I literally could be blind that I would still think Puss in Boots Last Wish was a masterpiece. I don't give two fricks about which design the cats have.
>I literally could be blind that I would still think Puss in Boots Last Wish was a masterpiece
You don't have to be blind, you just have to be easily impressed
it looks like a mediocre Lego movie knock off with a Mario coat of paint
which is funny since I loved Lego movie and think it would work great as a Smash Bros movie, just not a Mario movie, Peach being literally wildstyle is jarring and Mario is lame as a dipshit that is clueless about his surroundings
I'm no cynic either when it comes to illumination either, I actually liked Minions rise of gru
I was more interested in the original trailer where it seem more like a proper Mario movie rather than a generic movie that Mario themed, is longshot but I wish they would just animate the stories in the Mario RPG whether is RPG or Paper Mario, hell even Sticker Star trilogy would offer a solid adaptation as a movie, maybe not Mario and Luigi with the villains usually being guys that normies have no clue about
I expect it to be around 75; nothing groundbreaking, but still a decent family movie.
Now the REAL question is how will it perform in the box office? I think it will be the highest grossing video game-based movie.
It's trending pretty well in box office surveys next to big film franchises like Fast and the Furious, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Indiana Jones, etc.
I think it'll do very well, there's not much competition in its debut month outside of March leftovers like Creed, Shazam and John Wick.
The early April date also puts it in a prime position to take advantage of schools going on spring break, which usually falls in March or April.
>Now the REAL question is how will it perform in the box office?
it depends on the competition. any big movies coming out within the same couple weeks?
It's super fricking mario, the most famous Italian in the world, nothing's gonna beat out the big man in the box office. They're gonna be running to the theaters
Nah, only John Wick and superhero stuff from the weeks before, and superhero stuff and Fast and the Furious in the month after. It basically has April all to itself.
The fact that they didn't send it out to die in January or February speaks to a level of confidence they have in the film too.
It'll be above average for an Illumination movie. So probably 80. Common complaints will be the pacing of the movie(its only 85 minutes) and of course, Chris Pratt's performance.
Somehow I am actually really looking forward to this movie.
Also the whole "but chris pratt" reaction is so annoying, why is this the first thing people think when they see the trailer? I blame clickbait phone links.
same, I think it looks shitty and generic storywise but visually pleasing and with some character I feel are done well like Bowser and DK as much as I hate Seth Rogan, so I'm interested to see what else is adapted
Around 6/10, but then we add the Nintendo Bonus into the mix, so probably around 8/10, with at least one nostalgiagay calling it a 10/10 masterpiece and making a 2 hour video essay about it in 3 years.
It's gonna be very well regarded because it's actually about the Mario world instead of sticking Mario in the real world like Sonic and Pokemon did. That's a lot more interesting of a concept.
>It's gonna be very well regarded because it's actually about the Mario world instead of sticking Mario in the real world like Sonic and Pokemon did
They've already learned this lesson before.
The movie seems to have rosalina which makes me curious what the frick it's going to be about, since she lives in space and all. I assumed this would just be Mario traveling the mushroom kingdom to beat Bowser but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I dont think she's as popular as she was a few years back. But then again, most zoomers are rosalinagays and her popularity is soaring again cause the zoomers are getting older.
Rosalina is super popular. Galaxy sold 12 million and the recent Mario All Stars sold a lot as well. She's also appeared in all the spinoffs and even as an unlockable character in 3D World.
Probably just a fun cameo that could lead into a future joint.
Pauline's an easter egg background character in one of the posters as well, but I doubt she'll have any presence outside of maybe saying Mario had an ex-girlfriend back home.
>Probably just a fun cameo that could lead into a future joint.
Rosalina has to play an important role in the movie because they are giving away Luma toys at mcdonalds. She's gonna be one of the major characters.
I imagine she is there because she is popular, simple as that
Probably just a fun cameo that could lead into a future joint.

>I assumed this would just be Mario traveling the mushroom kingdom to beat Bowser but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Did you Black folk ignore that they mentioned different worlds out in the Galaxy in the trailer that Bowser wants to take?
Around the 75-80 range honestly. Doesn’t look like anything special but it’s very faithful to its source material, and that’s fricking fantastic for a Hollywood videogame movie. It will probably be on par with the Lego Movie in terms of quality.
>Lego Movie in terms of quality.
I would say so, but it seems like a direct knock off, Mario is literally Emmet and Peach, Wildstyle, which is more baffling consider other characters seem more true to their nature like Toad(even if I don't like the voice), Bowser and DK, also funny how the NotWildstyle would've suit Daisy perfectly
Toad voice is worse than Mario for me, he shouldn't sound like a human when he seems more like he is from a different species like a dwarf or an elf munchkin, could've atleast been voice with a higher pitch or a bit of a rasp but the west don't give a shit voice acting as a talent oh well
As far as animated movies go, 8 or higher is usually reserved for Disney and Pixar's top tier stuff, which I don't see this matching. 7.6 seems about right if it's decent enough.
User rating will be very mid. It will have nintendies giving it 10/10 and sonygays (& sonic fans) giving it 0.
X box probably don't care since they actually have games to play and PC gamers don't care about console wars.
The critics will say it has all the makings of a good animated film but there were missed opportunities and chances not taken. They'll likely say something akin to feeling the rigidity of Nintendo stifling the creative team but overall, a fun movie to take your kids to.
69
Above average around 6/10
>the vaxxed cartoon character face
Wrong
>that redesign
Look how they massacred my boy
I literally could be blind that I would still think Puss in Boots Last Wish was a masterpiece. I don't give two fricks about which design the cats have.

You don't have to be blind, you just have to be easily impressed
there's nothing wrong with his new design
wreck it ralph 2 got 7.0 and that's widely considered to be shit, this will be 9
7.3
It's going to be on the 70s given unless truly mediocre.
7, 8 if the Nintendo bonus carries over to movies
it looks like a mediocre Lego movie knock off with a Mario coat of paint

solid leisure time junkfood goyslop
3.7
8.1 the first week
7.6 weeks/months after
Around 6/10, but then we add the Nintendo Bonus into the mix, so probably around 8/10, with at least one nostalgiagay calling it a 10/10 masterpiece and making a 2 hour video essay about it in 3 years.
7 or 8, probably gonna be mildly entertaining, but nothing ground breaking or memorable.
Pokemon is the real world though, or a meaningful reflection of it; they just have pokemon instead of normal animals.
The movie seems to have rosalina which makes me curious what the frick it's going to be about, since she lives in space and all. I assumed this would just be Mario traveling the mushroom kingdom to beat Bowser but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The amount of games she appears in doesn't equate to popularity but I guess I see the angle you're getting at.
Probably just a fun cameo that could lead into a future joint.
Pauline's an easter egg background character in one of the posters as well, but I doubt she'll have any presence outside of maybe saying Mario had an ex-girlfriend back home.

Rosalina has to play an important role in the movie because they are giving away Luma toys at mcdonalds. She's gonna be one of the major characters.
Captain Phasma in the starwars sequels sold a frickton in merch and was barely there
>I assumed this would just be Mario traveling the mushroom kingdom to beat Bowser but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Did you Black folk ignore that they mentioned different worlds out in the Galaxy in the trailer that Bowser wants to take?
yeah they're doing a homosexual multiverse thing with "galaxies" as the conceit, it sucks
Around the 75-80 range honestly. Doesn’t look like anything special but it’s very faithful to its source material, and that’s fricking fantastic for a Hollywood videogame movie. It will probably be on par with the Lego Movie in terms of quality.

its going to get a 75/100
no Wario, no ticket purchase
my GET will predict the score
im betting 72
would it beat the sonic movie(alone not its sequels)
probably not
Sonicgay detected
nda I don't think I'll be as good either but likely to outsell
#sonicsweep lost to Genshin lmao and got mindbroken by Dunkey. Mario is easily going to wipe Sonic off the public radar in regards to movies.
can you say the english
>can't read or write basic English
Maybe learn how to use "the" before you criticize anyone ESL
Outside of the LMAO that's all proper English.
I imagine it'll probably be fine given how much of a control freak Nintendo is.
what the hell is a genshin
Google is your friend
Sonic, Sonic 2 and Detective pikachu are all rated 6.5 so I'll go with that.
As far as animated movies go, 8 or higher is usually reserved for Disney and Pixar's top tier stuff, which I don't see this matching. 7.6 seems about right if it's decent enough.
I'm predicting that it will do better than Detective Pikachu and the first Sonic movie be a long shot.
Probably will get as much praise as Sonic's second movie, maybe a little higher because it's fully animated
no higher than an 8
reviews will be fine but movie will underperform at the box office, doing worse than the sonic movie but probably better than detective pikachu
all these coping sonicgays. You will never be bigger than mario.
Definitely at least a 7.
People ITT are smoking dick if they think it won't do as well as the Sonic movies.
I said it would do better but I probably wouldn't like it as much
mario if he real
User rating will be very mid. It will have nintendies giving it 10/10 and sonygays (& sonic fans) giving it 0.
X box probably don't care since they actually have games to play and PC gamers don't care about console wars.
rare xboxgay in the wild
nah, I own a PS4 but haven't touched it in about 2 years. Mainly PC game now and browse Ganker

Will this movie have Peach's liminal space castle and personalizrd negative emotional auras like Wet Dry World?
