was missing Luigi Knight for Boo Lake T this week but for now I have a high enough score even without him, but I’m wondering how long he’ll remain useful for. This tour also introduces Astronaut Toad, a brand new boomerang driver at a discounted shop price too so I’m not sure which one will be more useful in the future yet
I think he's a very good driver, worth the investment and when things peak they don't just immediately disappear the week after, it takes several tours for the items to drop from the meta.
Knight Luigi is one of the best recent drivers. Even if he WAS hitting his peak, he covers a lot of the recent tracks and will still get buffs here or there ala the other Boomerang drivers.
Using coinbox while on the final steep slope of Wii Rainbow Road R going up to the finish line just causes all the coins to fall into oblivion, hilarious
It's the opposite on regular Rainbow Road, the coins all actually fall on the ramp ahead of you like it's a flat surface.

Basically confirmed to be Madrid, a new underwater track, and a new Yoshi’s Island track, respectively. Main mystery deepening is how it’s taking so long for them to debut.
We should be due for another new city really soon, they should be adding the last (?) 3 cities before they appear in MK8, and Yoshi’s Island seems to be obviously for the 2023 Yoshi Tour, and it will probably appear in MK8 wave 4 a week before that

What's everyone's control scheme? I'm using a scheme with a dedicated drift button, and I'm growing to hate it.
That is such a weird coincidence. You're at the same tier that I struggled hard with. After a while, I began just curb stomping them. Though, it's starting to feel like these rankings are targeting cups I inherently suck at in terms of points.
This is my setting, I think the steering button is helpful on a couple of courses with hard turns but usually just learning how to drift normally should be enough

Took Black Starchute to Lv7 double capped. It was not enough. I was way overmatched on drivers and karts. Lots of opponents with Gold Chuck and ? block Mii at Lv6/7/8 where I had Winter Larry (Lv5) and Kamek (Lv6).
Used two glider level tickets that I got in Daily Selects in the past 3 days. This was the first time I got anything in two months. At least I finally won Kart Pro.
Week 2 plan:
Already bought the challenges and spent the level tickets. Should be safe in 5th; could make a push for top 3 by double capping Moo Moo Offroader and one of the Marios.
I like Wii Rainbow Road R/T much more than the regular version in Week 1 ranked. Much easier to hold combo.
Premium challenge gold pipe results: nothing really good.
The Red Taxi and Rose Taxi both have Tokyo Blur 4 coverage, so I guess we'll see that set of tracks next tour; maybe in ranked.
I bought Astro Toad; he's useful to grind tokens with on Rainbow Road R/T to loosen up the bots. Should clear the Token Shop pipe tomorrow.
Next tour looks fun. I already have Vacation Luigi (Lv5, 1cap) and Thai Daisy (Lv5, 1cap); probably taking them to Lv6. Vacation Luigi was a star of my account as a new player last year; helpful coverage on Sky Garden and Coconut Mall in early 2022. Look forward to Bangkok and Singapore returning; both have great tracks.

Getting much better frenzy luck on Twilight House than on either Ghost Valley 2 or Wii Rainbow Rd R/T; still haven't had triple frenzy runs on the latter 2 (double frenzy at best). Top 2 opponents have 40k+ scores on Twilight House, but worse scores than me on the regular courses. I will not catch them if they decide to get serious. Lots of players below me also have better loadouts; I will probably not hold 3rd on Tuesday, just hope to keep Tier 71.

Technically Yellow Mii, but it doesn't have the best value and Astro Toad will most likely become a pretty good driver down the line, so I'd invest in him if those are your options.
I'm concerned that many recent plus skill drivers (Astrotoad, Larry Winter, Mario King) are small sized.
Are they trying to steer us toward using the Miis instead?
King is medium, which is usually fine unless you're at the very top of the meta, and size doesn't matter as much with Boomerang. Larry is a bit iffy, however.

Remains to be seen, but general rule of thumb is that no teaser is rarely a good sign. Going to be sad if Singapore only got one non-Mii driver, and one that barely represents it at that.

And this is Singapore Speedway 2 irl, the bridge with the conveyor belts on it in-game is based on that skywalk between the Supertrees, you can see that they have the same color scheme

Lastly, Singapore Speedway 1 viewed from the angle of Singapore 2R with some of the city skyline visible, the city skyline matches up pretty well with the buildings in-game, and the road you drive on between the towers in Singapore 2 is actually there irl too as a pedestrian bridge

Wait, check out the 360 degree exploration video fo Bangkok Rush, you can see that after the street market section, the road splits in two between the road going left to the mall and the grassy road going right and upward towards the Giant Swing (the red structure)
In the tour trailer, when Orange Birdo is shown the route turns left towards the mall and the road right is blocked off. However, the next scene shows a route gliding off the Giant Swing which seems to be leading towards the grassy road, which was blocked off in the previous shot of the trailer
So I think we really are getting Bangkok 2 and 3 because the two shots don’t seem to be from the same Bangkok variant
So the only two new drivers are orange birdo and the roaring racer suit, I'm guessing those will be the ranked rewards so having the luigi vacation and thai sets at high level will come in clutch

Her and King Mario have enough courses covered that they could never give them another track and they'd still be valuable so I'm ready for best girl and then eventually the true King later on.
She will get a new track, maybe 2 and then end her buff run, slowly being replaced by other more recent meta drivers, then down the line will come back when they bring her favorable tracks again like luigi vacation with singapore, sunshine with los angeles or kangaroo with sydney

Nah, Amsterdam and Los Angeles Laps were also done. Only city I could see moved up is Vancouver if they’re really behind on one of them.
More proof, note both parts with the two blue circles that come after the split in the road (I also marked it with a blue circle) after the split road were shown, the mall/market one in the mii suit trailer and the Giant Swing one in the tour trailer and it’d be weird if they were in the same Bangkok route, especially with the grassy road being blocked in that one shot and then the very next shot showing a glide up to that same road
I guess Bangkok got screwed more than Singapore since at least Singapore got the mii as a 2nd driver while Bangkok got no new stuff while having its 2 and 3 shoved into the same tour as Singapore 3…
If we really are getting singapore 3, bangkok 2 and bangkok 3 next tour then there's no way we won't have all 6 ranked tracks as new courses, and again, a bunch of weird buffs and terrible coverage for everyone. The good news is that a super driver and a suit that will be at the shop in a month are not that worthy
I think it’s more or less confirmed, it’s impossible for the new Bangkok roads shown in the trailer to be part of the same version of Bangkok, and the Mario Wiki has also tentatively put both Bangkok 2 and 3 as new tracks for this tour
But wow, is this the first time then that 3 new courses are being introduced at the same time? That’s got to be a lot of coverage to have even if they are all city tracks
And Bangkok being rushed out makes me think it’s because they still have to introduce the AT, MD and OR cities *and* all of 3 of their variants before they get into MK8, and 2 of those 3 cities are going to be in wave 5 so they need the time for them all
Oh and one more thing, tours now have 10 different tracks available across their 4 variants, so in the next tour

It’s certainly possible with Singapore 3, Bangkok 2 and Bangkok 3 all coming next tour…. And that last unknown course for Mario vs Luigi 3 could be DS Shroom Ridge maybe? Shroom Ridge could release anytime and it’s generic enough to fit the theme
Also, the next tour after the Winter Tour will likely feature 8-9 of these 11 tracks thanks to changes in their IDs (apparently)
Should I just go ahead and get Space Toad? I skipped out on Kitsune/Chef Luigi because they were obviously trash and I'm already leading 1st by a huge margin. problem is I fear for Space Toad's buffs since the coming 2 Tours are going to feature city tracks (no way we're not getting paris promenade after this Asian Tour because it falls on Valentines) and I intend to spend rubies on Thai Daisy / whatever else helps me get the Orange Birdo set.

I think he will be useful and even if he gets city tracks his value won't be that bad because he might only get 3 or 4 tracks at best next tour and then just 1 or 2 after that then he will keep getting buffs of retro tracks, all meta drivers go through that correction of city tracks
People have been mentioning how pre-release material for MKT mentioned Cairo as a city track alongside New York, Tokyo, Paris and London, is this true? I don’t think I’ve seen Cairo mentioned anywhere and besides, Sydney was actually the first or second city track to be completed so wouldn’t they have mentioned that instead?
Those people are probably just referring to the old loading screen image with the pyramid and thinking that would be a Cairo track.
To my knowledge it has never been datamined, people only talked about that possibility because of a tiny pyramid that appeared on an old loading screen

Look at the wii track. It's fricking huge compared to your driver.
Well for one, MKW featured wheelies which Wii Funky is doing a lot of in that video. Secondly, I think they might have placed a negative speed modifier on this track. It's pretty telling that every video I see comparing it to the Wii original has to slow down or speed up the footage in order to keep in-sync with the Tour version. I am just assuming of course.
The track is scaled ginormously for some reason.

I wouldn't buy it, the regular double decker, the green one and pic related have never been meta karts but if it fills holes in your coverage, go for it.
I had a similar problem a few months ago and bought the green bus for some rare R/T courses. It's fine if it covers holes.
Gold karts are generally something you don't build your account around, but everyone has one or two that are specifically useful for hard-to-cover gaps. Other ones I see a lot among opponents are the Gold Bullet Blaster, Gold Pumpkin Kart, Gold Sweet Ride, and the Gold Train. Gold Train this tour especially (has some Rainbow Roads).

I feel bad for Astro Toad and Astro Toadette, because they'll probably get loaded up with Asian city tracks.

For looks? yeah sure get it.
In general though, karts are the worst things you could spend rubies on. You can quite usually get by with just top-shelf Drivers and Gliders and a 2nd-shelf kart. I've done it in rank plenty of times!
Stealth Glider for 70 rubies or Sakura Origami Glider for 100 rubies? Stealth is new and gives me both Singapore 3 and 3R/T but future value is unknown, Sakura gives me 16 new tracks, the most that any new glider can give me, but it’s almost a year old and should be running out of buffs soon

The reason for this might be because a new city is likely the next tour, mobOR has the largest ID gap of 50 currently, and this kart has the same color scheme as the flag of the city of ORlando…
